I usually go on Tuesdays for Trivia night. Great atmosphere every time. I also think it's awesome that they have an outdoor area that's pet friendly! I don't usually drink beer but I'd definitely come here to socialize and enjoy their food. I've had their appetizers and they serve huge portions of the swamp fries and loaded fries. They are very satisfying. Those swamp fries are no joke! Generous portions of BACON, pork butt bbq. I'm drooling just thinking about it. Did I mention bacon? Yum. Their fried pickles are pretty good too. Best part about this place is that it is always lively. I really wish they would expand trivia to include other themes besides pop culture. Great location near Tinseltown Theatre and nice large patio area and open air restaurant. Happy hour and a large assortment of beer, with a nice menu of sandwiches, apps and hamburgers. On my first visit, I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. It took about 30 minutes for our food to come out which meant we had to rush through our meal in order to make it to our movie. It appeared that the manager was aware of the kitchen being slow and was walking around apologizing for the wait. The chicken was cooked well and was not tough and was juicy, but lacked any real flavor, so it could use some seasoning or marinating during the cooking process. The onion rings had a good flavor. The pretzel appetizer is served with beer cheese sauce, and mustard, but they were nothing special as far as flavor. Trivia night, and many specials, so it seems like a good place for entertaining. Hopefully on our next trip the kitchen will be a little more on the ball. read more

Stopped in for happy hour after a long day at work. They offer $1 off any of their in-house taps (not guest) beers, which pretty much all run $4 on happy hour. Overall, they feature about 50 different beers on draft and more on bottles. Varieties range from sours, to IPAs to lagers and stouts, everything has at least a couple variations. You can also order a $1.50 (usually) taster pour of any draft beer, so you can create your own flight of as many or as few as you like. My personal favorite was the in-house sour, light, refreshing, bright, and of course, sour. The bartender was informed of the beer variety and was willing to offer opinions on what to try. The environment is very laid back, with ceiling fans whirring about the very open air tasting room. T-shirt and shorts would be as welcome as an after work business suit. read more

Bottlenose is a sister brewery to Green Room brewery at the beach. There are tons of in house brewed beers that they offer and they also have Green Room brews on tap like Count Shakula (oatmeal stout). I enjoy the Oktoberfest beer - seasonal and their IPA's. There are so many to try that I haven't picked a favorite yet. Typically it is the bartenders who also prepare the food here. We've actually gotten free food here before because customers didn't want to wait long enough to stick around for it. Because of that I would not come here on an empty stomach. I've actually never ordered food before but hear it is good if you are willing to put up with the wait. I enjoyed the flatbreads that were gifted to us. There is a ladies night Wednesday- half off beer and wine There's also a run group on Thursdays at 6:30 and Trivia starts Thursdays at 7. They have many community board games that you can play and have tv's with some sports games on. Jumping into the Jacksonville craft beer scene has been fun. I can really say I've only dabbled since there are tons of breweries and so little time. I just heard the words local a lot, and found out that Intuition, Green Room and Bold City were just the tip of the iceberg. I'd later learn about Wicked Barley, Veterans United, Aardwolf. My friend Austin told me about a place that was right next to the Mellow Mushroom by my house with a great selection of brews: Bottlenose Brewing. The location is convenient - walking distance to the theater, if you wanna see a movie, nezt to Mellow, if you want some pizza, or easy to pair with sush if you had to Bento first. Yes, I said sush. Also, this isn't a downtown park headache or busy with the madness of Towncenter. You'll find a spot, easy peasy. Not Exactly a Brewhouse Strictly speaking, this isn't a brewery, it's a brewhouse. They serve local brews, but don't brew their own beer yet. The Bottlenose website says that the brewing equipment is on its way. One thing that sold me on the idea of this place, aside from the convenient Southside location, was that I heard they had some decently priced late night bites that were pretty tasty. (Thanks, Megan). I actually have yet to explore the food menu, but soon! Try ALL THE BEERS! There's enough flavors in the beer to be the equivalent of smorgasbord meal. Almost every time I've visited Bottlenose (maybe 4 or 5 times), the crowd is thin. Whether it be a Tuesday or Friday. But I like this. It's comfortable, not too noisy and an inviting venue. There's a nice long tap list, a few wines and no liquor. In the corner, you can find a stack of board games and also giant jenga. The bartenders are friendly, helpful, and never give you that, "oh I'm too busy to let you sample a sour or a wheat beer tonite." Sure they might wonder why I want to try a lager and a chocolate stout before committing, but they don't seem to mind. The place also has space for live music, which spices up the atmosphere and can bring a little life to your weekend. The brew list features some MIA beers, which is fun to see as I got to visit that brewery this April. Worth the Drive? We've dragged our Riverside friends out, and I think they noticed that it didn't have the hustle and bustle and luster of a beach bar or Birdies. But the Arlington folk and beer fans have a different opinion - it's worth the drive and then some. It's an excellent post-long-day-of-work, catch-up-with-a-friend spot. Tommy might shake his locks and mention the beach. Chris might give a shout out to Green Room. Joey might want to join your sing-along sesh if the live music starts to get close to karaoke level. I am so happy to have a good brewery near where I live! I love that Bottlenose has so many selections on tap with a very wide range of their own brews, a few guest brews, and some more common IPAs. They have a large indoor and outdoor area, and have games readily available for you to place with your friends. When I went, we got a nice corner high top and played scategories all night long! Of course we got some snacks as well. We tried the swamp fries, pierogi and kielbasa, and the pretzel sticks. My favorite was the swamp fries. This was a cheesy, meaty pile of delicious. Drenched in beer cheese and loaded with pork on pork on pork, it was the perfect compliment to some great beer!!! Im not a drinker so I cannot comment on the beer but I will say it is a large selection. We did partake in some apps and burgers though. The fried pickles were a nice thick cut and well-breaded (not too thin a batter but not too heavy either). We devoured the Swap Fries so fast it would make your head spin. They were truly addicting! The fries were nice a crispy with a tasty seasoning with a hint of spice. Then they were topped with roasted pork, spicy slaw, bbq sauce, bacon and beer cheese. Since these fries were so good I decided to take it a step further and get the Swamp Burger. The burger had all the goodies from the fries. The burger was cooked to my liking a medium rare but the bun was just a tad too thin to hold all that burger goodness in. I didnt let a thin bun stop me from enjoying every bite. A few gals and I stumbled upon BB, which is the old World of Beer location. It's definitely nice to have a brewery in this area, especially by the movie theater. Their food menu has plenty of options from salted pretzels, pierogis, and sandwiches. We each had a flight so we got to taste 12 of the BB beers. My personal favorite were the IPA, Double IPA, and Lazy Days. The IPAS both have wonderful hoppy flavor with an extra kick in the Double. Lazy Days is a perfect beer for a hot summer day. I also enjoyed the oatmeal stout, however it is so heavy that this taste was plenty for my palate. I could handle a full glass of that. Overall, I liked the beers and would be interested in trying the other brewers that distribute to Bottlenose. PLUS, their flight price is extremely reasonable at $5 for any beers brewed by Bottlenose. That's a killer deal!! read more

I am giving them the benefit of the 3.5 stars I would like to give them. The place is still pretty new. The staff is ok, not particularly friendly. You have to order at the bar it seems and then they bring out your food. Table service would be nice. They have a couple games like Jenga laying around, so that is a nice touch. There are a bunch of TVs in the place over the bar with various movies and shows on. The atmosphere is ok, not great, not terrible. The menu is pretty small. If you don't eat breaded chicken you are in for a burger. If you don't do gluten, well you are going to get a caesar salad. That is what I got. It was pretty good, served in a paper boat on a small pizza tin. I also saw the beer cheese and pretzel, which looked nice. The burgers look pretty decent. The selection of fried foods is decent. There is a good selection of micro brewed beers including some of their own and a pretty big selection of other local and florida brews. I tasted the home brewed pina colada beer. A bit sweet for my taste but it was good. I was disappointed to learn if you don't like beer you are pretty well stuck with soda or tea. A lot of places are now carrying hard water on tap or at least in a can, that might be a good option for this location. So while the visit was pleasant enough, it just was not special in any way and was just adequate. With the hundreds of choices within a 5 mile radius I will probably not come back. You should try it out yourself though and make your own call. read more

Stopped by on a Saturday night around 8:30 with two girlfriends to check out this "new" brewery in Tinseltown area. We were surprised to hear Bottlenose Brewing has been open since April 2017!! Where have we been??? Bottlenose was not busy and has a huge beer selection. We walked right up to the bar and sat down. We didn't partake in any of the food menu items, but each enjoyed a flight of 4 local Bottlenose beers for $5! Service was ok. We were surrounded by tons of big screen TVs. When we walked in, I scanned their humongous beer menu and knew that I was going to love this place after I saw that they had at-least 5 different ipa beers and a seasonal pumpkin ale on tap, plus a menu that screamed "I've got a buzz need yummy food". Their menu includes a slew of burgers, sandwiches, fried apps, and a whole lotta choices for loaded fries. I had the pumpkin ale and the hubs the ipa, and both of them were fantastic. We also had the American burger and the loaded baked potato fries and they too were amazing. Our food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. The bar itself is laid back, clean, and stocked with plenty of games to play. Happy hour is Monday through Friday from 3-7 pm. If you have never been here, you are missing out! read more

They have a great beer selection of about a dozen of their own beers and about a dozen guest taps, which are mostly Florida beers. They have bottles from other states as well. And they serve food almost til closing time (2AM)!! There's no wait staff, you have to order food from the bar and they will bring the food to your table. They also do flights, so you can try anything on their tap list. They are fairly quick with their food service, prices are reasonable and the food is great. I'm a big fan of their fries :) read more

Came here around 5:30pm on a Friday night and this place just wasn't for us. The place has a really nice indoor/outdoor bar area, is seat yourself, order at the counter, and has a pretty good tap list. The problem was when we got there, there were only two people working the entire bar and the place was already pretty busy. We had to wait a bit to order food and drinks. We got the Fried Pickles, my wife got the Hot Chicken Bites, and I got the Swamp Burger. Food came out timely, but just wasn't good. The burger itself was okay, but the pork butt on it was meh, the Fried Pickles were bland, and the Hot Chicken Bites were terrible. The dry rub was caked on, had no spice at all, and had a similar texture to the Cinnamon Challenge. Again, when I went to pay our tab, I had quite the wait. To top it all off, the bill I got only had the total due and did not break down what we actually purchased. I had to think through each item we bought and add them up real quick to make sure it was right. Had I had a few beers, this would have been problematic. Overall, would not recommend and will not be back. If you do decide to go, go for the beer and skip the food. read more

This was my first time at Bottlenose and it was a pleasant experience. Some friends and I decided to try something new for a Saturday hangout. What drew us to this place was that they had TVs (wanted to watch the World Cup) and a good menu and most importantly... beer! The inside area was very spacious with lots of high top tables, a few booths and several mounted TVs. The outside patio was a cool area where they had a few games like Jenga and ping pong and on the plus side it was covered... which is good because it poured while we were there. Since it was our first time, my friend and I decided to go with flights so we could get a taste for some of their home brews. I actually enjoyed all of them except the Tangerine golden ale, it did not taste like tangerine at all to me. I was pretty impressed that they had 12 house beers they brew themselves with being fairly new. One complaint I do have is our little flight glasses weren't chilled so the beer was not cold for long and got warm very fast... and unless you're in Europe no one likes warm beer. We decided to get a few apps to try and share. One thing to note, you have to go up to the bar to order all beer and food. There are no servers. We ordered the hot chicken bites (mild) with a side of hot, soft pretzels with mustard and beer cheese and the beer cheese fries. I must say, they have the BEST beer cheese ever!! Omg it was sooooo good! I love trying beer cheese at places that have it and this is one of my new favorites! The hot chicken bites were good, not your average wing sauce. It seemed more of an oil base almost but still had good flavor. This is definitely a place worth checking out if you have a group or want to watch sports. A movie night at Tinsel Town meant a search for food and beers before the show. None of the happy hours in the area were speaking to us, so my friend checked her Yelp bookmarks for anything interesting. Bottlenose Brewing popped up and we decided to give it a go. The place is hiding behind Tilted Kilt which is unfortunate. I'm never setting foot in that horrid chain or its parking lot. If it wasn't for my friend I would've missed out on an awesome little joint. It's a nice space with a solid patio and comfortable inside seating. We slid into a spot at the bar to better surveil their options. Bottlenose doesn't brew beer yet, but in the next 3 weeks or so they'll have their first beer available for the public. I'm excited to see what they have in store. We ended up going with an IPA and an Imperial Stout accompanied by the Bottlenose Burger and their Hot Chicken Bites. Good decisions across the board. The food surprised me with its flavors and quality. BTW the Hot Chicken Bites are serious and if you order them hot be prepared for delicious hellfire. The bartenders were incredibly welcoming. We chatted about the beers they had, the beers they're brewing, and the history of the brewery. Even the patrons chimed in with friendly banter. It was a lot of fun hanging out there. They've just released their own brews, 16 now on tap, including lagers, IPAs and Double IPAs, and a couple of stouts, along with their wide selection of other local brews and the best that Florida has to offer. You can try a sample of anything that piques your interest from their large screen menus or go for a flight for variety. If you want to know anything about what you're drinking, Head Brewer Chas is always happy to tell you everything you want to know. Dude knows his stuff. My coworkers and I enjoy Ladies Night every Wednesday after work, where we enjoy $1 glasses of wine. Tuesday is Trivia Night. They have several screens so you can cheer on your favorite teams. Then there is the food. The food is GOOD. You're going to enjoy whatever you choose (hint: go for the Bottlenose burger and thank me later). A friend and I killed some time here one afternoon when I was visiting Jacksonville, and really enjoyed it! They have a good variety on both the beer and food menus. For beer, I tried an IPA and a fruit ale, and enjoyed both. My friend loves Gose beers and was excited they had one as a guest tap. We got some snacks as a bread layer so as to not be drunk on a Saturday afternoon, and can vouch for both the pretzels (which come with an awesome cheese sauce) and the onion rings. The last time I was here my wife and had great time, food was great and of course the beer was amazing. Unfortunately this time the food was definitely not. The beer, still amazing which is great for a brewery. If this review was for beer alone it would be five stars. Due to limited kitchen staff they had an equally limited menu, so only flatbreads, which is totally understandable. But the flatbreads were not good. Super chewy, sauce so fresh you could taste the can, and only enough kielbasa that, when combined from the whole flat bread, was barely enough for one piece. My son got the pizza flatbread which was the exact same thing except it had pepperoni. He's four and said it tasted like a lunchable, so he loved it. I am glad this space, formerly World of Beer, has reopened.. and I'm glad to have checked out Bottlenose. They have an awesome selection of local beers on tap, pretty much all hovering around $5/$6. Their menu is not extensive, buts it's packed with all the important stuff.... mac n cheese (cooked on a griddle for a little crunchy with your creamy!), spicy chicken bites, soft pretzel sticks, and sandwiches if you're looking for a little more than just a finger food. Met up with some friends to this new spot. If you like local beer and tv's then yay. Dog friendly too. Their fries were double battered or something and were good. Their side salad was had a good mix of greens and their dressing was homemade. I liked it. The Mac and cheese was disappointing. I didn't really taste flavor at all. The beer. My friend had a flight and there was a pineapple something that I liked. They had plenty of choices. I loved this stout Amber Ale. The whole name I can't remember cause it was too weird. It was really open and airy and air conditioning was great even with a whole wall gone. The bartenders were nice and quick but we had to go to the bar to order more beer or to get food. As a local, we like the beer and burgers at Bottlenose Brewing. They brew their own tasty beer and you can even buy a jug to take home which makes us very happy. The burgers are smaller that what seems to be the norm these days, but quite frankly, I think the size is perfect. (You hate to overeat when you're out trying to drink a bunch of beer.) Male server on Saturday 01/29 was extremely dismissive. I've been a regular customer since open but this interaction has encouraged me not to come back. We asked if they had a sports game the server said "I'll check" and proceeded to wash glasses. The service has declined over the years and this kind of service will sink the business.
