These bagels are the closest to NY bagels in the Tampa Bay Area you can get. Hubby and I like to share a couple bagels with cream cheese while dining in then take a few to go. Good bagel shop if you live in the area. If you asked me in 2020, I would've given this a 5 star reviews. Unfortunately, I've experienced a decline in the quality and service of these bagels over the years. During my last visit, the shop was not packed but had a constant influx of people entering. I noticed many people ordering half dozen or dozen bagels for home rather than bagel sandwiches which is a bit different than other bagel shops in Tampa, but this is probably because there is no seating available at Brandon Bagels. I ordered multiple BECs, and from the time I entered the shop to the time I left, it took about 10-15 minutes. Unfortunately, I didn't unwrap my sandwich until I left the parking lot when I noticed that the cheese wasn't even fully melted, and the egg was a very small portion. The bagels here used to be more fluffy, but are now on the thinner side. Their signature preparation is to is toast, and put salt, pepper, and butter on the bagel sandwiches. I ordered multiple bagel sandwiches which did not come labeled. Suggestion is to label sandwiches in the future as most bagel shops do. I live in downtown Tampa and used to wake up early to drive to Brandon and get a bagel or two early in the morning before work, but now only stop by when I'm in the area since the quality has declined a bit and the ambience is borderline uncomfortable. My very favorite breakfast is an Everything Bagel with lox, cream cheese, tomato, onions and capers. This was one of the best I've had. The bagels make it near perfection, crisp on the out and soft in the middle. The cream cheese softens perfectly. Customer service is excellent and extremely fast-paced. These folks know what they are doing. Was immediately greeted as soon as I walked in. The glass case holding the bagels was so high, I couldn't see the person that was talking to me at first. I just continued to shout my order to the voice behind the counter until I found the register to pay. Got here at approximately 9 am and they were already out of sesame. So, I ordered a plain and salt toasted with plain cream cheese. Both were tasty, with plenty of cream cheese. They did not skimp on the cream cheese at all. They also had various sandwiches, but I like my bagels boring. A good bagel can stand alone without eggs and bacon, and these bagels hit the mark! Went there for the first time today. Did a soft launch so to say lol - only got a half dozen of the regular "frozen" bagels we would buy in store and I'm sold. I will tell you what: this place is a gem for those who know. Make sure to go early! They open at 5 and most bagels are picked clean by 8, and for good reason. They're delicious! They by far have the best bagels in the area, and they make their own cream cheese which is superb (chive and onion is my favorite). Their everything bagels are to die for, and if you don't get there early they will definitely be all sold out of them. I've been living in this area for 10 years now. I've passed by this place a jillion times. Each time thinking to myself that I have to try their bagels. Today was the first time, and it won't be my last. Why did I wait so long? This place is awesome! I didn't feel like the bagel has the outer crispiness of a NY style bagel, but who the heck cares. We're not in NYC. I like both styles of bagels so it doesn't phase me one bit. What I do know is that these are "kettled and baked fresh daily from scratch." That's what the sign says and I believe them. I ordered a breakfast sandwich on an Everything Bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese. They even asked me how I wanted it. Do you want the bagel toasted & buttered? Do you want salt & pepper on your egg? Who even asks these questions anymore? I love this place. I was pleasantly surprised by all of this. They also fried up the egg right there in front of me. Yes, made to order and not sitting around waiting for someone to order it. What a wonderful & tasty breakfast! I also bought a half dozen bagels (3 plain and 3 Everything) and a tub of Olive & Garlic Cream Cheese (thanks to the previous reviewer). OMG, the cream cheese was so yummy! My husband even loved it, and he's not one who tends to comment much about food (even when asked). He specifically asked me to seal the remaining bagels up in a plastic baggie so that they don't harden up (like prized possessions). That said a lot to me. Okay, I may be over exaggerating a bit but the point is that we both liked them very much. I'll definitely go back for more the next time I have an appointment near that area. I think the only negative is that they don't really have a dining area. It's very small. I think maybe a few chairs. The baking area takes up the majority of the space. It's also in a very old and ugly looking strip mall on State Road 60. Other than that, service is actually pretty efficient and quick. There's a lot of parking, and they appear to have a steady flow of local clientele. I highly recommend it for bagels. I've been to the other bagel shops.
