This spot has a laid-back, hipster vibe and feels like a real local hangout. They also got a pool…read moretable and a dog-friendly outdoor patio. For drinks they have everything from house taps and cocktails to non-alcoholic options, including mocktails. They also make their own house infusions like beet vodka, coffee liqueur, and cucumber gin, which I thought was interesting. The service was friendly although it was busy so I wouldn't say they were fully attentive. Differential Brewing does seem like a chill spot to grab a drink and hang out with friends. My only issue was that the bathrooms were not clearly labeled and the heavy metal playlist was not my cup of tea. Still, if you are into unique drinks and a casual local scene, this is a good spot for that.

Lots of doors and roll-up windows allow them to combine or separate spaces. I'm not sure if it's a New Mexico thing, but this might be the first brewery we've been to that doesn't do flights. Too bad too because there were several we wanted to get. We ended up tasting four beers. The Bock was ok, and the Stout was pretty good. I had a pint each of the Blue Corn Lager and the Irish Red, while my wife had two pints of the Irish Red. Both were quite good. Had I had another, I would've ordered the Stout. The one knock on the place was the service. It was friendly enough. There just wasn't enough of it. Every time we needed something, it was around a 10-min wait in line. To order, to close out, etc. Not really because it was overly crowded. It just took a really long time for those in front of us to be helped by the one person tending bar at the time. Oh well. The beer was good and not overpriced. Even though the alcohol content wasn't too high, it hit the spot.

The server said they were going through a shift change when our order took over 30 minutes to arrive. But, that did not explain the long waits to be seated, to get out waters, to have our orders taken and to pay the bill. The nachos were great. Loaded with tons of meat, cheese and veggies. They were just the right amount and just the right level of spice. The salad was a salad. The tuna melt tasted like straight pickle juice. We are assuming this wasn't the normal recipe and that something must have gone wrong in the kitchen because most people couldn't eat this. We sure couldn't.

Despite posted hours (kitchen open until 9:30 PM, bar until 10 PM), no employees were visible for nearly ten minutes after I arrived. I asked the other four other patrons if it was closed. They said, "No, the service just sucks." When the bartender finally emerged from the back, there was no greeting, no eye contact, and no offer of a menu--just a curt "What can I get you?" while walking away. I asked for a tequila; he said they were out. I pointed to a bottle on the shelf, and he replied, "You mean the añejo?" I said yes and asked the price. His response: "I have no clue." When I asked if he could look it up, he seemed annoyed. This was during one of the busiest weeks of the year, yet the bar was clearly staffed with the C-team. For a hotel I stay at six or more times a year, this was disappointing and unprofessional. I'll continue staying here for convenience--but I won't be eating or drinking at the bar again until management takes service seriously.

My cousins and I enjoyed some drinks here when we first checked in and we also grabbed late dinner here on the last night of our stay. There is a tradeoff for convenience so don't expect too much of the food or service here. I can see why the waitress would be flustered while it's busy but she was just as flustered when we were the only guest around so I think it's just her personality. For dinner we shared the Spinach Dip ($9) which comes with toasted flatbread and tortilla chips. I really like that it comes with two different types of carbs to dip but then the spinach dip itself was tiny and you will easily have extra flatbread and chips in ratio to the dip. For our entrees my cousins had the Braised Beef Torta ($11) and one of the Taco entrees ($11-12). It seemed "okay". I had the Breaking Bad Salad ($14) which is probably the world's most unhealthy salad. It had spring mix and romaine, smoked bacon, pulled pork, cheddar jack cheese, chopped egg, tomato, cucumber and crispy fried onions. It was slightly overdressed and heavy for a salad, but an edible option. I'm glad the hotel had a restaurant and it was convenient. My low expectations were met and I survived the evening. 4 stars since we were in Albuquerque but it would be 3 stars in any other decent food scene.

When we left the bar, I checked out the restaurant that was to the right when you walked into the front door of the Copper Lounge. It's has a very nice ambiance and it's not dark like the bar was next door. Don't have any other info on it but looked very nice. I would recommend checking these places out if you are looking for something very different from the usual places.

Most importantly, the drinks are so good! We were enthralled by the fall seasonal cocktail menu, with smoked cinnamon, pumpkin, sweet potato!!, and other delectable fall flavors. The drinks all have a wild and complex combination of flavorings, and they make all their syrups in house. So yummy and such a good experience to sit and sip. Our server came to take our orders and check on us and was very nice.
