Easily the best bagels in Tampa and it's not very close in my opinion. Have been to bagel shops in downtown, Ybor, Wesley Chapel, Carrollwood, etc. Bagels Plus is the most authentic bagel in comparison to a good NY bagel. Great selection of bagels and always have really good pastries by the front counter as well. Very friendly staff that are super helpful and outgoing every time I have gone. SO glad this spot opened back up! This one's a staple for me, especially on weekends. Warning! It fills up quick so you have to go early if you want to be in and out. Came today for the first time. People leaving gave the tip that the Asiago bagels had just come out and were still hot, so I knew that had to be my bagel choice today. I got the Asiago bagel with Greek olive cream cheese. There was no need to toast it since steam was coming from it after they cut it. They asked if the ample amount of cream cheese already put on the bagel was enough or if I wanted more. That was impressive since many places barely cover the bagel. I've passed by this place so many times over the past two years but never stopped in--until recently, when I was trying to find good bagels. This spot finally made it onto my list. The last time I had really good bagels was years ago in New Jersey, where the variety of cream cheese spreads really made all the difference. Walking in during the early afternoon, some of the popular bagels were already gone, but I still managed to pick up half a dozen of the remaining ones. Also ordered four different cream cheese spreads--olive, jalapeño, veggie, and one I forgot the name of (but it was tasty!). Just 30 seconds in the microwave, and they made the perfect breakfast. Heard a lot of good things about this place so decided to give it a try on our way out of Tampa. As soon as we walked in, the lady at the counters started YELLING at the back that they needed help a couple of times. It was definitely concerning seeing that only 4 people walked in. Not only this, but they were constantly asking us whether we were ready to order after the first time they asked we stated we were looking at the menu to make a decision. They were rude and snappy with everything they had to say and it wasn't just one person, it was all the employees. Never experienced customer service like this before. It was like they didn't want customers. The prices on the board were absolutely outrageous. $2 for a regular bagel and $7 for a bagel with cream cheese. On top of that, a bagel with egg & cheese was $10. After seeing those prices, we thought there must be something other worldly about these bagels. Ordered a poppy egg & cheese bagel with jalapeno cream cheese and the lady confirmed I wanted the jalapeno cream cheese TWICE. And surprise I got regular cream cheese. The entire meal was just ok nothing special at all and the whole experience just left a sour taste. The quantity was the only thing that was decent. I was watching her make the bagel and to that she replies "this isn't a subway". Like? There was absolutely no line or anyone else in the store so for these comments to be made was beyond strange. Meh! I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. I got an egg bagel, toasted with butter. It was totally lackluster. The butter had no taste and the bagel was barely toasted and hardly tasty. These bagels are the BEST! We have been coming here for years and enjoying their fabulous bagels and scallion cream cheese smear. They are the MOST authentic hand rolled, kettle boiled bagels similar to New York that we have found. I just moved to Tampa and decided to stop by for a quick breakfast. Wow! The service here is absolutely phenomenal. They have tons of regulars which they know by name so you know it's a consistent establishment. I got a toasted everything bagel with scallion cream cheese and my daughter had a plain bagel. Stopped here to grab a quick breakfast before leaving Tampa. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and I could tell they had a bunch of regulars. I saw someone post about this bagel store on my neighborhood website. They were saying how it's just like New York bagels. Being from New York this sparked my interest. Having access to the best bagels most of my life, I'm always open to try new places! I immediately went on Yelp and looked it up. I discovered rave reviews from my fellow Yelpers!! I also went on google but to my surprise I couldn't find a website for this eatery. My husband and I decided to take a drive to check it out. When we arrived in the early afternoon it was very quiet. The rush was over. They still offered plenty of bagels to choose from as you will see from my photos. At the front counter was Layla and she was very sweet. We told her it was our first time there and she explained all their cream cheeses and flavors: Plain Lite Plain Strawberry Greek Olive Jalapeño Lite Veggie Chive Lite Chive Honey Walnut Salmon Veggie Bacon Scallion Layla told us by they can make sandwiches etc. I was there for one thing, a bagel with cream cheese! So many interesting cream cheeses to choose from. I chose an everything bagel with honey walnut cream cheese and a hot coffee. We also purchased bagels to go. The bagels are delicious and definitely one of the best I've had since moving here. The cream cheese was delicious as well. As Layla explained, they also make sandwiches on bagels. This is a free standing building on E. Fletcher Ave. There are plenty of tables and chairs and outside they have a covered patio also with tables and chairs to sit at. The parking is right on premises. As we were sitting there enjoying our bagels there was a steady stream of people coming and going. Layla explained that they don't usually bake again. When the bagels are gone thats it for the day. I believe this to be the case for most bagel stores. She also informed me that they also sell bialy's but they need to be ordered in advance. Also, there is a minimum amount you have to order for them to make them. Heard about this bagel store from a friend. I don't travel this way, so I made a trip to see how good their bagels really are. Well this bagel shop did not Disappoint. The bagels tasted just like the ones I grew up eating in Brooklyn. They have at least a dozen different flavors of bagels at any time. All the favorites such as everything, sesame, egg, onion, garlic and cinnamon-raisin to name a few. You can choose from about twelve flavors of home made cream cheese. They have egg and tuna salad, and cold cuts to make bagel sandwiches. Also on the menu are several egg sandwiches, muffins and danish. They have really good self serve hot coffee. Right in front of the counter there is a self serve section of cold sodas and juices. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The store is open seven days a week. But after lunch the choices are limited because they don't bake bagels all day. read more
