In Georgetown and decided to stop by Brandy Melville since this is the only location near me and has super cute and affordable clothing. Walking into the store, clothes were well presented and organized so it was easy to find everything. However, if you're looking for great customer service, this is not the place. Workers were visibly rude and act different if you're a POC. The customers were so much more helpful and nicer for advice than the workers. The attendant at the fitting room didn't seem to care about her job as she was munching or drinking something in the back and the fitting rooms were so dusty that I sneezed so many times since I was allergic to dust. It made me feel bad since we were in a pandemic and I was sneezing so much in a fitting room because of all the dust bunnies. I ended up buying some pieces since I loved them so much. I know it's trite, but every girl working at this Brandy has the rankest attitude. Felt like I was walking into the meanest sorority on campus (made up, exclusively, of seventeen-year-olds). I have genuinely never seen a group of girls more averse to doing their job. Five workers standing in front of the fitting rooms deep diving into 2-year-old work gossip just to reveal that, actually, the dressing rooms are closed right now--2 and a half hours before closing. But I overheard a concerning conversation over the weekend and am leaving this comment in hopes that this is addressed by some uppers as it was concerning. I visited this location over the weekend and was waiting in the line for a fitting room. I understand that the workers there talk and gossip however I overheard a conversation that was quite alarming. One of the workers (short, brown lady with a blue tank and a belly piercing, name Quia? ) was openly confessing to shoplifting from the store. She was talking about how she brings her own personal bag to take items home! I think she was even asking another worker to shoplift for her. Interesting considering that customers are under constant surveillance while this worker just shoplifts from the store. It's so annoying that us customers are forced to leave their bags out, forced to count our items, and only limited to 10 items while this worker was admitting to shoplifting from the store. This is a horrible store. Not only is the clothing cheaply made, but they do not have sizes! When it comes to young women, one size does not fit all. What is even worse, they do not give refunds so if you decide an article of clothing doesn't really work for you after all your only options are a store credit or exchange. This is rather limiting as many of the fashions run very small. The associate told me I should have asked before purchasing the item what the return policy was , but frankly it never crossed my mind that returns would be a problem on something purchased just a few hours ago and the fact the policy is printed on the receipt is not helpful as by the time you have the receipt in your hand the money has already changed hands. I took my granddaughter shopping at Brandy Melville, Chicago I have never encountered such rude, condescending behavior in my life. The store was so crowded and the checkout line went up the stairs. I was on the stairs waiting to check out when 2 employees told me that I couldn't be on the stairs (my granddaughter was holding the clothes to be checkout) I stated, then tell all these other people to get off the stairs then one of the employees said, they are paying customers waiting to be checked out. I love Brandy Melville clothes, however, one worker at this store gave my friends and I a problem. Sam, the "manager" of the store was extremely rude and spoke in a condescending manner. We simply asked a question about sweatpants on top shelf, and if she could get them for us. She relplied with "They are 6 feet in the air, it's pretty obvious they aren't for sale." The line is always super long at this Brandy, especially on the weekends. I would definitely go early so you can get a spot in line/get in the store early. Also, the line to the fitting rooms is also always super long and crowded. Since there are no food or drinks allowed in the store, there is always literal mountain of plastic cups stacked on top of each other on the windowsill of the store. Going back to the fitting rooms, if you do get in, the curtains are almost paper thin and see through. You also have to adjust the curtains from drifting every five seconds to prevent the whole store from seeing you change. I tried to text some images to my daughter, who I was shopping for, and I had weak signal so I thought I'd use the guest Wi-Fi named Guest BM but was told they don't give out the password to the guest network to the guests. First of all I love brandy and their clothes, they have a wide selection and good prices. I have been to this location before when I was in town and thought to go again. It was still worth it and I found lots of stuff, although couple things I want to point out. First of all, in line for the fitting room there were two teenage girls working the fitting rooms, they were whispering about a co worker and how she is emotional and doesn't like her shifts. Love this shopping strip it's all outside shops and you can find stores for almost everyone in the family. My daughter loves brandy so we had to come here and see if they had different things than in our area. Don't expect to be greeted the employees are literally the epitome of teenagers when you walk in the house. They think it's all about them lol. And by higher caliber, I mean basic level of customer service. Staff seemed generally put off by answering basic questions, reaching for items that were hanging or returning an online order. This experience is from months ago, before COVID hit, so I can't attest to how they've handled reopening. Additionally, because this experience is from months ago, I don't know if their customer service has improved. Anyways- I had a terrible experience at this Brandy Melville. Still, I like their clothing variety and walked away with some pieces I liked a lot. BUT, this store could use some work. Staff didn't greet my friends and I as we came in, which is fine, but we also just got a very unfriendly vibe. The fitting rooms were actually disgusting. There were dust bunnies EVERYWHERE. It seemed like nobody had cleaned them for months. And the issue with the curtains is true as well. They leave a good 2-3 inches open on each side which made for an uncomfortable experience. And since most items are "one size fits all" trying clothes on is incredibly important... yet the customer experience doesn't matter. Of all my friends, I was the only one to try my clothes on before purchasing. I got a phone call from them, waiting outside the store, telling me the cashier was unbelievably rude to them (We were in town for a high school journalism convention which was scoffed at, apparently) and they couldn't handle the atmosphere. I took this with a grain of salt and went to check out. The cashier, who looked to be around our age (16/17) was nice at first, then asked if I was with the group earlier, and if I was also from (My midwestern home state). When I answered yes, she kind of turned up her nose. I'll admit I had lost patience and was passive aggressive for the remainder of the interaction, as it became clear what my friends had told me was true, and the cashier had no tact at all. After she finished ringing me up, I watched as she turned around and made a face to her coworkers, who snickered. I walked out of the store hearing them whispering about me. I emailed management immediately after the interaction and received absolutely no recognition. I work in retail. I understand that the associates at this Brandy Melville probably didn't sign up to clean fitting rooms. Still, in many cases it's up to all employees to maintain a clean working area when not doing anything else. Also, given the amount of time they spent just standing around looking at their phones and gossiping, they absolutely would've had time to just clean up those fitting rooms. This store was so messy and unorganized. There were boxes of clothes everywhere and the staff seemed overwhelmed (although playing it off and being relaxed which I totally get bc I work in the service industry). Extremely inconsiderate employees embarrassing themself. We went into this Brandy around 4 pm on Monday Feb 28, 2022, and could not believe the behavior of the employees. They were extremely rude, discussing loudly and openly in front of customers how they wanted to close early and how they had done that without permission before. They were making fun of the clientele, and one was laughing and bragging about pretending to be 23 in order to be able to drink illegally, since she will only be 20 on her birthday. Another young worker was repeatedly complaining loudly about how hungover she was. In no way is this appropriate conduct for employees at a store marketed for teen girls. They were unwelcoming and made the experience the worst I've ever felt at a Brandy, which is unfortunate, as I shop at the chain often in other locations. read more

I'm always so disappointed when I go into a brandy Melville store. However, I must say this one takes the cake for the absolute worst. We walked in, mind you not one person greeted us or even said hello. Obviously, no One offered any assistance or inquired if we were looking for anything in particular. Being that we ourselves are in the retail business, I made sure that when we left the fitting room, I removed all the items, hung up what we weren't taking, nicely folded all the items we were taking, and proceeded to the register. Instead of refolding or simply putting the folded items in the bag the cashier proceeded to crumple up the clothes and shove them into the bag. Had I not been rushing, I would have insisted she take everything out and rebag it all. When I asked her why she shoved it all in the bags like that, her answer was "we are actually closed". This was not a small purchase, this was over 600$ worth of clothing. The store closes at 7 and the time was 7:05 when she finished ringing us up. I understand that's she is only a cashier and not an owner, so customer service or customer feedback means nothing to her. As a business owner myself, I was mortified by her lack of concern. As we walked out, none of the girls even attempted to say a simple "thanks for shopping" or "have a nice evening". Just let us walk out bummed to spend our money in such a crappy establishment.
