Because of that completely wrong assumption, I never bothered to go in. Fast forward a few years and after reading the reviews here in Colorado I finally decided I had to see it for myself. Yesterday, March 6th, the weather was miserable. Cold, windy, light snow and rain. Not the kind of day you want to be outside, let alone skiing. So I figured it was the perfect day to finally give Scheels a try. I ended up spending five hours in the store and taking more than 250 photos, and this place absolutely blew my mind. There were sports and equipment sections I didn't even know existed. The store truly has everything you could possibly need and then some. What impressed me most was the staff. They were knowledgeable and helpful but didn't hover every five seconds like some stores do, which allowed me to really explore and absorb everything. The shoe selection was outstanding with every kind of running shoe, ski boot, work boot and outdoor footwear you could imagine, and the shoe staff were clearly well trained helping customers. I also spent about 45 minutes in the luggage section, which was surprisingly impressive. It's clearly a curated department run by someone who truly understands travel. I spoke with a luggage specialist who I believe is from Asia and a serious world traveler herself. She was incredibly knowledgeable and immediately understood what I meant when I told her I was tired of hard-sided luggage and wanted something built for an active lifestyle. She introduced me to a beautiful 100-liter Patagonia rolling duffel with durable wheels, strong zippers, and soft-sided construction that can actually handle real travel. These types of bags come with lifetime guarantees on the wheels and zippers, and now I'm officially saving my pennies to buy one. The store itself was alive and buzzing with families, couples, hunters, skiers and outdoor enthusiasts everywhere. The only section that felt a little thin was the women's golf apparel where most of the XS sizes were gone, while the men's golf section was very well stocked. Parking was plentiful and easy. Scheels isn't just a sporting goods store. It's an experience.

Colorado gifts, Denver broncos, nuggets, and avalanche collectibles. Hunting, fishing, guns, ammo, knives, barbecue supplies, a sportsman's dream come true. I was blown away by the customer service, kindness, and kindness professionalism of these owner-operators. I just wish it were a little closer to my house.

But this afternoon I arrived at Whiteside's at 3pm (on a Saturday!) and they repaired the heels on my dress shoes, lickety-split, while I waited. My shoes look brand new. My boyfriend and I were at this store on Saturday 11/30 because another store said we should come here to try on a boot in a certain width. When we got there we loved the boot but the width and size wasn't something they had in the store. So if we did want it, it would need to be ordered which is understandable. But the Manager Joe kept pressuring us to buy from there and we were adamant that we wanted to buy it from the initial recommending sales person and store, since that is normally who we work with. Joe then got more upset and said "why are you even here?". I understand there may be commission or sales numbers for the stores but to be THAT rude....is NO WAY ok. I can only describe it as Anthropologie-lite (sorry Yvonne C!) - I walked out of there with a sweet winter wool coat for $37 on sale. Seriously? I could have bought 5 for the price of my last big coat investment. Granted, it probably won't last me as long, but it's just what I was looking for. This particular location is not super large - they are a family owned chain of about 100+ stores - but features fashionable, reasonably priced clothes (Meghan got 2 great dresses for $60), lots of jewelry and handbags, picture frames, and some odds and ends gifty items. Really, I love it. Right now they are having a 30% sale on almost everything in the store. That makes me happy.

I ended up getting more items. I told the girls (who were absolutely wonderful) working there that I was from CA and she told me that Francesca's is actually based there. But mainly in SoCal.
