We've been coming to Bosscat in Orange regularly since it opened, typically about once every month. It's a really nice atmosphere with a great service team and excellent food. A special shout-out goes to our favorite server, Charisse ! I was hooked from the first visit, when I tried one of the menu staples, Brick Chicken with Cajun Dirty Rice. It's by far my favorite entree - the dirty rice is really the star for me! I probably order it about half the time. Sadly, my fave was eliminated in an update to the menu a couple of months ago . This place was a better listener than I was a communicater, waiter set drinks down as requested, but I misspoke when I said we will have two more when she's done... just not two more of these. You HAVE to eat here!!! Amazing food, killer vibe, and exceptional service. The food is upscale southern cuisine. They offer classic southern dishes like shrimp and grits, fried chicken over dirty rice, decadent mac and cheese, white fish over mushroom risotto, burgers, short ribs, and more, but it's elevated and modern. All four of us loved our dishes. It's a whiskey bar so their signature drinks are whiskey based, and they have a full bar too. The decor is modern rustic, with whiskey bottles inside gold bird cages, and they have large booth seating with moody lighting. If you're familiar with the area, you know this location used to be the iconic Rod's Liquor Store in the Orange Circle. Bosscat pays homage to Rod's throughout the restaurant with subtle touches. They have a "Rod's" neon sign above the bar, and they have original "Ice" and "Beer" signs from Rod's on select walls. It makes it feel like a part of their story, which is really nice. The service was amazing. Our server asked the bartender for the least acidic wine for me, she asked the chef if the chicken sausage was sweet for my husband, and she brought extra plates for the kids because she overheard them talking about sharing. We finished our meal with beignets and they were beyond delicious. 5 came in an order, nice and warm, and were served with a side of lemon curd with melted marshmallow. Obsessed. We will be back again and again. Sad to see Rod's go. But so excited Bosscat took its place. read more

My husband and I had a fantastic brunch here today. I had the short rib chilaquiles, he had the chicken and waffle sandwich, and we shared the beignets with lemon curd and marshmallow cream at the end. Everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. Our server was friendly and attentive. They also offer a brunch cocktail menu for those interested. We ate inside because it was cooler than the covered front patio. Unfortunately we had a pretty bad experience here. My boyfriend ordered the sweet and spicy shrimp and I ordered the kale goddess salad with chicken. His shrimp was breaded but it was soggy and the breading came off the shrimp. My salad was terrible. Kale is really bitter and kind of dry already so without a proper dressing it just tasted like dry kale. It's a little confusing that the add ons were roasted pepper, corn, and black beans and the dressing was balsamic with Parmesan. It was lacking in corn, peppers, black beans and hardly had any dressing or Parmesan. For being around $22, I just expected it to taste like they put effort into making it. On top of this, our server disappeared most of the time (he was nice when he was present) but we waited almost an hour and a half for our food which was simply a salad, a bad salad at that, and soggy shrimp. Pretty bummed at how expensive it was and how poor quality the food and service was. There's a lot of good eateries in this area and this one is not great. The highlight of the evening was definitely the Whiskey Room--a beautiful, intimate space centered around a stunning 100-year-old wood table that really elevated the experience. And Cherise truly made the night. She was a fabulous host--warm, attentive, and created an effortless flow for our group. A lot of people recommended this spot to me and I can't believe it took me so long to try it! It's a really cool place and in the evenings, it can get really dark and moody inside. I was pleasantly surprised to see a great menu of mocktails and I ordered the I'm the Driver, which I really enjoyed. For dinner, I got the Burrata and bacon jam, a great combo of flavors. I usually like this place, but the upselling this time was something else. Came in with my dad and uncle. We ordered some appetizers and a couple $6 Modelos -- pretty low-key. The server recommends a whiskey to my uncle, doesn't mention the price. We get the check and... surprise, it's an $85 pour. One drink. Half the bill. Now look, I've worked in service. I know the upsell game. But if you're pouring someone a top-shelf whiskey they clearly don't understand -- and they're sitting there sipping cheap beers and splitting appetizers -- maybe just say, "Hey, this one's a bit pricey. I met up with a friend last night for dinner, didnt realize the parking situation had changed a little bit since the city enacted a new parking system in the downtown area. If you look on the City website, there is still free parking in certain lots around the downtown area but the street parking around the circle is now managed by parkmobile which is an app based system where you pay online. Since it was a Friday night, the scene in downtown was pretty lively, lots of people walking around and visiting the local restaurants and bars. For dinner i ordered the 12-hr shortrib and my friend ordered the salmon. The staff was very accommodating when she mentioned her shellfish allergy and took the necessary precautions so that there wasnt any cross contamination. They did provide the typical warning that although they did take the necessary precautions that there was always the chance of some exposure as food is prepared in a central kitchen they did switch out the tongs, pans and prepared her meal separately from the common work stations which you dont necesssarily get a such a thorough explanation which is reassuring. Overall we were both happy with our meals, the short rib was very tender and the portion size of the entree was filling. read more

Don't pay over $30 for American food in Southern California, get In-N-Out and some sushi instead. If you must come here, get some happy hour appetizers and a salad for balance. As for the food, I ordered the Short Rib Chilaquiles, which was delicious! The short rib could have been better but that's just me nit picking, it was a great dish none the less. They have mimosa options and brunch cocktails as well, although no orange juice or other juices for that matter from what I asked and saw since it's a variety restaurant for different parts of the day. Went here for dinner. A: cool artsy looking place that has an extensive whiskey and bourbon list if that fancys you. Place is big with indoor and outdoor seating to choose from. Honestly I like the way the place looks inside! F: I got the shave pork chop burger that had pork belly in it too. Came with fries that were awesome and like a type of ketchup that was good. The burger itself was ok, some bites were a bit dry or tough but then some were tender and flavorful. I don't think I would get it again. S: service was great. We held our company holiday party here (private events) and we had a stellar time! We did a full venue buyout and it worked perfectly with enough indoor and outdoor space for our 100 employees. The staff was absolutely exceptional. They consistently checked in to see if I needed anything or how they could be of help. The food was delicious. The ambiance was perfect. The event planner, Casey, was easy to work with and answered all my questions. I would love to host another event here and I highly recommend them! Returned to the Orange circle to check out bosscat Kitchen & Libations after seeing it walking from the cafe - I am so glad I did. The food was amazing. To start they had an amazing selection of starters I went with a delicious blue wedge salad crisp lettuce, a tasty not overpowering blue cheese dressing and loaded with toppings! For the main course we did Mac & Cheese and the chicken sandwich and everything about it was just phenomenal. My only gripe were the fries or potatoes wedges but this is a personal preference. The ambience of the restaurant is bustling in loud but not loud enough that you can't have a good conversation over dinner great for a casual date or a weekend dinner. The service was excellent waiters and staff constantly checking in on us. During my visit, the kitchen had ran out of a menu item, and the Manager even came by to personally apologize and find a solution in a quick and easy manner. A1 hospitality. Wasn't impressed with the food options. In addition, we were one of three tables at the restaurant and service took an extremely long time.

We arrived for a special occasion and our group was seated at one of the large high tables just by the check-in booth, but technically it was in covered outside patio (they have heat lamps). They have a bar and the area is pretty open with TVs and high ceilings, so there's sound. Since the restaurant is located by the Orange circle, it was pretty lively on a weekend. Good luck if you can find parking nearby, I just ended up parking at the free lot off of Lemon- plenty of spaces, and just a few minutes walking distance to the restaurant. Now let's talk about the food. First, if you like bread, get the country bread. It's like a savory beignet, crispy on the outside, soft and puffy on the inside, served with ranch butter. It was so good, I died and then asked for more. For my entree I had the whitefish, which I absolutely loved. The white fish was both crispy and tender and served with risotto. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal and it was nice night all around! We brought cake to celebrate the event so they do allow outside cakes but check to see if there's a cake cutting fee. Came here for brunch with my daughters. Made a reservation and was seated immediately in the patio. Trendy spot and nice decor inside but the weather was too nice to sit inside. Our server was nice but mixed up our order on the eggs. That was no problem we still ate our food which was delicious! The short rib Chilaquiles are to die for! Such a great flavor! My chicken fried steak was excellent, the gravy was very flavorful. My daughter said her steak was delicious . A little pricey, considering that the portions are not very generous. I am a huge animal lover with 4 of my own dogs, but I don't take them out to eat brunch with me. The people next to us sat down with their dog, and Hair started flying into our food. I've been wanting to try Bosscat for a while. My friend made a reservation and we got promptly seated. We sat outside under large heaters which was nice. I will note the music was loud and made hearing conversation a bit difficult. This is a fun lively spot. Kudos to Bosscat for having pictures of the food and drinks on their website. To drink I ordered the Wouldn't You which is a vodka based cucumber drink. This was so delicious and light. Sometimes cucumber can taste artificial in cocktails, but this was so fresh. I'd highly recommend this drink. To eat I ordered the shaved pork sandwich. This was different than how I anticipated it looking. The burger for an American style restaurant is slightly on the smaller side. The pork was okay it did lack some flavor. However, the potato wedges were amazing. read more

It was late so I just ordered the mushroom fries and poblano soup. Both are very good. I definitely recommend to try both. The aesthetics were sultry and romantic with the lighting.
