I came in for a scheduled oil change at 9AM. It's 10:45AM now and they're telling me it will be another hour. This place is busy and they are doing they're best but I'm not giving a place repeat business for scheduling a 9AM appointment to not even be working on it 1.5 hours later. Charged $800 to replace fans said that was the cause of overheating, a week later the overheating happened again this time the radiator and thermostat blew. Turns out it was the head gasket and could have been fixed earlier. read more

This is the best place ever. Oscar the manager is incredible. He makes sure everything with your car is safe and explains everything out to you. They're good honest people here which is great because you never know when you take your car in what the price may be. I've taken mine in twice and both times I've been ecstatic with the service I've received. Went to go get my oil changed, they noticed there was lots of oil leaking. I was aware of this from Desert Toyota telling me a seal by the engine is leaking and it would cost me 3400 and some change. So Brake Masters put some dye in the oil and told me to come back in two days, did that and they fixed it for $119, no more oil leakage. I just found my perpetual oil changer ^_~.v. read more

Not fast. I would even say: "super slow". I didn't want to wait long for a simple oil change so I took the very first appointment of the day. I wanted to ensure there was not a backup of earlier customers. They were already open when I arrived - right on time for my appointment. There were three guys who appeared to be standing around ready to start the day - including the guy behind the desk. The guy said: "I'll have you out of here in 45 minutes." And it only took 5 minutes to provide my information, hand over the keys and head out the door to Starbucks. I returned after 40 minutes later (45 minutes from the beginning of my appointment) and I saw that they were still adding oil. What, exactly, had they been doing, I wonder? I later found out they hadn't even started the complimentary tire rotation. I sat in the waiting room for another 15 minutes until I could finally leave with my car. There was not a word of apology about the 45 minute wait turning into an hour. Does it honestly take that long to change oil? Maybe it is time I start a local "9-minute Oil & Lube" business myself like I used to visit back in California? read more

Oscar is the manager whom I have known for over 20 years. He is awesome and is honest. I had a problem with being overcharged with an ecoupon on a brake job. He corrected it and refunded me $20. I will only use his location on Speedway and Pantano. I've had issues with other Brake Masters locations in the past of saying I needed repairs or parts that I didn't need. CAUTION!!! I recently scheduled an appointment to have an alignment on my truck. They told me that they could do it first thing in the morning if I would have my truck there before 815. I arrived at 8:10. I was told that they would put it on the rack by 830 and it should be done at least by 10 o'clock. I hadn't heard anything by noon so I called. They told me that they had not put it on the rack yet. I told him I had someplace to be at 5 PM and I need it back before then. I called back at 2 o'clock and I had not put it on the rack and called back again at 4 o'clock and they still had not put it on the rack. He told me that he could have it for me by 5 o'clock which is the time that my event started. at that point there was no time for them to do the alignment and for me to reliably take delivery of the truck and get to my event. I told him how disappointing I was. When I arrived at the shop at 4:20 PM. He still had another truck on the rack. I asked him why he would have me bring in my truck at 8:10 and tell me it would be done within two hours if he can't get it done in a whole day. I got a blank stare. I told him I put on 60 miles on my vehicles going back-and-forth not to mention all the wasted time. He was courteous, but completely unhelpful. I won't be back. read more

Beware this location, they are simply out to take your money no matter what! I had them check my vehicle as it was making a weird noise from the front end, they "determined" it needed new tie rods along with a new steering rack as supposedly they could only complete the work together totaling over $4,000! I decided for that much I should get a second opinion so I took it to the local dealer who determined that this was all fine and it was actually the ball joint close to breaking that I was hearing, the dealer stated that even if it needed tie rods that could be completed without the need for a new steering rack saving thousands of dollars! Strange thing was that while I was getting my vehicle checked at this location another customer picked up his vehicle that just had its steering rack replaced, possibly a coincidence if you believe in those? My point is that if something doesn't seem right always get a second opinion before spending thousands of dollars! read more

I purchased new tires from Discount Tires on E Tanque Verde, just west of Kolb.....and asked about getting a front end alignment....they gave me a discount coupon sheet to Brake Masters, and was specifically steered to the one on E Speedway and Pantano.....Clean shop, talked with Oscar, and we passed on the info required.....coupon was honored, I walked over to Jack in The Box for a quick lunch, came back the job was done, for the price agreed to....and no add on's were suggested...? Yesterday, 3,000 miles later, stopped in for an oil change, tire rotate, and radiator flush.....Dealt with younger guy, obviously Oscar's back up....got the asked for job done....and no add on's were suggested.. I appreciate the non aggressive auto repair shops...and finally found one....You now have another return customer.....Thanks for the very good service, and not trying to sell stuff that is not needed.... read more

We came here about one month ago for a simple oil change and tire rotation (included in the price). I don't know that one oil change varies that much from the next, but per my husband it took about an hour and a half--likely normal amount of time. The one star review here comes in reference to the tire rotation--and specifically because the gross negligence here put my safety and the safety of my family (including two small children) at risk. When the staff informed my husband that the car was done, he asked about the tires (were they rotated? Look ok otherwise?). We had a sensor go off and had noticed some pulling. The staff person said they had looked at the tires and that the wear "looked great" and no tire rotation was needed. It had been about 5000 miles since the last rotation... I was furious when my husband told me this. They needed to be rotated and the "wear was even" line sounded to me like they either forgot to do it and didn't want to go back, or they just didn't feel like doing it. I know better, but my husband trusts. I took it to Jack Furrier's to get a second opinion a few weeks later. The manager there was appalled. He said the tires absolutely needed rotation, and in fact replacement. He showed me the tread length, and he was correct. We ended up getting new tires--and I'm so grateful we didn't take our road trip on the word that our tires "looked great". read more

Let me tell you - this is my 2nd dealings with a Brake Masters in Tucson - and I will highly recommend this company to anybody looking for an honest place for car care. I had received from a friend a gift certificate to BrakeMax which is located right across the street. I brain-farted and accidentally dropped my car off at Brake Masters along with my gift certificate. Guess what? They honored my gift certificate! This has become my go-to place for oil changes and brakes. They do good work and they get my car done quickly. I usually go here on Saturdays and it can get pretty busy. I always make an appointment, and they're very good about getting my car in. The waiting area is nice and the restrooms are clean. However, I usually walk across the street while I wait. The Fry's plaza has a Starbucks and a nail salon, where I can get coffee or a pedicure while I wait. Brake Masters is always happy to call me when my car is ready so I can walk back over. They always find something else they recommend replacing, but it's usually a legitimate piece of maintenance and they're very polite if I say no thanks. They don't resort to high pressure and scare tactics. Once they noticed a problem with my tires while rotating them. They don't repair tires themselves, but they still pointed it out so I could go to a tire shop to get it fixed. I appreciated that. I can't believe this location and the one on Valencia are part of the same company. This one is so much better, it's a night-and-day difference. read more

These guys are out to steal your money. Please save your money and stay far away. After bringing my car in for a simple oil change, every 5 minutes the assistant manager Danny would come out saying something is wrong. One of which was that I needed new brakes. He said I had 20% or less left and I told him I would not be getting them replaced at that time. You could tell he was getting frustrated that I was turning down all of his services, which wouldve totaled about $400. Afterwards, I found a great deal on brakes and took it to another shop a day later. I dropped if off and received a phone call saying that my brakes were in absolutely no condition to be replaced, having more than 50% left. The other parts that brake masters was wanting to replace were also in no condition to be replaced. I am shocked that these guys would be trying to rip off their customers, as their manager has always been accommodating in the past and it was my go-to place. It's safe to say that they have lost a customer, and I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone else--especially if you're a young female. What they tried to do to me was wrong in every aspect. read more

Took my car here to be inspected and they tried to get me to spend $300 to change the inside door lock. The only thing wrong with it was that I sometimes had to press it twice to lock it, but it worked. In fact now that I have been testing it, it has started working perfectly again for a while. read more

Oscar was super nice. I went in for an oil change and my car is riding smooth. They showed me my air filter and it was really dirty and didn't mind paying an extra $16 for them to change it. Brake masters even fixed a part that was hanging from the front of my car with no extra charged. I appreciated that a lot and was very nice of them to do that. This was my first time going to BrakeMasters and they will be receiving my business from here, onward. Michael greeted me as soon as I walked in the door and helped me get started. My car was being worked on within 10 minutes. During my stay, Michael was very kind and knowledgeable. We talked with me about vehicle maintenance and our hometowns, this made my stay seem so much shorter than it was. But anytime a customer would walk in, he would welcome them and provide the same hospitality and knowledge. Solid customer service!! read more

This morning I brought in my car to have the front end alignment do on my car. I had a coupon for $39.95 for that service. I also had them do an oil change for $19.95 with a coupon. While waiting for my car they came out with a document with several other items that needed work totaling well over $1000.00. I declined those services. When the car was finished I was told the total was $81.08. I asked them to explain since I had figured the price to be more like $70. Seems they not only aligned the front end as ask they also chose to align the back end that I had not authorized. Seems the car took 1/2 a quart more of oil than the 6 quarts covered by the coupon and they had to install a more expensive oil filter without advising me. I was extremely disappointed by the way the way they were willing to charge me for a service I did not ask for. I will not return to the for future service and will not recommend them to my friends or anyone else. It is a shame that they are not willing to listen to what the custom wants and provide only the service requested. read more

I was so excited when this location opened because I live down the road from them and went in because of the special price they had for an oil change. The guys were really nice and the place was very clean. After my oil change was done, they let me know of the problems they found on other parts of my car but they didn't make me feel uncomfortable about not using their services. They gave me a punch card and told to me how it worked. Fast forward to my next oil change. I decided to go to the location on 22nd and kolb because I was in that area and my oil change needed to be done BAD. That location was horrible. I could not wait to leave as soon as I got there. The men made me feel very uncomfortable and vulnerable that I decided to wait outside. When the mechanic was done he told me my total would be $28 and I asked him why I didn't get the price that was stated on the outside sign ( I think it was $15) he said he already gave me a "managers special" of $10 off. I gave him my punch card and he said he wouldn't give me a punch because that was only for "full service oil changes" I told him the location on speedway and Pantano were the ones who gave me my first punch on the discounted oil change and he told me they shouldn't have honored that. The more he talked to me the more uncomfortable I felt so I decided to just leave. I called the location I went to last time and I spoke with Cliff and went over prices. He said they should not have charged me more than what was advertised but that he would look into it. He was so nice and professional and said he would talk to his manager. The manager Oscar called me and left a voicemail. I tried returning his call and spoke with Cliff again and he stated that his manger also was in shock that they would charge me the wrong price and the next time I need to get my oil change to just go to the Pantano and speedway location and they would take care of it for free. I was very pleased with the service I received, they were quick efficient and did not try and sell me services I didn't need. It was the first time I'd gone to get an oil change and I wasn't presented with some dirty piece of machinery in an effort to convince me some part needed replacement/flushing/refiltering, etc. I got an oil change without hassle, without unnecessary addons, and without feeling like I'd be disrespected. OMG, go anywhere but Brake Masters. They will NOT DO A GOOD JOB servicing or diagnosing your brakes or ANYTHING else about your vehicle!!! I wouldn't even let them change your oil, something WILL go wrong. Spent over $700 for an alternator which did not solve my charging/dead battery problem, a friend of mine said, one of your batteries is no good, (I have a diesel, uses two batteries), I didn't need an alternator, just a new battery. How could a mechanic misdiagnose that? When I confronted them about this issue they flatly denied any wrong doing and WOULD NOT talk to me any further! Please, do yourself a favor and go anywhere else for brake work or auto repairs!!! read more

Such helpful people, from rides home to helping get the groceries from Frys to the vehicle (grocery shopping while waiting) because I'm mobility challenged!
