It was important when we started the project that it be finished by Thanksgiving and of course she made it happen! Planning and construction was over a period of 6 weeks, the actual construction lasted about 10 days. Due to one member of our family having health issues we did not leave during the construction, surprisingly it was not hectic, they were very respectful, organized, on schedule and polite while in our home. Jackie was on site during most of the construction in case of any issues that might arise, she works well with subcontractors and has access to great craftsmen. All this to say, I started my search for a designer with a dream for my space, but also with a heavy heart and a substantial amount of dread. I discovered Space Reimagined through a Google search and was immediately drawn to the professionalism of the website and the beautiful project photos. Jackie returned my call to inquire the same day, and put me at east right away with her friendliness, competence, and confidence. After a lovely a phone conversation, followed by a visit to my home to tour the space, I knew in my heart that I'd lucked into something wonderful. From literally day one through the final walk-through, Jackie made me feel completely taken care of. Her knowledge of the industry, exemplary taste, and deep commitment to my comfort with every decision never wavered. She truly listened to me, spent countless hours talking me through each step, and continuously impressed me with her ability to keep straight the countless details a full-house remodel entails. Jackie's communication skills are exemplary. She provided me with updates almost every day and held fast to the timeline she set early on. Throughout the several months we worked together, there was never a challenge that arose that Jackie wasn't right on top of. Projects of this size inevitably have their twists and turns, but Jackie was always one step ahead with a solution (sometimes more than one!) We contracted with Weitzer for a kitchen remodel, and everything we learned to look out for when…read moredoing our due diligence ended up being done right. Being located in SE Portland, they have experience in dealing with houses that are over 100 years old (as is ours), and Weitzer's in-house cabinet shop means that they can custom build a solution for each project. From the first day, through the finishing touches, we had a lead carpenter who was here doing most of the tasks himself or with other Weitzer employees when needed, coordinating with and directing subcontractors, and communicating with the project manager who planned the remodel and created the schedule. Communication with my wife and I, and everyone else involved in the project was first rate, and a big factor in a successful, timely remodel. After they took down the plaster on the walls and ceiling and pulled up the floor, the lead carpenter consulted with other experienced Weitzer project people to make sure everyone was in agreement on planning for what to do with the hundred year old framing that they found inside. Our peace of mind at having new wiring, plumbing, and beams, studs and joists to keep everything correctly correctly supported is a, emotionally, a huge component of this job. Based on conversations with their own employees and with subcontractors, Weitzer is a good place to work, and pays their subcontractors promptly - which is apparently not always the case in the construction world. The payoff for the customer is that the employees all seem to enjoy working together for the greater good, and skilled subcontractors are willing to be flexible with the inevitable scheduling hiccups to show up when needed and keep things moving along. Since most tasks cannot be started until a previous step is complete, Weitzer's scheduling is able to be realistic, and can be trusted. There are far more moving parts to this kind of project than I could have ever predicted myself - adjusting floor joists, rerouting wiring to fit a modern lighting plan, using the right kinds of insulation for thermal or acoustic purposes, choosing paint that will stand up to the rigors of kitchen cabinet use, laser measurement for countertops, leveling the ceiling so that crown molding in different parts of the room does not interfere with cabinet doors opening and closing, matching window and door trim to other parts of the house - Weitzer's team coped with it all, and were not fazed by any of the things that could not be known until the old walls and ceiling came down. This kind of job is not cheap - but Weitzer's bid was right in line with other design-build firms that we contacted, and in watching the project as it went along, I developed an appreciation for all the components of the budget, and how they added up to the total cost, and contributed to a successful project.

I had Leitner do three big remodels on my properties. I thought that they were reputable. The last…read morejob they did for me on my home was a major renovation in our master bath, the bulk of a $90K project, removing a tub and enlarging the shower. They did something wrong, and the shower leaked very very slowly until it finally became clear that it needed repair. They came and looked at it and incorrectly guessed that our problems were caused by settling. They then ghosted me. We hired a different contractor to do the $40K repairs. I repeatedly asked Leitner to help defray some of this cost. They hid behind their warranty, essentially saying that because it was a slow leak, too much time had passed and they refused to help. It should have lasted longer than 5 years!!! Who else's fault could this be? I guess it's my fault for trusting Leitner. I urge Yelpers to not make the same mistake I made.

In December 2021 a tree fell on our home, damaging our roof, gutters, deck, and causing a leak that…read moredamaged our laminate floors. We were ghosted by one contractor and turned away by several others before we finally found Pluum Construction, and I'm so glad we did! As new homeowners, this was our first experience dealing with homeowners' insurance and we were overwhelmed to say the least. James was a phenomenal advocate in helping us understand the process and most importantly, working with our claims representative to ensure all of the repairs we needed were paid for. Altogether Pluum Construction ended up replacing half of our roof, our gutters, repairing and re-staining our deck, and installing new LVP floors throughout our home because our old floors couldn't be matched. All of the work was done beautifully! Now we feel like the tree falling was a blessing in disguise because it's like we got a surprise home renovation paid for by insurance. I really credit that to James putting in the time for repeated calls with our claims representative to explain what needed to be done to make us whole. James was extremely responsive and easy to reach through phone or text throughout the entire project. If I called him and he didn't answer, I would get a text right away letting me know he was on another call and would call me right back. His team was very friendly and we felt comfortable having them in our home. It's really obvious how much pride Pluum Construction takes in their work, and how much they care about their clients. Jorge was replaced by Sergey to do cutting for the final three days of construction and finish work. The final product was worth every minute. All of the joints were airtight. Each miter cut was exact. John is a cabinet maker and it is evident every time I look at my new windows. They were able to maintain the visual harmony of design that you find in some of your nicer 100 plus year old Craftsman houses. We initially hired CHS Construction & Remodeling to get rid of all the dated, oak wood in our house…read morewith new cabinets, doors, baseboards, trim pieces, etc. Along the way, we requested what amounted to be a full house renovation, including a new kitchen with quartz countertops, removing our fluorescent lights and replacing them with modern, recessed lighting, and a cut out in the wall with a bar top to make it feel more open and useable. Additionally, they replaced all the flooring throughout the house with LVP, new subfloors so we wouldn't need any transition strips, new toilets and fresh cabinets in the bathrooms, new hardware/handles/pulls for all the doors and cabinets, and they re-hung our TV into a new spot. They touched up paint that needed to be touched up, and small details that we requested things for, they addressed. Bruce, Izack and their entire crew were easy to work with, polite, and respectful. Finding contractors who are trustworthy is becoming harder to find these days. They even found a water leak early on in the project, and dealt with our insurance company for us and made sure everything was taken care of satisfactorily. When I met the CHS team I felt immediately comfortable with them, thought we had excellent communication, and decided they were the team for me. They've done great work on every aspect of my huge remodeling project. They've done flooring throughout my house, put in a completely new kitchen and 3 bathrooms, all plumbing and electrical, expanded my bathroom, and moved my laundry room. I'm having work done in the yard too, a retaining wall and garden are being built, and they even built me a chicken coop! They prioritized getting my ADU above my garage finished first, and I was able to rent it quickly. I've had great experiences with them and all their sub-contractors. Everyone I've met has been professional and great to work with. Since this was my first time hiring a contractor, I'm so glad I chose them! Highly recommended!

In doing so, you would think that we got all we wanted... but nope. When we started, we had a budget, a tight one. It was our very first home and we weren't sure what we needed or what we truly wanted until you're actually in it. It was finally time. We're ready to make a change. I got a few bids and was ready, it was time to go pick out some countertops and designs. Extended homes was the 2/3 that we went shopped at and got quotes on. The other two places, I will leave names out, 1 was a lot cheaper, but customer service was off. On top of that, I read some bad reviews. The 2nd spot, was a bit cheaper, about $400 but I wasn't too sure, had an off feeling about them too. Extended Homes was the most expensive, however, the service I received from Rachel made me feel so confident. To me, because of her reassuring us and the way she helped us every step of the way... she even told us not to do a few things, made me feel like she truly wants us to be happy, and not in it to make more money. Going with them before the completed look gave me peace of mind. The results.. I couldn't ask for more! Thank you Rachel and her team for the beautiful kitchen!

Also the cost estimate seemed very fair to me. The remodel of my bathroom involved demolishing everything down to the studs and removal of a jacuzzi tub. Jerry came to the house everyday to monitor  plumbing and electrical work as well as all other work to be done for the completion of the remodel. Jerry is a perfectionist and among other projects, he made sure that the tile work of my shower and floor would be perfect. I liked the fact that I was responsible for the purchase of plumbing fixtures, vanity lighting and tiles. Jerry gave me good advice on where to make these purchases at a reasonable cost. Both were always available if I had a question and their inputs on certain aspects of the remodel were an improvement on my vision. They were easy to work with and I appreciate all that they did to make this bathroom project run very smoothly. Remodeling a kitchen is a pretty major under taking, and was quite an investment for us, so we…read morewanted to go with someone we felt confident with, and after our first meeting with Jerry and Issac, (a meeting totally set around our schedule, btw) we felt like a team. Often, with contractors, after everything is signed you never see the owners again. Not the case with PPB, the owners, and project manager were there everyday, checking in, and documenting the progress. Speaking of progress, our full-kitchen remodel was finished 4 weeks ahead of schedule, and included many cool features and ideas they included in the design. PPB also greatly minimized the pain-in the butt that goes with having major construction done about ten feet from your bedroom. They sectioned off the entire work area with double sided tarp, and had lock box, so we had a lot of privacy and relatively little dust through out the job, (and left the place every night way cleaner than it was before we hired them). This kind of endeavor is never easy, there's always problems, and they handled all of them with ease and grace. (At least on our end) In fact for us, that's one of the best qualities about PPB is that they soak up all the headaches involved in a project of this scope; permits, inspections, a multitude of (borderline unreasonable) requests from their clients, all taken care of with a "no problem" attitude. And our kitchen looks better than we ever imagined. Highly recommend.
