First time going their with my 19 year old son and wife. Smells great when you walk in like old leather. We met an older man named Bill who helped my son look at steal toe work boots but nothing fit right but he did recommend some good insoles for my sons Doc Martens he never takes off. The reason for the 3 stars is because there was one young women who was wearing brown bell bottoms who would give my son and I dirty looks every time she would walk past us no smiles or hello or can I help you just dirty looks. She had no name tag on. We probably would have bought some pants and shirts but she ruined the vibe. He had answers to any and every boot question my fiancée and I threw at him about male and female boots. Bill helped me try on several different boots in several different sizes and was very glad to do so. He even kindly taught me "the old plastic bag trick" to get your foot into a boot and taught me how to use the device to take off the boot. I have never worn boots before I fell in love with this place. They have a amazing selection of boots and every thing you might need. I'm up to 10 pairs of boots, all of them can be used with jeans, shorts, dresses and shirts. As soon as you walk in your greeted by all. Their are two sales girls I adore. Their on it helping me pick out cloths, socks , they are so nice and helpful. Now in the boot area is Rich. He knows about every boot in that store. Kind of a character but so so helpful. If they don't have the boot you love they will have it shipped to the store and the same on sizes. Half the store is men's and women's clothes, hats jewelry for you or your boots. I have to say they carry amazing belts too. The best part is you can go in and make a complete outfit from head to toe. I went there before a Garth Brooks concert and loved my outfit. This location was near my house and was looking for some new country attire for Stagecoach. They have a lot of brand selections to choose from including Free People which is one of my favorite brands. They have so much over priced inventory that even the stuff that is on clearance is barely marked down. The lady who was working there followed me around the store instead of asking me if I needed help looking for something. They do offer free stretching for your boots and also can shape your cowboy hat if you are a member of their membership club. I have been to the Bakersfield Boot Barn and that store has more foot traffic and more inventory to choose from in the women's section. read more

Don't trust what these employees tell you. Ordered boots in store for pickup and was informed that they could be returned within 30 days. Turns out the employee that checked me out either doesn't know what they're talking about or doesn't care. Instead of making up for their mistake the other employee that somehow has a different return policy just passed me off to customer support without hearing the situation out whatsoever. They have tons of trendy western/boho inspired looks that unique and either aren't sold at the malls or are hard to find or crazy expensive at a department store. Got a gift card for Christmas. Found a hat I wanted and had it shipped into the store for pickup. When I got the notification it had arrived I went to the shop to pick it up. They asked me if they could see an ID, passed me my new hat and that was that. I inquired if I could have the hat shaped while I was there. The gentleman who had the hat (neglected to get his name...) said he didn't think anybody was available to help me. Then he brought out a gentleman named Bill who to my delight said he could help me. Bill listened to every word I said, verified that he heard what he did and went to work. Said it was about 15 minutes. It had to have been right around that much time when he found me shopping in the store to show me he had completed the shaping, precisely to my specifications. He gave me some care pointers, and let me know any time I needed it "tuned up" so to speak, to bring it back and he would set everything in order. Such incredible service. I could not have been more pleased with my selection especially given the fairly nuanced preferences I had regarding the shape. Bill was not only great, but I don't know how I could pick up a hat anywhere else now. Rest of the staff was perfectly helpful in the normal retail landscape, but Bill really went above and beyond. It is rare to get retail service like this. Employees rarely know anything about what they are selling or even how to approach customers. The bf & I came in here to TRY ON boots and then we'd go home and buy what we really wanted on-line. Aaron was the salesperson who helped the bf decide on his casual western-style boot. After measuring his foot length, arch length, and width, Aaron advised what leather would be best The bf & I got a lesson in Boot Leathers 101: deer tanning v. cowhide tanning, alligator belly v. the tail, ostrich v. eel. Who knew?! Aaron wasn't trying to make a fast sale. He was helping us make an informed purchase....and it worked. And no, he just wasn't being slick. The bf wanted something that was waaaaay out of his price range but was willing to go hungry for his feet to look good. He ended up buying a sexy pair of boots that fit his feet and his budget. I ended up buying a nice cowboy hat cuz everyone should have a nice cowboy hat. If you're ever in the market for what these guys have got, you will no be disappointed here. read more

I rarely will post a negative review, however I visited the Lake Forest store on Saturday 3/31/18. The work boots I was trying on happened to be made with a stiffer shiny leather compared to all the other same boots. The store employee told that these were probably made with a different batch of leather. I was disappointed that my size was not like the softer no shine boots. So, I went home and ordered online (what a mistake). Boot barn had sent me a coupon for 10% off my next order. First of all the coupon they sent me 3 days ago did not work. I tried several times with no luck. I went ahead and ordered without the discount. When ordering there is a comment section. I wrote how I had tried them on in the store and there were two types pf the leather being used to please send me boots made of the softer leather and not the stiffer shiny leather. Is that too much to ask for? The order was completed and I was supposed to get an email within 30 minutes with a confirmation. It never came. So, the next day (Sunday) I called and the girl I spoke to was able to find the order. I asked why the coupon didn't work, she said it should have worked, but it was too late because a shipping label was printed. Not happy about that. So I proceeded to ask about my comment on the order asking for the softer leather, she said only the first sentence came through and it said nothing about the softer leather. I asked to cancel the order and she said it was too late a shipping label was already printed and they would ship tomorrow. Really??? I would say never order online even though they have way more selection than the store. There website is so jacked. I tried to leave a comment to customer service before I came to Yelp and It just wouldn't go through after several tries. Not happy with Boot Barn customer service. Let's see how long it takes to get a response or for customer service to make it right. I will post an update. read more

I had the worst customer experience with Boot Barn on 12/9/21.  I have been a customer with Boot Barn for over 30 years. I even remember when the first store opened up in 1978. I buy and have bought all of my western wear exclusively  from Boot Barn ever since with a collection of multiple western boots , hats , as well as, outer wear.  Nonetheless, I was searching for another pair of boots. They were the El Dorado Men's Handmade Tan Oiled Roper Boots. The price offered was $329.99 through Boot Barn. I was able to find them priced about 20 dollars cheaper through Country Outfitters. I ventured to the Boot Barn on Mercury Street in San Diego on 12/8/21. I did purchase the boots with the price match. As soon as I arrived home the very same pair of boots were being advertised for $279.99 through Boot Barn. I visited the Boot Barn where I purchased these boots from the next day. I mentioned to one of the sales representative about the drop in price for the boots I bought just a day or so prior. She had referenced she would have to check with Roxanne, the supervisor, for authorization to honor their own price match for $279.99. I even showed proof of Boot Barn's new lower price of the particular boots in question. Roxanne, the supervisor, would not honor the lower price of their own merchandise. There was mention of  skin color and the treating of the white customers in the store with more respect than I was being treated. The supervisor made mention that some of the members in her family are black- which I though was extremely unprofessional, inappropriate and had no bearing on this very trying and nerve racking customer service experience. The supervisor, Roxanne, made no attempts to appease me as a customer or offer any alternatives to satisfy the customer.  I had a pair of 500 dollar western boots in my hands ready purchase, but I placed them back on the rack and quietly walked out of the store. This one experience with this one supervisor left me bewildered and placed me in a position of never wanting to do business with Boot Barn ever again. Although, the few dollars of saving concerning the price match is somewhat trivial; it is just the principle of it all -which is not being treated like a valued customer. read more

Great people on the premises that are helpful & friendly making you feel welcome. Very fair prices making it tough to leave here without an armful of goodies. When we went in to pick it up, the guy at the counter was rude and wouldn't even let me finish a sentence before he cut me off and said "just tel me your name". My wife had an issue with her Danner boots purchased from the Oceanside store. We called the Lake Forest location for assistance in how to fix the shoe issue. They told us to come in and they would be able to help us better. The manager had great customer service and allowed us to exchange her boots for another pair that fit much better! I had a really positive experience at Boot Barn. I had already looked online for boots that I was interested in and I went to the store to see if they had them in stock. This was my first time buying boots and I had no idea what to look for as far as sizing, fit, etc. Mark was extremely helpful and explained everything to me! Great service, maybe too great? Went in on a whim wanting to try on some boots. The sales staff were so engaging, competent, and friendly during the hour we spent there trying on various pair that we ended up walking out with two pair @ $140 and $160. The original budget was maybe some ropers for $100. They asked appropriate questions such as whether we were riding or dancing in them (yeah, that matters). We're by no means "country" and the staff understand that their customer base is in the OC, and is anything but that, so you don't feel like a "dude" when you walk in wearing your BR jeans and Quicksilver polo shirt, although they'll gladly sell you some Wranglers. Several other customers stated bluntly that they were looking for "casual fashion" western boots, and the staff went right into it without any problem. Bottom line, they have a good selection, delivered friendly knowledgeable service, and seemed more than willing to work with their customer to get them what they want. read more

We came looking for a pair of boots to purchase for a gift. The sales clerk was helpful and attentive, when we told him we would give some thought about the one pair we tried on an really liked, he encouraged us to purchase them that night, as we would receive $75.00 in dollars toward our next purchase. Well, we bought the boots at his encouragement, and then were told if we filled out an on-line survey we would also receive another $5.00 off on our next purchase. We saw an item that was On Sale through 12/1, and since it was 11/30, we said we'd complete the survey over dinner, and come back to get the item the next day. Over dinner we started reading the fine print on our coupons, it turns out there were 3 coupons each worth $25.00 off of a purchase of $100.00 or more. NOT what the Sales Person had sold us...AND we had only 10 days to use these coupons. We were not happy with that misleading sale. So with our completed survey code, we went back on 12/1, to get the item "On Sale through 12/1" The SALE sign was down, and the store claimed that sale ended yesterday. They would not budge, and said the sale ended 11/30. AGAIN, not happy with misinformation at this store. After perusing the internet, found another pair of boots we liked better, for half the price, so we went to take the unworn-still in bag-with tags on-boots back. Well...unless I had the credit card which they were purchased on they could not refund the money to the credit card. Even with the receipt in hand they will not refund the money to the credit card, and claim they must have that credit card in order to refund. My boyfriend lives across the country, and I don't have his credit card to give to them, but want the money to go back on his card...nope! Really not happy with this stores policies and information. The store has great merchandise, but BEWARE...and read all fine print, and perhaps take photos of sale signs...I don't know...but it will be a long time before I purchase anything from these people again. read more

Came here looking for a specific cowboy hat. Great big place, great selection, but the people seem distracted or indifferent. Asked if they could order it, they checked their computer, made a few calls, but kept asking for the wrong style. I had to correct the guy behind the counter with each call he made. After 20 minutes I left my phone number and told them to call when they could get one. I called another local store and found it myself the next day.
