My dealership quoted me $700 for brake work that needed " immediate attention " after a routine oil change inspection. I came to Brakes Plus for a second opinion and they quoted me $400. Came in for my appointment today and a second tech looked at my brakes again and advised that I did not need a new caliper as originally quoted, instead my caliper pins could be re-lubricated and work just fine. This brought my quote down to $150! I am a woman who always dreaded anything dealing with car repairs but these people are honest, sincere, and funny. Very honest business! I made an appointment and arrived about 5 minutes early. Was greeted by a friendly employee and my car was in the garage and going up on the lift right on time. I was so impressed by how amazing the customer service was at this auto shop. I made my appointment online this morning with no issues whatsoever. It was quick and easy to do. I was helped by Brad and he was the kindest person. He gave me a free brake check and let me know that my front brake pads needed to be changed. He didn't try and hassle me into spending more money than I needed to. He showed me my options and some additional services if I wanted to do them. The pricing was extremely fair and they also have coupons on their website you can redeem when checking out. I have just started going to brakes plus, to be honest I first went to get an alignment on on of my cars. While I was there they gave me a quote for a clutch replacement for my 98 ranger, but the best part about that quote is that it was almost $400 less than what other shops told me. So I said ok let's do it. Came out fantastic. So I asked them if they could give me a quote on a AC repair they said sure, but I also had a different shop quote it as well. Brakes Plus quoted me $210, while AMMCO in Plano quoted my $430. The auto techs at brakes plus are good at what they do, and they fix the part instead of scraping it and getting a new one. But out of all of this I got a one day turn around on all of my repairs. read more

Brakes Plus has changed management staff or policies the last 2 years from an honest car repair to a price gouging, dishonest, lazy business. I am saying this to warn others. Do NOT take your car there unless you have an extra $800 around that you don't need. I have taken my car there 3 times over the last year for the same reason and paid $800 each time!! It just happens that the problem was a "different hose" like the car has 4 different coolant hoses. They apparently replaced the wrong ones and would not admit it. This is my second time going and I really appreciate how I never feel like I'm getting sold on services I don't need. Went in to get my 2017 Mazda taken care of for the routine 45000 mile checkup and suggested that the transmission fluid might need replacing (rule of thumb I had always been told). Rather than replacing it upfront and charging me $150 for it, Jason and the crew inspected it and found it wasn't necessary at the time which saved me money. I needed new brakes and rotors and I did not have very much money. I knew I needed the front brakes and rotors fixed so I went to Brakes Plus. They did a test drive on it and to my dismay I also needed the back brakes and rotors fixed. When one of the guys told me that I needed all of that fixed I didn't know what to do. I do NOT have a lot of money and this wasn't a luxury car so could not pay for all of that work. He told me it was unsafe for me to continue to drive my vehicle and I told him that I couldn't afford to get that much work done. Horrible experience, I took my car for an alignment last week, this place was recommended by discount tire in park and k ave, Plano. The mechanic offered me to fix many things he found wrong with my car. I tool him, thank but I fix the car myself, I only need the alignment done. He insisted, the alternator is the first thing it will go bad if you do not replaced and your car will stop suddenly. I told him not thanks, I replaced the alternator a year ago, it was perfect. At the next day, the car stops on the rode in Arlington. Three hours later! I realized the alternator fuse has disappear. When the battery got fully discharged, the car stop functioning. The mechanic took the fuse out on porpoise. I know this for a fact, I am the only person driving this car. Do not take your car here, this is not way to create business, bad people, dishonest. I did not call to ask for anything in return of this car manipulation. I am not going back there ever again. By smart, do the same. read more

A few months ago we started bringing our cars here for brakes/oil changes. Since that smart decision we have had a lot of work on our Lexus and Tahoe. While it stinks to have to fix cars and repair the problems it's a necessity and these guys give honest advice and charge much less than others we compared them to. Brad actually told us our brakes were fine but the timing belt was rotten. It had never been replaced in 12 years so made sense. Last week our ballon shocks went out in my wife's Lexus. I took it next door to Drivers Edge-Plano and their "parts" price was obviously padded since Brad of Brakes Plus charged us a total price of $680 (labor included) versus the "parts price" of $775 before labor cost. Been getting my oil change here for over a year now. The guys here are super friendly and welcoming. I usually get coupons in the mail for $7 off oil changes (becomes $19.99 for regular, $49.99 for synthetic). Even better is that with the oil changes, you can get mail in rebates from Valvoline, usually $15 off any service at that particular Brakes Plus location. Now you can't combine the $7 coupon with the rebate to get a super cheap oil change, but you can apply the $15 to other services. Dishonest!! We took our truck in to get an estimate on getting the brakes replaced and were given a price of $129. It was too busy that day (it was a Saturday) so we decided to go back during the week as they suggested. When we went back today for the exact same work we were quoted on Saturday, we were again told $129. The rotors looked fine and just the pads needed to be replaced. The tech tried to sell us porcelain pads but we told him we could only afford the economy pads at $129 since we have a daughter getting married soon. When he asked again with a discount on the porcelain we AGAIN told him we could only afford the price we were quoted! However when it came time to pay the price almost TRIPLED! WHY?? Why on earth would brake pads cost almost $350?!?!? We were told the original price did not include labor. So more than $200 in labor?? By the time we were given the total the job was almost done and after we threw a fit explaining FOR THE THIRD TIME we could only afford the price we were quoted, they would only come down to $266. A couple years ago we had all four brakes AND rotors replaced for $400 at a mom & pop shop. Who are they kidding with a price of $350 for a simple brake job?!?! We will never be back!! And we will make sure everyone we know never goes there. read more

I work on my cars and needed an alignment from someone who would do a good job without trying to up sell me on work that I know I don't need. I try to avoid the "lifetime" alignment places because I am concerned they would not do quality work after several "free" alignments. On the other hand, I don't want to spend a lot of money each time I get an alignment because I want to align my car frequently. Jason and Bobby met my needs. They were very personable. They know cars and they understood my concerns. Even with less (car) knowledgeable customers, Jason let them know about future concerns (like wear on brake pads) without pressuring them into buying something now. Bobby knew the intricacies of my car and spent the time that I hoped he would on the alignment. My experience exceeded my expectations (which are high). They worked with me to make my repair more affordable. They beat firestones prices any day. For example, I needed new c.v axles put on my vehicle. Originally I was satisfied but after bringing the car back to them saying the check engine light was back and the same issues were occurring again, they told me they had no idea what I was referring to because they don't keep notes and Jeff, the guy who worked with us first, is no longer at this location. This second time they were extremely rude and a guy named Jeremy came out to discuss the details with me when I picked up my car. He was so rude, blowing off things I was saying and aggressively interrupting me while I was talking, that I felt uncomfortable because I didn't even go in with an attitude. They didn't bring my car around the front or anything either, I had to aimlessly search for it. Apparently they were upset they made mistakes all around and Jeremy felt the need to talk very abrasively to a young woman and imply I'm a liar. Good for you Brakes Plus. Hit a curve big time and my car was all over the street. Steering wheel was off about 15 degrees and it was pulling hard to the left. Something was bent obviously, but they tried their best to do the alignment. When it was done, my car felt like new. I did an alignment at McKinney NTB last Spring based on Yelp reviews, but this place is better and cheaper. When I was done at NTB, steering wheel was still not centered. It was about 2-3 degrees off. Get $10 off coupon in their website and you are good to go. I just showed the coupon on my phone, they got the code off it and got the discount with no problem. I got there 10 min before they opened, but they took care of my car right away. Everyone was friendly and waiting room was clean. We have been going here for a few years until we decided to get our brakes changed. I drive a mini van that carries precious cargo, MY GRAND CHILDREN !!! After we left and paid almost $300, There was a noise coming from the van... felt funny driving and I looked around and couldn't find anything at first. I left one morning and I could hardly turn my wheel, so we stopped and looked again and to my surprise my wheel was touching my van side. In shock, I drove back to Brakes Plus and recorded them looking at my tires. While walking to my car, I asked them if it would be dangerous to been the road if a brake caliper wasn't put on all they way, he agreed that yes, it would be dangerous and a wreck could happen. I showed him the wheel and he said well lets look at it, so they brought it in and THEY LEFT A BOLT OUT OF THE CALIPER !!!!! It was hanging and rubbing my wheel !!!  I could NOT believe my eyes. He apologized but that was it. Didn't act like it was a big deal and seemed very uncaring. I will NEVER go back to this place!!! read more

Go here and AVOID ROWLETT LOCATION AT ALL COSTS!! I am a little late with my review but the guys here are awesome. I had a terrible experience with the rowlett location where they tried to overcharge me for parts by almost double the cost and recommend repairs I didn't actually need. I called the Plano location just to ask about the cost of the parts and as I expected, they quoted me a price for the parts which was nearly $300 less than the rowlett location quoted and very comparable to prices online. I took my car in the next day. Service was prompt, they were very informative and even let me look at what was wrong with my car so I'd know exactly what I was paying for. After hearing about my experience at the rowlett location they ensured that I had a positive experience here. It's hard being a single female and taking your car to a shop and getting honest service. I've been through that more than once. The guys at brakes plus in Plano will definitely get my business again!!! read more
