Very disappointing. Sunday lunch, my husband and I split the grilled special sandwich,($9.99) sliced chicken with cheese, bacon, lettuce & honey mustard. The bread was nicely grilled, but the sandwich was pretty flavorless. How can bacon not have flavor?! The 'special' included a side of ordinary potato chips and a sliver of a sorry-looking pickle. We shared a bowl of soup, ($5.35), allegedly coconut curry lentil soup. Wow - thick like porridge and all we could taste was salt. It tasted like one of those rehydrated mixes. There was not even a hint of coconut or curry. Don't think we'll go back to Bountiful Bread. This doesn't come close to the quality of Panera's. read more

So many of the reviews of this place compare it with Panera... so I will too. It's very much like a Panera but better in many respects: It's not a chain. Everything is made here fresh. The tables are not as close together as at Panera. (At least during the day) it's brighter. Having been there but once -- we're not from the area -- I can base my evaluation of the food only on the sandwiches my wife and I had. She had and liked the BLTA and I had the roast turkey sandwich, both toasted. I liked mine, too. We each ate half and took the rest away. We may go back tomorrow at least to try the coffee. Good food, good ingredients, reasonable price. But as I stand here watching this guy make my sandwich for 15+ minutes (along with 5 similar sandwiches bc he decided that mass production was the way to go) I've decided that this is likely my last trip. Staff is disrespectful, service is terrible, they have no customer service skills. Crew looks unprofessional. They all need some proper management training. This is my second visit. The wait is terrible. I had 9 people order behind me and leave before me. All I got were two salads. Nothing needed to be cooked. As far as I'm concerned I won't be revisiting anytime soon. I don't even know if there are enough words in the English dictionary that would express my love for the grilled cheese that exists. I recommend strongly getting Pepper Jack and Munster on Ciabatta bread, it will change your life! I wouldn't always suggest coming here if you are in a rush, sometimes they are understaffed, but every staff member has a heart of gold, and will go beyond necessary to make sure you enjoy your food to the utmost degree. There is something about the setup of this place that gives me heart palpitations - and not in a good way. As one of my coworkers says, waiting for your order is like hanging out in a mosh pit when it is busy at lunch time. I like the soups very much and when I do venture in, I am generally very satisfied with my order. I frequent this place often. The bread is to die for! They offer customized egg sandwiches with limitless add-ins and of course a great bread selection. Typically, I go for the antipasto salad. Its huge and includes a mountain of olives, fresh mozzarella, artichoke, the best grilled chicken, and an amazing balsamic dressing. The salad comes with your choice of bread. This is our go to spot while traveling home. It's like Panera, but 10 times better. I love the mozzarella and tomato pesto sandwich. The salads always look good, but I'm too hungry to just get that after all that driving. Baked goods are yummy. While you might wait a few minutes I think that point to it not being "fast" food. During the lunch rush I would expect a few things to be ready to put into a panini press or you'd never eat. read more

Bountiful Bread is one of my favorite soup/salad/sandwich places in the capital region. Having said that this was my first visit since the recent remodeling effort. What happened??? The service line is confusing and the set up just doesn't seem right to move customers through the process. With the proximity to a large state work force this place gets really busy at lunch prime time. And they took out the nice fireplace. My grilled ham and cheese and beef chili were good but the tables were in need of a serious cleaning and both garbage containers were overflowing. The floors hadn't been swept either. It kind of creeped me out that the staff would ignore how dirty the place had become and no one seemed to care. I'm disappointed that the service and general atmosphere of this place has changed. I won't be visiting nearly as often. Time to find a new lunch place. read more

I have been here for lunch twice. It seems to take at least 20 minutes to make a panini, and then it isn't heated all the way through. Yesterday's wait was 25 minutes *after* I placed my order. There were about 8 workers working hard and fast making food behind the counter, but the layout is so inefficient that it takes them twice as long to make a meal as it should. And then everything bottlenecks at their tiny panini grills. The food and quality of ingredients is pretty good. The price is on the high side, but not out of line with its location. I will never stop here at a rush time again. read more

Stopped for a quick lunch while attending LAX at SUNY Albany and had a terrific sandwich--portion was big, tasted fresh and certainly homemade, the pasta salad that came with it was delicious--I would recommend this place for sure. read more

I ordered the Southwest Roastbeef sandwich and it was fantastic. The jalapeno bread it came on was the best part. It was so fresh and had just the right amount of kick. The only drawback to this place is the crowd. After you order your sandwich, you can either sit down or stand around the counter with a handful of other people. When your sandwich is ready, the counter help shouts your name. I went on a Tuesday around 2 PM and it took a good 10 minutes to get the sandwich after I ordered and I felt like I was in the way a lot of the time. But back to the food, this place absolutely blows Panera, Subway, Quiznos, and all those other chain sandwich places away and is worth a shot! read more

Went here for my lunch break at work to try it out. That was a mistake. It was so crowded you could barely walk. Wanted a simple turkey sandwich but I couldn't find it on the menu anywhere so I got a Thanksgiving turkey sandwich with stuffing and cranberry mayo. Usually a very good sandwich combination this one was almost inedible. After waiting 15 minutes to get the sandwich I find it full of cheddar cheese, which it was not listed as having. This was not the good cheddar cheese but cheap, greasy stuff that just didn't go with the theme of the sandwich. The cranberry mayo had no flavor so it just made the sandwich taste more greasy and heavy. I paid $9 for just a sandwich! Not even a drink or anything and barely ate half before I threw it away. Don't see any reason to go back. read more

I used to love to stop by this restaurant, that is until they changed everything! The portbello mushroom salad used to be awesome but they stopped making it. They also used to give you an awesome cheesy breadstick but no more. To top it off they stopped making my favorite shortbread cookies with the chocolate frosting center. Okay so definitely not what it used to be, twice now since renovations we have gone in and been unhappy!! Food hasn't changed, which is great, but the bakery has been horrible both times, no presentation, and no items to choose from. Also the layout for baked goods, who designed that the old counters and displays were so much more inviting, cafeteria anyone??? To top it off we waited at least 15 minutes for a wrap and one panini, at 4:30 with only one person ahead of us!! I used to love this place. Great food and even a nice atmosphere for the type of venue. That's all changed with the renovation. The service is terrible, you can no longer see the array of baked goods when you order so you have nothing to choose from and the seating area is sterile. I tried it once more yesterday and my grilled chiabatta was under cooked-the cheese wasn't melted. What a disappointment. read more

Had the Cuban sandwich- no love put into it. Slapped some ham & pork on to a roll with pickle spears - not pickle chips or a sliced pickle- and SLATHERED a ton of mustard on to it. So much mustard it turned the sandwich soggy and could not taste the cheese. read more

I am so over mayonaisey salads, especially in summer and the macaroni salad was great and loaded with veggies, so it was also pretty. I am extremely disappointed in the service I have gotten within my last few visits. In the last 3 visits, none of my orders have been correct. Today, I ordered the Rainbow Chickpea Power Salad and Chicken Barley Soup. The salad seems to have squash instead of carrots, and has no dressing. I also received the wrong soup...I believe it is the Black Bean soup. For close to $20, I expect to receive what I order, and the service I have received lately has not been well at all. I just do not understand how within my last 3 visits, each order has been wrong. I am very disappointed as I expect more of this place. Sandwiches and salads are pretty good - but check your order before you leave when you call in or pick up. My salads are usually always missing an ingredient (i.e. chicken, when there is chicken in the title of the salad). It's pretty frustrating considering this place isn't cheap and there is usually a wait. read more

This is a restaurant that I have frequented many times. I will never go again. The last time I went I was there for a business meeting with some professors from SUNY. BIG MISTAKE. My group of five purchased food and sat down at a large table. Because of the way service works at Bountiful Bread, some of us sat at the table waiting for the others to get their food before we could all sit, eat and talk. After about a half an hour, as we were discussing buying coffee and dessert (which requred getting in line again), the owner came over and told us there is a "time limit on tables during rush hour". He asked us to leave. Some in our party had not finished their food. We left and will never return. Expensive, rude, high caloric, mediocre food with very short sighted management. read more

This is my favorite place to pick up lunch when I go to my friends house nearby. Mind you all we ever order is the Tuscan salad. The lettuce and tomatoes are fresh and there's plenty of it and the cheese is delicious. We like it so much I'm afraid to try anything else and be disappointed. Make sure to ask for extra breadsticks they are so good! Order in advance if it's out once time it gets really busy but the pick up is quick. I definitely wouldn't recommend eating in the restaurant itself as it is busy and seating is limited! It is a little bit expensive but it's a treat. read more

Although the beet and wild mushroom salad sounded delicious, I went with the classic Cobb. I wasn't disappointed---the presentation and amount of food was good, with everything placed in a large bowl. The ingredients were fresh. I will be sure to come again. read more
