My girlfriends wanted to celebrate the holidays together and we decided we would go to a seafood boil. After searching TikTok I came across a video saying that Boxing Crab was their favorite place and so I decided we should check it out. I appreciate that there was plenty of lot parking. I arrived before my friends so I was greeted right away and sat right away too, they had a good amount of people in. Our server was really sweet, I had let her know we were doing our annual Christmas dinner and doing a "small item" gift exchange she was excited to watch us! I ended giving her some of my items because she was so sweet! For starters, we order Cajun lemon wings and for sides we opted for garlic noodles, brussels sprouts, a boiled egg and rice and for our drinks we stuck to water and a couple bottles of soju. For our mains, we opted for the Seafood Lovers which includes 1 lobster tail, 1/2 lb of king crab, snow crab, shrimp, crawfish, clam, mussels and potato and chicken sausages. We opted to get another half pound of shrimp too and because we placed such a large order we got a complimentary 1 lb of snow crab. We did our gift exchange prior to our food coming out and once our food came, we were so silent. The chicken wings were nice and saucy the brussels sprouts were cooked and glazed to perfection, then our seafood came out and we were feasting, however you guys make the sauce please don't ever change, it was perfect and garlicy I kid you not it was so good. I do wish they gave more potatoes but that's really it. Overall definitely would come back, everyone is so nice, the music and vibes are very nostalgic, I absolutely love the early 2000's music and was just delicious.

The Boxing Crab joins my ongoing list of tasty Cajun seafood restaurants in San Diego. The front employee managed both the register and tables. She was wonderful and gave our table an insane amount of lemon. Each table was set with wipes, bibs, salt, pepper, and gloves. *Raw Oysters: I ordered a half dozen Fanny Bay oysters, served with lemon, cocktail sauce, and Tabasco. They arrived well chilled on a thick bed of ice. The oysters were plump and properly cleaned. Although slightly dry, they were still easy to enjoy. *Make Your Own Combo: I chose one pound each of green mussels and seasonal crawfish. The combo included corn and potato per pound. For seasoning, I selected their "One N' Only," a mix of Cajun, Cajun garlic butter, and Cajun lemon pepper. The medium spice level carried a good amount of heat and gave me a few sniffles. The crawfish had a nice bounce and the seasoning seeped into the seafood thoroughly. The sauce itself was flavorful without being overly heavy from butter. The potatoes were tender and the corn was sweet. Overall, the flavors were well developed and the quality was solid. While the spices were not as intense as at some other Cajun spots, there was good savory depth.

Came here on a Friday night with some friends and it definitely satisfied our seafood boil cravings!! Between the 4 of us we ordered 2 Queen of da sea ($60 for 1 lb snow crab, 1 lb shrimp option for head on/off, 2 corn, 2 potato, 4 sausage mixed w sauce of choice), 1 pitcher of Pacifico ($30, was able to get 5 glasses of beer), garlic noodles, and a few sides of rice. We were all stuffed and definitely felt like it was good value for what we got. They also have the option to make your own seafood combo where you can pick between shrimp, crawfish, clams, mussels, king crab, snow crab, and/or lobster! There's also currently a special promotion for free 1lb of snow crab legs if you spend over $180 which is definitely achievable if you come with a group and also applies to takeout orders! For the queen of da sea we got the one n only sauce (mix of Cajun, Cajun garlic butter, Cajun lemon pepper) 1/2 med and it was delicious flavor with the perfect amount of spice that just added to the flavor and wasn't too hot! Their beer/drink collection is pretty diverse! A mix of some common ones and some I wasn't too familiar with but I'll admit I'm not an avid beer drinker: Pacifico, 805, Sapporo, blue moon, alesmith 394, alpine duet, voodoo juicy haze, sculpin ipa. The pitcher was a good value since we got 5 glasses out of it for $30 compared to $8/9 for one glass! They also carry bottled beer/seltzers (modelo, corona, high noon, white claw, etc) and soju/sake (chamisul) Even their non-alcoholic drink selection is pretty extensive they even have Thai tea! Garlic noodles are a MUST for me at seafood boil and these did not disappoint, they were deliciously garlic-y the flavor was spot on and went well with the seafood boil! Service was really good! Everyone was super nice and they checked on us pretty frequently. They do provide bibs and gloves here as well as lots of lemons and salt/pepper to dip in! They actually give you metal forks instead of plastic ones which I thought was nice too! We came here for a late dinner around 7:30pm on a Friday and it wasn't too busy, we were seated right away. The place is located in a small plaza with ample parking which is great! The ambiance is pretty good, casual setting. I think they were playing more like 2000s music when we were there? The music wasn't too loud so we were able to chat with each other across the table easily which is nice. This place would definitely be a nice place to come with a group of friends! They also have a few larger tables to accommodate larger groups, I think there was a larger group of maybe 8-10+ people when we were there! Their little boxing crab mascot is super cute too, One of our friends was even saying he would put it on his water bottle if they made stickers so maybe they'll make some cute boxing crab merch in the future haha.

I've reviewed many of places over the years. But this review is probably the first place I give a 5 out of 5. I love sea food boils as much as the next guy, but non have really blown me out the water like boxing crab. My fiance wanted seafood boil and I didn't want to go drive far to the typical choices. Since either they're far. Have terrible parking, are expensive, or the staff isn't on top of everything. I remembered seeing boiling crab near us one time. So I drove that direction and found it. There was plenty of parking on a Sunday afternoon. We walked in and there were 3 other tables there so it was not busy which was another plus. The place looked extremely clean, from the dinning area to the bathrooms as well. The staff were outstanding the entire time. We were greeted right away as we walked in, and seated promptly. They gave us a few minutes to look over the menu then took our orders. We ordered a side of rice, garlic butter noodles, and 2 orders of the "Queen of the sea" with one and only and 1/2 med spice and added two boiled eggs. And a couple drinks. The Queen of the sea came with snow crab. Shrimp, potatos, corn, and sausage. The food came to our table in a timely manner and we dug in. It was delicious everything we ate was perfect. Sometimes at other seafood boil spots they might over cook the food. But not here. Everything in the book was too notch. They gave us a ton of lemons and they always kept checking in on us, we never had an empty cup. It seems like it's such a random location. But love that it's only a 5min drive from us. We will definitely be going back and taking our with us too. I highly recommend this place.

I highly recommend this restaurant very readable prices for the amount of food servings you get. It very good high quality flavors. The service is really good and the staff is very kind and knowledgeable of their different items they have on the menu. The ambiance is pretty cut and dry it's very standard not much decorative if you are in the mood for great flavor and low country boil I highly suggest you check this place out I will definitely be returning when I am back in this city.

Had an amazing experience at this seafood boil spot! From the moment I arrived, everything was smooth--great parking and I got seated immediately, which is always a plus. Big shoutout to my server Nikki!! She was so sweet, attentive, and super quick with everything. Seriously made the whole experience even better! I ordered my seafood mild with their One and Only sauce (highly recommend) and the flavor was spot on, not too spicy but still packed a punch. Everything was cooked perfectly and super fresh. If you go, definitely try the garlic noodles I'm 100% coming back for that. I also got their chicken strips and waffle fries for my brother and he said they were delish. Great food, great service, and great vibes all around!

I've been here a few times now, and every time has been a pleasant experience. I've always found parking, I've never had to wait on a table, and the food has always been excellent. The staff is attentive and keeps the drinks full. Also, if you're like me and love snow crab but hate when the crab meat sticks to the inside of the shell, you'll like this place. The meat always comes out in one piece. If you're looking for a new crab place, try this one!

Had another nice dinner with my family at Boxing crab! Wait wasn't too long for a table and the food, and the staff were so friendly. My parents are super picky, but even they love this spot!

My boyfriend and I decided to try a more local seafood boil spot rather than driving up north. We were pleasantly surprised by this local small business! The owner and our server were really nice and attentive. The interior had a good amount of tables and I liked that you aren't super cramped next to other tables like some other seafood boil spots. They had a deal where if you spent a certain amount you get a free cluster of snow crab legs so you know we had to go all out. We were slightly hesitant to get the Cajun Chicken Sausage at first but we actually really loved it! The snow crab legs were a bit on the smaller side but cooked well so they came out soooo easily. The sauce was delicious but a bit watery overall and then kind of clumpy at the bottom which wasn't too big of an issue for us, we just turned the bag and shook it around. Overall I always love supporting a small local business so I'm excited to see how they continue to grow in the future!

This has amazing reviews and for a reason! I loved trying out this place. Im from Colorado and was visiting with my family. My husband and I were so excited to have our first seafood boil here in California. This place is very clean and the server was very welcoming. They give you lemons and salt and pepper containers which i thought was pretty cool. I got the shrimp with head seafood boil with Hella spicy and one n only sauce. YES it was Hella spicy and I loved it! The shrimp was so soft and tender. My husband got king crab and he loved it so much I didn't even get to try a piece . Mexican cokes were a plus I loved that they had this as an option. Will definitely return here if I am ever in San Diego again. Highly recommend as a tourist from Colorado

5/5 stars for this hidden gem recommended to me by my sister! Local owned small business that tops the big chain restaurants. I had a favorite big chain restaurant that I always go to in NC. Wanted to give this spot a try because my sister rants & raves about it. Let me tell you - THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT! This is now my new favorite seafood boil spot!! Parking - They have their own private lot which had plenty of spaces to park at with easy access to the front door. Ambiance - Felt clean, fresh, new, modern, updated. Plus they were playing all the good hits! Service - I believe the person who took our order may have possibly been the owner. Due to his server being on break. He was great! Very accommodating, made sure we were taken care of. Came to our table at the right queues without being overbearing. Helped us with what spice level we needed. He mentioned medium is spicy for him, we were debating between "hella spicy & KO." He provided us with warnings for spice levels. Also, mainly rating his service as A++ because we wanted to get the seafood lovers but did not eat oysters or clams. He was willing to accommodate us & let us substitute for more shrimp & crawfish. Which I thought was amazing! Other seafood boil spots will not let you substitute since those are already their "pre-fixed menu." Due to that, at other places we don't get our full satisfaction of fixings because we want a bit of everything. But also don't want certain things. Love that our requests were accommodated! Plus he remembered everything we ordered without needing to write anything down! He remembered it all by memory down to the little things. FOOD - The best rating I could give! We did decide to opt in for the "one n only" seasoning with KO spice level. We have a high tolerance for spice. & the spice was spicing! Lol. Felt the burn in our lips & had some runny noses. But it was fireeeeee & tolerable. We would deff order KO again & again whenever we come here. The seasoning had flavor. You can taste everything & it all tasted good. Lol. The lobster was huge compared to other measly sizes we get out other spots. Seafood tasted fresh. In the seafood lovers it also had crab cluster & huge king crab leg. Super meaty. We also ordered the Cajun edamame. I am quite the edamame connoisseur. I love edamame. It tasted fresh/not packaged & had a good kick to it. Super addicting! We couldn't finish it but we took it to-go & ended up eating as a snack while drinking. Still as good as when it was first made. We have never killed seafood boil the way we did here. Lol. We always have a lot of leftover at other spots. But here we had a few pieces of shrimp left. See photos for the aftermath! PRICE - We ordered all together seafood lovers with no head shrimp, cajun edamame, starry soda (which tasted crisp & good probably due to it being from fountain), bottled coke, & a side of rice. Our total was $146.56 + 18% gratuity (our tip, not mandatory gratuity) = around $180. Which was definitely worth it! Now we need to come back to try their other menu items. My pictures & videos has my mouthwatering so I'll be back soon!!

They seemed to have a ton of options for my family who didn't specifically get seafood boils so we went ahead for Mothers Day. When we got there the service was okay, our waitress didn't really check on us much at all besides putting a bunch of lemon slices on our table but no major complaints. We did start off with drinks and some of us got the wrong ones but no biggie because it's busier on a holiday. What I had a problem with was the food itself. I asked for the combo #2 because I thought it was 1lb of snow crab leg like I get every single time, I got it "pub style" which is supposed to be all seasonings like garlic butter Cajun lemon pepper in one. They asked me if I wanted shrimp, sausage or craw fish as my second and I told her I didn't want any of that and just wanted ALL crab legs. I don't know if she fully understood because when I got my boil I could tell it was noticibly smaller. There wasn't 1lb by any means, and looking back I wish I could've said something. I think they just took the amount of crab they got me and cut it in half instead of substituting and adding more. I wouldn't mind if it's extra money, I just want the crab so oh well. The sauce was the second worst thing ever. It did not taste anything like other places, but way worse. All I could taste was a watery spicy Cajun, and even on mild how I got it it was pretty spicy. It lacked any real flavor so on that alone I'd never go back. I usually always get a Cajun garlic butter and it's seasoned to the Gods but still light and potent. This was just not good, and didn't even feel buttery but more a watery oil. We did also get the garlic noodles and they were good. I make garlic noodles at home AMAZING though, so these were average and nothing to write home about since other places can still do them just as good, if not better. A place in SD that had ones even better was called Crab City and their boil tasted great. I would recommend that place instead of this. The reviews and menu pictures had me with much higher expectations and I was super let down. Forgot to mention, my husbands shrimp po boy, he said the shrimp tasted off and fishy like not fresh which made him only eat half and never go back for the leftovers. There was a super sweet sauce on it as well that tasted random to me when I took a bite so I would stay away from that as well. I also had to pay extra for my potato's that normally come with your boil at every other place. They usually come with potatoes and corn but this place came with nothing and you even needed to pay extra for potatoes but they were bigger and different then usual with no salt or anything so they were not worth getting at all, nor finished by me.

Incredibly tasty and can last as 4 meals between 2 people, the portion is HUGE! Not too salty at all but so addictive. Lastly, their aguachile is a must! I wasn't even planning on getting mariscos that day but it felt like a sign so I took it as a little treat. It's a food truck setup with folding tables and chairs and a pretty big parking lot since the plaza itself is kind of dead. Parking was easy and there was plenty of space. I walked up and they were doing construction on the tent right above where you order and it was really loud. I feel like that could've been done during closing because it disrupted the vibe. The area is already a little rough so it just made things feel a bit off. The lady working was super sweet. She took my order, you pay right after and they do accept tap to pay which I love because I don't carry cash. They take your name and call you when it's ready. I got mine to go, waited about 10 minutes, and everything came out pretty quick. They packaged everything really well too which I appreciated because aguachile can easily spill. For the tostada they gave two packs of saltines and three tostadas which felt like a good portion. They also had fresh salsas at the truck but I skipped them since my taco already came with sauce. I ordered a fish taco and an aguachile verde tostada. I went home excited to try everything but honestly it didn't really hit for me. The fish taco was a good size with a lot of cabbage and a white sauce, but the fish was a little too soft. I wish it had more crisp and overall the flavors just weren't memorable. It's about $3.70 so fair, just nothing standout. The aguachile verde was the weakest part. Some shrimp textures were off and a few had a strange aftertaste. I've had a lot of aguachile recently and this was probably the lowest quality. I will say they were generous with the avocado and the sauce itself had a nice spicy kick, it just didn't come together overall. There was also an earthy note from the seeds that was very prominent which I have never experienced in aguach For the price, I paid around $20 with tip for both which isn't bad for the portions. It satisfied the craving in the moment but not somewhere I'd go out of my way to come back to.

I wanted to find a sit down spot that could deliver that same citrusy, flavor packed experience and this place was everything. We came in pretty close to closing without realizing, and I hate doing that because I know how it feels working in food service, but the staff still maintained such a great attitude. We were told to seat ourselves and while the inside was way too hot to sit comfortably, the outdoor patio was perfect. Our server brought out water and menus almost immediately and even after realizing they closed at 8pm, we never felt rushed at all. The menu is full of mariscos classics like ceviches, aguachiles, tostadas, and larger plates. Prices range from affordable to a little higher, but the portions definitely reflect that. My husband and I both got tostadas to start. I got the La Special and he got the aguachile tostada, and thinking the portions would be small, we also ordered carne asada fries and a California burrito... which we definitely didn't need... BUTT I am glad we got them because YUM! The tostadas were a 100/10. The portions alone felt more than an appetizer/snack. The La Special was loaded with raw shrimp, cooked shrimp, and octopus, all super fresh with great texture. I just wish there was a little more avocado. The aguachile had that perfect citrusy, spicy kick that makes it addicting. Incredible, and I mean it. Our server also brought out a variety of sauces like chipotle crema, green salsa, red salsa, and sour cream. I added some chipotle sauce to the carne asada fries, which already came with guac and sour cream, and it took it to another level. The portion was huge, especially compared to places charging $20+ for fries. These were around $15 and came with crispy fries, flavorful meat, and a good amount of cheese. The California burrito was $12.99 and really filling with carne asada, fries, and cheese. The tortilla was soft but held everything together well and it hit exactly how a California burrito should. I seriously left with no complaints. The service was amazing, the food exceeded expectations, and this is definitely going into our regular rotation.
