Brad's customer service skills are horrible. I dropped off one of my 1911's for an issue I was experiencing with the safety. Not a big deal. He has had my gun for close to six months. He is not responding to calls or texts. I went to the store in person to check the status of my 1911. He said it was locked in his safe and he forgot the combination. He claimed to have sought assistance from a locksmith which was probably a lie. Brad has since ignored all texts and calls. I would not recommend Brad's services to anyone. read more

He is also very ethical, and will tell you up front why he is unable to give an exact cost for repair work, but will also keep costs to a minimum for simple repairs. I came across Brad Blancett Gunsmithing, when I was looking for a gunsmith (specifically a 1911 specialist) to help install and seat a beavertail grip safety, as opposed to the standard GI grip safety the comes on a 1911 mil-spec model. Having shot primarily my friends' 1911's for the past decade or so, without breaking the bank - I decided to get an entry level 1911. Obviously, I would come to realize that the mil-spec wasn't exactly the same as the higher-end 1911's (or 2011 improvements to a classic firearm) I shot previously. After a few courses with it, and time spent at the range the mil-spec 1911 the hammer bites from each shot were becoming increasingly noticeable. I reached out to Mr. Blancett via email, and asked if he did grip safety replacements, since it wasn't indicated on his website. After a shooting competition at Burro Canyon, I met Mr. Blancett at his shop. Together we talked about some options, and I settled with a Wilson Combat drop-in, a skeletonized hammer and reducing down the trigger weight that was at a whopping 8 pounds. After picking up my 1911, in preparation for a handgun course, I was able to put a thousand rounds through it to get a better gauge on what else needed to be done or tweaked. The trigger work, significantly improved accuracy and rate of fire, allowing ease of riding the reset. The installation of the beavertail grip safety fixed my "hammerbite" problem, as well as allowed me to more comfortably obtain a higher grip on the firearm and better mitigate recoil. Returning to Mr. Blancett after the handgun course, I decided to complete the full duty reliability package. My entire experience with Mr. Blancett has been outstanding. To know someone so passionate about firearms, knowledgeable, as well as having extensive real-world experience was amazing. I enjoyed my conservations with Mr. Blancett, and he truly had a lot of stories to tell, and wisdom to impart. 'Grasp Exceeded Reach'. I'm relatively new to firearms; I've been enjoying target shooting as a hobby. One of the firearms usually recommended to newbies is the Ruger 10/22 Rimfire Rifle: well-made, little to no recoil and easy to shoot. I would do light cleaning after going to the range with a gun cloth and boresnake, but I got ambitious and decided to do a thorough cleaning by watching one of the many YouTube 10/22 disassembly and cleaning videos. All was well at first; I was able to disassemble and clean the various parts, but I could not, no matter how much I tried, get the spring and bolt back together - I watched the videos for hours. Humbled, I called Brad Blancett Gunsmithing, and he told me to come on by (he didn't laugh at me). If i can leave -0 star i would. bring in my Smith and Wesson sd9ve for a trigger kit install close to 2 months ago. i took it apart to install the trigger and could not put it back together I'm a new gun owner and thought i could with youtube help but unsuccessful. So i talked to brad and he said no problem he had done 100s of them and he would have it done 7 to 10 days and he would call me when it was done, i think like 12 days went by and no call back so i called and asked him if it was ready he told me he has not got to it yet and that he would call me. 2 weeks went by i called and still told me the same thing again, then i asked why did u tell me 7 to 10 day then? Then he came off with a really bad attitude and told me he has other customers also waiting and he does not have time to spend on my gun so i told him then u shouldn't have told me it will be 7 to 10 day his response was he can't figure out what is wrong with the gun when he put it back toghter. it's a new gun only fired 100 rounds and was working perfectly. Brad was very rude and told me the more i talk to you the less time i have to do my work! Mind you every call was aprox less then 5 mins. And not once did he call to update me, he told me he worked on it 5 times and cant figure out the problem and he can't spend 8 hours to put it back toghter I'm not a gunsmith but from watching videos it usually take aprox 1 hour at most to put back toghter, and that he can't tell how long more it's going to take, and told me if u wanna pick up ur gun I'll be happy and you'll be happy today i picked up my gun in total disassembled Hate leaving bad reviews but brad is very rude bullishiting lier. Don't take ur firearms here if you dont want to wait forever.. update took my gun to wood river L&T inc 1003 w. Foothill blvd azusa today spoke to the receptionist told me to bring it in and he would look at it the gunsmith lucio sosta started working on it immediately i swear to god he finished it in aprox one hour. I'll start by sharing my experience and any prospective customers can make their determination from there. I found Brad on google and gave him a call regarding an optic cut on a Glock slide. When I called he quoted a good price and a 2 week lead time. This was back in September, after around a week and a half I called for a progress update so I could plan around my schedule to come pick it up. The slide had not been started. No problem I gave it another week and called again still no progress done. I gave it another 2 weeks and by this point there was machine complications he explained and that the parts to fix would be in by the end of the week and the slide would be done shortly after. Over the 2 months following I called Multiple times some calls were never answered and the ones that were involved a lot of excuses and backpedaling. After a total of 3 months from the drop off date I told him I was no longer interested in using his services and that I would be picking the slide up unfinished. I'm not sure if this man is aware of how to properly conduct business but at this point I would steer everyone clear of this man. He continually came up with excuses for as to why the work was incomplete, getting status updates was like pulling teeth and more often than not he wouldn't even return calls. If you're looking for a quality communicative gunsmith this is not the place to go. read more

**BEWARE** I called beforehand to see if they would work on my Kel-Tec Su-16. I told them the exact problem. Brad said bring it in. I called beforehand for a reason as I live 45 minutes away. I drove 45 minutes there, dropped off the gun. Another customer was there complaining he has not seen his gun for over 2 weeks and the work wasn't even started yet. I thought this must be a bad sign but I was already there so I left the gun. I then drove 45 minutes home. A few days later his daughter calls me and says he won't work on the gun. I told her I asked him beforehand as its a 45 minute drive each way. She told me he refused to work on it even after he told me he would. I drove another 1.5 hours back and forth to pick up the gun. So I wasted 3 hours of my time even though I called and told him beforehand which gun it was and what the problem is. She said I am sorry but he won't do it. I said this is unacceptable customer service and I will leave a bad review. Do not use them!!! read more

Boyfriend and I went in to drop off his gun to get some railing added on. It took 2 weeks to hear back that we can go pick it up. When we get there they said there was a piece missing (a piece that we asked if they needed, they declined) but since we had it they can try to explain to us how to get it into the place its supposed to be. We ended up leaving the gun there so they can get that screw in because thats why we took it there in the first place. Weeks past by with no call, no update. I call on my bfs behalf and the gentleman who answered the phone was very rude and short. All he said was I haven't even started on that gun yet, I'LL call you when its done. My boyfriend called Saturday 5/18/19 to inquire again and the gentleman's response was "Pfft, oh I've been had that gun done." Like come on dude. My bf has been waiting for the gun, I have been calling to check on the status, and to hear that it's been done but we never got a call to pick it up. All that customers need when they have their possession in someone elses hands is proper communication. If its going to take a month to get a project done say that prior to having the client drop it off. Don't take it, quote a few weeks , not communicate the customer whatsoever, and have an attitude about us simply asking how much longer its going to take. To wrap it up, it took about a month to get the gun and the communication was horrible! read more
