What a great little bagel shop. All made daily bagels, pastry muffins, flavored cream cheese. The egg bagel toasted with butter was excellent! I brought home cheddar cheese, blueberry, sour dough and honey wheat. They said they have no preservatives so if not eaten today slice and freeze then toast. Staff was very friendly and helpful with prices and menu. Not much seating inside so we took it to go. We will be back!!!! read more

I come from CT and my husband is originally from Brooklyn, so we are very picky about our bagels. It's almost impossible to find Northeast worthy bagels on the west coast of FL; but these are the best we have found thus far since moving here 6 years ago. I would have given the store a great rating but for two things: 1) The store has changed their hours and is currently not open on Mondays; but they haven't updated their hours on Yelp and I just made a trip there for nothing; 2) Don't state store hours are to 1:00PM each day when on most days, they run out of bagels by 9:00 or 10:00AM and close the store. If they're going to state store hours, add an asterisk explaining that it's only until supplies last. That said, the people behind the counter are always so nice and pleasant. read more

It's been years since I've been here, but memory serves well. As with most good bakeries, the folks at Brandon Bagels arrive well before dawn, crank out a day's batch, and go home when they sell out. If you wake up unreasonably early one day, stop by and get yourself a dozen to slice and freeze before they can see the light of dawn. Unlike many of the things sold at their nearby drive-thru "competition" (and whoever thought those... things... were bagels, an Einstein he ain't), these bagels are not just "a roll with a hole". For one thing, they're boiled. Real bagels are boiled before they're baked. This store has a machine devoted to the boiling of bagel dough -- that's how serious they are. And you'll know the difference when you rend the glutinous carapace from the soft bready interior with your canines. If you've got fresh veggies at home, get cream cheese anywhere you want. If you're bringing bagels to the office, get a tub or two of the veggie cream cheese here -- made here, of course, with honest chunks and slices of tasty vegetables. And if you've got a sweet tooth, by all means get yourself a "Russian tea biscuit", the mother of all rugalach. If you don't know what rugalach are, oy vey; a Russian tea biscuit has cinnamon and currants and other treats wrapped up in pastry dough that approaches the tenderness of shortbread but valiantly holds everything together long enough for it to land in your pupik. ("What's a pupik?" Oy, you kids, don't you know a basic English word like pupik?) This is a take-out joint. You want to sit down? Go home. And hurry... your bagels are still cooling. read more

Being a New Yorker I know what bagels are supposed to taste like and this place is like trip to the NY area almost. Great selection of Bagels and cream cheeses. I don't even know what to say I'm absolutely flabbergasted today. I've been going to this bagel shop for 15+ years. Could possibly be considered a local to several of the people there besides the guy today. Absolutely hands down best bagels around and up until today wonderful friendly service. Today I went in with my guide dog in training and I was very rudely told to "wait outside with the dog." She is a true service dog with full public access rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act. She is not just some dog I threw a vest on and you can clearly tell by both her manners and her actual coat that says guidedogs.org. The man behind the counter literally grimaced when I walked in with her then after I politely waited outside no questions asked from me he opened the door slightly and handed me my bag and turned away. I'm shocked by his behavior and saddened that a place I've been a supporter of for more years than I can count and I send everyone I know too, would treat someone with a service dog like this. Very hard to continue to support an establishment that would possibly be so rude to a visually impaired person or veteran with a working dog. I was going to order bagels to take home - they are delicious and they have the best honey butter and flavored cream cheeses, but the look of disgust from the man taking my order suggested there was no way he would have patiently taken my order of a specific dozen bagels ... I can honestly say IF I go back I will walk out if I see that man behind the counter again. Someone mentioned that this place was sold and if that's true the new owners have definitely lost a good faithful customer which truly make me sad because this has been my families and friends favorite bagel place for years, there's no place like it. read more

I have to say I was not very impressed. There wasn't much flavor to this sandwich. I got the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on a cheddar cheese bagel. The best thing about it was they use real egg. I have a thing about breakfast sandwiches requiring real egg. The bagel was just okay. It would have been better if I requested the whole thing toasted prior to them putting the sandwich together. There weren't enough ingredients on the sandwich! Not enough cheese. So the bagel was dry. And it wasn't cheddar cheese. More CHEDDAR cheese please! They also used McDonald's style bacon. It saddens me to give three stars vs five. They have the best bagels in town by a land slide. The issue I always have is availability. I'll get there 8-8:30 and they almost never have the specialty bagel that I'm looking for. There was on left, next in line and the person who called took the bagel I eyed up, I cried on the inside! This place is close by an Einstein Brothers but please make the decision to support local business. They have a salt bagel! I got the lox and cream cheese on everything and the ham, egg, and cheese and they are delightful. Nothing beats a fresh bagel. Drove all the way here to see a sign saying "sold out, online only." Not sure how to order online or if they have a website because the facebook page was "no longer available." I'm sure their bagels are delicious I just wish there was a better system to where a customer can look and see if they are still open or sold out of bagels. The woman at the register was impatient and rushing me....eye rolling exaggerated sighs and dirty looks ....she was very rude And very sarcastic...I told her that I wasn't sure what I wanted because it was my first time there and I wanted to look and see what their menu consisted of. she made me feel extremely uncomfortable and gave me an attitude and made me feel very unwelcome. she talkEd to me like I was stupid and made it to where I almost didn't even want to buy the bagels to begin with. their bagels are good but I don't think that half of a dozen bagels and a thing of cream cheese is worth $20... and the way that they treat their customers to on top of that makes it to where I will never be a return customer ever again..... it's bad business to treat customers especially first time ones like they are a bother. This little hole in the wall GEM is my new favorite bagel spot in the entire Tampa Bay Area! The front end of the store isn't much to look at, but who cares when you can see the open back of the store where all the magic is made!!! Their bagels are all to die for. I've yet to have a bagel from Brandon Bagels that I didn't like! Personally, my favorite are the everything bagels. There's tons of toppings on it and it's just so perfectly seasoned! When I have a sweet tooth, my favorite bagel is their French toast bagel or their chocolate chip- YUM. There are a ton of different cream cheese flavors to choose from so you can get really creative with your breakfast! Their breakfast sandwiches are all delicious as well. I finally was able to try their turnovers (they sell out sooo fast) and was blown away at how flaky they are. I grabbed a Bavarian cream chocolate turnover, apple, blueberry, and a guava cheese turnover- all delicious! They do go fast and are clearly made fresh every morning...so grab one if you can!! read more

This place has the freshest bagels ever. They have a very nice selection of bagels and flavored cream cheese to go with every bagel. They have a have a nice variety of bagel sandwiches made to order. They also have a few pastries but the focus should be on their bagels which are delicious. Lines can be long first thing in the morning so I try to go mid morning and always he fresh bagels with no line. If you haven't been here you need to check them out. read more

I visited my family in Seffner this weekend. My cousin told me about a phenomenal bagel deli that has the most amazing bagels and honey butter. We bought about 20 bagels for the family, and a few honey butter containers to share for breakfast. I'm now back at home in Miami, and I can't stop thinking about the bagels and honey butter. I had the unfortunate pleasure of driving an hour from Bradenton to Brandon for the bagels. When I arrived it was 11:00am. I arrived to find barely any bagels. I had asked the girl behind the counter if there were any more bagels being made. Mind you the shop closes at 1:00pm. The girl behind the counter responded with a no, stating they were not making any more bagels for the day. How is it a bagel store that is open until 1:00pm and has barely any bagels, has no intention of making any more while you are open for two more hours. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I have heard so many positive reviews in regards to Brandon Bagels being an authentic New York Bagel Store. However as a lifelong New Yorker that has moved to Florida, it was the farthest thing from the truth. Never have I been to a bagel store that is open for two more hours, to be told there isn't any more and none being made. I had planned on being a lifelong customer, but after my experience I will never travel an hour out of my way to go to Brandon Bagels. read more
