I always have such a great experience at Uptown Cheapskate in Laguna Hills! Ava, Jen, and Amber are absolutely amazing. They're always so friendly, welcoming, and willing to help me find exactly what I'm looking for. They never make me feel rushed and always go the extra mile to help. Their kindness and excellent customer service are a big reason I keep coming back. The store is organized, the selection is great, and the staff truly make the shopping experience enjoyable. Thank you, Ava, Jen, and Amber, for always being so helpful and making every visit a positive one. You all deserve the recognition! read more

I used to come in here often but today I am appalled and won't be returning. I had a pile of dresses to try on in my hand and the OWNER followed me to my dressing room and made a comment "that's a lot of stuff" and asked how many items I had. She proceeded to not ask anyone else at all in the store who tried on clothes how many items, make any remark to them or FOLLOW them to the dressing room. I wanted to walk out but because I had a credit I proceeded to try on the clothes but I am so appalled mind you I just look like a mom who left the house in a rush so I am just so taken back by the discrimination. Do yourself a favor never come to any uptown cheapskate They hold you captive in the store because they make you wait until your buy is done. Not that we are all adults and have actual lives. We can't stay in a store for an hour not to mention I brought in brands such as Aritzia princess Polly Zara Levi's Coach, and they took two items. One was a Walmart pair of shorts. The other was a tube top they offered me seven dollars I said no of course because are you kidding? I've complained about this place so many times I thought they changed. But no still absolutely awful. Go to Plato's closet or crossroads trading Company. Only promote businesses that do good business holding people hostage until their buys are done and not even taking a name brands, but SHEIN and forever 21 is a joke. I am owed an apology for the hour and a half. I wasted of my life and no you cannot make me wait in a store against my will then punish me and not buy my good brands because I didn't follow your directions like I'm two years old. read more

The store is decently priced and has a large selection. The major draw back is they don't have much for larger plus sized people. Also their actual brand name items are very pricey. read more

To avoid wasting time and fuel, I called ahead to confirm their availability. The staff member advised me that they could only inspect my garments an hour prior to closing, they close at 8:00. Upon arriving at 6:15, the salesperson explained that they could only assist customers within the two-hour window preceding closing time. I consider this to be highly unprofessional, reflecting a lack of proper training and a disregard for customers' time and expenses. As a result, I will not be returning to this store or utilizing their services in the future. . Saturday April 11th, 2026 read more

I just one to give Uptown cheapskate the best review. Nikko, Amber,Ava, and therest of the awesome team are so wonderful to me every time I come in They give the best pieces for your use clothes I have been coming here for many years and both stores give the best customer service. I recommend this store to everyone you will not be disappointed! read more

I'm writing to share some feedback about a phone call I had with your team. I called to ask whether you were still accepting items for cash and if so, whether cash would still be available in about 30 minutes, since that's roughly how long my commute would take. In response, the employee I spoke with said, "I don't know, I'm not psychic." I found this response dismissive and unprofessional, and honestly wasn't sure how to react at the time. I'm sharing this not to get anyone in trouble, but because I don't think this is the kind of interaction customers should have when calling in with a reasonable question. I'd appreciate it if this could be addressed with the staff member involved. I called around 11:43 am on July 9. read more

Spent a few hours going thru my closet and packed two bins. I've always taken two bins to cheapskate as I was told that's their maximum allowed. Spent thoughtful time about what to bring - mostly new stuff with tags. Walked in and the older lady manager doesn't even say hello she brings a black empty bin and says "we are only taking 25 items max so go thru your stuff and put your best 25 items in here". Are you effing kidding me lady? So rude, felt pushed off what cause we had tattoos? The store was jammed packed with clothes and maybe one buyer. Bet it's cause of people like her not wanting to even shop here. This was such a waste of time driving all the way from Huntington to be treated like garbage. Shame on you old lady! read more

I always love shopping at Uptown Cheapskate, especially when Ava and Jen are working! They both make my experience so fun and easy every time I'm in the store. They always let me know about the best deals and are incredibly kind. I'll definitely be coming back way more often because of them. Thanks, girls! read more

Extremely Unprofessional I walked into Uptown Cheapskate and within one minute of entering, some random lady suddenly yelled across the store: "Everyone get out, we fucking close in 5 minutes." At first we assumed she was an employee because of how aggressively she said it. When we realized she wasn't, we called her out on it. Her response? "Yeah, I'm kind of crazy." What made the situation worse was that the actual employees said nothing about her behavior. No one corrected her, asked her to stop, or even acknowledged how inappropriate it was. On top of that, no staff member informed us when we walked in that the store was closing in 5 minutes even though it was over a hour before the website said they closed, which would have avoided the entire situation. Overall it felt chaotic, unprofessional, and uncomfortable. Customers shouldn't be yelled at by random people in the store while staff just stand there and do nothing. Definitely not a great first impression. read more

Recently dropped a bunch of clothes that my daughter never wore or gently wore to see if we could get anything as the tags were on some and other items were barely worn. I like that they donate whatever they don't buy to a local shelter as well! I was paid well and happy the other items were donated to those in need will be back! read more

I came here on a Saturday to sell clothes and was notified by the guy behind the register it's store credit only and to come back Mon-Friday. Monday comes around and I come back with 2 big bags (mind you I am 9 months pregnant) and he tells me the same thing, store credit only. I asked if he could just at least take a look at the items and I can come back the next morning to pick up cash, but refused to help. Waste of time! read more

Stock changes daily. Staff is friendly and they let you know what added discount specials they are running on the merch. This is also displayed throughout the store. It's nice also that you receive points to shop that you can use towards future purchases. Store is well maintained, with adequate means of egress, and items are well organized by sizes. I only knocked pff 1 star because if you want to resell any of your own things, they only pay you a fraction of what your items are worth. They make a good profit for turning around and selling the items you give them by charging at least double what you were paid. Great for them. Not so great for anyone wanting to unload stuff they can't sell on their own. read more

I was in a bind on the way to a meeting and realized I left my blouse on the hangar at home!! Super stressed out at 9:50 with my meeting at 10 am I found a Ross. When I pulled in the parking lot I discovered this store and an amazing woman opening up shop 10 mins early. I ran in explained I needed a top stat. She immediately ran to the floor and pulled options for me I was out the door in less than 5 mins. Also, my top came out to $3.23. Such a great deal! Thank you amber for all of your help and kindness! I'll be back! read more

it was our first time visiting the area and we stumbled upon Uptown Cheapskates and it was so awesome. The staff was great and helpful and the variety of clothes and shoes was amazing. definitely found our new spot when we pass through read more

Great help. Great selection. Bought our used clothes and we took store credit, but they offer cash. Awesome.

I've shopped here and found my most favorite vintage Levi's ever. Their inventory is great, and the prices are reasonable. I've also sold clothes and they are also fair in what they pay. Really love this place. read more

Selling here? Yeah... it's a humbling experience. I brought in items I genuinely thought were in-season, in great condition, and from solid brands -- only to be met with, "No thanks," or offers so low I felt like I was being punked. Meanwhile, as I'm standing there watching them sort through my clothes like I brought in a bag of rags, I look around and realize... they're selling SHEIN. For actual money. Like, more than it cost new. Make it make sense. Safe to say, I won't be wasting my time (or my wardrobe) here again. read more

I always enjoy stopping in to check out what new stuff they have, and rarely do I leave empty-handed. The prices are very fair, the people behind the counter are always helpful and friendly, and their dressing rooms are clean and organized. Honestly this was one of the most overpriced thrift stores I've ever been to. I thought it was adjacent to Plato's closet but more expensive. The used shoe section was expensive too, used shoes from $25-100. Some cute finds but not worth the price. SHEIN for $15 is crazy. If it was a quality piece I wouldn't bat an eye. Theres a goodwill across the street. read more

Selling is a dismal experience here. They act like they're doing you a favor by buying any of your items. Isn't the whole business model based on buying and selling? Maybe they just have their head up their asses on fashion. I've walked in with bags of pretty decent clothes, which they'll maybe buy 1 item and totally undercut its value. I guess the name is pretty accurate, they're cheapskates. In terms of what they're selling, I've gotten some decent items, but they certainly weren't bargains. Crossroads is just a friendlier, reasonable experience for selling. read more

This shop preys on people in crisis and then hides behind shifting stories. There were two pairs of sneakers; only the Nike LeBron James pair had an original purchase price of 200 dollars, and yet both pairs together were valued at 21 dollars during the visit. If either pair was truly fake, why did you proceed with such an outrageous low‑ball and then change the narrative after the fact? Where did you even find that rude salesperson--someone who insults customers, throws around 'fake' without written proof, and pretends it's 'help'? A professional store provides itemized offers, written authentication, and a clear chain of custody. If you're honest, return both pairs now or provide documentation; otherwise, ship my shoes back and a payment will be sent that covers exactly what you paid plus insured postage. I don't even feel safe approaching that place--look away for one second and it feels like your pocket could be picked. This is how you treated someone who had lost a wallet and needed cash just to get home. Your tone alone shows you're not telling the truth."shame , shame read more

Laya and Jayden had the best customer service i have received in a long time. They made me feel so welcome and helped me pick some clothes out. They were so kind and professional. I'm honestly sad to write this because I've supported this business for 10+ years. Recently their policies have gotten so strict, it's turned me off from giving them my business. I'd buy and sell from them regularly throughout the years. Their employees were not helpful and seemed annoyed that I was asking them to do their job. They also limit the number of bags of clothes you can sell to them. I had 3 bags and was told I could only sell ONE to them. Weird concept considering their business foundation is based on sellers selling to them. I'm pregnant and was told I wouldn't be able to go sit down in my car. I was also told that I couldn't bring my products to sell them in a trash bag and needed to transfer it to plastic bins or reusable bags. I'm done supporting this business. Update: Took the same bag to crossroads, met with a smile, left with $280 cash, purchased $180 and consigned said Gucci bag. Just goes to show you the person behind the counter is the face of your brand. I was looking for a company to do continue business with going forward and Crossroads won my business. Original Review: Brand new customer and client was greeted with zero eye contact by Amber with an attitude as long as the day. Brought in well over 50 items, including Gucci and Chloe she didn't even look inside the bag and rejected all of it. I am in the resale business of High and Goods . I understand what is acceptable and what is not my free people Rag'n'Bone and many others were current season brand new with the tags smoke-free pet free home. She was just trying to prove a point, she was being rude, and I hope that the owner of this company will take this into consideration. read more

I swear I've never walked out of this place with a win. actually I've never walked out not being annoyed or pissed off. they hardly ever take anything even if it's an item or brand they say they're interested in. one time they offer me $4 for a brand new pair of Levi's shorts with the tags still on them. I also walked in at 6:39pm and they said they stop taking clothes at the counter at 6:30pm. their hours are never listed right. honestly you're so much better off just donating your clothes to people who need them. read more

Always find great clothing! The staff is helpful and selling clothes is easy and rewarding!

Sorted by size and great brands. Both mom and daughter like shopping here. Good discounts

Do not come here to sell if you're not young - middle aged. They will not buy your items. They only cater to younger customers. If you sell, they will have you wait inside the store for about an hour or so. If you're planning to sell something, just be prepared to wait for a long time. If you're older, and would like to sell your clothes here, I think it's best not to waste your time unless you've got nothing else to do. Proceed with caution! read more

I definitely prefer this Uptown Cheapskate location especially when it comes to selling clothing. Service can be improved, I felt during my visit that the manager named Amber is pretty rude and racist I think..I asked one question what is on sale or what are the discounts for that day, she specifically said that all is 75% off the retail, while walking away, (DuH?) offcouse everything's is preloved? and while in line, instead of me helping because I was first in line, a girl with the same race like her gets helped from her..I felt kinda upset..and leave the place. read more
