We typically come here almost every month. But more like every other month. It's such a cute place. The ambience is really relaxed and great. Kids are welcome and they even allowed people to bring their dogs (I have to admit, I appreciate when people take their dogs to the outside area though). I really like their flatbreads most of the time. This time they had a house made marinara sauce with sausage, and I believe pepperoni. Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of that because my son ate it all before I could. I think we were all really hungry, because no pictures of food was taken ‍. My son did have the Philly cheesesteak which is what he gets all the time and he loves it. I also ordered their wings with light seasoning. They had a great house salad with a champagne vinaigrette, which I loved. As always, the service was really great. The staff is inviting and friendly. Very attentive! Made sure that they cleared anything that was on the table once we were done with it. Water was constantly refilled which we appreciate it. Service was ok, not great. We sat outside, which has a nice patio, except for people from the apartments smoking around the area. Unfortunately, the food was not good. We ordered a beer, a glass of house wine, Macaroni and Cheese with Pulled Pork, and the Wagyu Sliders. The Macaroni was dry and tasted like it had been reheated in the microwave. Seriously not good. Big open and airy brew pub and I love it here. Service is slow but it was 4pm and maybe the staff was being mellow. Loved the choices of beer here. Went to Bottle Taps last night. Miserable, dreary, wet evening outside. Walked in---struck by warm air and catchy music being sung by Michelle Lambert. She plays the violin and sings fabulously!!! We bellied up to the bar and order a beer and a wedge salad. Wow! Great beer, but even more amazing was the wedge salad. We consider ourselves "wedge salad aficionados", so this is quite the compliment. Five-plus stars, for sure!! Well color me impressed! I dined at Bottle Taps last night with my mom and we had a great experience. We were greeted and seated immediately, our server answered all of our questions with a smile, our order was taken promptly and our food and drinks came out quickly. I sampled 4 beers and absolutely fell in love with the Cucumber Kolsch from High Water Brewing. Definitely getting a pint of that next time. For our meal we shared the Cured Olives ($7), my mom had the Roasted Vegetable Salad ($12) and I ordered the Stuffed Portabelini ($4..GET THIS!) and the Caprese ($3). All of the food was tasty and well-presented. As for the restaurant itself, it is modern yet minimalistic, there are plenty of TVs, and there is a room off to the side that would be great for a private party. This should be a GREAT place -- lots of interesting beers/ciders (30 taps and lots more in bottles), a pretty decent food offering (and what I've had of it has been very good), and fairly relaxing joint. HOWEVER... The service staff is terrible. They seem more interested in chatting with each other or a favorite guest than in being attentive and noticing when new people arrive... and they seem to have no knowledge of any of the beers they have to offer, so you're on your own to flag down a server to get an order in and tofigure out what you might like (luckily they have Digital Tap so you can check out the taps from your phone including BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program) Beer Style references for each. Update:14 Nov 2019 -- the last couple of times I've come, the service was actually very good; however, tonight an exact repeat of being ignored when I came in solo... and the place wasn't very busy (well less than half of the tables occupied). The server was out and about for a while going to other tables, but never looked in my direction and then disappeared into the back. After about 15 minutes, I just left and went to McKays instead. I really want to like and support Bottle Taps; but, they are driving me away with such horrible service. This is a nice neighborhood pub/restaurant. The waitress was very friendly and welcoming. A group of us went here for a weekend brunch. Can you imagine a weekend brunch with a beer? Yes! I ordered a breakfast panini. It was a great breakfast sandwich of scrambled eggs, ham, and provolone cheese with berries on the side. It paired well with a Modern Times Pilsner. It took me awhile to select a beer because the beer menu has several items. The drink menu is on a tablet. Bottletaps has a great selection of beer, cider, as well as non alcoholic beverages. My wife had Belgian waffles. They were truly Belgian waffles with a crunchy crust and a bit of sweetness. My wife also had a watermelon kombucha. It was refreshing and delicious. The waitress was helpful with my beer selection and my wife's kombucha selection. She came to the table several times to check on us. She was nice and not intrusive at all. The restroom are gender neutral restrooms. There is a cozy outside patio area to hangout on warm days This is a nice neighborhood restaurant. We had a group of 15. Probably wasn't helpful that people arrived at different times for the wait staff. We had a large party so they put us in a separate room since we made a reservation with another large group. Nice that there was a tv so we could watch the Olympics. Yelp listed this restaurant as a gastropub so I didn't expect tapas as part of the menu. Most of us ordered a few tapas and beers or sodas. We had vegetarians in our group as well. The tapas were by the piece. Small but very tasty. I had the portobellini, tri tip crostini and mac and cheese. Loved all 3. Also had the English pub toffee for dessert that had bits of bacon. Toffee was great! The craft beers list was given to us on digital devices. Confusing since other menus for food and wine were on paper. For a group as big as we were, we probably didn't order much. And since part of our group was vegetarian, there was a small choice for them. But when we wanted to order, it was hard to get our wait staff's attention. Just finished having a dual 40th/41st GHS class reunion at BottleTaps and it was the perfect place! We had over 130 people and were able to utilize the inside of the restaurant as well as the patio area, and it was just the right place...people came dressed in everything from cocktail attire to shorts & flip flops and I believe everyone felt right at home. We worked with the owners on the menu, along with special dietary needs, and they even accommodated us as we added over a two dozen additional guests less than two days before the event. The staff graciously set out 'to go' boxes for the guests to take as they left (filled with food from the kitchen that hadn't been brought out...apparently our group was too busy talking to eat all the food) . The staff was super about playing 1970's and 1980's music (our request) and checked in periodically to make sure the volume was good, along with making sure all the guests were happy with food and drinks. Our event was scheduled to end at 10pm, and althou many had left, 20+ classmates remained for an additional two hours catching up with folks who they hadn't seen in decades. I was truly impressed that the owners and staff went the extra mile to continue to accommodate our group beyond our contracted time. Note: Don't be fooled by the idea this is only a beer place, this is a solid gastropub! I have wanted to come in since it opened. For whatever reason just hadn't. Now that I have I feel like I've been missing out. The menu is really quite something. I was told the Reuben and Cubano were the best to get. I had the Reuben slider and half a Cubano. Both were amazing. The Cubano came with a side of beer cheese chowder kind of soup which was so flavorful and rich. Their beer selection is incredibly robust. They have tablets with details on their current beers, they even show the keg volume left which is cool so you don't miss out on one. On top of what they have on draft, they have a HUGE refrigerated section with beers from everywhere...even some kombucha. The inside is just right as far as size, setting, etc. Nice minimal gastropub. It's not you bright or too dark. Lets get right to it! You'll find this place somewhat surrounded by a new housing complex. I had no issues finding parking, although my friend had to debate about parking his Tesla in this one particular parking spot. The spot has an EV charger in a disabled space. (head scratch) Really??? He wasn't sure if he should park there or not, since he's not handicapped. Strange right? I've never seen that before. But oh well, 'first world' issues right, lol. And I'm sure it's in no way BottleTaps' fault. With that said, back to my review... Now, I've gone here to kick it on several occasions, especially after work. And every time I've visited, I'd say they've got a pretty decent rotation on their local crafted beers. Majority are from Shadow Puppet or Altamont which are in fact local, but to me they're still simply enjoyable beers that I can get when I visit the actual breweries in Livermore. When it comes to drinking here, I tend to try what's different. And being a stout drinker, I'll sometimes even ask for a good pale ale or porter that's on tap. This place usually fits the bill with variety too! For my stout compadres, they'll usually have a good milk or coffee stout, but I've yet to try a peanut butter one here fyi. It might just be bad timing, idk. I've seen citrus, sours, and cider drinks here but I never tried them either. I have seen meads and IPAs on the menu, but I don't care to try them at all. The cool part is seeing how much tap is left on the tablet that reflects a lil' fueltank-looking beer keg indicating how much is left on tap. I'd say most of their craft brews range from $2.50 to $10 a pint in price. Not bad at all! When it comes to their food menu, they've got small bar food bites along with large filling entrees. Just keep in mind this place is a taproom, so don't expect a long list of grub to eat from. But for the most part, their food choices are really really good! We usually get a Pub Pretzel ($12) that comes with mustard, beer cheese, and bacon bits. They've got a 'smoregasborg' of cheese and crackers, and even serve beef sliders or pastrami sliders @$4 each. Those are also nice and filling. I have not tried their sandwiches, pasta, salads, or chowder, but they all range from $10 to $18, depends. I've seen them come out of the kitchen lookin' savory! But like my picky choice in beer, I've got a picky choice in what to eat. One time I did try to reserve their side room that'll accommodate a large-sized group (of at least 30 people) only the dates they had available didn't fit our schedule. No big deal as I didn't get a reservation, but for the most part the owner did make calls to me the next few days in an attempt to figure out if they can fit me in. Next time I'll just call at least a month in advance for that room. But as for the rest of the wait staff, they have been pretty courteous and on-point. Kudos! In conclusion, and for the most part, I really like this place and I'll be back. It sort of resembles a few of the newer brew houses in Orange County or even some in Portland. Both times were Saturday evenings, and both times we didn't have problems with seating which was amazing since the place is great. Maybe because it might be a little away compared to other places, but it's worth the extra few minutes of driving. Their beer selection is great, they've got 30 on tap, and more bottles to select from. They've had a good enough variety that I never felt like getting a bottle. You can also always look at how much they have left in the kegs for the taps, and what bottles you can buy online. They also list what pours you want, half, 8oz, 16oz, and how much each one is. Food has been great as well. Their wagyu sliders, and beer chowder were good. Mac and Cheese, and pastrami sliders were delicious. The good sized Pastrami Reuben is excellent, and I saw why it was featured in a magazine- it goes well with any beer. The Cubano panini wasn't as good as I hoping for. I came here last night with my family to celebrate my one year wedding anniversary with my husband, and we originally sat outside but found it was a bit chilly and the seating outside wasn't to comfortable. We walked inside and were amazed at the beer fridge they had by their keg taps, it was truly incredible. I don't thing I've seen something similar in this area, the menu is a bit small if I'm being honest. When we all were reading the menu we felt that it wasn't worded very well, and was a bit confusing. Nonetheless the food was pretty good, I was a bit disappointed in the tapas, as their version is actually small plates and not what I was thinking. Would highly recommend the baked Brie to share, it takes a while to come out but it worth it. I've been here quite a few times now. Pre Covid, and now during a pandemic. I must say it's always been very enjoyable. The stouts that I've had were nothing short of absolutely delicious. They have very unique ciders, that you can add a shot of balsamic to. So good, and a fun way to tantalize my taste buds. They have a hugely impressive refrigerator case of very beer/ale/ipa that you can possibly imagine. Pretty cool! Solid. I'm a fan. Pretty new, large open space with patio action. Modern multi-tap, all craft brews, with gastro pub grub. They have tons of bottled craft brews also, which can be taken home or consumed on premise. Very modern tap menu. You scroll on a tablet and it is updated on point. Beers rotate rapidly, so be flexible and don't get stuck on your "favorite". The listing provides prices, size of pours and what I've never seen...a level meter on how empty/full a keg is. On my out, I was able to try 2 brews from Seismic Brewing out of Santa Rosa. A kolsch to start, and a crisp hopped IPA for my meal. Both outstanding, so much so, that I want to visit the brewery now. Finished with an Allagash Curieux, which is a slow sippin' trippel. Such a fantastic ride. And everybody in our group had their own ride, so we shared sips and opinions, which made for a fun educational evening. ON TO THE FOOD: Banquet Pretzel Board ($30/5*) Holy Mutha Mary is this impressive. There were 6 of us and it fed us nicely for an appetizer. A huge freshly warmed pretzel laid on a massive cutting board. It was the most tender pretzel I've ever had. You just pulled off a piece with ease, yet it still had an elastic chew on the outside. Meats were soprasetta, mortadella and prosiuotto. All were ideal and sliced super thin. I think they threw some chopped bacon into a ramekin and that was the true hit. Smokey, porky and not overly salty which most are. Cheeses were smoked cheddar, manchego and gouda. Again very ideal. A beer cheese sauce is very conducive for the dipping of the pretzel. And these slightly sweet and crunchy marcona almonds round out this appetizer plate for the ages. A must get, if feeding 4+. Smoked Meatballs ($3 each/4*) Surprisingly smoky. Very meaty and almost dense. Good seasoning, just a tad gummy from the binding agent. But pairs well with their pureed potato and very light gravy. Spicy Shrimp ($4 for 3/4*) Actually the spicy denotes to the dipping sauce, which is a chunky garlic-red pepper sauce which is pretty darn legit. The shrimp was just barely heated, already cooked shrimp like from Costco, with a toss with some herbs. The good is the shrimps were moist and tender and really went well with the pairing sauce. Grilled Asparagus ($4/4*) Only tried a bite and was proper. Seemed more roasted than grilled, but again, I only had one. Perfectly al dente. Mac n Cheese ($6/3*) This looked way better than it tasted. Looks wise, it looked perfect. Crisp bacon and toasted panko on top. Gooey cheesey pasta glowing like lava. The topping was great, tasted exactly how it looked. But the mac n cheese itself was so darn bland, that I couldn't believe how you can make a cheese sauce NOT taste like cheese. I wanted to salt and pepper it, but no shakers on tables. I just used the spicy sauce from my shrimp dish to zing it up, and thank goodness it did. Saved. Steak Tartare ($8/3*) Interesting rendition. First, this is the chunkiest cuts of meat I've ever seen for a tartare dish. Usually it is so fine, it resembles ground beef. By making it that fine, it really absorbs and meshes well with the sauce and garnishments. Also it spreads onto the toast with ease. Here it is cubed into tiny chunks and tossed with a soy-like sauce. So to me it was more of a beef "Poke" than a tartare. Nothing wrong with that, just threw me for a loop. Awesome place to bring a group, so you can sample and see a wide range of their offerings. It beats eating nachos and potato skins all day long.
