I went to a location a few months ago to get my spark plugs and oil change. When I picked up my car it sounded strange when it started. I went back two separate times to figure out what was wrong with my car, and they told me they do not do engine work, and I ended up going to the dealership. I was told the wrong oil; oil filter and spark plugs were put in my car. This resulted in me not having my car for almost two weeks and cost me over $2200 in repairs and other costs. Do not go here, I tried several times reaching out to get my car looked at before going to the dealership and even playing several videos on my phone with how my car sounded and they still refused to look over my car. If I could give this place zero stars I absolutely would. read more

This use to be a great location. Not so much. I've been unhappy with them for several appts. I keep trying to give them a chance as they use to be good. Employee retention (front desk) not stable- I like to make a relationship with my service person. Often I show up with an appt and told that we only have 2 mechanics- xyz all called in (yes this has happened 3x in the last year; I've been lied to- don't get me started; belittled because I am female and don't know anything (however knew more than the front desk person....); and today a simple oil change told 90 mins with an appt because not enough employees but they take appts seriously..... at 75 mins- my car hasn't moved an inch and i asked for my keys back and they reminded that they are real mechanics not just oil and lube and my car was just pulled in- I told them it was not- unless it just happened in the last 39 seconds , and then they said my car will be next the mechanic was just finishing up on X car and had x to do on tires; so let me get this straight you tell me 90 mins and you don't even start work on it until the 90 mins... no one came to talk to me say at the 45 min mark to say hey sorry we are behind - we r not gonna make it- is that okay. Drove to another shop as a walk in and they already are working on my car ( 15 mins after I left your shop) . No it's not just an oil and lube shop- thank you very much. read more

Amazing Customer Service in a time of need! I had some issues with my 2014 Chevy Cruze; it had broke down a few blocks down and I wasn't sure what I could do from there. I was able to give BrakeMax a call to see if I could at least have it towed to their location to keep my vehicle in a safe place. Hector was able to negotiate with me a reasonable pay schedule that was convenient given my circumstances and he was also able to offer having my vehicle diagnosed so I can wrap my head around what the issue could be with my Vehicle. They were able to give me an accurate diagnosis of the situation the very next day for a very fair price and now I'm steered in the correct direction for keeping my car maintained. Gave them a call in the afternoon and they were able to get someone to come straight to my house to do a chip repair next morning! Scott Faulkner who is the director of this business came out himself to give service. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and explained everything I needed to know clearly. He worked quickly and even gave my whole windshield a nice clean - it's sparkling now! I included a picture, but you can barely see any sign of repair in it! I circled it for anyone trying to find it. I couldn't recommend this business more, plus the price was right as they were cheaper than Safelight was offering (though I'd rather give my money to a smaller local place anyway!). Last week I encountered the absolute best auto/truck service that I've every experienced in my 73 years on this planet. Hector and his crew of dedicated professionals managed to keep my anxiety in check while they worked through a very vexing brake issue on my 1997 Dodge Ram Commuter Van. The mechanic that I used in the S.F. Bay area did a very shoddy job, I was scheduled to return and wanted the situation corrected for my safe passage. I've gone to Brake Max for The last 4 oil changes and minor maintenance. At the First and River location. (Whose customer service has been superior). But I was so disappointed with my service at this Thornydale location. The customer service of the cashier was so awful. Although she was nice, she was not able to provide me any real information about my questions. And when the work was completed she extremely vaguely explained the work to me that was done. At the other location the mechanic that worked on my car or the front desk person ALWAYS explains in details what was done with my car. I'm not even sure what they did or didn't do yesterday. Was my fluids topped off or filled? What kind of brakes did I get? Did they flush my breaks? They didn't even tell me the check engine light was on. Did you rotate my tires? I then took my car to Jack Furrier's down the street on Ina and only paid $400 and they were able to turn the two front rotors after all and included a flush. The honesty of the Brake Max team saved us hundreds of dollars. I was told, quite clearly, by Midas on Ina Rd. that my brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. I called around for a better price, and ended up coming to Brake Max to have the job done. When they inspected the brake assembly, however, they found that both the pads and rotors were fine, and suggested instead that I simply resurface the rotors to get rid of the squeaking and shaking. Brake Max could have gone ahead and replaced everything just like I asked them, but instead, they were honest and only recommended the service I actually needed. They had to order a new windshield from the dealership. I ordered the window on a Thursday. I was told that the windshield would be in on Saturday and be installed on Monday between 1 and 5. I called them at 4:30 because I hadn't heard from anyone. I was then told that my window didn't come in on Saturday. After waiting 4 HOURS for someone to show up. Emily was very apologetic that no one had called me on Saturday. I was supposed to get the windshield by 12:00 the next day. He finally showed up at 1:40. The windshield is fine. So if you have nothing to do but sit around waiting for a service person use this company. If your time is important I would go somewhere else. read more

These guys are really great. I had to replace the windshield on our 2007 Kia Sorento and did not have glass coverage so would have to pay out of pocket. So I called 3 different auto glass companies including the one you see advertised all the time to get the best deal. Being new to Tucson, I'm concerned about the new conditions that my vehicle is exposed to (extreme heat and bumpy, if not dirt roads). My 92 Dodge Stealth R/T has only 50k miles on it, and is in great condition--a condition in which I'd like to keep it. I took my car to Brakemax #4 as my car needed an alignment and rotation. I stopped by their shop and made an appointment for the next morning. I was late the next morning, called to notify them, and they were perfectly accommodating. Once they put it on the lift they told me that I needed new tie rods. Their concern was that the alignment might be for naught if my tie rods were to go bad. I was skeptical, but had noticed a shuttering during hard acceleration and supposed it could be due to this. He quoted me a price in addition to the requested services and I agreed. They were able to get the parts there within 10 minutes. A few hours later, my car was serviced and returned to me. The first thing that I noticed was that the shuttering during hard acceleration was gone. The car was aligned as well and tires rotated. After driving for a few days, I felt that my car was still pulling slightly to the right. I took it back to express that I wasn't satisfied with the results of the alignment. They put it back on their machine, tested it, and assured me that the alignment was dead-on. I thanked them for it and left. Still, I felt that it was off, so I went back and requested that they drive it again and see for themselves. One of their personnel took it on a flat surface and it seemed to be performing fine, and that the culprit might be the crowning in the roads, or that I might have 'directional tires' (tires that must be rotated front to back rather than side to side). At the end of the day, my car doesn't feel well-aligned, but I suppose it is and I'll just have to deal with the conditions as they are. Nevertheless, I have no reason to believe that they didn't do everything they could as far as giving me an accurate alignment goes. They didn't once attempt to charge me for re-checking the alignment, and they were very courteous and helpful throughout the process. read more

They were incredibly proactive in reaching out to my insurance agency with me in a three way call and getting all my stuff quickly resolved.
