Lengthy, yes... I charged an American Express credit card for the amount listed above @ $146.76. A representative from their company called me the very next day and told me that my order hadn't gone through because of her clerical error in typing my American Express credit card number. She called and confirmed with me that she ran it "successfully" after I resubmitted the credit card number to her over the phone. She had ensured me that the order was completed and that they would be shipping the items out. I had never received a confirmation charge e-mail like the one above, so I took in confidence her word that the order was placed.
I ensured my son, who the boot order was for, that his order was made and that his boots were being shipped. After two weeks of waiting, and with my son continually asking about his boots for special events he had, he became anxious as his event dates neared. He called again on Saturday, February 24th, 2018 to speak to a customer service rep from Boot Barn to check on the status of the shipping. My son gave Boot Barn the last order number we received... and he gave ONCE AGAIN the same American Express credit card number that I ALREADY gave. They apologized and said that they would give us free 2-day shipping for the purchase because of the delay, and because he had expressed that he missed one event due to their delay and the second event was coming up and he was hoping to have the order by then. The customer service rep stated to him that the order was complete and once again, I did not receive a confirmation e-mail and he also took in confidence their word at the order being placed.
It is now Wednesday the 28th of February and the order did not come in on the 2nd day. I called today to Boot Barn and asked them what was going on and I told them all of the information I provided here, and they said they were "Waiting on an approval from American Express" and still had not heard if American Express had approved the amount. By this point I about lost it because I know that at any time I could walk into any store with my American Express and be approved, $145.00 does not even dent the amount of my credit line. I feel terrible that my son has earned this money he was going to put in my hand after I charged it to the card. He was expecting a reward and to go to have fun at his events.
I then told Boot Barn that I was going to call American Express and ask if they had ever attempted to run my American Express card for the order, she did not seem to care about my issue. American Express just confirmed to me that Boot Barn has NEVER attempted to run this card (after giving it 3 times). This upset me so much because here I am expecting at least basic customer service from their company at Boot Barn, but this has discouraged me to even use their business. I don't understand how many encounters I'd have to have with their customer service reps to get one simple task done. The fact that the customer service reps didn't even run my card after 3 attempts is very frustrating. I've never had this issue happen, and now my son isn't even able to enjoy his boots after a promise of 2 day delivery. On the 3rd day, i was to find out the card hasn't even charged. If I hadn't been calling, no one would have sent me any information and MOST LIKELY would have been left unserviced by their company. I fully plan to express about my experience with this company to as many people as I can so that they understand that this company is not accountable, even for basic ordering online and via telephone.
I want to know from this company how they plan to satisfy and resolve this matter. It has already conflicted with our personal plans, and that is only one thing. I am unsure what their company representatives have done with my credit card number and I feel like I need to be checking my American Express card account any day now expecting fraud and misuse. If it wasn't used immediately for the sole purpose of ordering shoes, what are their reps doing with the credit card numbers they are taking down?? read more
