Chili was dehydrated, Ribs dry no flavor, Brisket dry , Sauce bottles sticky. Can improve inside apparence, roof looks dirty, had boxes stored at sight. Food was thrown away didnt like it at all

Walk up order with tables inside!

Rustic spot with a truly BBQ feel, where you order at the counter, take a number and your food is delivered to your table. This spot came highly recommended, but I was unimpressed with my lunch. I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich with fries. I was expecting sliced turkey from a turkey...instead I got what felt and looked and tasted like packaged cold cuts. The fries were crinkle cut like you get in the freezer section and several were still cold in the middle. 3 stars for the service and because the rest of my group, who ordered pulled pork and onion rings were happy with their meals.

Fries and stew good too

Great did. Got a good parking spot too. Potato salad and beans my fav. Sandwich big. All good

There is nothing more authentic than a chop bbq plate with 2 sides and a sweet tea. This place does it right with a slice of Texas toast that I actually took a bite of before snapping the photo. The baked beans and Brunswick stew was 2 awesome sides.

First time I've been to this restaurant located a few steps from Covington Square and I'm satisfied. I heard the name of this restaurant from a friend, and I will come back without hesitation. First of all, you can park quite easily in the street or in the square. The restaurant is quite big so you can go there easily without a reservation during the week, but I don't know about the weekend. The restaurant is quite friendly and family oriented, I found the staff very nice. You order at the cash register, and you are served at the table. It seems to me that you can also order to go. I found the decoration quite cool and in the theme of the restaurant. The prices were very low for a restaurant of this type. I only paid $8.99 for the BBQ plate, which was pork, with a choice of two sides. I chose French fries and a Brunswick stew which I was eating for the first time. I also took a drink for $1.49 (soda). I thought the food was good and served quickly. I think it's a good place to go for a quick bite to eat and something cheap but of good quality. I recommend it!

6 bbq ribs, coleslaw, French fries, Texas toast

The restaurant is one block south of the square. Order a half rack of ribs (6), coleslaw, fries, and drink. Price is reasonable. Once ordered at the counter my food arrived in about 5 minutes. The restaurant has a rustic atmosphere. The young ladies that took my order and brought the food were pleasant. The ribs were very tender and meat was falling off the bone. Would have liked a little more coleslaw (mustard, vinegar dressing) even though it's not my favorite style. Fries were hot. The sauces didn't have much flavor.

First time coming in. The man that was fixing the sides in the back had no gloves on and was using a small portion bowl to put the sides in another small bowl. The ribs we ordered were burnt and should not have been served to anyone but the trash. The Brunswick stew was mushy. The pulled pork sandwich was old and should have been thrown away. It had hard pieces all in it. The potato salad taste like just cold mashed potatoes and not potato salad. The baked beans were extremely nasty. Taste like the barbecue sauce they tried to make on their own with big chunks of mustard. First and last time visiting here

Family run business that serves great food. My favorites: smoked turkey melt, potato salad and the smoked wings.

I tried so hard to love this place. You really have no idea. In short, mostly mediocre food…read morecombined with one very shiesty action ruined the experience. I knew I had to stop at Cowboy's BBQ after I passed it a few times while looking at houses in Covington. Some of the best food that you'll find anywhere is often attached to a gas station. The good reviews and smells made me certain this was going to be great. At first glance, prices are amazing [more on this later...]. I ordered the 3 meat plate with brisket, ribs, and smoked chicken. I chose fries and mac n cheese for my sides. The mac n cheese carried an upcharge, but this is reasonably common for places to do. I agree with the one diner who said the brisket was amazing. I really enjoyed the brisket. The fries were also fine thanks how are you? Wish I had more good to say about this place. The ribs were very old and mediocre at best. I understand that food can't be cooked to order at a barbecue place, but even barbecue has a shelf life. The ribs that I was served should've long been chopped into a stew special or something along those lines. The smoked chicken was a disgusting insult. At first, I thought I was mistakenly served an additional side instead of smoked chicken. Unfortunately, their service style is off the bone and finely diced. Storing barbecue meats off the bone is a delicate process. You have to take extra care to ensure that it doesn't dry up in the hot box. Unfortunately, no care was taken, so the chicken was dry and tasteless. The mac n cheese was very low quality. I'll happily pay an upcharge for the good stuff that's baked. I'll grudgingly eat Kraft mac n cheese. I will not pay an upcharge for Kraft mac n cheese. Honestly, all of this would've made the experience probably worth 2 or even 3 stars, but they have an incredibly dishonest, unadvertised upcharge for credit cards. The surcharge is definitely higher than their cost to accept credit cards. Some businesses eat the cost of accepting credit cards. Other businesses pass this cost to the customer. Cowboy BBQ uses this as an opportunity to improve their margins by cheating their customers.

4 out of 5 stars. Which from me is great!…read more I usually don't ever rate anyone that fifth star until I've eaten there multiple times and everything has been consistent. Or it's just crazy over the top on that first visit! Definitely good BBQ! Definitely worth the visit! Definitely worth a return trip...or 6! Prices - Prices were good. My total after taxes was $9.62. This included a pulled pork sandwich, an order of fries ($1 upcharge), a small container of slaw to top your sandwich if you choose to and a small container of sauce. Service - Service was great! They're taking precautions because of COVID. The lady that took my order was friendly. Service time was fast. It was about 10 minutes from the time my receipt was printed until I got my food. Very reasonable since they had to cook the fries. Food - Food was great! Large portions! The sandwich was a good portion of meat...enough to where some fell off the bun while eating the sandwich. The pork itself was seasoned good, tender and juicy! There was just slight bit of fat in it...which is expected and how it should be...and had a bit of good bark in it as well. Which is something you don't get at a lot of these other BBQ joints! The sauce was a little sweet, but not too sweet. It was a little thinker than a vinegar base, but didn't have that think molasses base either. Which worked well for me since I'm more of a fan of a vinegar based Carolina or Georgia style of BBQ sauce. I'm not a fan of super thick overly sweet sauces. Fries were crinkle cut fries. Had some good seasoning on them. Huge portion. The coleslaw was good. A little sweet. Small little portion...just enough to top the sandwich if you chose to. I tried everything separately...which I believe that you should do with BBQ! Try the meat unsauced! That will let you know how good the BBQ actually is! Then try it with the sauce! The BBQ by itself was great. The sauce complimented the meat good. And then the last little bit a had I topped with the slaw, which paired well with the meat and sauce. For me, I'd say this is real good backyard BBQ! And that isn't a shot at the food or the pitmaster! That's a compliment! You can tell this isn't some corporate franchise that is there to sale good BBQ...this is someone who loves to make good BBQ and they want to share it with everyone! Well, done!
