Easy. Professional. Personable. It's a one-man shop, so you deal directly with the technician. Highly recommended.

I have heard around town how efficient and helpful Angel is in how he runs his shop. My vehicle finally needed a smog test. My visit was very impressive with his friendly service, organization, and convenience to getting my tags. Supporting valuable small businesses in communities like Montrose is vital. Recommending this business to others is a no brainer. read more

We have 3 cars in our fold and so we have to get a smog check every year for at least one of them. This location is pretty convenient in Montrose. Angel is a great person and professional. He always gets the smog done quickly and if there are any issues he tells you what's wrong and recommends how to get the issue fixed. Today he found my fuel cap didn't hold pressure so I went to an auto parts store and got a replacement. Passed with flying colors. Recommend checking in on Yelp... Angle makes it worth your effort. I won't spoil the secret offer. read more

My car got towed for expired reg and I had a hell of a day. It was my every-other-year required smog check year, and I had to get smog-tested before 5pm that night or risk my car getting towed again. I called around 4pm asking if they could fit me in, and the awesome worker on duty (so sorry to forget your name!), said, "Come by at 4:30 as I'm working on someone else's car." I told him I was in the parking lot and why I was there, so urgently, and he got BOTH cars done before 4:40p, which left me time to jet to AAA up the curve to get my tags. Absolute lifesaver! I should also mention: I went here after hearing positive reviews (verbally) from people I know in the area. THANK YOU!! Absolute hero, that worker that day! (3/26/26, around 4:15p) read more

Angel is a cool guy, he is careful with the cars and that is one of the reasons I drive the distance to come here. The driveway at this location is almost street level so if you have a lowered sports car this is the place to come. Give him a call and he will give you an honest eta when to arrive for a smog. Thanks Angel, btw he is a car guy also so that helps. read more

My usual smog check guy moved to Pasadena, so I gave these guys a turn after seeing the good Yelp reviews. I was a little nervous about this year's check, because I had to replace the original catalytic converter last year due to theft. Everything went smoothly, they said no appt. needed, so dropped by on a Wednesday morning. and was in and out within 20 minutes. It was $70 out the door with the test, certificate, taxes and service fee for my Prius. Easy, peasy - will send hubby here when it's his turn. read more

I went in for a Smog check and was very pleased with my experienc. The service and value were very good. The technician who helped me, Luis, was friendly and professional, and got the job done in a very reasonable time considering I was a walk-in. As a bonus, this place is located near Honolulu street, which has many cute shops and cafes. I was able to walk to a bookstore and actually enjoy my time. Would recommend! read more

I moved to Montrose 10 months ago. I needed a smog check to renew my registration. Community Smog Center is located around the corner from my home. I'm BIG on great customer service so I checked yelp and google for reviews. Both looked solid so I pulled up. I was greeted by Luis with a handshake. His overall demeanor was upbeat happy-go-lucky. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Luis was pleasant and goes above and beyond. I highly recommend read more

My wife and I have used Community Smog for years, and have always been happy with the speed and quality of service, but now I've got a new factor that I like - a lot. I recently went to them to get my car smog cert. The tech on duty was new to me, and was a little abrupt. Not unfriendly, just a little short. No big deal. I did a check-in with Yelp to take advantage of the $10 off coupon deal, which was very cool. When I got home, I checked my receipt and saw that I had been charged full price. Nuts.... Not great, but not worth losing sleep over. That afternoon, I got a call from the manager, saying he'd been going over the paperwork for the day and saw I'd not gotten my discount. He apologized and asked me to stop back by and he would refund me the discount in cash! Frankly, I was floored. What a great guy! It's so wonderful to have a business with such a high degree of ethics and integrity that he tracked me down to give me money. Sure, he could have ignored the situation and saved the money, but now he has a customer for life, and solid recommendations all round! Thanks! read more

Star Smog Check was required by DMV. I called and told no appointment necessary. I went the next morning and given service right away. The inspector was very friendly and courteous. The inspection took about 15 minutes. I told the inspector that I was referred to his business by Yelp, and they had a coupon I could apply to the costs. He accepted the coupon and was pleased that I came. All future smog checks will be done here. Mahalo Nui Loa, Yelp and Community Auto Repair. read more

Angel was lovely-the service was SUPER quick and I was able to get $10 off by checking in on Yelp. The service ended up being $60 and I thought it was a pretty standard price for a smog test. Needed to get a smog check from a STAR certified center so I came here since I had a coupon for $29.99. The coupon stated that they honor competitor's prices as I had another coupon for $24.99, which was honored. However, I ended up paying $35 even with the coupons, which threw me off because I was expecting to pay less. Total time spent on getting smog check was under 30 mins.
