The one thing I care about most is good customer service. This shop is located in a cluster of very busy auto shops. But still, he got me in and out quickly and for competitive price. My experience was that there is a nice person who provides a needed service, does it efficiently and provides good customer service. You can't ask for more than that. read more

Fast service, great people; I go there every two years for my SMOG check. Highly recommend it to anyone in the area needing a Smog Check. (Per someone's negative review here- please note the $25 coupon cannot be used for the 5-star SMOG check-but if you mention it, they may still give you the discount.) Also check their website for other discounts. www.glendalestarsmog.com read more

Very responsive to messaging. Messaged at 5pm and there was no line. Alfred was very nice. Bring your registration papers (I didn't know). Price: $20 off with Yelp check in $30 + $8.25 certification + $7 electronic transfer fee. Cute little seating area with leather couches and a heater (it was cold). Cards accepted. read more

Such a deceitful business lying to customers and laughing to their faces. Over the phone, the guy said $60 cash or $63 credit card. On their website, it shows a coupon of $25 off and I mentioned if that can be applied to the $60 I would pay for a smog check. He said it will be, therefore, I drove there to have my car's smog checked. Once I arrived there, I mentioned again if the final price would be $35 with the added coupon but he said that it will be $60 because the original price is $85. Piece of shit lied to me over the phone and I had to drive all the way there wasting my time and gas. Which business has smog checks at $85?! Such a shady business. He laughed at me as I said I will be taking my business elsewhere. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! read more

Went at 3pm on a Thursday. No line. Got right in. Waiting area was clean. Alfred was quick and efficient. In and out in about 15 min total. $48 total with the coupon. Would have been 5 stars, but wasn't informed there was a $3 credit card processing fee, which is almost 7%. read more

I was a walk in just before 9AM today. The person running the shop was very nice. They let me know what they were doing and what things were being tested for my smog check. The shop worker made sure to give me a copy of my test as well as a results page. I was given a $25 off discount from mentioning the Yelp ad on the page. That was awesome. I think, otherwise, the smog check would have been around $70. As well as taking a general look over my car the worker also informed me of some gasket valve cover leaks. He got me a repair quote right away and I was able to take my car in immediately if I were available. Super awesome service here. I'll have to remember this place in 2 years when I have to come back for my next smog. read more

This place is a scam! I picked it on a whim since it has decent reviews but I don't know why, guy charged me up to 100$ for a smog check when down the street they're charging 50! At the time I thought it might be inflation but no, to this day in 2023 everywhere else is still charging 50$. It's a ripoff and a scam, guy should be ashamed of himself. Were usually just reviewing restaurants, but this is an exception. This Smog Check had us in and out so fast we didn't even have time to visit the majestic Gold Star Burgers conveniently located right nextdoor. Would I recommend Brand Smog Check Center? Yes. I just came here and the guy tells me it's $85 for a smog check.. wtf, stay away from this scammers!

Don't believe the ads that say Smog Check $29.95. It's a lie, and you're not going to get that deal from anyone. The difference is that these guys use false advertising and bait and switch. read more

I wish I had the same experience as the people who gave 5 star reviews. First, the positive, on Saturday morning, I was the only one there so there was no wait. Now the negatives, when I pulled up, I asked Alfred how much it was going to be for a STAR certified smog check. I just wanted an upfront answer so I can decide if it's too much. He joked around and said he would take care of me and directed me to park. I then asked him again how much it was going to be and he said 69.95, which I responded I have the Yelp $20 off coupon. Then he said, yes 69.95 with the coupon plus state fees because regular price is 89.95...wait a minute, did you not just say the price was 69.95. It suddenly jumped to 89.95 when I mentioned the coupon? Based on recent Yelp reviews, I was thinking it would be around $50 plus the state fees so that was upsetting. Especially since if he had confirmed that price earlier, I wouldn't have bothered parking. As I had already driven some time to get there, I decided to suck it up and get it done but I was upset at the price gouge. So, I looked for the prices in the shop. Lo and behold, it says 69.95 plus 8.25 for state certification. If there were any other fees like some transfer fee, they should list it on their price list so it's transparent. Instead when I go to pay, the bill said $68. Now how the heck did we get to this number I ask? And finally, he was like I can do it for $60. All I wanted was a clear price from the beginning. I don't want to complain or negotiate. Please just list your prices so people can choose to pay the amount that you are asking for and not waste anyone's time. I get it's COVID and times might be hard, so just list the higher price if you need to charge more so people can decide whether it's what they can afford. read more

Came here not knowing much about the SMOG process being an out of towner, talking to Alfred and having him explain things to me made it very easy. Would totally recommended! read more

The guy was super nice, both on the phone and in person. He got me into the garage within 15 minutes. I told him I had an online coupon and he asked which one and I told him it was the $25 off one and I showed him the screenshot. He rattled off some numbers and a few extra charges and told me it was going to be $50 and change. I said ok?? I went back to my phone to double check in case I remembered wrong. The ad clearly said "$29.75 Smog Check" and I showed it to him. He again rambled off a bunch of other information with numbers and all the necessary charges and reasons for them etc. ...but the AD SAID "29.75 Smog Check" and I told him it's illegal and he could get into trouble for false advertising and he said, "Yeah, that's wrong 'they' need to change that". I don't know who 'they' are, but yes. THEY need to change that because it's false advertising and it's illegal. In my memory of the law, a business has to honor an advertised price even if it's a mistake. It's the reason I drove all the way to Glendale instead of finding one near my house. I would happily pay $50 if they were upfront about it, that's still about normal or at least competitive with everyone else. But their ad is luring people in on a false pretense. read more

A fairly quick and painless experience. I may be slightly biased because I'd been worried that my 10-year-old car was going to fail, but it passed with flying colors. :) Other than my car passing the test, I liked that I could check in on Yelp or Foursquare to get the deal instead of printing out a coupon. Convenient and eco-friendly! They also have a large assortment of magazines to read while you wait. My smog check took about 20 minutes, and the results were sent electronically to the DMV. Super easy! read more
