Came here for brunch after a gig. The restaurant is in a former Burger King. The dining room is really nice and was clean when I was there (see above), but they need to either renovate the sunroom behind it or remove it entirely. The menu is pretty eclectic... bowls, pastries, oatmeal, yogurt, etc. Good for lunch and dinner. I got a steak/egg bowl. The steak had an interesting Siracha-esque flavor. I would've personally preferred just salt and pepper. I also got a coffee and a donut (which was served hot and ready, just like Krispy Kreme!). Tonight's visit to Bowl Thyme was not stellar. There were two other tables enjoying their dinners when we arrived. My husband and I ordered - he got an "on the menu" bowl and I got a create your own. I usually get half salad and half quinoa for the base, but the cashier informed me that they "do not have quinoa anymore." It would be helpful if they updated the signs - both the one right inside the door and the one at the register that you order from. Even just putting a Post-it note over quinoa would be okay. But I decided to try half cilantro rice and half salad. We ordered two 4-piece of their appetizers. In the past, we were told that these are handmade, and sometimes they are out of them. The cashier informed us that they had both the jalapeño ones and the chicken ones. So that is what we ordered. With my bowl, I asked for buffalo sauce. When everything arrived, my husband asked the server to point out which of the appetizers was the four pack of chicken and which was the jalapeño, because I'm a vegetarian. She had him open up the boxes and the one marked with a C on the dipper sauce was supposed to be the chicken. I noticed that the cup of Buffalo sauce on my entrée looked like Buffalo ranch or not true buffalo sauce. It should be darker orange, not a paler, creamy orange. When I asked the server if it was buffalo or buffalo ranch, she insisted that it was buffalo sauce. I had my doubts, and sure enough when I smelled it. It was definitely buffalo ranch. How could she not know what kind of sauce she was serving? The rest of my entrée was fine as was my husband's. But I did not use the sauce. The appetizers were another issue. I began to eat one of the jalapeño ones and there were zero jalapeños in it. These are fried rectangles of rice , breaded, and deep fried. It is honestly hard to tell what is inside them. But I found no jalapeños, and noticed an odd texture. My husband had eaten one of the chicken ones, but again it's hard to tell what is in them. I decided to try a second one, and as soon as I bit into it, I felt a meaty texture - a chunk of chicken. I won't be going back to Bowl Thyme. Too much uncertainty. read more

1st time- place is clean and well maintained and decorated. Worker is pleasant and friendly and helpful. Good size "bowl" for the price. Chicken bowl is big enough for 2 meals for most people. It has breakfast sandwiches and smoothies which I didn't know. I will be back and you should try it if you're in Vermilion. read more

My wife likes to come to this restaurant because she can construct a dish to her liking using different fruits, quinoa, a protein, etc. I however, have tried a number of the dishes such as the Lobster Linguine which I have to say, is unbearable to eat because of high salt content. First off, I could not detect ANYTHING that tasted like lobster and secondly, there was something that tasted SO salty, I almost tossed the meal into the trash. I think the Steak and Potatoes is what I'd sampled before and it was also very salty. With my hypertension I am very cognizant of the need to avoid salt in my diet and it seems that every meal I've tried at Bowl Thyme has WAY too much salt. What is it about this place that makes them believe so much salt makes a meal desirable? I will choose somewhere else to eat out if ever we decide to be in Vermilion around meal time. read more

I'm glad Bowl Thyme opened up in Vermillion. It's set up in a "Chipotle like" fashion in terms of ordering your bowls; except they have a lot more options/variety than Chipotle. I went with the create your own bowl. My bowl was pretty basic: rice, chicken, corn salsa, cheese and an Asian ginger sauce. Pro tip- get the sauce on the side or ask for light sauce. To their credit, they asked if I wanted it on top of the bowl or on the side. I chose on top. It was good, but it overwhelmed the rest of the dish. In addition to the basic bowl items, you can choose things like: pasta, linguine, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, shrimp, pulled pork, and lots of other things... plus 16 different sauces. I would also recommend the southwest chicken bites. Those were good! If you are thirsty, don't order a small drink: their smalls are like kid sizes or shot glasses. LOL. The restaurant itself was very clean and comfortable. They even have a couch that you can choose to sit in. I stopped by on my own for lunch and I look forward to bringing the whole family in the near future. read more

Four of us visited this restaurant for the first time last week and had the ***February Special*** Surf & Turf 24.99 * 8 oz snow crab cluster * 4 oz seared Sirloin steak * Crispy parmesan herb potatoes * Seasoned green beans * Garlic herb butter * 1pc garlic bread I must say the food was delicious. I am a seasoned snow crab eater with no utensils. However, my friends had trouble navigating the crab, armed only with a plastic fork. It was disappointing too to eat such good food from a plastic container. If I had to do this again, I would do carryout and take it home where I could give it the plate and silverware it deserved. Now, having said all that this is a rice bowl place and the prices are right and food is good, but in my defense it was my first time there. This restaurant is quite new (some customers told us over a year) and in an updated old burger-king building. The staff were very pleasant and asked all the appropriate questions about the meal. First time there. Ordered the Shrimp dish, the steak disk and the salmon dish. All 3 were awful. Steak was burnt, shrimp was hard and chewy. Salmon was the size of a large soup spoon and seemed spoiled. So disappointed. Ordered on 12/11/2024 pickup at 5:50 pm. Just awful. This was the conclusion of 3 adults that know good food from awful. Bowl Thyme used to be 3Bs a few weeks ago & closed to revamp their menu & decor. After a bunch of glowing reviews on Facebook, we decided to give the new menu a try. The food isn't bad at all, but there's still the same problem of getting what you pay for. The portion sizes are still small for the amount of money you spend. I got a large chicken berry salad, asked for extra dressing, and got no dressing at all. It took a while at the drive thru to get our order (which is understandable), but the girl running the register @ the window did not know how to alter orders apparently. I sat at the window for an extra 5 minutes waiting for her to take my money while our food sat on the other side of the glass :-( I don't think the food is the problem with this place as much as the execution and bang for your buck. Let's see if they make it to summer :-( read more

Very good! Bowls are huge with A LOT of flavor. We had the sweet and spicy pork bowl and the fiesta chicken bowl and they were both so good!

We ordered six bowls online for pick up and it was ready on time in 20 mins. I got the build your own bowl with rice, steak, corn, salsa, chipotle aioli and sour cream. I added my own hot sauce. The steak was amazing-- it was tender and flavorful. The entire bowl was delicious. Everything was fresh. We will absolutely be back. So happy we have a fresh, healthy fast-ish food option in Vermilion. read more

While the cashier was helpful, the food was a 6/10 at best. I ordered #13 and my mom ordered #10 both meals were lacking sauce and seasoning. I thought my shrimp was going to be grilled, but it was breaded. We also order the broccoli and cheese soup, the soup had no broccoli just the base and the steak bites which we're really good. If I come back I'll probably not order pasta, but $40 for two meals was a little high it was more like $20 quality. read more

My first time at Bowl Thyme was a year or two ago. I got the salmon bowl and found it to be underwhelming and underseasoned for the price, but I kept saying I wanted to come back and give this place another try because I might have just gotten a bad bowl. Well, last night I walked over there and did a build-your-own bowl. I got cauliflower rice, grilled chicken, green beans, broccoli, lettuce, tomato salsa, and a little sprinkling of parmesan. I got sauce on the side (they included the wrong sauce but that's beside the point). Everything I ordered was somewhat healthy and nothing was fried, but as soon as I got home and opened the bag, it was a greasy mess! I thought maybe it was just some grease from their countertop or something, but no, upon opening it, the bowl was filled about halfway up with grease/oil! I don't even know why, considering the ingredients. And no, it wasn't juice from the chicken or salsa. It was oil so thick that when I tried to dip anything from the bowl into the sauce on the side, it wouldn't even adhere! I am someone who NEVER wastes food, but after eating what I could off the top, I actually had to toss the rest. I usually give food scraps to my dog or chickens, but I didn't feel comfortable giving it to them with the sheer amount of grease. I will not be back. I'm not sure how this place stays open to be honest. read more

All in all not a bad experience. I ordered linguine with shrimp. Shrimp was very good with a light creole seasoning which was just a bit crunchy that I enjoyed a lot. Mostly everything tastes instant and is not worth the price. My friend and I purchased the fiesta chicken bowl and you'd be better off getting chipotle. I recently tried this restaurant after hearing several great reviews from people in Vermiion that go there. I was pleasantly satisfied with the food and staff. This restaurant is a great concept, especially when you are in a hurry, yet don't want the 'fast food horrible food' that you get at all the other places. Certainly a wonderful selection of food and liked the various choices available. All the proteins and vegetables looked very fresh and the restaurant was very clean. Our food was great.
