    Enchiladas with Marinated Chicken
    Linnette D.

I'm sorry it took me so long to discover what is probably one of the best restaurants in the area. This place is unique with the whole idea of merging Tex-Mex style food with Cajun food. You walk in and the aromas make you really hungry. It's a lively atmosphere but not too loud and we came on a weekend. I had chicken enchiladas which were perfectly seasoned, tender and savory, delicious rice that seemed to be a Cajun medley including onions and peppers, and hearty black beans. This food is super filling so make sure you come hungry! My husband had the blackened chicken Caesar salad and he loved it. There were so many other things on the menu that we wanted to try. We're definitely coming back! Service was fast and friendly. Just keep in mind that the signage is hard to see when you're driving but you'll know you're there when you see a huge sign that simply says: "EAT" lol

Met a group of friends here and it was crowded, as many people like this restaurant. The food here was good, and service was friendly and prompt. There's plenty of parking and it's in a nice location.

Not very authentic. Very slow device in bar area. Uber eats people picking up food got priority. Salad gave Me stomach ache. Margaritas were not bad. Food rather poor

It's been about 2-years since my last visit and MAN is Border Cafe the best restaurant I've ever eaten at. GREAT food! GREAT drinks and the house made Sangria is soooo good! The Chipotle Salmon was ... just to die for. I almost ordered one to go. And my server, Jewels ... so friendly, so helpful while not being intrusive. Very knowledgeable of the menu and drinks. If you're in the Delaware Park RacecourseCasino area, stop at Border Cafe!

First time having these salmon tacos and they were really good. I usually get the same thing for the nearly 2 decades I been going here which are the gulf coast seafood enchiladas but decided to try something different. The only reason I do not give 5 stars anymore is because the hospitality is not as good as it once was. Our server did his job but was not very hospitable neither was the hostess. A pretty open restaurant and she sits up right next to a table which doesn't make sense to me.

The to-go order of gumbo I paid $10 for.

I have been patronizing Border Cafe, which I would affectionately call 'EAT' because of their large neon sign emblazoned with the word, for many years. I started becoming concerned with the quality of their food offerings during the pandemic, when I would exclusively order food from them online. I gave them a pass because it was the pandemic after all and lots of eateries were suffering because of supply chain issues and a drop off in patronage. However, as things slowly started opening back up, post-pandemic, I gave them a chance to redeem themselves, eating at this location's outdoor tent. Sadly the quality only marginally improved and I could see the portion sizes being impacted. Fast forward to Monday, March 31, 2025. I had a taste for their gumbo and hadn't been there in quite some time. So I ordered a cup with my meal. It was delicious! So, I also order a dinner portion of the gumbo to go. The order was a little over $10. Tonight, Wednesday, April 2, 2025, I was all set to throw down on my gumbo. When I opened up the bag I was floored. They put the gumbo in a liquid pint container, but it barely filled half the container. Needless to say I was not only disappointed, but I was angry! This is absolutely ridiculous! I paid $10 for this?! Where is the heck is the value?! I know shrinkflation is a real thing, but this is out of control. This situation made me so annoyed that I had to log into Yelp and post this review. I am so tired of businesses short changing loyal customers just to save a buck. As such, I will not be returning to EAT any time soon. DO BETTER! It's important to note that the service was great! Our waitress, McKenzie, was a super star! #VOTINGWITHMYFEET #DOBETTER #GIVEPEOPLEVALUEFORTHEIR$

Jambalaya Skillet meant for "2-3 people" to share as a side item.
    George W.

I cannot tell a lie, this place used to be 5-stars in my opinion, but something has changed. This week we visited Border Cafe. We were so excited to return, as it's been a favorite of ours for years. However, based off this latest experience, I may rethink my next visit. To start, our waiter was obviously inexperienced in the service industry. He was unfamiliar with basic drink orders, inattentive, and became defensive at a certain point after we asked for basic things (water, sharing plates, limes for our modelos) etc. Sorry, but these are not big things to ask for. I ordered the blackened fish tacos (which come with a side of rice and beans), as well as the Jambalaya Skillet, which was advertised to feed "2-3 people". Those were Border Cafes words, not my own. Intrigued, I ordered it. What I got was Jambalaya subbed for the rice and beans. When I asked if the additional side was coming, our waiter became defensive. Instead of trying to fix the situation, he made it my fault, instead of owning up to the fact that perhaps he misunderstood. I need to mention though, his excuse was invalid because the only sides allowed to be subbed are written in red, above other extraneous side offerings. The Jambalaya was written in black, therefor not included, therefor it should have been known to be an additional side. Whatever. Before I left, I asked for a Jambalaya Skillet to go. I have not touched it, as I wanted to document the portion that Border Cafe advertises as being enough for "2-3 people". You tell me if this is enough Jambalaya for 2-3 people.... (Hint - it's not). Anyways, Border Cafe, please please please work on returning to your previous, impeccable state.

Bean and corn empanadas with blackened broccoli
    Beverly R.

Went for lunch, much better than dinner for me. Had the fish tacos, black beans and rice. The fish was very small, the mango salsa was tasty. My daughter had the black bean and corn empanadas and the blackened broccoli. The broccoli was delicious! I'll get that next time. Their non alcoholic drink cups are huge! Great idea, you won't need refills. Our server was polite and helpful. The hostesses greeted us when we arrived, but didn't thank us for coming. I'm not petty, I just look for those things.

the food was so fun&& so good, we had no idea it was tex-mex and cajun fusion, such a great surprise! i loved the fish and chips with the cajun seasoning and remoulade, my boyfriend had the cajun tacos, not very blackened but still had a nice taste to them. our server was amazing&& all of the crew were so kind and helpful, they really made it a great environment. almost every table was full while we were in and we never had to wait for service. 10/10 ‍

Waiter brought me 2/3 of a cup of warm coffee and asked if I wanted milk or cream and sugar instead of bringing them over. I couldn't find a single thing on the menu that seemed even remotely close to palatable, so I ordered an English muffin, thinking I'd be safe. Wrong. It was doughy and soaked with butter. Joel is one of THE BEST bartenders, anywhere, ever. I've been many places on extended stays and even after 4-5 visits, the same bartender has no clue who you are. Not Joel. Friendly, personable, remembered my name AND drink. Great bartender. He's 5 stars. Or more. Now: 5 meals in two weeks, three in the bar and two in the room. And full disclosure: former chef. And kind of a food snob/foodie. First one in the room: chicken Caesar and soup of the day (in this case, tomato Basil). Solid enough Caesar. Soup: something lumpy in it (sometimes you add Parmesan for a richness. It felt like it was that which was added and not puréed so it was lumpy and chewy. Decent flavor though). My big problem? You call me at my room, tell me my order is ready, I get back to the room and no plastic ware? Are they thinking I'm eating caesar and soup with my hands? Second meal, in the bar: crab cake sandwich and fries. Again, former chef (spoiler alert for non-chefs: "seasoning" means salt and pepper. Spice is everything else.) so the bland pepper/spice fries desperately need some salt even the menu says "seasoned fries". Ditto the crab cake. Not much flavor. Not horrible, just bland. Third meal, in the bar: burger (cow tipper) and fries. Same bland fries but my Pittsburgh rare burger? Tasty. And perfectly cooked. And juicy and damn! Well balanced and a toasty bun and just terrific all around. Fourth meal, in the bar: chicken Marsala. Terrific. Authentic. Sweet and saucy and perfect like a great Marsala. The mashed and broccolini were solid as well. Fifth meal, in my room: the crispy brussel sprouts and truffle fries. Fries are solid, probably topped with the same Parmesan I found in lumps in my soup the week before, and good dousing of truffle salt. Well thought out. The sprouts are hot, and well seasoned and delicious. But (didn't I learn to look in my bag???) I get back to my room (where they KNOW I am because they called me) and NO PLASTICWARE. I get (maybe) eating the fries with my fingers, but the sprouts? Overall: food/takeout service is a 2.5-3.5. Bartender Joel is a 5.0. So let's call it a 4.0 overall. And improve the takeout-and definitely keep Joel.
