a pulled pork sandwich wrapped in tin foil
    Johnathan T.

4 out of 5 stars. Which from me is great! I usually don't ever rate anyone that fifth star until I've eaten there multiple times and everything has been consistent. Or it's just crazy over the top on that first visit! Definitely good BBQ! Definitely worth the visit! Definitely worth a return trip...or 6! Prices - Prices were good. My total after taxes was $9.62. This included a pulled pork sandwich, an order of fries ($1 upcharge), a small container of slaw to top your sandwich if you choose to and a small container of sauce. Service - Service was great! They're taking precautions because of COVID. The lady that took my order was friendly. Service time was fast. It was about 10 minutes from the time my receipt was printed until I got my food. Very reasonable since they had to cook the fries. Food - Food was great! Large portions! The sandwich was a good portion of meat...enough to where some fell off the bun while eating the sandwich. The pork itself was seasoned good, tender and juicy! There was just slight bit of fat in it...which is expected and how it should be...and had a bit of good bark in it as well. Which is something you don't get at a lot of these other BBQ joints! The sauce was a little sweet, but not too sweet. It was a little thinker than a vinegar base, but didn't have that think molasses base either. Which worked well for me since I'm more of a fan of a vinegar based Carolina or Georgia style of BBQ sauce. I'm not a fan of super thick overly sweet sauces. Fries were crinkle cut fries. Had some good seasoning on them. Huge portion. The coleslaw was good. A little sweet. Small little portion...just enough to top the sandwich if you chose to. I tried everything separately...which I believe that you should do with BBQ! Try the meat unsauced! That will let you know how good the BBQ actually is! Then try it with the sauce! The BBQ by itself was great. The sauce complimented the meat good. And then the last little bit a had I topped with the slaw, which paired well with the meat and sauce. For me, I'd say this is real good backyard BBQ! And that isn't a shot at the food or the pitmaster! That's a compliment! You can tell this isn't some corporate franchise that is there to sale good BBQ...this is someone who loves to make good BBQ and they want to share it with everyone! Well, done! Everything we tried was our "favorite!" You have to check them out. Trust me the food and the service will make this one of your favorite BBQ spots in Metro Atlanta! We were just driving by, saw the smoker out front, smelled the food and had to stop in!

Doesn't look much when you drive past it but I always see smoke coming out of there. Eaten there twice now and got the ribs. They are pretty good. Want to get the rib tips next.

They call themselves "Pig out" thought given the size of their sides this isn't likely. You know I've always wondered what makes BBQ Memphis style? Apparently, it's a already sauced sandwich topped with Cole Slaw minus the availability of Fries, Onion Rings, or Brunswick Stew. Yes, there's something to be said about "low and slow", but I think in this case it refers to the long lines at D Q or Chick-fil-A. At nearly $18.00 for a granted decent Sandwich, two amuse-bouche sides, and a can of soda ... Wendy's looks so much better.

The food was okay. The macaroni was a no go, you pay almost $3 for a very small amount of tasteless Mac and cheese. The wings are juicy, not too tender. The ribs are very good, not a fan of the potato salad either. I had higher hopes for this place, but eh if I had known how bad it was going to be I wouldn't of gone. Not only that but we got horrible service, she took like 10 minutes to give us our tea. BBQ sandwich was okay too!

I live close to this location and it seemed to be a good place to stop on the way home from work. I received my bag and say this. These portions are not worth what you pay for and could easily receive a larger size at a different bbq place. The food is underwhelming and only personifies that the portions much the taste... below standard. I really like places that are small and quaint but this place is better off where it is.

Tonight we made our way to The Social Goat in Covington, Georgia. Before we even get to the food,…read morethis is the kind of restaurant that has a personality all its own. Goat-themed artwork is scattered throughout the restaurant, including some fun paintings that immediately caught our attention. The atmosphere feels more like a cozy tavern than a traditional taco restaurant, with dark wood, booths, and a comfortable setting that invites you to settle in and stay awhile. One interesting piece of local history is the building itself. We learned that in 1906, this building housed an antique market. Think about that for a moment. If someone was selling antiques here in 1906, some of those "antiques" might have been from the 1800s. More than a century later, the building is still serving visitors, although these days the focus is tacos rather than antiques. Covington itself is worth mentioning. The city has become known as Georgia's Hollywood of the South, with more than 100 movies and television productions filmed here over the years. Fans of The Vampire Diaries and Sweet Magnolias will recognize many locations around town. If you're visiting the area, there is plenty to see before or after dinner. Our server for the evening was Jordan, who provided friendly service throughout the meal. The menu features eleven different taco varieties, which immediately created a dilemma. Narrowing the choices down to just three was not easy. We ultimately chose the Fried Fish Taco, the Philly Taco, and the Sesame Ribeye Taco. The tacos are available as a trio, allowing you to sample three different varieties on one platter. The meal also came with chips, salsa, and queso, making it easy to share and compare flavors. Let's start with the Fried Fish Taco because it ended up being my favorite of the three. The fish itself had excellent flavor and was cooked just right. The taco was topped with a sauce that brought a unique flavor to the experience, and the crunchy slaw added texture that worked beautifully with the fish. Every component contributed something to the overall bite. This was the taco that surprised me the most and ultimately earned the top spot in my personal ranking. The Philly Taco finished a very close second. If you're a fan of Philly cheesesteaks, you'll immediately understand the appeal. Loaded with shaved ribeye, peppers, onions, and cheese, it delivered exactly the flavors I was hoping for. It was rich, satisfying, and packed with flavor. Sometimes simple combinations work for a reason, and this taco proved that point. The Sesame Ribeye Taco was the most unique of the three. The sesame-soy flavor was bold and immediately noticeable. I enjoyed the flavor profile and appreciated that it took the taco in a different direction than what I typically experience. Rather than trying to imitate a traditional taco, it offered something distinct and memorable. Anyone looking for a creative twist on a taco will likely find this one especially interesting. One thing I appreciated about the trio platter was the opportunity to compare very different flavor profiles side by side. The Fried Fish Taco offered a balance of fish, sauce, and crunch. The Philly Taco delivered familiar comfort-food flavors. The Sesame Ribeye Taco brought a bold and unique flavor profile to the table. Each taco had its own personality, which made the comparison part of the fun. The chips were crisp, the salsa was fresh, and the queso provided a nice complement to the tacos. Combined with the trio platter, it was more than enough food for a satisfying meal. The Social Goat manages to be more than just a taco stop. Between the historic building, the goat-themed decor, the welcoming tavern atmosphere, and a menu filled with creative options, it offers an experience that stands out from the typical restaurant visit. If we return, and there is a good chance we will, there are still eight taco varieties left for us to investigate. The Social Goat Tavern 1115 Church Street Covington, GA 30014
