I have seen the name Calderon Contractors for years, and roofing is one of the many things they do. So I went ahead and reached out, using the quote service here on Yelp. Elmer, the owner, reached out relatively quickly. I didn't get to meet him, but he was my main point of contact. First visit to my house was from a guy named Hector, and was very kind, professional, and I described what the issue was and he had a look for himself. After his visit, it wasn't long before Elmer reached out with a quote, and we moved forward. Hector ended up being the one to do all the work, and it was efficient. Instead of just "making it work" or creating a huge mess with drywall dust, Zach proposed a brilliant custom solution: building a clean birch veneer box with custom trim. It looks stunning and kept my house completely dust-free. What impressed me most was Zach's integrity. During the install, a small piece of my old plastic molding snapped. Instead of ignoring it, Zach took full ownership and replaced the trim on both skylights with upgraded foam-backed wood molding at his own expense to ensure everything was airtight and uniform. (The first time for my roof -you can read that review below). But this time was for a bigger project which was to replace the siding on my 80 year old house and install new gutters. When my old siding came off the wood behind it was so rotten, that B&R practically had to rebuild my house. I suspected that some of the wood might be bad, but when I saw how bad it was, I went into a total panic spiral. I would have gone completely mental if I had anyone but B&R working on my house. There were about 12 men working on my house and they were incredibly skilled- total artisans. They didn't cut any corners. The quality of their work just blew me away. They replaced all the rotten wood and even wood that to me didn't appear rotten. I think that maybe another company would have just nailed siding over some of that because who would know? My house - well - it is totally sealed up tight now. And it looks beautiful. It's not the new siding that makes my house look so good now - but the craftmanship of the work. With the new fascia and trim everything just pops. I went from having the worst house on the block to the nicest. Before the work on my house was even completed my neighbor across the street hired them to do her siding. One thing unique to where I live - which is right next to 495. B & R installed foam board insulation under my siding and not only is my house noticeably warmer now, I can not hear the highway at all!! It's mind blowing. And it is also nice not to hear my furnace cycling on and off all the time either. I'd like to add that everyone thought I was crazy to do this project because I own a 24 year old car that breaks down all the time and my family and friends all felt I should replace my car instead. They were very accommodating when I called so I was pushed further back on the timeslot till after 3 PM so I could be home for the service. The technician Isaiah arrived and informed me what he was going to do. Afterwards he sent me a detailed report with photographs of my gutter system. For the first time I realize I had been hearing a fair amount of outside noise (which I'd apparently gotten used to), because these windows/doors are soundproof; now I don't hear anything at all from outside! And even better, the windows are easy to open, and my sliding glass doors actually slide well in the track, and are not shaking and drafty when it's windy outside -- major improvements from my old, builder-grade, 20+ year-old windows/sliding door. Further, the service crew was excellent -- careful, kind, professional, efficient, and they cleaned up everything afterwards. Roger, the foreman, has been doing this work for almost 30 years, and Jose, who single-handedly carried in/out the windows/doors, has been doing this work for 10+ years. I didn't get the name of the quiet third service person who was mostly outside and on the ladders, also very efficient. fyi, they did mention that working on the 4th floor of our condos from ladders was a bit more challenging as the original builder-grade windows had been made to fit by being packed/taped in place from the outside, which necessitated them having to actually break some of the glass to be able to pull the old windows out. But they did it - and did it well. Finally, Shaun, the project manager who gave me my estimate and oversaw the project from estimate, HOA approval process, to completion, was great. Victor came out and conducted a garage attic inspection using a tall ladder ceiling hatch. He didn't enter the lighted attic but just did a visual inspection using a flashlight. After his inspection, Victor claimed one side of my roof needed an asphalt roofing patch. What he didn't tell me was that, five to six feet from his attic ladder inspection, was an extremely obvious water pipe leak that had created black fungus on nearby wood. So obvious you could easily view without a flashlight. So what we have here is deceiving a possible customer by telling him he has a roofing leak when, in reality, a plumber was needed to correct the interior water pipe leak. Thus, my one-star rating, which actually should be lower.
