On the Sip in San Marco tour, I popped into the Voodoo Brew Pub and, with my ticket, enjoyed a free sample of Raging Blonde malt ale. It's more like a strawberry blonde and full bodied to only have 5.1% alcohol volume. I got an order of the jumbo wings, sriracha hot honey flavor, crispy. The wings are described as smoked then flash fried. To be honest, I'm used to one or the other. The wings were tasty. They took a while due to more patrons, but as a consolation, I got another free 4 oz sample. Overall... I'm satisfied. read more

The food was just okay but the beers were excellent! We stopped in while exploring San Marco and decided to grab some food and drinks before continuing our exploration. The group made the executive decision to get two appetizers the tots and the big pretzel. The tots were cooked perfectly, but the kimchi on top was a surprising choice. It was good, but the kimchi made some of the tots a little bit soggy. The big pretzel was in fact, big, but it was very bland. I've definitely had way better pretzels at other places however it was still good and I would still get it in the future for a big group. No the star of the show were the beers. I tried a few but my absolute favorite was the PB&J sour. The PB&J sour absolutely blew my mind. It tasted exactly like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and honestly it kind of almost had a knack for filling me up because my brain thought I was also eating. I'm not totally sure I could drink tons of the sours, but I absolutely would get it at some point every single time I go to VooDoo. I might even have to make VooDoo a regular stop when I go to San Marco. We went to the upstairs bar, and the bartender was super friendly and welcoming right from the moment we went in, which also made me really like this place. My friends and I went to Voodoo Brewing on a Sunday for our monthly book club meeting. The restaurant is good for big groups but is a little dark. I enjoyed my wine and fries and my friend enjoyed her salad, but there was a miscommunication with service and the staff was unsure who was in charge of our table. There's a decent selection of beers on tap. We were told they are a full bar but only carry one of each liquor, or so I recall. I ordered the Raging Blonde, then the Orange Crush. Fun open atmosphere with a unique take on bar food. The pull pork nachos are a good size serving to share. I like the interesting selection of pizzas. If you can handle spice, I recommend the sweet heat! There are also nice salads and quinoa bowls if you want to eat a little healthier. It was held upstairs and the temp felt great, out of the heat! I enjoyed the best sour I've ever had, the PB&J. I also had an Lacto-Kooler which had good flavor and came in a fun green color! The bar upstairs was open for business and the bartender was super sweet! I had some BBQ nachos and some wings and both were great! We were upstairs. Place is huge and has a great feel. Industrial-ish with the brick. I love it. Reminds me of my previous home state. We had a couple beers and the brisket dip. Beers were fine. For the most part similar selection to what you're getting anywhere in town. The brisket dip itself was pretty good but I would have been happier if it was a little creamier. Seemed a little dry. Also the chips seemed like they had been fresh at some point that day but not so much when we got them. Service was good. Bartender was a super nice guy and helpful. Enjoyable to speak with. I stopped by during the day to pickup lunch to go. And while it was very quiet, I may return to try the beer at some point. My suggestion, however is to eat first. While Jacksonville is a city of mediocre pizza (Pie95 excepted), this may have been the absolute worst. The crust was like cardboard: even Dominos has a fresher taste. he sauce was too sweet and bland, and the cheese was palid and flavorless. The bartender was super friendly, and I liked the vibe, but the pizza was for a lack of a better word: awful. I hope to come back to try their beer and Happy Hour sometime, but I will definitely eat first. read more

Outstanding energy and fun vibe at this place! its a two story awesome beer hall which also serves the best cocktails with the best names such as 'slayer' or 'soul sucker' and all made with a solid blend of awesome flavors. I loved the pretzel and the dips that came with them. The shredded Brussel sprout salad was amazing and the loaded tots were decadent and complicated. This is a pretty cool brewery. It has two stories of accessible space and provided ample seating. It is nicely located in the heart of San Marco, hard to miss it! I don't drink like I used to but I tried their berry sour and it was okay. I wasn't super fond of the heavy blue coloring because it definitely carried over in the taste of the beer, making it taste very artificial unfortunately. I would opt for something else if I came here again. My husband enjoyed a lager beer, which he said was good. Cool addition to the area, the brewery has a fun vibe to it and the setup is very fun. They have games and tvs so there is plenty to do. I noticed they also had a food menu, which is good to know since not every brewery has that. Next time I come, I plan to try out some of their food options. We had a pretty good experience here. read more

Love the vibe here and I enjoyed my meal but there was some confusion when the food was delivered. The food came out at different times. There were 7 in our party. The first to be served was done when the last was served. A few people didn't get quite what they ordered. I'm gluten free and very sensitive. If you can have your food from cross contaminated oil, then there will be more options for you but there were still quite a few options for someone as sensitive as me. Im going to start off by saying that the burger I had (the Foodoo burger) was delicious! I would order a burger from here for sure. I usually like my meats to be cooked medium rare to medium well (depending on what it is). But our server outright admitted that they've seen many burgers be undercooked so if I wanted to get what I *actually* wanted, she recommended getting it done "medium well," and she was right. The blackberry margarita was good, but pretty underwhelming considering how I've heard so many good things about it. The reason why this is a three star review is because I think they need to figure out how they're going to do service. When walking in, there's a sign that says "please seat yourself," which I'm fine with usually. However, all of the empty tables on the first floor were completely dirty. My friend and I didn't want to take up a big table, so we just used some napkins from the napkin back on the cart against the wall to wipe off the table. We never got any silverware or napkins. Silverware was actually nowhere to be seen on the first floor, we would have to go up to the second floor and find the small cart that's up there for some silverware. Having no napkins available is awful. Luckily, on the cart of random things against the wall, there was a pack of napkins (still in the brown paper wrapping) that we pulled from to clean the table and use for ourselves. I really wanted to like the Voodoo Brewing Co - Jax location so I want to believe that it's growing pains and that service will be better. We stopped by recently to check it out. They knocked down some walls and combined the 2 restaurants that used to be there to make it a big roomy brewery with very fun esthetics downstairs and upstairs. Unfortunately, service is very slow and the bartenders don't seem to want to be there. When we entered around 10pm on a Friday, we kind of just wandered around to take a peak at everything. There's a sign that says "please seat yourself" at the front but most of the tables were dirty. We ended up sitting up at the bar and it took a few minutes before anyone even acknowledged us as they were too busy doing side work such as polishing glasses and stocking the bar. By that time, I had already grabbed our menus from where the cash register was located. She waited until I tried to put in a food order to tell me that the kitchen was closed... which would have saved us both 15 minutes. The people next to us ordered a pizza but it was very burnt when it came out so I was glad the kitchen was closed. There are quite a few selection of beers with a very good range of types from Voodoo and local breweries. If you aren't sure what to order, I suggest trying a few with a flight as there are really a lot of beers to choose from. We were barely done with our flights when she brought back the check and it wasn't itemized so it was hard to tell how much they were... so I'm not sure if it's per pour or per flight. Overall, the beer is pretty good... but the service needs a lot of work. We'll definitely give this place another try but probably further in the future so they have time to practice a little. read more

Ordered the sriracha ranch wings with fries and my friend ordered the tots. They had a great sweet chili type flavor but they didn't have the sriracha spice I figured they would. Very delicious though, I wolfed down all 10. Fries were shoestring and just ok. Tots were great, made in house. There was a mix up with the fries and they made it right immediately and kept super attentive to our large group over two tables. They were out of the seltzer when we went but I think they've only been open a week. Cool bar atmosphere inside, we didn't go upstairs but friends said there was a huge bar and seating up there as well. Huge food menu - sandwiches, pizza, salads, apps, something for everyone for sure. They have a good thing going here. read more

I am pretty forgiving of less than perfect service but this was next level bad. We were ignored by our waitress who would walk by us and serve her other larger tables. We almost left upon entering the door because the place smells faintly of sewage. When we sat down, a server eventually took our drink order and the waiting began. The place wasn't that busy but 15 minutes elapsed with no drinks. Finally another server saw our concern and checked on the bar for us. It went downhill from there and rather than order food, we went down the street to the Electric Dough Co which was excellent and had amazing service. I have never not left a tip for a server till tonight. One more thing, my PBJ sour was good but was totally flat with no carbonation. This places needs some real help! Very nice selection of beers. I'm not a big Sour beer fan, but the one they have is very good and not overpowering. The food we had was pretty good. The brisket dip with chips was very tasty and really good. Also had the brisket grilled cheese. It wasn't horrible but could've been better. The brisket was somewhat dry and could be much moister. As for the cheese there wasn't much at all. It definitely needs more cheese. A grilled cheese, even with brisket, should have melted cheese overflowing. The brewery itself is a very nice size with two floors and two bars, one on each floor. The bartenders were very good and knowledgeable in regard to the beers. Definitely give it a try read more

Went for an event (Maker's Market) and had a great time. The vendors were all different and interesting. Didn't eat, but loved the atmosphere. Service was excellent, Jaime W is the bomb! Tried Thunder Lizard and actually liked it - kind of a grapefruit flavor. Will be back to try the food another time. Hope they keep adding events as the upstairs is made for them. read more
