I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Aliphas at his Newton-Wellesley hospital office a few times…read morerelated to chronic nasal congestion and difficulty breathing and was consistently impressed by his competence and professionalism. At my first visit, Dr. Aliphas referenced an older cat scan I had back in 2013(!) showing my septum was slightly deviated, but he pointed out that if I had been fine for so many years, there could be another underlying cause to the congestion. He quickly formulated a course of action to help determine the cause of my congestion using a systematic approach in an attempt to rule out certain potential causes first. He ordered an allergy test which came back negative, prescribed a special ointment in case I had a chronic infection, and suggested using nasal rinses to flush out the congestion. I appreciated his tendency to suggest less-invasive tasks first, and save the most invasive (surgery) for last. After ruling out allergies or an infection, we were able to conclude that the deviated septum was likely the main cause of my chronic nasal congestion. Dr. Aliphas explained to me the risks and potential benefits of receiving a septoplasty with turbinate reduction, but noted that if the nasal rinses were offering me enough relief, the surgery may not be totally necessary. Dr. Aliphas also was careful not to guarantee any surgical outcome, given the nature of this type of procedure, which I really appreciated. After thinking it over (ironically I had plenty of time due to COVID-19), I opted for the surgery and had it performed a week ago. Earlier today, he removed my nasal splints (which was painless and took maybe 5 minutes) and I can breathe clearly for the first time in recent memory. I'm 29. I remain impressed by Dr. Aliphas' measured, objective approach to determining the actual cause of my symptoms. He is clearly great at what he does and I can tell he enjoys helping his patients. He never rushed me out of his office if I asked too many questions and always made sure I was comfortable to proceed with whatever option I chose. Most importantly, he made it clear that I was in the driver's seat, and that he was along for the ride no matter which path I chose. Bravo Dr. Aliphas. THANK YOU for your excellent care and for allowing me to breathe normally again. PS, for what it's worth, their desk staff and office manager Leah were excellent at helping me with the FMLA paperwork my employer needed for me to get sick time to have this procedure.

I had not been in for a few years (living out-of-state during Covid made it impossible), but had an emergency with my ear earlier this week created by a mistake at my new PCP's office (note to self: continue search for new PCP). I called Dr. Vernick's office the next day and spoke with Anna - we had a nice chat, she told me she joined the office a couple of months ago and helped me get in ASAP. She recommended I see Mary, the office's RN, and was able to make an appt for me first-thing the following morning. Mary was amazing, looked at both ears to see what happened and then explained in nice, easy-to-understand terms what happened and what to do. My pharmacy let me know 6 hours later (!!!) that one of the two prescriptions she ordered for me was unavailable, so I called the office to go with option #2. I left a message for Mary, she called me back a few minutes later and sent in the next request. I have a follow-up with Mary in two weeks, and am starting to feel a little better after just starting 2 antibiotics. A BIG thank you to Anna and Mary!!

I lost my hearing (completely) in one ear as the result of surgery and needed to see a Dr ASAP…read more Boston ENT is part of Beth Israel, so that fact made my life a lot easier for care coordination with other doctors, AND I noticed on their website something called "ZocDoc". I was looking after business hours and was going to call the next morning (and when you can't hear in one ear, it makes talking on the phone REALLY difficult), but clicked on ZocDoc and realized I could book an appointment online, enter all my insurance info and get most of my paperwork done as well. How easy is that?? I was able to make an appointment with Dr. Kessler right away, and he is fantastic. Very nice, explained everything in English (you know, no "only a medical professional can understand what he/she means"), and delivered the not-good-news about my hearing in the nicest way possible (fortunately, I already knew I couldn't hear, he simply told me it was much worse). I needed to see a much more specialized colleague of his as well since there might be more surgery in my future, and his office made a quick call (at 4:50PM) to schedule that for me. Convenient office, lots of parking, and I would recommend them to anyone.

The tubes seemed to help for a short while, however, my issues were far more advanced than this practice could work with and they referred me to a Dr. Daniel Lee at MA Eye and Ear and as it turns out, Dr. Lee is a world-class surgeon. My ear issues are extremely complicated, but over several major surgeries, Dr. Lee was able to reconstruct my ear drum and place a prosthetic hearing bone. This year (2024) my 7 year old son began having ear issues. After several infections in a short time-frame, of course my decision to see Dr. Innis was my first course of action. Dr. Innis, for whatever reason, thought it would be best for my son to see Dr. Stone in the same practice. My son has now had 2 sets of tubes placed.. as well as his Adenoid removed and Dr. Stone is ABSOLUTELY 100% AMAZING with children. She made my wife and I feel very comfortable with the surgeries. If you have children that require care, Dr. Stone is the best! 10-star review from my family.

5+ stars for Dr. Gopal's knowledge and experience in diagnosing a complicated deep sinus…read moreinfection. As well as gentleness when exploring the depths of sinuses within your head. Not a pleasant thing to have done, but Dr. Gopal took extra care in easing this uncomfortable procedure. 5+ stars for recognizing the severity of this nasty infection and putting treatment on the fast track to surgery. Making sure that the surgery was indeed on the fast track, Dr. Gopal personally scheduled the surgery, rearranging patients and closely monitoring the sorry looking nasal passages for further signs of deterioration. (Other distinguished ENT physicians, with the exception of Dr. Vernik, who is Dr Gopal's partner,did not recognize the intensity of this infection and thus did not get any little yelp red stars). 5+ stars for excellent bedside manners, and for the ability to convey trust that patients need to see before counting backwards from 100 to 99. Knowing that your doctor has done this same surgery, hundreds of times, and has taught many other physicians, is reassuring. And when the surgery in only a thin bone away from your brain, you need to have trust. 5+ stars for a smooth surgery and as smooth as can be expected recovery, while zapping the daylights out of those nasty bacteria who set up home in little cranial cubby holes. Sinus surgery recovery can be rough, with packing, nasal breathing tubes, and trapped gunk. Dr. Gopal avoids nasal packing when possible. Most doctors we met still do packing, and thus, sadly, receive no little red stars. 5+ stars for an excellent office staff. This is a private practice and therefore, patients get the surprise of longer visits, less bureaucratic rules (where patients can easily get frustrated) and more personal treatment. The office personnel are helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable, thus earning themselves a 5+ star rating. 5+ stars for Dr. Gopal's and Dr. Vernick's ability to balance private practice and faculty responsibilities at Harvard Medical School, and giving patients a better option than busy clinics, no matter how prestigious. According to Dr. Gopal and Vernik's website, delivering faster and superior care was one reason that they formed a private practice. Let me see....5 stars ....multiplied by 6 equals....30 STARS! Finding solutions to provide better patient care deserves recognition, as well as delivering outstanding care Finding a way to give greater than 5 stars on yelp, easy.

The doctor asked about my profession, but before I could answer, he interrupted and guessed that I was an administrative assistant. While I've held that role before and respect it deeply, the assumption -- and the way it was delivered -- came across as dismissive and unprofessional. He also explained post-care instructions in a tone that felt overly condescending, including how to avoid getting water in my ear as if I'd never taken a shower before. I came for medical care, not to be talked down to. Additionally, the office staff didn't inform me that the doctor was running 30 minutes behind. A simple heads-up would have gone a long way toward showing respect for patients' time. I recognize that other reviews speak highly of this physician, so perhaps I caught him on an off day. Still, the interaction felt unnecessarily patronizing and left a poor impression. I will not be back. It's also worth mentioning that the office requires a credit card to be kept on file "just in case of charges." In all my years of visiting various doctors, I've never encountered that policy before, and it felt out of step with standard practice.

She comforted me, spent time answering my questions and helped me through the whole process. Each team member came to see me and made me feel that I was in great hands. Mother Melody was part of my surgical team and she was absolutely delightful. A bundle of joy and smiled the whole time. Amanda was my post-op nurse and she was so helpful and caring up until I left. I just had massive swelling on my neck - an obvious active and progressing infection...and the infection made my body feel like I had a bad flu, and also had pain across whole gumline on lower teeth. Milton Hospital is my go-to for ER. Drove myself in, parking right by door. Brought right in, only person in waiting room, triaged right away, tested for covid, put in a bed, given meds right away to quell the pain and made very comfortable. I was afraid and worried, but my nurse was so kind sweet and attentive that I was able to relax, put my headphones on and watched tv on my phone while CT scan with contrast was arranged. I was told I was going to be admitted, but eventually found out that prior jaw surgery complete with bone graft made it necessary to transfer me via ambulance to Beth Israel Boston where Maxillofacial Surgeons from B.U. would treat me. Logistically I was slightly irked that I hadnt been told I was going into boston as I had only prepared to be away from home for 2 days, 3 max, but no stars off for that because it was the right thing to do, just could have been told sooner is all. Tx to ambulance team was exemplary. I had to leave my car 4+ days (through 2 snowstorms) and there was no problem with that. Besides the obvious progressing infection, my main stress was to get pain control, and secondary stress was going into an ER in "covid" pandemic... Milton Hospital ER gets an A++ on all of that. My treatment was of the highest standards, and the covid precautions made the visit a 0 stress from that perspective from the moment i entered the emergency room. What a gem to have this level of care in my community!!
