TLDR: pretty good, especially for Atlanta area bbq. Great onion rings. Meat+pickle+bread+sauce=good bite. We came here as a large group wanting to compare to places like heirloom bbq and (perhaps unfairly) places we've had in Texas. I shared with a group of 3 people and we ordered 1 pound of brisket, 1/2 a pound of turkey, and an app of onion rings. For the brisket, we asked specifically for the fattier side when we ordered, and honestly we were pleasantly surprised. Definitely better than fox bros, and as good as heirloom. Sadly there were still some dry parts so can't just give a 5. Seasoning was pretty good, and where it was lacking the 2 bbq sauces made up for it. One was vinegar based and another was a molasses coffee sauce that I quite enjoyed. The turkey was not as juicy / tender as I've had at places in Texas, but it was still pretty good. I would recommend if you need a palate cleanser from the heavier red meats. The onion rings were surprisingly good! Shatteringly crispy and when you bite into the onion ring you don't just pull the whole onion out. One piece was overbattered but overall not too heavy. I wish they had a blue cheese dip though Our server was very nice and also filled our waters attentively. 20% tip is already included for larger parties. All in all, would come here again if I'm in the area, and they have some fantastic weekday lunch deals too. read more

I don't normally write reviews because I usually overlook minor issues. Mistakes happen, especially during busy times. What matters most to me is how they're handled. A sincere apology and a willingness to make things right usually ends the conversation. Unfortunately, this experience deserves a "PLEASE BEWARE." When we arrived, we were greeted promptly, and the host seated us at a high-top table near the bar. We asked if we could move to another table, and he accommodated us without hesitation, which we appreciated. However, the new table had just been wiped down and was still soaking wet--so wet that our cloth napkins became damp from sitting on it. We had to ask someone to come dry the table before we could settle in. When it was time to order, we learned that several menu items were unavailable. Over a holiday weekend, that's understandable. What wasn't understandable was our server's response. Instead of simply apologizing, he became defensive, explaining that it was the Fourth of July, they had been busy, and one of the unavailable items was one of their staples. His tone came across as if we were inconveniencing him by asking a reasonable question. Sensing the interaction was heading in the wrong direction, I asked for his name and thanked him in an effort to ease the tension. When our food arrived, one of the side dishes was incorrect. We informed the food runner, who immediately apologized and brought the correct item. That's exactly how customer service should work--acknowledge the mistake, apologize, and fix it. No issue there. After we finished eating, our server cleared only one tray from the table, leaving the other. He then brought the check, but half of the receipt was wet. At that point, we just looked at each other. It was another example of poor attention to detail. Another employee walked by, and we asked if we paid at the register. She offered to take the payment herself, which we appreciated. By then, all we wanted to do was pay and leave. As she took the check & card for payment, she asked how everything was. We hesitated and simply said, "It was okay." She asked again and once again; We hesitated and simply said, "It was okay." She asked yet again and said that if there was a problem, she was the person to tell. Based on her tone and body language, however, it felt more confrontational than welcoming. The person paying explained our concerns: Several menu items were unavailable. One side dish came out incorrectly. The receipt was delivered soaking wet. Unfortunately, every concern was met with an excuse rather than an apology. For the unavailable menu items, we were told they had been busy and there were other things on the menu. For the incorrect side, the response was that the kitchen was busy and they could have just swapped it. For the wet receipt, we were told it could have gotten wet in the back or from the table, followed by, "Do you want us to print another one?" At no point did we receive a genuine, "I'm sorry." That's what made this experience so disappointing. Every issue by itself was minor. The problem wasn't the mistakes--it was the dismissive attitude and complete lack of accountability. Customer service isn't about never making mistakes; it's about how you respond when they happen. If you're going to encourage customers to share their concerns, be prepared to actually listen instead of becoming defensive. We could have quietly paid our bill and left. Instead, the interaction convinced me to write this review because the service felt dismissive, unapologetic, and unprofessional--especially if the person responding to our concerns was, in fact, the manager. read more

This is not your traditional BBQ, but is what you would consider Asian fusion BBQ We were seating immediately upon entering the restaurant. Service was good. Food was good. Plenty of free parking and they have indoor and outdoor seating There were three of us dining but we all pretty much ordered the same thing except one person ordered the collard greens (vinegar based). We didn't order dessert but there was some beautiful looking cakes that I will try on my next visit read more

Sweet Auburn BBQ - Best brand Brunswick stew I have had ! It's a must have . And then they have pineapple cider on-draft a very hard to find. - Barbeque Near Me - McDonough, Georgia

Let me just say... the food was so good it almost made me emotional. Delicious doesn't even begin to cover it -- every bite was giving "yes chef!" energy. I will absolutely be back. The ambiance is beautiful and inviting, with an open-concept dining area that flows straight onto the patio. If you're inside, you still get that breezy outdoor vibe -- and if you're outside, you don't feel disconnected from the restaurant. It's honestly the best of both worlds. Christopher was our waiter and he was fantastic -- super friendly, attentive without hovering, and made the whole experience even better. Give that man a gold star . Overall: 10/10. Highly recommend if you want great food, great service, and a vibe that makes you want to sit a little longer and order dessert you don't technically need... but absolutely deserve. read more

No lie sweet auburn is always out of something every visit lol. We came early on a Monday lunch. Their happy hour starts at 3! Tuesday is taco tuesday Wednesday is $1 wings! Service was cool I felt like she was working the whole room which she did her thing! No wait of course. Very chill spot first time having the tacos and it wasn't too bad. The only thing I'd cut is maybe the mayo base slaws on all of them. Wings were good $12 for 6 wings was steep. read more

Only giving 1 star for my waitress Amanda she was AMAZING from her recommending I try the brisket eggroll and the pecan cream soda......to her excellent customer service by how she kept checking on us. Everything else was underwhelming. The place was full of flies and no pictures because I just wasn't feeling the overall ambiance.....think one step down from Jim n Nicks. If you like your food well seasoned. This is not the place to go. It's advertised as a bbq Korean fusion. The brisket tacos with sweet Thai chili sauce are a showstopper. Brunswick stew - 0/10 would not recommend.....same for All the sides including the Mac and cheese. The brisket may be the only thing keeping these folks in business. If you like lackluster bbq.....give it a try and let me know if your experience is same as mine. read more

The waitress was a problem from the beginning. My order was wrong and brisket meal was warm not hot. The food had no flavor. Three different item was missing from my meal. I was so disappointed from the beginning to end. I went there to relax but I left after 10 minutes upset . I love enjoying and paying for good food but this was one of those times I wasted almost $50. Never again!!! read more

We chose this spot for an afternoon family outing. This sweet little gem is nestled in the shopping area of McDonough, GA. Let me just tell you everything was a perfect 10. From the food to the service this was a win! We tried a little bit of everything but my overall fave was the smoked fried rice with pulled chicken! The smoked wings were a close second! My husband tried the pick 3 with ribs, smoked turkey and brisket. For sides he had green beans and brussel sprouts. My son went with the brisket burger and onion rings. EVERYTHING was a hit! We'll return for sure! It's Asian fusion bbq so if you're looking for bbq with a twist, they have you covered! Don't miss out! read more

Food was really good. I had the brisket fried rice and it was extremely good! Second time here and I have zero complaints.

Ive been wanting to try this place out and yesterday I got the opportunity. I decided to sit at the bar. Taylor (hope that's her name) was great. She recommended I try the brisket burger and it didn't disappoint. The burger was big and it came with a nice portion of fries. That's why they have to go boxes right. The food was good and it's a nice space so dining in wouldn't be a bad idea. Go check them out! read more

We visit this restaurant often and have gotten to know some of the staff. The food and atmosphere is consistent as well as the service. Typically, we have Chris or Makayla, they both provide great service. Additionally, the female manager with the black hair that is usually there is very personable and visible. It's definitely one of or local "go-to" spots for BBQ. read more

Sweet Auburn BBQ - 2-Meat (brisket & ribs) platter with grits and green beans. - Barbeque Near Me - McDonough, Georgia

The place is nice inside and out and very clean. It has a trendy vibe but mostly chair seating a not too many booths. We had good service from the bartender Savannah. As far as the food goes we enjoyed it's mostly but I really feel like they try so hard so make something good better that they trip themselves up. I would never say "oh I want Sweet Auburn bbq" this is just my opinion of course. If you come for ribs just know they are "competition style" tough and hard to get off the bone. This is okay for some but I have never understood that, I cook mine to fall off the bone and easy to eat. The tastes are interesting but again I think they try to hard. read more

The atmosphere is busy but pleasant. The food was delicious although the service was a little slow.

This place far exceeded my expectations. For context, I'm a chef, I've worked in BBQ before, and I make some pretty amazing soul food myself -- so I don't give compliments like this lightly. This was hands down one of the best BBQ experiences I've had in years. My favorite spot used to be B's, but since they shut down, I haven't really had "a place." I might have to start making that trip to McDonough whenever I need a proper BBQ fix. I ordered the two-meat combo with ribs and brisket, plus mac and collards. The collards are jerked, and I love the kick at the end -- flavorful with just enough heat, but not overwhelming. The mac and cheese was AMAZING. Like... it has me reconsidering my own mac and cheese recipe. That says a lot. The meats were definitely on point. I got the lean brisket and it was so good -- beautiful smoke profile, well seasoned, tender without falling apart. The ribs were cooked perfectly. My only critique? I wish they offered regular spare ribs instead of just baby backs. That said, the baby backs were fantastic. They do offer spare ribs, but they're done Chinese-style. Honestly, the entire menu looks solid and I'm already looking forward to my next visit. read more

Good Food and Asian style bbq!!! The Asian style ribs are delicious! Staff are friendly and helpful

Cold dry food ,waitress took forever in servicing our party. The turkey was the only thing that tasted halfway decent.

Excellent service & best in class fresh turkey breast. The health score almost deterred me from the healthiest protein ever. I spoke to manager to query "why" low health score & learned the issues relayed in the scoring were not as reported. I experienced cleanliness in dining area - saw the kitchen from walking past & all looked in order. I will return... read more

Absolutely loved this place. The service was OK. The restaurant was nice and the food was good. We ordered: Cornbread: the best I've ever had. It had a hint of jalapeño, was moist and toasted! The butter complimented it perfectly. Tacos: had three different tacos with different meats and flavors. Really good. Our least favorite was the bulgolgi taco. The sauce was too strong for our liking. Combo plate with pulled pork and brisket. The meats were so juicy and tender. They had a nice smoke flavor. Only downfall was it tasted too salty. It came with pickles and toast which was a perfect pairing. Brussel sprouts: loved these! It came in a nice sauce. The sauce was strong but really good. Could be taken out of the sauce if it's too strong. Mac and cheese: this was good. Nice and creamy. Not our favorite because of saltiness but still really good. I would definitely come back. read more

Disclaimer: I am not a huge fan of BBQ. This is probably the 1st BBQ place I've ever been to with that being said it may be my last visit to a BBQ joint. Our server was great she explained that Sweet Auburn is a BBQ Asian inspired cuisine restaurant. (Interesting mix) My potato salad was dry. The chicken wasn't cooked all the way. The Mac n cheese was okay but they had these jalapeño cornbread biscuits that were pretty good. It had a kick to them but I liked them. The friend who went with me had French fries with no salt and green beans with no seasonings. It's a cute place with lots of TV's but I think the best thing about the meal was the wine ...or perhaps I just needed an alcoholic beverage after that unsavory meal read more

This was just my second time going here but this was a good experience. We left the gym and came around 7:45 and they close at 9 and they took us in with no problem and we didn't feel rushed at all while being served. We both ordered the two/three meat platters and the food was seasoned well! They forgot one of our sides but was quick to remedy that after we made sure to ask. The jerk collards were my favorite along with the mac and cheese. SO YUMMY! The drinks were good too. The cinnamon apple type mule was 10/10. I definitely would come back just for the friendly staff and the calm vibes. They also played good classic disco/r&b and that was fun to vibe to. read more

First walking up to the restaurant the atmosphere is soft and timid. I walked in and picked to eat outside for this experience. Server was very polite, attentive and helpful. I ordered a ginger ale which is from the fountain and my fiancé ordered the Mexican sprite which comes in a glass bottle. We both ordered the pick 2 meats and decided to try out their wings since they have a $1 wing special on Wednesdays. Their sauces are homemade, so is the ketchup I believe because it tasted and looked different from bigger brands ketchup. Their brisket was good, we got a more fatty piece but they do offer lean pieces as well. Mac & cheese was good, not too much flavor but not too little. I wish the pulled chicken had a bit more flavor and sauce. Their grits were definitely not worth trying in my book. The grits tasted like baby milk and over expanded so they were more mushy. Their ribs were overcooked so they were more tougher and the marinade they use was sweet but tasted like the Al pastor marinade. Overall service was great so was the atmosphere, however is it worthy of coming back? Maybe for the brisket and Mac & cheese. read more

This was my first visit to Sweet Auburn and I will definitely be back. I discovered it by accident about a month ago and was so glad to finally try it. I ordered my two meat combo to eat in and I also ordered a to go dinner for a family member. I feel like the portions were a tad small for the price, but everything was hot fresh and flavorful. The service was also good. The place was clean beautifully decorated. And a pretty good size crowd for a Sunday afternoon. I would definitely recommend it. read more

I came back today for lunch since I haven't had bbq in so long! Loved the Asian fusion and the options, definitely stands out and different that the area needs. Everything was awesome!! The bulgolgi salad and Korean tacos were amazing I'll be sure to remember to come back for more tacos! Fatty brisket is ALWAYS my go to. Love the Mac and cheese, so happy they have different green options, I can never decide fully what sides I want. I never skip on the Banana Pudding, too delicious! Our server was Linn and she was very sweet and prompt, always made sure we had everything we needed and was just the sweetest. We were seated, greeted, and served promptly. Overall, my fave place for BBQ hands down. Ambiance was very nice and casual, we loved sitting outside in the patio. There's a covered and non covered option. This was my first time dining at this restaurant ,when we arrived we were immediately seated and greeted. The restaurant itself was clean but where we were seated needed some attention there was a fork on the floor and some food left under the table so that area needed cleaning and our menu needed to be wiped, however you could tell the restaurant was clean. We requested to be moved so maybe that area wasn't cleaned before we moved. Anyway the food was amazing very unexpected , it's a fusion of Asian and BBQ! I loved the ribs, collard greens and Brussel sprouts. The fried rice and brisket were also delicious. The corn bread was good it needed butter that was not served with it, I'll ask next time for butter. Service was excellent and I would recommend it and return. read more

First visit and very pleased with everything. Restaurant was clean and we were quickly acknowledged and a table prepared for us. Our server was very friendly and speedy with our beverages. Our food was brought out quickly but the shrimp fundito came first. It was hot and delicious. I really appreciated that the server ensured the pulled chicken plate that was shared with the little one was divided and brought to her on her own plate. This has never been done without asking beforehand. Many thanks. The atmosphere was quiet, clean and enjoyable. We were too full to try any desserts. The server suggested we visit the restroom and press the red button. What a happy encounter. My granddaughter was thrilled! Will definitely visit again. read more

Sweet Auburn BBQ - Pulled Chicken plate with Bourbon Beans and Coleslaw. - Barbeque Near Me - McDonough, Georgia

The only time I was happy was when she got me the sweet tea and my plate being remade over. My waitress demeanor was amazing and tentative she kept apologizing for the mistakes and Taylor the manager listened and handled the issues. The quality of food is not up to par it's just bland, and not fresh, and eye-appealing. The love for the restaurant is not in that kitchen it's bad teamwork. People are just showing up to work and getting a check. We as customers are losing our money and our time which we can not get back. I used to praise this place for cute BBQ but now I have to keep my money and sort out a new BBQ restaurant. I came home and made sandwiches for us to eat. Sad that I will no longer be coming to this establishment. Jennifer, you're an awesome waitress Go where the money is. What a wonderful mashup between Asian and BBQ! It was a wonderful atmosphere with great service. The restaurant was very clean and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We came for brisket, so we started with the brisket egg rolls! I could eat a million of them! Add the pickled onions, cilantro, and sauce and it was a perfect bite! The crunch from the cabbage added a nice contrast to the pull-apart brisket. The brisket sandwich was delish! Had pieces of chopped brisket inside the patty. The smoke flavor was unmatched! It was huge and took almost half home. Side of fries was plenty for me and my mom to share with some to take home. It had a wonderfully spice rub on the fries. I could eat them all day. The brisket plate showcased the smokiness of the brisket. The bbq beans had smoked meat in them, and the pear slaw was a nice creamy and sweet contrast to the richness of the rest of the platter. The food was on the pricy side, but WELL worth it! Already planning our next trip. read more

I always try to give the fairest review possible so understand I'm looking at a lot of factors. My daughter (13) got the pulled chicken sandwich with Mac and cheese. She devoured the sandwich but called it "mid" and hated the Mac and cheese because she said it tasted like Alfredo and I must say I agreed. My wife got the pulled pork sandwich and enjoyed it. She also had the Mac and cheese but ate all of it because she loves Alfredo. My daughter (6) wouldn't eat her chocolate chip cookie because it had flake salt on it. As for me, I had a 2 meat combo. I chose fatty brisket and char siu ribs with fries and bourbon beans as the sides. I also replaced the garlic toast with a jalapeño cheddar cornbread muffin. The fatty brisket was simply spectacular. Great cook and great texture. The char siu ribs were mediocre to me. The cook was ok and the sauce was alright. Just nothing impressive and they left me wishing I'd bought regular ribs. The bourbon beans were ok but not enough to drive me to rate them above a 3 out of 5. The French fries were super solid. The only thing keeping them from a perfect rating is a slightly longer cook. The cornbread muffin was great and the sorghum butter elevated it even further. Maybe the best thing I ate all night. The service was absolutely spectacular. I will say the menu was a disappointment. They demonstrated cooking and smoking skill but nearly everything felt overthought. Simplifying about half of the menu would make this place so much more desirable. Nice place anyway. read more

All I can say is WOW! There are so many choices in BBQ in this area' however Sweet Auburn created a niche here by marrying the flavors of great southern bbq and the Asian culture which works incredibly well. Where have you ever seen brisket egg rolls which were delicious?? This place has a very cool vibe and besides the great food, the service was amazing and the staff made our party feel very welcomed. One of my members wanted to create a combination meal that wasn't on the menu, however the server engaged the GM to make it happen. We had 10 in our party and everyone had a great experience. A must try is a unique style of sauce called Char Siu which is similar to a Cantonese style. Everything we had was amazing and expertly prepared. You will thank me after you experience this diamond in the rough in McDonough GA. Enjoy read more
