Thought I had a garage roof leak, so called out Chesapeake Roofing for a free inspection and cost…read moreappraisal. Victor came out and conducted a garage attic inspection using a tall ladder ceiling hatch. He didn't enter the lighted attic but just did a visual inspection using a flashlight. After his inspection, Victor claimed one side of my roof needed an asphalt roofing patch. What he didn't tell me was that, five to six feet from his attic ladder inspection, was an extremely obvious water pipe leak that had created black fungus on nearby wood. So obvious you could easily view without a flashlight. So what we have here is deceiving a possible customer by telling him he has a roofing leak when, in reality, a plumber was needed to correct the interior water pipe leak. Thus, my one-star rating, which actually should be lower.

I gave it one star because zero star wasn't available.

Terrible measurement / installation, terrible customer service…read more Just replaced windows in August with Window Nation. Two of my new windows are about 1 inch too short for the frame likely due to a measurement mistake, and the gap is just stuffed with foam. According to ASTM E2112 and FGIA guidelines, manufacturers usually only allow a 1/2-inch rough opening (RO) clearance at the top and sides. After research, I was concerned not long after, this flawed installation will cause windows deformed (difficult to lift/open, will not lock, etc.) and the exterior caulking will be cracked allowing rainwater to seep in. After raising my concern to Window Nation, they sent someone out who just copied my photos instead of doing an actual inspection. They then closed my case without even notifying me. When I called back, they said my case was closed because the installation was "standard" and told me I'd have to pay out of pocket to fix it. They refused to transfer me to a supervisor or technical expert. Finally they said they let the installation manager know and he will call me to address my frustration, but I've been completely ghosted. Do not recommend.

I hired Winfield Builders to replace two old skylights in my Rockville home, and Zach and his team…read morewent above and beyond. My project was complicated because my 1980s drywall shafts were the wrong size for modern solar blinds. Instead of just "making it work" or creating a huge mess with drywall dust, Zach proposed a brilliant custom solution: building a clean birch veneer box with custom trim. It looks stunning and kept my house completely dust-free. What impressed me most was Zach's integrity. During the install, a small piece of my old plastic molding snapped. Instead of ignoring it, Zach took full ownership and replaced the trim on both skylights with upgraded foam-backed wood molding at his own expense to ensure everything was airtight and uniform. It is not a simple fix but an upgrade, for free. See the attached before/after pictures and the broken plastic. Like most customers, I contacted a few contractors before selecting Winfield Builders. Their price is VERY reasonable, and the communication through Yelp was professional and transparent. It is rare to find a contractor who cares this much about the details. If you want a crew that is honest, skilled, and delivers a beautiful finish, call Zach. 1000% recommendation!
