Crispy, rich, and comforting in that "I'm definitely ordering another pint" kind of way. The staff keeps things moving--almost impressively so. So I've been coming here off and on for years. I've always loved eating here because it feels like a true pub. I'm not much of a drinker so I definitely do eat more than drink at this place. But I'd like to raise a concern about the prices. I went to get a plate of one of their famous fish and chips the other day and I was floored by the price. Now I do understand that cost of doing business and cost of sourcing fish has gone up in recent years. Totally valid. Still my number one favorite Irish Pub in ABQ!! I FINALLY had their Irish breakfast and it took me back to Ireland! Oh how I missed the black pudding. The Irish breakfast itself was about $22 and is served on Sundays only! They have their Celtic jam sessions on Sunday so it was a great flashback to my time in Ireland. Irish breakfast. Guinness. Celtic music. Gotta love it. If you've never been to Ireland and want a taste, visit here Sunday mornings. Order the Irish breakfast and chow down. Try the black pudding! It's delicious! As we approached Albuquerque after leaving Santa Fe, I asked Diane to find a good lunch spot on Yelp, and she came up with Two Fools Tavern. We parked our car a block away and walked inside and saw a typical woodsy Irish pub with an impressive-looking long bar and some tables. We then sat soon at a table near the front door. Here I enjoyed some Fries and a hot New York style Rula Bula Ruben Sandwich that was packed with Corned Beef and just the right amount of Sauerkraut, Swiss Cheese, and 1000 Island Dressing. The Rye Bread was also well grilled; the Fries skinny. Diane's Fish & Chips consisted of the same Fries, creamy Coleslaw, and two large pieces of battered Haddock that were well bronzed. They were served on newsprint just like in London. After thinking that all that was missing for me was a pickle, I found one on my plate. My wife loves chicken pot pie so I brought her here to try theirs. She said it tasted pretty good but she likes the traditional crust better. I had the fish n chips and the fish was big and delicious. I wasn't crazy about the apple slaw that came with it , to me it was a little bland. Good food, great service, authentic pub ambience- we would definitely come back! FOOD- My husband and I shared the Scotch Eggs (hard boiled eggs wrapped in sausage and breadcrumbs, served with mustard). A bit too tough and bitter for me, but my husband liked them. They're known for their fish & chips, so I ordered a single fillet. It was huge! The tartar sauce really makes the dish - very flavorful. My husband had the cottage pie. He enjoyed it, but he loved his serving of the 15 year old Redbreast Irish whiskey! They have quite the selection. SERVICE- our waitress was amazing! I wish I could remember her name. Several of us visited Two Fools Tavern Sunday evening. I ordered the day's soup which was mushroom and bacon. Delicious! My husband had the Portabello Mushroom sandwich with roasted peppers, spinach and Swiss cheese on sourdough bread. Very Good! Others in our group had the fried fish and they all seemed to enjoy their meals as well. For a drink I ordered the Fool's Gold Cocktail (bourbon, honey, and fresh squeezed lemon juice) Yummy! The waitress was attentive and the order only took a reasonable time for preparation. All good. The problems my husband and I discussed later were (1) the place was so dim we had difficulty reading the menu, (2) the music was so loud and conversations from other diners louder making it next to impossible for those like me who wear hearing aids to hear any of the conversation at our table. I mostly just sat and did not try to yell above the noise and (3) although we sat at a regular height table we all had backless stools. I did see a couple of tables in the back with regular chairs. My back was killing me long before the meal was finished. Therefore, between the noise and uncomfortable stools, my husband and I agreed we did not want to repeat the experience and the reason for 3 stars. Delicious cottage pie and perfect for a cool autumn evening. I love this place for its comfort food, its cozy atmosphere, and the service. Good size portions big enough to eat some and take home some for later. They were busy in a Tuesday evening but it's no surprise because they are that good. The place is dark so it can be hard to read your menu, some other tables were using their phones flash light to read the menu. The interior was classic Irish Pub, very warm and inviting, but it took a while for someone to notice us. Even though there was a Pleae Wait to be Seated sign, they just waved us to go anywhere. Ok. We ordered chips and salsa to start, and had to return them because WOW that salsa was hot. Couldn't eat it. For dinner I order a half portion of fish and chips, and thank goodness I didn't get the full order. It was huge. I also got a Jameson and Guinness, because I'm a walking Irish stereotype. Two Fools has a mangement problem. Management does not seem care enough to correct the long time deficiencies that plague this restaurant. The most consistent complaint is that hostesses and servers can be amazing, but more regularly they are rude, condesending and ruin one's dining experience. After reading ALL of the Yelp reviews spanning over many years to 2026, one thing is readily apparent. Their signature menu item: Fish and Chips is somewhat inconsistent. Sometimes amazing and sometimes medeocre. Also portion size varies. "Single serving was huge!" "More batter than fish." So which is it? Two Fools has been established in Albuquerque for a long time. Because they consistently fill their restaurant to copacity, management does not seem to be eager to address the egregious customer service issues that include rude and hostile hosts, rude servers, and inconsistent food quality. It seems that as long as customers keep coming in the door and tables are filled, management does not care about the customer service and food quality gaps that occur. Read all the Yelp reviews. Lots of five star reviews. Also lots of 1 and 2 star reviews. I don't have an axe to grind with Two Fools. I just wish they would get their shit together to be the amazing restaurant they could be. The food was pretty tasty, I will admit. I got chicken wings and they were done to my liking. I definitely heard others mentioning how their meals they ordered were really good too. However, I did also hear a LOT of complaint about rude wait staff. I personally didn't encounter any, in fact, the waitress helping me out was lovely -- but the amount of times others in my group kept saying how rude the staff are was baffling. I absolutely love Two Fools. I love that they have a pub atmosphere, I adore the wood burning fireplace in the winter, and I'm over the moon about their fish and chips. It is my go to comfort spot and their food is amazing. Best fish and chips in the city plus they have a ginormous whiskey selection. There is a generous serving of hot crispy fries, huge pieces of fish, battered and fried to perfection, along with the house made apple slaw. Comes with delicious house made tartar sauce, that I like to get extra of for my fries. Malt vinegar and ketchup are provided of course to complement your meal. Their Irish nachos are always a winner, crispy house made chips, cottage pie beef, green chile, and a generous covering of cheese, a heaping plateful as big as your head, plenty to share. Jesters pot pie is to die for flaky crust with delicious tender chicken and veggies. The servers and bartenders are always nice and friendly, happy to make a recommendation for you if you just can't choose among all the delicious options. I'm happy they made it through the ART project and COVID. It would have been a shame to lose a place like this. read more

We had an incredible time visiting for lunch this morning. Visiting in from Las Cruces and really wanted to be at an Irish pub since we don't have any. Also, being Irish/Scottish and from the northeast where Irish pubs are abundant I felt at home. We were greeted with live music from a beautiful duet playing Irish tunes. They were amazing. My girlfriend and I split the bookmaker which was served with a delicious au jus, fries, and pickle. So yummy. I also had the green chile and beef soup, which really surprised me in regard to how tasty and fresh it was. The service from our bartender and the staff was excellent. Everyone seemed to be happy to be there on a Sunday morning. I was so happy to experience two fools, I even bought a t-shirt. We will definitely be back next time we come to ALBQ! read more

I've been a solid fan of Two Fools, recommending them to many people, but that ended today. First, I used the restroom and two riches greeted me there, restroom is near the kitchen. I didn't mention this to my wife, we would have left . I ordered my fave: fish & chips. I used to not be able to eat two pieces because the fish was thick and moist. Today the filet was thin as a place mat, dry and tasteless. My wife's favorite pastrami sandwich on rye, we used to bring home half, no need for that as the pastrami portion has now been reduced by half. I hate that they are loosing it, they're now off my list. Less product, worse cooking and charging more-that's a recipe for disaster. Turn that ship of "Two Fools" around. read more

More often than not, I find fish and chips highly disappointing. Fryer was the wrong temp, the batter is poor, the fish isn't fresh, or the portion of fish is small while they give me two potatoes' worth of mediocre fries. (I personally like frites and rarely like other fries, so I wish fish n' salad or fish n' soup would catch on, but I ADHD-digress ) NOT HERE. I've been three times on three separate visits to Albuquerque over a period of 2 years...and the fish is always PERFECT. Big portion (and you can add a piece for extra charge if you've got a big appetite.) And the fries are good (probably great if you like them more than I do!) I've also had the Guinness beef stew, which was really tasty (and I'm not usually a big stew person, either.) But I don't get to go often, so it's hard to move past the delicious fish n' chips! Solid service, generally speaking, sometimes excellent. And the pub itself is pleasant and clean. read more

Delightful server got us water, took drink orders, and got the ball rolling along. Two Bookmaker beef sandwiches, a Reuben, a burger, one Cobb Salad and a Guinness Beef Boxty. Everyone cleaned their plates, except for the massive amount of really good fries on each plate, and some lettuce from the Cobb. So... I guess only one of cleaned their plate. The Boxty guy. Anyway... it was all really good. The place looks like your typical American Irish Pub. The staff we encountered were everything we could want them to be. Nothing says autumn quite like a dark, cozy Irish pub complete with a fireplace and bagpipe music in Albuquerque. On a November Tuesday night, some work colleagues got together to talk shop and relax over comfort food and drinks and weren't disappointed. Hayley and Greg took good care of us. For starters, we shared the Galway Bay salmon, bakers dozen wings, and nachos. All were tasty! The guys had Guinness, Irish coffee, an old fashioned, and pale ale. I stuck with wine but it was surprisingly good. My Whatever Special dinner plate was the perfect amount of food after the apps and drinks. The soup of the day was mushroom, which was thick, creamy, and delicious (if a tad salty). I also had half a warm roast beef sandwich on sourdough with Swiss cheese. One of my dining companions had the Kerryman chopped salad, which didn't look the most appealing but is probably one of the healthier options on the menu.
