Bosphorus is a charming little Turkish restaurant in Cary North Carolina. The cozy place features indoor and outdoor dining. Moustapha, sorry if I've spelled your name incorrectly, was our waiter. Fantastic job serving us fantastic food. This restaurant is a gem of a place. If I lived in Cary I would be a regular for sure. Friendly, inexpensive and delicious. We ordered the Bosphorus Meze Platter which was a melange of Hummus, Baba Gounush, Ezme, Tabouli, Eggplant salad, Cucumber Dip, Stuffed grape leaves. Talk about fresh, bright mediterranean flavors with the house flat bread. Absolutely authentic fare! We also had an order of Falafel which are really meatless meatball made from chickpeas, parsley, cilantro, onions, spices and fried. These light, crunchy and flavorful nuggets are served with Hummus and lettuce. Sorry the food never had a chance to have its photo taken. There is no alcohol on the menu but they have soft drinks and Turkish tea which was a perfect beverage. I wonder if this is a bring your own booze (BYOB) place, if a glass of wine is your think you may want to call ahead and ask. In short this place is a must visit and it's economically priced for top end food. The atmosphere is friendly, you will not be rushed and you will leave full. We ordered the cigar bourke, hummus, beyti, yogurt kebab with chicken and baklava. It was all great, my personal favorite was the beyti. Falafel is great as an appetizer, so I can imagine it is also great as an entree. Pepperoni Pide was also shared as an appetizer...we will get two to share next time! So good! I really wanted to think my experience was a one off, but after reading some of the reviews from others regarding their experience with service, I take it as a pattern. My review is just of that, the service as I was unable to order food. Their sign stated they closed at 9pm. It was 8:30pm - I walk in to be taken back by NO ONE having a mask on - not one person in the building but me. There are no customers, just the restaurant staff. As I am walking to the counter, the gentlemen yells - Can I help you? The tone was of annoyance and to be honest it made me uncomfortable. I simply asked, "Are You Closed?" - knowing they weren't. He replies "Ohhhh YEAH, We Are - Sorry" and went back to doing whatever it was he was doing at the counter. I walked out and sat in my car just to see if they would turn off the "OPEN" sign and lock the door - since they were CLOSED. Nope, he walked over to the table and sat down playing on his phone. I do like to support different restaurants and especially during these times locals. However, I will never return after this and definitely will not recommend. read more

I visited this restaurant yesterday with my husband after two years and it was packed so we were expecting the food to be great as it used to be in previous years but to our disappointment the food was very bland also seemed like it was heated in a microwave oven we ordered the mixed grill the red meats were really dry the cucumber salad had way too much vinagre it was way sour. The service though was great I have to be honest about that all the servers were very nice very professional and happy to do their job. But food quality wasn't there for us. read more

Discovered this restaurant when a year ago left from the Amtrak station. This time we stayed in a city north of Cary, and we drove 40 minutes just to have again the Bosphorus Meze Platter who got 5 stars from us. We are from out of state, but wish we had this restaurant in our city. All the mezes in the platter, Baba Gounush, hummus, eggplant Salad, Ezme, tabouleh are just perfect and flavorful, and so was the soft, fresh pita bread. For the record, we haven't tried anything else but the platter, but will review other items next time. Good ambiance. Service is good and platter price is also great! read more

This is one of my favorite places to go to in Raleigh. It's getting more and more popular so you definitely have to reserve, especially for dinner time. Service can be slow but the freshness and authenticity of this Turkish food is worth the wait. I've been to Turkey and the food here is definitely authentic and amazing. My favorite dish is the mixed grill as it comes with rice, greens and various kinds of meats. My go to kebob is Adana kebob, it's so juicy and flavorful. We always like to get the mixed appetizer and cigar borek(thin cheese egg rolls). Their bread is fresh and they give you a yummy oil and red pepper dip with it. My husband ordered the yogurt kebob and it was sooo good, it's basically lamb kebob buried under yogurt and Taintor sauce. They have enough parking spots which is a great add on. read more

I am visiting my family here in Cary, and we ordered this as our last meal for Iftar during Ramadan. Even as takeout, this was a delicious meal that we could not get enough of. I have been going to this place way back when they had a smaller place. This is a family owned authentic Mediterranean restaurant. The taste is always the same. I loved everything in their menu. The food is always fresh, especially their pita bread, which i love so much. My favorite is their kebobs. Never go wrong with this. Once in a while, the kebob was dry, and I sent it back. My hard earned money only deserves the best food. Very nice staff. They are always busy specially lunch take outs and dinner time. On weekends, it can be a bit of a wait. Mediterranean restaurants seem to be popping up everywhere; however, their menus normally consist of basic Greek food. Yes, this place serves up Greek too, but it also includes authentic Turkish dishes. We ordered the Meze Platter $10, the Bosphorus Salad $7, Sigara Bourek $6 and Feta Cheese Pide $10, the complimentary Turkish tea and wrapped things up with the Krem Karamel for dessert (how could we not for just $3?) Everything was excellent, including the service. I won't even try to describe them. I'll just let my pics do the talking. Overall, the dining room is roomy and comfortable albeit simply decorated. We arrived at approximately 5pm and it took 30 minutes before our order was taken. The drink order was finally placed. We asked for Turkish tea upon our arrival and it was never received. We witnessed 3 other parties that arrived 40 minutes after us be served their tea. At the end of our visit, I explained the matter to a waiter and he was non-apologetic and did not even acknowledge the wrong doing on their part. I do not recommend this restaurant. read more

We saw all of the great reviews and thought we had to give this little haunt a try. I can sum this visit up into one word, underwhelming. We ordered a cold app, hot app, main course and 2 desserts, bringing our total to $47. We regularly visit various Mediterranean style restaurants and this one would be my least favorite to date, the one I'd be least likely to visit again. I generally order some of the same type dishes: hummus, tabouli, baklava, lamb. They were fine, but I have enjoyed them equally or better somewhere else. I have friends from this region of the country, so I have experienced homemade cuisine and was excited to try the restaurant. The starting bread was good along with the dipping sauce. Our meals arrived minutes after ordering, much too fast to be made to order. My chicken was rubbery as if it had been microwaved to reheat and the salad was served on the same plate as the hot food. My husband's meal was meatballs over croutons with tomato sauce, almost like an Italian red sauce. He is easy to please, however when we walked out the door his first words were " I would not go back" and I wholeheartedly agree with that statement. read more

We enjoyed the food! But for the price, we were expecting larger quantity of meat for each dish. In similar Turkish joints in LA, we could easily receive two skewers worth. Our service was poor. They frequently forgot about us, and forgot about our requests. At one point we had asked to see the dessert menu, only to wait ten minutes for someone to return. We lost interest and a different server came and took our credit card. We saw four different servers the entire meal, which I'm sure was related to the inattentiveness. Finally as we walked out we saw other tables had a stack of delicious looking bread in baskets and we realized that they never gave us any complimentary bread. This place is wonderful!!!! We arrived during the crowded lunch rush. We inadvertently sat at a table that had been previously reserved. Instead of kicking us out, the owner made us feel welcome, invited us to stay seated and review the menu while we waited. He found another table for the reservation so we didn't even have to move. He brought us bread with herbed oil to help pass the time while waited for our food. When my mother asked for recommendations, he asked detailed questions to offer appropriate suggestions. It did take awhile for the food to arrive, and it was worth the wait! We shared an excellent appetizer of Eggplant Parmigiana. Mom had kofta kabobs, and I enjoyed lamb chunk kebabs. The food was hot and tasty. The only negative thing was a few pieces of brown edged lettuce. Otherwise, everything was fresh and tasty. If you haven't tried Turkish food, this is the spot to tempt your tastebuds! The owner will work with you so you can truly enjoy this fine food!
