I asked that they credit my card back and I also called their Corporate Office for a resolution. I was told that I would hear back within a couple days and now it's been five days. Quoted me more than double the hours in the labor guide. They couldn't find it in their resources (other shops could), so they called the dealership, who quoted them on work which was not the same work I'd asked them to do (which I tried to explain to them), then inspected the car and stuck with the quote of more than double the 4 hours in the labor guide. If it would genuinely take them more than double the hours to do the work, then they are incompetent. If not, and they just wanted to stick to a quote more than 2x as much as the labor guide, then they're thieves taking advantage of customers who don't know any better. Be warned. read more

I was given a free oil change card last visit after waiting 3 hours for an oil change I was told would be no longer than 30 minutes. Apparently that manager is no longer with the company. The new manager took it upon himself to say that the company is not responsible for their former employee's commitments. He took the card and told me I wouldn't be getting my free oil change. I told him to just give me my keys then. I wrote their corporate headquarters, and let them know how shady this guy was. I would stay away this establishment. read more

We brought our car there a few weeks ago, bought new breaks, and everyone was polite, professional, and fast. What AMAZED me was we brought our car there today because the steering wheel was moving to the left and right without anyone touching it when we drove at low speeds. Rather than charge us anything, Tony recommended we go to Discount Tire because it sounded like a tire problem and didn't want us to waste money at Brake Masters if it wasn't going to fix the problem. Rick and his crew saved me over $1,000 today. My headlamps were aiming wrong and I took my car in to have them adjusted. The dealership told me that my headlight adjustment screws were stripped and the only option was to replace both headlight assemblies. $1,240 for parts and $420 for labor (3 hours) on a 16 year old car. Rick at Brake Masters agreed that the adjustment screws are stripped but his mechanic was able to re-aim the misaligned bulb anyway, for $58. He also said that if I decided to go ahead and replace that one headlight assembly, I could get the part online($460) and he would charge about $75 to install it and credit me the $58 I already paid. The staff is friendly and helpful here! On my last visit I had my tires rotated. When I ran over a nail and popped a tire four months later I discovered that the bolts for two lug nuts had been cross-threaded. Two bolts broke off as a result and I was furious!! When I returned to Brake Masters I was treated with patience and respect. They took a look, admitted that there was sufficient evidence to show that they had made a mistake, and they fixed it free of charge! I really appreciate it when people take responsibility for their mistakes. The friendly staff made me feel like I was more than just a name in their appointment book. I just recently downloaded yelp, which is a rare thing for me. I have no facebook, MySpace, Twitter or any other social media. I got it specifically for this brake masters review a week or so ago. And i downloaded it again to drop the rating and warn whomever goes to this place. Tanque Verde and kolb brake masters store #116. The other week, i bought new tires and since I hadn't had an alignment done in a couple years, and I received a coupon for 40% off at brake masters, I had one done. Less than 24 hours later, my ebrake, trac, and abs light all had illuminated while my girl was driving. She pulled over and called me at work. I then had to call up a friend to pick her up and tow the car home. I parked it and walked the 4+Miles to work for the last couple weeks. I am finally getting around to looking at the car and hoping it was just a sensor that got knocked out of alignment or dirt/crud covering the sensors, I found that my hopes dashed to find that the tie rods were twisted causing the c.v.boot to tear and rip apart. Finding this, I started from where they had to, which is at the tires. I had found that when they removed the wheels, they used a socket size too big and damaged the outside of the nuts and snapped off a wheel stud. I just replaced the studs and nuts last year when I installed new brake pads, calipers and resurfaced the rotors. Im a bit scared to start inspecting past the tires to the rest of the front end to see if they have broken anything else. To the smidge of + credit they do get, goes to that the car drove straight when I left the lot which is negated by the fact they broke other parts. Now I'm going to have to pay out of pocket for the damage they caused to my car. Looking back, I paid as well as tipped the guy $20 to break things on my car. *I basically rewarded them for doing shoddy and F-ed up work. Now this is causing me to disconnect my swaybar, steering knuckle, tie rods and everything else to install new c.v. boots and bands, and replace anything else that breaks while doing this, before the joints and bearing lock up; completely F-ing up the rest of the front end and differential. The work they did is now going to cause me alot more money, time and energy not including still having to walk the 4+ miles to work and then back everyday. I'm not a certified mechanic, but I've installed my own transmission, radiator and hosses, wheel bearings, rear quarter windows, and other items on my pt cruiser. On a 92 firebird T-top, I've replaced a collapsed lifters, water pump, collapsed valves and other things with help a help from a mechanic friend. 94 Thunderbird had to fix egr no flow. the egr valve on 94 T-bird is between the firewall and the engine block right almost dead center which requires either removing the pcm and wiring harnesses and intake, fuel lines, injectors etc, or going from underneath and removing the exhaust manifold and then dropping the transmission a couple inches. Not an easy task at all whichever way u go. I have always done my own basic alignments on every car that I've had, and every couple years I'll get it computer alligned. Since this car hasn't had a computer alignment in a couple years, *it veered off to the left a bit, and I came across a 40%off coupon for brakemasters, I went to store #116 which is the Tanque Verde and kolb location in Tucson Arizona. I'll be notifying them about the type of work, the damage and habits and practices of the employee If they don't or won't do anything to pay for the labor, shop and parts for the damage they caused. *I definitely won't be getting any work done at any of their stores, so most likely I'll have to buy the parts and bring them a copy of the receipts so they can cut a check*. if they don't/wont, i'll be notifying the b.b.b., as well as making sure their rating on any public forums I come across get dropped to a star and stay that way till they are forced to close. Their ethics, morals, personal courage and basic mechanics knowledge seem to be nonexistent with the people here. If it was within my power, I would raze the store to the ground as well as the workers homes. They should be ashamed of their quality of work, ethics and practices they have. Since they don't, it's safe to say that they don't care for about the the lives they endanger, from faulty brake work. I AM grateful I didn't get my brakes checked here, which I was thinking about since the wheels had to come off. So if anyone has or plans to get their brakes done there, I wouldn't let any family or friends ride in that vehicle until it gets inspected by a reputable company, because this business and their practices are far from it. read more

I took my 2001 Toyota Avalon with 135,000 miles on it in to this place. It was missing and the check engine light was on. I assumed it needed a tuneup. I paid $89 for a diagnostic and they told me that it needed major engine work at a cost of $900. They could not guarantee that it would fix the problem. They said the cylinders where bad. I took it to another mechanic and he changed the plugs and fuel injector for $350 and it passed emissions and runs great. An Honest Break my rear end! read more

BY FAR THE WORST SERVICE EVER, SHANE THE ASSISTANT MANAGER IS UNPROFESSIONAL & RUDE...Please take down the sign that says "Honest Brake" I scheduled an appointment with Shane to service all four brakes. The price was high (higher than Big O Tires down the street) but because of the great online reviews my wife and I decided to go with Brake Masters. Shane gave us a maximum 1.5 hour time frame. Because I had to be at work, my pregnant wife and 2 year old son would have to take the truck in. The time was perfect and we agreed to it because my son also had a doctors appointment and there was enough time for my wife and son to pick me up from work and we would go to the appointment. During the date of service I was at work but I was in contact with SHANE and JD over the phone throughout the process, beginning with the diagnosis from the inspection. Following the diagnosis i agreed to get the car serviced. SHANE ensured us that the time frame would indeed be a max of 1.5 hours... Well, Fast forward 1 hour and 45 minutes: The car is up, the wheels are off, an they're getting ready to put on the new brake pads. However, they discover that they ordered brake pads that are too big, and they were too lazy to pay attention to the detail. I spoke with SHANE on the phone and let him know about our time constraints (son was about to miss doctors appointment and my pregnant wife was stressing over the appointment while at the same time trying to keep containment of my 2 year old hyper son) and he simply tells me "Well it happens, I don't now what else to say"....No apology, nothing!!! He responded as if this was a normal incident and he didn't even care. So I spoke with the store manager JD. JD apologized and tried to guarantee that the brake pads would arrive in the next 5-10 minutes....which he had no idea of because the brakes came waaay later. I was offered a "ride" to take my wife and son to appointment, which didn't make sense because no matter what my son would have to miss his appointment that we waited nearly two weeks out for an opening. Why would you offer a "ride" to take someone to a missed appointment? Why would I trust SHANE, who was rude and didn't care about the situation and who had also been smoking his vape freely at his will, to go somewhere with my pregnant wife and 2 year old son in the car? JD offered me a shuttle from work but that didn't make sense...by the time id be picked up and dropped off, the supposed appointment would've been missed and over....they kept telling my wife "10 minutes, 5 minutes, 5 more minutes, almost done just a few more minutes, once the brakes get here it will be 5 minutes..." The total appointment lasted 4 Hours!!!!!!!! Brake Masters is at fault for the stress, lies, mistakes, and long process....but while on the phone with SHANE who happens to be an ASSISTANT MANAGER, no apology.....
