I've been coming to Brake Masters in Simi Valley since I moved to this city in 2006. I also have all my many family and personal cars serviced and my records will tell you, all have been beyond the 200,000 miles threshold. I know that they close their doors at 5 PM but when the Mercedes Benz dealership sold me the wrong spark plugs for my car, Jesse the Manager, ordered the right plugs from his supplier and promised to work and finish my car until it's done. I left their store at 6:10 PM and am so embarrassed that because of me, they have to stay an hour or so longer, just to service my car. To many of us, our vehicles are critical especially if you work in places where you also serve other people. I am fortunate to have always been treated like family, Jesse speaks with you like an old family member and tells the truth about what is needed and how you can also save, in the process. I can go on and on but I will never go to dealerships where they not only charge you beyond the skies but more so, damage your car, when working on your priceless vehicles. I cannot thank Jesse and his team enough for always doing a wonderful job, for me and my family. So, if you are in the Simi Valley, Moorpark, Thousand Oaks or even the valley, come to Simi Valley Brake Masters and leave your car in great hands. See the Manager Jesse, and he will treat you like an old friend, honest, kind and very knowledgeable about cars and beyond! 200,000 miles and beyond is easy peasy for them! read more

Brought my kids truck in brakes were really hard . They contacted me saying brake booster , master cylinder , wheel cylinders, wheel bearings, and front brake pads were all bad. I had them replaced the brake booster and master cylinder and the wheel cylinders and I drove my car a few days later because I barely drive it and brakes still aren't working correctly as if they didn't inspect or test drive will never recommend this place to anybody way overpriced. Now I'm taking to my mechanic. Guy at the counter was very nice though. read more

Lifetime brakepads, but they upcharge the labor. Had new rotors and brakes done 2 years ago at this location, brought car in for new pads and an oil change, they told me I needed new rotors, brake pads and my suspension was bad. I told them I just had new rotors put on 2 years ago and they told me they were warped because of my bad suspension. Told them to just put new pads on and I'll take my car to my mechanic for suspension. Mechanic said they are full of it, suspension is fine, just need new tires and alignment and rotors just need to be resurfaced which they did not do, they just put slap pads on. Brakemasters charged me over $430 for oil change and slap pads. Will not be returning to this dishonest location. read more

They left a part off our brake job and when we politely returned before the words came out of my mouth they went into a wild denial. They charge dealers service dept prices so no reason to go here anyway. If they make a mistake it's on you, they will not take responsibility nor make it right. Scary, shyster operation with contempt for the customer. Go elsewhere. Some of the Yelp reviews are obviously fake shills. read more

My wife and I had been going here for years. We both always liked Juan. He seemed honest and cared about his job. Never had an issue. My wife went here a couple months ago and said dealing with the new manager (Josh) wasn't as good as dealing with Juan. She didn't make it seem like a big deal, so I didn't push it at the time. I called up just before 4:PM and asked if they could do an oil change, if I could get there in 5-10 minutes. He mentioned the time and seemed very hesitant, making me feel a bit uncomfortable, as if I was asking some super problematic question. I said I could come another day if they're too busy, but he begrudgingly agreed to do it that day. I arrived just before 4:10 PM, to an empty waiting room and never saw any other customers. I saw another car or two outside, so I assume they had been working on something else. However, Josh seemed rather irritated to be doing his job. Maybe he had plans to get to and wanted to close early? Regardless, I left there just after 4:30 PM, well before they close. So, I'm not sure why he had such a negative attitude about doing his job. I tried to be friendly when I arrived, because Juan was always so easy to deal with and I enjoyed going there. However, Josh was not as personable, seeming like he had zero personality. One word or short answers until I just gave up. When another employee walked in though, he was friendly, which is why I felt Josh was just upset about having to stay until 30 minutes before they close. I also did not prefer his choice of music. Play whatever you want on your own personal time, but when you're at work, it shouldn't be your personal preference. Be professional. When I'm at work, you won't come in and hear my music, so I shouldn't have to hear yours either. Unless this type of music is now standard at all Brake Masters? We'll be going somewhere else next time. read more

They told me yesterday when I called to be here before 8:30am and it would only be an hour. I arrived at 8:09 and the guy quoted me 1.5 hours. No biggie. He just came in with a LIST of other things I need for the car and $300 more worth of items. When I said no, he proceeded to tell me that my brakes will not be under warranty then. What a joke!! Its 9:15am and he now told me another 1.5 hours. This place is a JOKE and they are ripping people off. Be Aware!!! Better Business Bureau, here I come! read more

I am having a baaaaadddd day. Drove to CA from IL. I needed my oil changed. I stopped by Walmart in Simi Valley and told the clerk I was bringing in my Mini Cooper....he said bring it in. Brought it in 27 miles one way to find they can not do it. Now grant it the Walmarts in Chicago Il and in Valparaiso IN have done it but this store could not. You have to push a reservoir to the side to get to oil filter.... stopped at Jiffy Lube and again I had my oil changed there (IL) but they said they couldnt do it due to clearance issues in Simi Valley CA as well. So Frustrated and not knowing what to do I drove past this place and turned around. Blake is the rep from Santa Clarita shop to help out...and he did. I told him my story and he did a lot of head shaking. Long story short he is doing the work for an unexpected Great Price!!!! Come check this place out. read more

I've been going to Brake Master for over 5 yrs. I was there not to long ago for my suspension. It turned out it was the bushings. They spray some type of lubricant and the noise went away. The service was outstanding, the mechanics made sure everything is in excellent conditions. The manager Raphael was very knowledgeable and courteous. He explained exactly what was going with my car in details. He recommended to buy Blaster Silicone Lubricant at Auto Zone. If I have more problems to bring the car back n they will spray the it on the bushings. Thank you so much Raphael for great customer service. read more

Just came in for wheel alignemt after purchasing new tires. , some values were off manager said that camber and caster can't be fixed but toe can be adjusted. I said go ahead. drove off the lot and turned around after half a mile as the car was pulling to the left with steering wheel not centered. went back and manager said that it happens sometimes. told manager that car ran better before the alignment, drove straight and had steering wheel centered. manager then mentioned that shocks had to be replaced etc... on a car that has 32k miles and was recently serviced for the 30k at the dealer who never mentioned that alignment was off, that shocks are bad etc.. as they check everything and offer extra services. manager told me that I have to wait for a while, there is a long line of cars waiting. checked the lot as there is only One car that is there. told him that he sent me off with a car that is unsafe to drive and that is unacceptable read more

BEWARE EVERYONE GETTING OIL CHANGES!!! I've been going here for 20 plus years but today some kid scammed me by asking me if I wanted " the usual" I mistakenly said yes. Mind you I have a 2007 Toyota Corolla and have been receiving 5w30 oil for $40 forever. He "claimed" the last 3 services were synthetic oil and charged $74. I got home and checked my records and he was wrong or plain lying. Just sayin be careful. read more

I will never go anywhere else to have my car worked on! This place is amazing as far as service places go. The waiting area was clean, the bathroom was clean, there was plenty of parking but most importantly the customer service was ABOVE AND BEYOND!!! I usually hate getting my car service because technicians usually talk down to me and are impatient with me, however that was not the case here! Juan was amazing! I wish every business had a version of him! He took the time to explain and actually show me what was wrong with my rotors! He didn't just try to sell me on something. He went into great detail to explain what the issue was. I can't thank him enough for all of his time and patience! I will never go anywhere else for brakes, suspension etc. People like Juan and the other gentleman that was temporarily working there, are what make these difficult days not so bad! They were both really awesome and took the time to actually check on me and chat in the waiting room! So not only was my visit educational, but it was quite pleasant! It was almost like hanging out with friends! This is a super cool place, if you have to go to a Brake masters I highly suggest going to this one! read more

Great customer service. And really affordable prices. In the auto mechanics business it's very competitive but this place is on point. Came in for an oil change and Juan at the front desk was so greet full and nice. Felt comfortable the second I came in. Oil change was done in 15mins or less. Great service more than likely to come again for the next oil change. Very clean shop! read more

I was looking for new brake pads for my SUV because they began to squeak and make noise. I purchased my car used with about 22K miles on it. At the time my car had about 40K on it so it felt like it was about time for some replacement brake pads. The service at Brake Masters was perfectly fine and the replacement process was painless. After receiving my car back I drove home and the squeaking lessened but was still noticeable. I went back to Brake Masters with an understanding that there was a lifetime warranty on the pads. I was told that the squeaking was normal and it would dissipate after a little bit of time. I went on my way hoping I wasn't just fed a line. Gradually the squeaking became worse and was unbearable after less than 6 months. I decided to get the pads replaced but at a the Tire Pros in Northridge. I asked the people at Tire Pros if this was common and they we astonished that I just had these replaced because they looked very worn out (after 6 months and less than 6K miles!!). After receiving my car back from Tire Pros, what did I hear? NOTHING!!!! It's been over a year later and 15K miles and not a freak'n squeak. Yes, Brake Masters has a life time warranty on the pads but you still have to pay for labor which would be fine but if I have to replace the pads every 3-4 months then it's not worth it. read more

Came for an alignment and was out in 35 minutes with a four wheel alignment. Good pricing and fast service. If you go during the week the can fix your auto real quick. Nice guys there too. Update. I came in for brake service. All the mechanic bays were empty so they were not busy at all. I asked the guy what he thinks needs to be done and he just pointed me to his buddy in the office. His buddy made me wait for awhile then came out and ignored me and spoke a middle eastern language to the mechanic. He then quoted me a very high price. I said that it was more than I expected to pay. He got mad and told the mechanic to bring the car down from the lift. The mechanic noticed I had a nail in my tire and said the tires guys would fix it. I waited awhile and they pre-charged me for to fix my nail in tire issue. I took the car to a reputable shop (Tire Pros) and they told me the nail was never taken out. So basically I paid for nothing at Brake Masters. Avoid this place. read more

Jose and his team are always so very helpful. They are the only honest mechanics I would trust.

Brought my van to this place for an alignment after getting new tires at America's Tire. They didn't do anything to my van besides taking it for a test drive at first, then putting it on the lift and walked away for 45 minutes. I was sitting outside watching my van on their lift for 45 minutes without anyone doing anything to it. After 45 minutes their mechanic walked out from a garage in a different building and moved my van off the lift and took it for another drive around the block. I went in to pay for the service and asked for the alignment report and the guy said he doesn't have it and if I need the report, they will need to redo the alignment again. I paid them, went home and review my dash cam, it showed my van haven't been touch all the times it was on their lift. Very bad, dishonest place. I do not recommend anyone taking their vehicle to this place to be work on. read more

Car maintenance and repair is almost always a bummer. But at Brake Masters the other day, I actually felt great! Yes, it cost a fair amount of money to fix the problems I was there to have fixed, but I never felt confused or unsure of what I was getting. The folks there gave me an opportunity to see what was being done, explain how and why it was necessary, and never had me feeling pressured in any way. They'd worked on my son's brakes a week before and he had the same experience as me. They even went above and beyond by helping me replace a brake light on our old rusted Volkswagon! If you've ever replaced headlights or brake lights on an old Volkswagon you might know why that was quite an offer. Particularly since our car is not in good shape so almost everything is slightly broken and needs to be done a little differently. They got it done and I was grateful. I recommend getting your brakes inspected (they'll have a look at them for free) and maintained at this Brake Masters location. (HINT: Do it before you think you need to and avoid the cost of waiting too long. :D ) read more

Beware! I have never ever had a break job go bad within a few short months. According to this guy, if you don't let you rotors cool down before entering a car wash you'll warp them. Or perhaps you used your breaks too much or too hard. Or maybe he wants a few hundred more dollars from your wallet? Men like him give small garages a bad name. Heading back to the dealer for all my work now. read more

They were honest and up front about everything that I needed to do to get my car safely aligned. My control arm was broken And the manager took the time to show me, explain to me, and even suggested that I have my mechanic take a look as well. I was impressed with the upfront honesty and even brought up the previous yelp reviews that were poorly rated- we discussed the ratings together and he explained that he himself values the cov diner experience and does the best he can to provide great service (Like apply coupons that I didn't physically have in hand) . As a woman - this kind of service was a great experience and felt empowering. Thank you brake masters read more

Run Away!!! This is the type of place you see on news with the hidden camera exposing how corrupt places can be. I went in for a free brake check, and was told I needed over $1100 worth of work. Okay, so maybe yes maybe no. But when I asked for a detailed list of what needed to be done, because I don't have $1100 to drop right this sec, the guy gave me major attitude. He made me so uncomfortable that I actually apologized to him for wasting his time. Hew would not give me a list, so I started to write down what he was telling me, and when he saw he got defensive and combative. I asked to have my car back and after a few minutes it was waiting outside for me, keys in and running. I went to another place immediately that someone else had recommended and they fixed my problem for under $300. I then told them what had happened at Brake Masters and they were dumbfounded. This was my first time visiting Brakemasters for work. I provided a set of brake pads and just required them installed and the front brake discs resurfaced. When I was checked in, the advisor was on his personal phone. Not a great start. Was told it would be just under and hour for the work to be done. The car went in and was up in the air within 10 minutes. Then it appeared as if it was time for a break as the tech stood around chatting for 30 mins. 1 hour 45 goes by and it is finally done. Far longer than initially expected. Might have been done on time if the tech had not stood around. After driving it out of the driveway, it was evident the rear brakes had been adjusted too tightly. They were dragging to the point it felt as if the parking brake was slightly applied. Next time, don't overpromise and under deliver! Will not be back read more
