Prices must of changed compared to the menu posted on here. I ordered a brisket sandwich, one rib and one hot link and it came out 17.59. Whatever, prices probably went up. Get home, the brisket was good. Sauce not bad. But the rib was bone dry, and the link was shriveled and not juicy. One and done for me. read more

Honestly my new favorite place in the Wichita area! I came in Saturday night to pick up some dinner, and was created with staff that was so nice! Very welcoming and had a family feel to it. Boones Pickens is a small little restaurant nestled into a strip mall and Andover. The inside is old Pinewood booth, seatings, and a small bar type seating which the stools are made of tree trunks which is it a nice homie hillbilly feeling the waitress greet you and almost hit your table before You get seated, which is nice in this day and age. I think another reason it's like that is a lot of people eat there a lot and we've only done lunch and they respective people have a short period of time to get their meals and probably 90% of them are return customers The food is extremely good to excellent every time cornbread baked beans potato salad are all homemade the brisket the ribs I'll always perfectly cooked and at the table there's five or six different types of barbecue sauce and condiments. I don't know how their dinner is. We've only done lunches there, but I would guess it would be excellent seating would be the only problem I could see. read more

I'll start with the good: the staff was friendly, it's well decorated and the ambiance is decent Onward to the rest. My god, that might have been the worst excuse for brisket I've ever experienced. And by might have been, I mean absolutely was. We were told it just came out of the smoker. No chance of there being a smoker in a strip mall. That shoe leather had been boiled in salt water, shame, and despair. Could barely be cut with a knife and had flavor that was worse than anything I had the misfortune of consuming in the military. Even doused in BBQ sauce that stuff was inedible. This Texan has never left brisket on a platter before, until today. Sides were ok-ish. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

The owner/BBQ master came by and greeted us. He told us how they have fresh marinated meats and how his wife shucks the corn herself for the corn pudding! We got Burnt Ends Dinner and the Pulled Pork Sandwich. My boyfriend said it the "best burnt ends" he's ever had and I absolutely agree! All the meats were tender and the taste is incredible. Sides were just a bonus! Corn pudding is sweet "corn-bread in pudding form" with pieces of corn in there. Definitely a must-try. Pasta salad had the right amount of tang to it. We will definitely be coming by here next time we're in Wichita and having a BBQ craving. read more

Came in for some Saturday lunch and was greeted by Boone the owner. We sat down and ordered the two meat plate with ribs and brisket. It comes w lots of sides choices so we had the coleslaw and bbq beans. We also had a taste of the corn pudding. One word for all....? DELICIOUS!!! The meat was perfectly seasoned and just right portions. The cole slaw was freshly cut and perfectly dressed. The bbq beans seasoned just right not too spicy or mild. Finally the corn pudding was like a veggie dessert. Sweet and tasty. Fantastic service conversation and food. What more can you ask for ??? After some cot chat Boone brought out samples of their house made Corn Pudding and the Burnt Ends. FIVE STARS. However we ordered our m Smoked Brisket and Baby Back Ribs. Awesome once again! Five Stars. Garlic Coleslaw was also Five Stars! This is awesome food made with quality meats and produce. Just for starters, Boone Pickins is in a small Plaza and their sign was damaged, probably by the weather. So if you don't see their shop right away, don't give up. The food was delicious and the lady working (I believe the owner or one of the owners) was so nice and hospitable. The sausage, green beans and burnt ends were super yummy. We were passing through on our road trip and she let us stay during their closing hours to finish up eating. The small locally run business has that personal pride and effort that turns into special experience. We were passing through tonight and found this small business as a quick takeout meal to enjoy the local Wichita BBQ fare. We had a Burnt End dinner and Brisket dinner. Wow! Having recently moved to Andover, there seemed to be a dearth of good restaurants. However, we found this quiet little place nestled back into a commercial area on the north side and were pleasantly surprised! We found their entire menu to be mouth-watering and enjoyed everything from the sandwiches to the ribs. The owner has a very unique sauce and rub he uses, which makes the ribs irresistible! I've been to a good handful of bbq spots in the greater Wichita area and this place is on point. I got all three sauces and let me tell you they have everything for each person in your bunch. My favorite was the sweet and spicy sauce but the other sauces didn't disappoint either. We were in the area for a funeral and were on the way back to the hotel after visiting with the family. We found this place on Yelp!, and it definitely did not disappoint us. We were a little apprehensive when we saw how small the place was, but we went in anyway. The owner was one of the friendliest, most down-home people I have ever met. You order at the counter and he described every dish we asked about. Everything except the applesauce is made there. I ordered a burnt end sandwich which took a little extra time to come out, so he brought us a sample of the homemade chicken noodle soup. Even the noodles were made from scratch and were thick and delicious. The broth in the soup was rich and perfectly seasoned. The burnt end sandwich was great, but I would probably just get the meat without the bread next time because the meat was fantastic by itself. I got sides of baked beans (which were good but not remarkably so) and corn pudding. Oh my! The corn pudding!! They cut the corn off the cob themselves and then mix up some magical stuff with it. It is sooooo good! I know there was cinnamon and ginger but I am not sure what else. The description doesn't sound nearly as good as it tastes. And they told us it was gluten-free if that matters to you, And I haven't even gotten into the decor and Andy Griffith show on TV! Simply outstanding. I just stopped here with my family and had the best burnt ends I have ever had. The meat was juicy, flavorful and cooked to perfection, we're talking down to the second. I had baked beans and pasta salad for sides. The beans were perfectly sweetened, and served very hot in temperature, I'll wait a minute or two before eating them next time. The pasta was the lone disappointment of the meal as it was a little bland. The service for our hostess Rae was perfect. She was friendly, gave good recommendations and was very attentive. Your keeps your cups of iced tea and coffee filled the instant you need a refill, and she's great with kids too.
