This is the best bagel shop I have found in this area.....and the only one that makes bialys----a form of bagel-dough, but without hole and containing an indented area with tangy onion. Regrettably, they are not well-known so they only make a few each day and sell out early. I have found them only in NYC and Miami Beach....and not lately, But the very helpful server explained we can come early, or call ahead to reserve, or she will bring them to us since she lives in out part of town!!! Can service get better than that?!?. We did end up getting a half dozen of fine mixed bagels, including a few "flagels," which are smaller, flattened & crispier than regular bagels, They had a fine selection of multi-grains, pumpernickel, sesame, poppy, cheese, onion, "everything" savory, and several sweet bagels---cinnamon, chocolate chip, honey-wheat, etc. A half-dozen for $4.50, and a bakers dozen for $9. They also make sandwiches, including breakfast versions with a variety of sides. Plus flavored cream cheese to go, including lox, veggie, cinnamon, etc. We got the lox and it was great as a schmear on the bagels. We do not dare face the Brandon traffic often, but this is worth returning. And next time we will remember to try the Russian Tea Biscuits. read more

Always fresh and fast, once you taste these it ruins the other places for you. Going back to a Starbucks, Dunkin, or grocery store bagel is just not an option. All the cream cheese flavors are mixed fresh in the store. The veggie cream cheese is awesome! The owner is also charitable and frequently provides local nonprofits with end of the day bagels. This place is tied for the second best bagels I've been able to find in Florida since I moved from NJ! I love it, I just wish the drive from Lakeland to Brandon wasn't so, unfun. From New York, living in Sarasota. I've had plenty of bagels in New York over the years. Brandon Bagel is just as good if not better than most bagel shops from the Tri-State area. I'm very critical when it comes to bagels and cream cheese because it is my favorite breakfast food. Brandon Bagel is far the best bagel shop you will find in the Tampa area! Bagels are light and soft with a perfectly thin crisp to the outside. They are large and have a generous amount of cream cheese. The cream cheese is fresh and boasts with flavor. I have had the Olive Garlic and Jalapeño flavors, both of which are not over powered by the cream cheese itself. You get good bits of olive and jalapeño respectively. It is not a store bought cream cheese, they freshly make their own, and it's better than any cream cheese I've ever had. I don't get to come often but it is now a tradition of mine to stop anytime I head out towards Orlando because the bagels are that good. This is THE place for bagels! First off let me start by saying don't let the little hole in the wall fool you. The plaza is a very old and the Bagel place is outdated, could use some updating in my opinion. However the bagels are pretty good. My favorite item is their cream cheese. They have a variety of cream cheese that are all homemade and taste delicious. I haven't tried one I didn't like. The bagels are soft and fresh. Plus the prices are great. If you want fresh bagels and cream cheese for half the price this is your place. The service is great and they try their best to get you in and out as quickly as possible. Try to get there early because by 11:00am most of varieties of bagels are gone. They are always stocked up with cream cheese and bagels but it gets so busy all my favorites seem to sell out quick. read more

I will start this review out by saying I live in fishhawk Ranch. I have a bagel shop close to my house. Brandon bagels by far is a better product with better service. What a pleasant surprise! I try to bring in treats every now and then for work an since it was a rainy day today, it was perfect timing. When I walked in I was greeted by the ladies behind the counter, they made me feel like I was at home. I wanted to get a lot of bagels so they took the time and went thru all of my options and different menu choices that would cover all basis for a large group. They had an array of homemade cream cheese, I tried the chive and it is officially my new favorite. The assortment of bagels and sandwiches I purchased were fair priced and got rave reviews from any and all that tried them. I even got a call asking where they were located so a friend could go themselves. The only issue I had was the coffee, when I went to pour myself some a regular it was empty, then a columbian also empty I'm not sure which I settled for but once I did the milk and half and half were also both empty. I arrived in Brandon about 2 years ago and was told I gad to have dialysis tree times per week. I was assigned a 6:00 AM to10:00 AM time slot,.Si nce Brandon Bagel was one of to only places =open at 5:00 AM, I started ordering a Bagel wiith lox and cream cheese every M,W, and Friday. When I fell and broke an ankle, they accomidated me with a telephone ordered picvked up by my ambulance crew every M,W,FRI. Never missed my bagel. BTW, best damn bagles I have had since I lived in Massapequa or the Bronx NY, Of course nothing beets the NY/city pre strykev bagels/! Oh boy! Don't know what's happened here...new owner? Change in philosophy? Cutting corners? The dozen bagels I got yesterday morning, not very good (sesame, everything, plain, etc.). These are not properly made bagels...should be boiled, then baked. These were not boiled. Steamed instead...totally different, no crunch on the outside, tasteless, airy interior. And, while I'm at it...they need a good top to bottom cleaning and makeover...place is very dated, old looking. Back to Fishhawk Bagels for me. read more

For tampa area this is a 5. If I was in NJ they would still be a 4. braided bread and other specialty items I have not seen anywhere else in FL. I used to go out at midnight to stand in line sat night for hot bagels; I like a good one and can live withotu any if it has to be mediocre. The cream cheese is done the same way as in a NY deli/ bagel shop so I buy the veggie cream cheese or some special one when I make a deal to drive 25 miles to get 2 bagels - I do not thinka frozen bagel is a bagel any longer so I have to get them so rarely. Love this place but they need to re organize their output. Thy never make enough salt bagels. Half the time I'm in there someone else wants a salt bagel too. They make too much of the weird flavors And always have those available. I usually arrive late morning 10-11am but will stop going there if this continues. read more
