Went in for a fuel system code and they fixed it pronto. I was thinking it would be a horrible bill as the Jeep dealership warned me but they were wrong. I'm so happy with significantly less cost for an injector replacement. I went here because of an ad on the radio. Now I am looking at the reviews and there is no way these are legit. Sadly, the lefties in this town will try and destroy a business because of politics and judge someone on race and politics. As it turns out, I had been a loyal customer of a previous shop they ran almost 20 years ago and loved that one too. I did my research back then too! Service was very sub-par but that's not the sole reason for a review. The owner of this company (Mark) was very rude. He didn't let me finishing asking questions before talking over me and giving me an answer that still left my question un-answered. If the work backed up the confidence of Mark maybe I wouldn't have to write a review but very disappointing leaving the shop to still need work done when they said it was good. I've known Mark for many years and he comes off like he is a religious, wonderful, happy go lucky regular guy, but then his true colors come out! I ordered an A C unit from him and he said in two weeks it would arrive. Two weeks come and go. I call him as any other customer would, asking about the unit. Now the MASTER of Excuses starts, as the odyssey of lies begins! After no less than a dozen of Mark's excuses and lies, the A C unit never arrives and to this day I was never told why I never got the unit or apologized to. In almost everything you read or hear from Mark, GOD is always mentioned. When you read about Mark's business he is quoted with "a lot of prayer" and "Griffith Automotive where Integrity Matters!" In the Bible, Proverbs 21:6: says "A fortune made by lying lips is a fleeting vapor and a snare of death."; while Revelation 21:8 lists liars among those who will not inherit eternal life. This business deserves ZERO stars. My husband and I picked up an '84 Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue in January 2020 from a little old lady whose husband had passed. Beautiful, clean, luxury car from the 80s that had been protected from the elements as much as possible in Tucson - always in the garage when not being driven. There were a couple of issues that we took care of immediately (new battery & alternator although we found out it didn't need the battery so we stored it in the trunk). We wanted to ensure that the car was safe and wouldn't have any breakdowns so we took it to Griffith Automotive to replace belts, hoses, plugs etc. Gave them $1,000 cash to cover all the work and told Mark (Griffith's owner) to let us know if they find anything that the $1,000 wouldn't cover. This was on Feb. 5, 2020. After a few weeks, Mark told my husband that when taking things apart in the car, his guys broke the fuel rail. From that point until last week we have heard every excuse in the book as to why the car is not done. Excuses ranged from can't find the part (fuel rail), checking all over the US, Canada and Mexico for the part, having someone in Tucson make the part, that person making the part got Covid and was in the hospital, that person died, that person's wife sold the shop with everything in it so the original fuel rail was no longer there, Covid caused him to lose many employees, he fired many employees and the car would be ready "next week." My husband has been stopping by Griffith Automotive almost weekly during this time and has been told for the past year at least that the car is "next in line" or will be ready "next Friday". The car never moves from the lot behind the business. We have even walked in to that fenced off area and have seen cobwebs and weeds growing through the engine under the hood. You may ask why we let this go on for over two and a half years. I can only say that Mark is really good at providing excuses or too busy or not around when my husband would stop by for updates. I believe that Mark felt he could put us off since he was also working with my husband to provide health benefits to his company for his employees. He strung my husband along for that as well and my guy felt somewhat compelled to let the excuses slide in order to gain the company as a client. Last week my husband went to Griffith and told him enough is enough, he had a tow truck lined up and was taking the car. Mark said something along the lines of "I told you it would be ready next week!" A few words were exchanged and my husband left but told Mark that a tow truck was coming. Later when the tow truck arrived, the car was pulled from the back lot and was where the tow truck could easily take it. We went to the shop where the car is now and the car is in horrible shape. Cosmetically, this beauty is now faded and ugly and the upholstered roof top is in severely worse shape after sitting in the sun for close to three years. Mechanically, we're not sure they did much of anything once Griffith broke the fuel rail. The new battery we bought is sitting in the trunk, there are disconnected hoses (old ones) sitting on top of the engine under the hood. The entire engine block is unbolted as are many other things under the hood. We have been completely screwed over by Griffith Automotive and I warn everyone not to do business with them. We have filed complaints with the Pima County Attorney, the Arizona Attorney General, Better Business Bureau and anywhere else we can. Please stay away from Griffith Automotive! read more

They can not be trusted, they replaced the transmission it had problems so they replaced that transmission and it's funny how it has the same problems so did they really replace the transmission ,no, but they took our $3000 and now we have to take it to a different place they also took $3000 to repair an AC unit that they had to work on twice and it doesn't work either don't trust them. Recently the manual crank handle on my driver's side window broke (again, for the 3rd or 4th time). I took it to Griffiths and asked Mark if he had any advice or suggestions. He asked me to return the following week (which I did), and one of his mechanics was able to manufacture for me an amazing repair with which I am very pleased and happy. This was a horrible experience. Jon of Discount Tire referred me to Griffith Auto Repair, with a 15% off alignment promo card. Griffith Auto turned out to be the most incompetent and dishonest repair shop I have ever been to! Other shops charge $50 -90 for alignment, Griffith charged $157.73 (15% discount included). After multiple appointments because Griffith didn't have the parts, and charging me for work that my car did not need, with total payments of $2,500+. Not only the original problems were still not fixed, but my car was in worse shape. I went to a third party and got both problems all fixed for $205, and it had nothing to do with the expensive repairs Griffith did or recommended. This just shows, how incompetent and greedy Griffith repair is: even when you have an appointment, he does not source the parts until you and your car are waiting in his shop. He has no problem wasting your time and taking your money. I will be reporting Griffith Auto to the Better Business Bureau with a formal complaint. read more

The radiator on my car sprung a leak, the engine overheated and the engine was damaged. It was suggested I take it to Mark. It was the worst nightmare I've ever had getting a repair done. Mark had my car for 1 MONTH and I was beginning to think I wasn't ever going to get it back. At the end of 1 week of having it he finally told me he didn't see anything wrong with the engine but the radiator needed replacing. After further conversation he said he would do a "test" to check the engine. He then said the engine was in fact damaged and needed to be replaced. After another week of trying to find a replacement engine one was secured in Texas and driven to Tucson. Mark assured me that the day after the engine arrived I would have my car back. The engine arrived on a Friday. On Monday I called to find out if I could pick up my car. No. On Tuesday I left town for a week, but Mark assured me I could pick up the car the day after I got back. The following Wednesday morning I showed up at Mark's and the car was on the rack getting the work done. Nothing had been done. Again Mark assured me I would have the car back by the end of the day. I was finally able to pick it up just before the shop closed. Mark told me had his "top guy" on the job and Mark was really happy with the work. The car, he said, had been test driven on the highway and around town. Runs great. I got not 100 ft down the street and the car was making a noise. Since the shop was then closed I decided to drive it home and take it someplace else the next day to get it checked out. On the way home I realized the speedometer and odometer weren't working. The next morning I took it to Big O Tires. They plugged in the meters and found that the noise was a loose bolt between the engine and the transmission. IF I could get Mark to admit it was a misstep on his part, the fix would be covered by warranty. I told Big O that I would rather pay them the $450-500 they quoted me to fix it than to have to go back to Mark. He quoted me one price at the beginning and as time went on the cost went up and up until it was finally almost $800 more than originally quoted. He repeatedly lied and attempted to gaslight me. He's dishonest, a rip off, uncommunicative and does subpar work. I will NEVER put myself through another experience with him EVER again. It was HORRIBLE. Worst of all I don't trust the work he finally did do, which ended up costing me $5,000. Try JayBee Auto Repair or someplace -- any place -- other than Griffith Automotive. read more

Initially I thought Griffith was a great auto repair shop. They informed me that my battery was leaking and needed to be repaired, which I had them do that day. I had planned to take my vehicle back here for any repairs. However, today I got my vehicle serviced at Subaru and was told that my battery tray had been completely removed and the battery has been freely moving around under my hood since it was placed...I don't know much about cars but this seems like a HUGE hazard. There hasn't been anybody under the hood since the battery was replaced so no one besides Griffith's could have done this. Big disappointment. read more

I made an appointment for 10:00. I called the day before and provided all the information that they needed to do a simple stud replacement. My son has performed this work many times and it usually takes him about 30 minutes. When I arrived I was told that it would take about 1.5 hours. After observing my truck still sitting across the street 1.5 hours later, I questioned the owner and he stated that it would be 1.5 hours after they ordered the new stud which they did not order until I arrived. When I complained, the owner was very condescending and simply stated, "God Bless You" as he walked back into his office. He also stated that I needed all new Nuts for my right rear end. I took my truck to Discount right away and the manager, John, said that it was hogwash!! read more

i arrived for my appointment 0800 at 0745. Bay doors open, activity inside, so I figured, let's check in. Are you OPEN. NO! But, Come in! Jeez, bad day? The car sat for 20 minutes before anything happened. So I guess the appointment t was to get in line, because two other people checked In while I waited. Billed me $78 parts and labor to change the cabin air filter. The filter is about $12 on line, and I can do it in 10 minutes at home. $56 was labor. Also, was quoted $3400 for work needed. No symptoms. Getting a second opinion on that one. Before you authorize any work here, get the charges first. I assume this is a book rate shop. Got my second opinion. " All you should consider is the new fan clutch. Yours is weak." Been a car and truck owner for 60 years, and I've never had anyone quote me all that work. I take care of my cars. This business basicly held my car hostage for over 2 and 1/2 years. Since February of 2020. Yes before the pandemic started. I only today was able to get a tow truck over there and get my vehicle out of his possession in order to get it fixed properly some where else. I've been going to other mechanics for years 500$-1000$ every time changing parts to try to fix my steering/ suspension it just never rode right since my leveling kit was installed. Found out wrong parts were installed , and these other mechanics were just part exchangers didn't understand what was really going on. Mark immediately noticed the wrong leveling kit was installed and my suspension was under much stress causing all the ball joints and many other parts to prematurely go out ( seemed like every 1.5 yrs) mark is super knowledgeable and the guy you go to when other peeps botched your vehicle. I wish I had this guy near me in California. I called late on a Tuesday, and explained that I was driving a 2000 Dodge Ram roadtrek, and that I was told by the Roadtrek experts that there was a serious problem in my drivetrain. If they could just evaluate it this afternoon, and tell me what was wrong and that they could fix it, I would stay until Monday when they could work on it as I had commitments in Tucson. They spent an hour and a half evaluating what it could be. It was not easy to find. It was a very minor thing that they repaired. I was prepared for and they could have told me that it was the universal joints, a bent drive shaft, the differential, a dry bearing, or anything else. I was ready for the delay of trip and the big dollar bill just to make sure I was safe. They could get away with it if they were dishonest, but they didn't even charge me! I went to Costco to get a tire rotation on my 2013 Honda Civic. The technician at Costco told me they were not going to be able to do the rotation unless I purchased 3 new tires and got a tire alignment done. I then went to Giffith Automotive to get an inspection and alignment performed before going back to Costco. Tony made time to look at my car in order for me to be able to take my trip rather than waiting until Friday for an inspection elsewhere. He was a wealth of knowledge regarding my Civic. He gave a thorough explanation and assured me my car was in 1000% working order. This potentially saved me hundreds of dollars had I taken it to another shop. What a nice and respectable business this turned out to be. The Lexus dealer told us our 4 tires were bald at 50000 miles, surprising us as 5,000 miles previously they were fine. As we are retired, we rarely leave our active complex. Griffith Automotive told us during an alignment, after purchase and install of 4 new tires, that our back right wheel alignment was off by .36. How Lexus could have missed this if rotating our tires every 5,000 miles -- I'm not sure. The Griffith team was polite and very thorough in their explanation of repair. This type of customer service is so rare there days - but so appreciated. Thank you Griffith! We will be back with our Lexus. read more

We trusted our 1968 Chevy Nova to Griffith Automotive in July 2021. The tech took the car out and crashed it into a utility pole causing severe front end damage that resulted in a total loss of the car. The owner Mark is your typical new car salesmen that really talks up himself and his business to the highest standard even after what was done to our classic car. Mark was out of town when this incident occurred and did not have the decency to reach out upon his return, I had to contact him. When I went to meet him face to face he drove me to where he parked my crashed car which was outside in the rain. He assured us that the next day the car would be parked in the body shop. However this was not the case, I went that next evening and the car was sitting in the rain. I called Mark and he said the car would be moved into the garage within the next half hour (this was at 530pm). It rained that night and we went by the following morning at around 930 and the car was still sitting in the rain. My husband then went to Griffith Automotive to speak with Mark. Mark fabricated a story saying that the insurance adjuster had gotten numbers together that morning and that the car was repairable but that it was a conflict of interest for them to repair it and that it needed to be moved to a different shop. The car was moved immediately to a different shop per my arrangement. I called and spoke with Griffith Automotive's insurance adjuster and was told that no one had talked with Mark that morning and that they legally could not tell me who to let repair my car. Mark also insisted the car was repairable and that the frame is fine, which turned out to not be true. If you take your car to this shop just be aware of the owner and type of person he is. There was no mechanical failure in this vehicle, this was fault of a tech that took the car out on a joyride. The pictures and police report tell it all. They did so promptly and discussed with me solutions to an ongoing rust problem I have and referred me to another shop that could help. All this and no charge! Clean washroom as well.
