There are a few benefits to working in Loveland. One being the shops at Centerra. Today my lovely…read morefriend Meghan introduced me to Francesca's, and I'm not sure my retail life will ever be the same. I can only describe it as Anthropologie-lite (sorry Yvonne C!) - I walked out of there with a sweet winter wool coat for $37 on sale. Seriously? I could have bought 5 for the price of my last big coat investment. Granted, it probably won't last me as long, but it's just what I was looking for. This particular location is not super large - they are a family owned chain of about 100+ stores - but features fashionable, reasonably priced clothes (Meghan got 2 great dresses for $60), lots of jewelry and handbags, picture frames, and some odds and ends gifty items. Really, I love it. Right now they are having a 30% sale on almost everything in the store. That makes me happy.

There's not much and the shopping center is EMPTY!... I came out with nothing and as I was about to leave, I saw the sign for this place and decided to check it out. So glad I did! This place is like an Anthropologie meets Forever 21, with cute doodads up front, nice jewelry and really cute dresses that are not too expensive. Their adorable dresses range from $30-50 and are pretty unique designs. I found one that I've grown very fond of and found it a steal at $20 but when I was rung up it was an additional 50% off... I ended up getting more items. I told the girls (who were absolutely wonderful) working there that I was from CA and she told me that Francesca's is actually based there. But mainly in SoCal. Darn.. but at least I don't have to fly all the way out to the Ft. Collins area to see this place again.

I had heard about Scheels for years but never stepped inside one. A friend of mine from Minnesota…read moreused to drive past the huge Scheels billboards whenever I visited, and for some reason I assumed it was more of a farm supply type place where people bought machinery and work clothes. Because of that completely wrong assumption, I never bothered to go in. Fast forward a few years and after reading the reviews here in Colorado I finally decided I had to see it for myself. Yesterday, March 6th, the weather was miserable. Cold, windy, light snow and rain. Not the kind of day you want to be outside, let alone skiing. So I figured it was the perfect day to finally give Scheels a try. I ended up spending five hours in the store and taking more than 250 photos, and this place absolutely blew my mind. There were sports and equipment sections I didn't even know existed. The store truly has everything you could possibly need and then some. What impressed me most was the staff. They were knowledgeable and helpful but didn't hover every five seconds like some stores do, which allowed me to really explore and absorb everything. The shoe selection was outstanding with every kind of running shoe, ski boot, work boot and outdoor footwear you could imagine, and the shoe staff were clearly well trained helping customers. I also spent about 45 minutes in the luggage section, which was surprisingly impressive. It's clearly a curated department run by someone who truly understands travel. I spoke with a luggage specialist who I believe is from Asia and a serious world traveler herself. She was incredibly knowledgeable and immediately understood what I meant when I told her I was tired of hard-sided luggage and wanted something built for an active lifestyle. She introduced me to a beautiful 100-liter Patagonia rolling duffel with durable wheels, strong zippers, and soft-sided construction that can actually handle real travel. These types of bags come with lifetime guarantees on the wheels and zippers, and now I'm officially saving my pennies to buy one. The store itself was alive and buzzing with families, couples, hunters, skiers and outdoor enthusiasts everywhere. The only section that felt a little thin was the women's golf apparel where most of the XS sizes were gone, while the men's golf section was very well stocked. Parking was plentiful and easy. Scheels isn't just a sporting goods store. It's an experience.

Colorado gifts, Denver broncos, nuggets, and avalanche collectibles. Hunting, fishing, guns, ammo, knives, barbecue supplies, a sportsman's dream come true. I was blown away by the customer service, kindness, and kindness professionalism of these owner-operators. I just wish it were a little closer to my house.
