We arrived at 6:00 PM and were promptly seated. The restaurant has a nice, open layout with large doors leading to a spacious patio. Our server was friendly and helped us choose our meals. We all ended up ordering the Whiskey Beef Stroganoff, which took about 30 minutes to arrive. Everyone enjoyed it, I thought it could have been a little more favorable. He checked on us regularly and offered to sell us more drinks from the bar, but never refilled our water glasses -- unfortunately, water was my drink of choice that night. For dessert, we shared the Wedding Cake and Crème Brûlée, both of which were excellent. As for the ambiance -- I should have listened to my wife. She warned me that they were having live music, and she was right. It was loud -- uncomfortably so. We struggled to have a conversation, and even saw another couple order drinks, pay, and leave because of the volume. Lesson learned. Would we return? Yes, but not on a live music night. Pro tips for servers: keep water glasses full and clear plates after the meal. Miss one of those, and your tip might reflect it. read more

I stumbled upon this quaint place this evening by accident but I am happy that I did. I walked in and was immediately greeted and told I could choose my table. They shared with me what beverages they have available, and I chose the house made lavender lemonade. It was absolutely the right choice and delicious. I then proceeded to order the Cajun pasta with shrimp, side, salad with ranch, and the seasonal pumpkin spice, crème brûlée dessert. The side salad was a great portion. The ranch dressing was a little watered down. The Cajun pasta was beautifully flavored and robust. The noodles were cooked to perfection, and the shrimp was delicious. It does come with tails. The bread they serve it with is so fresh! (Make sure you check your teeth after. There are a lot of spices). The pumpkin spice crème brûlée was served cold and creamy, with a perfectly crunchy, crisp top layer to make it a classic crème brûlée with a flare. My only complaint was that when I was greeted, I was not told it was happy hour and it was assumed that I didn't want an alcoholic beverage as I was not asked or told. I ordered the kitchen burger which is just their own burger blend, tomato, onion, lettuce. The burger was excellent. Well seasoned, juicy, and the vegetables added the texture and helped cut the richness of the meat. The fries were divine. Perfectly crispy and salted with a parseley garnish. Unfortunately the waiter missed a few things with my order. The meat was more well done and i asked for med rare. I also asked for american cheese but was given cheddar. This review is for the Oliver location. Went in for my birthday dinner with some friends. We brought in our own cake thinking it wouldn't be an issue. A man, who we think was the manager or something wearing normal every clothes, came up to us abruptly asking if we brought in a cake. He then proceed to rudely tell us it was against "state law" for outside food to be brought in. we asked if they could put it in their fridge and he responded it was also against "state law" and a "liability". As someone who works in the restaurant industry, it is not against any state law to bring in outside food. Overall a very weird interaction. THEN after we removed the cake from the building we continuously got mean mugged and dirty glares from the employees. This ultimately made us very uncomfortable and we did not feel welcome there at all. Will not be returning to this restaurant due to the unprofessional and rude behavior of the staff. read more

Very happening place in downtown Wichita. They do not take reservations and i was not sure where to park because of union station signs allover. I like the waitresses concept of working as a teamwork and helping all the tables. Hidden gem in Wichita with so many option of food to choose from. Beef stroganoff is amazing I guess when Chris is in the kitchen. I got southwest chicken bowl. Wish they would put more of the sauce, it was just a little on the dry side. My friend and I recently enjoyed an evening out there, sampling several menu items that left us impressed overall. We kicked off our meal with a couple of cocktails - the passionfruit drink provided a refreshing tropical flavor while the boozy lavender lemonade balanced sweet and floral notes. For appetizers, we went with the caprese garlic bread. The garlic flavor was complimented by the balsamic glaze and tomatoes. For our main entrees, we tried the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and the chicken & waffle. The Nashville hot chicken came out crispy and spicy with the chicken breast absolutely massive in size - this is not a sandwich for small appetites! The chicken & waffle featured a large fried chicken breast perched above a fluffy Belgian-style waffle. While the chicken was on the drier side, the waffle itself was delicious, especially combined with the accompanying hot honey sauce. To finish, the creme brulee had a perfectly custardy interior topped with a brittle burnt sugar crust. It was rich and smooth. The indoor seating at The Kitchen is quite limited, but they have ample outdoor patio space. The vibe is trendy and upbeat, and our server was very friendly. I got the flatbread chicken and spinach pizza 6/10 and the lavender tea 7.5/10. I also got a cup of cheeseburger soup to go and just tried it, 9.5/10. My friends and I have been trying local places and found this one. This was our first visit and we were not impressed. We were not greeted when we arrived. We guessed we should seat ourselves and finally managed to find a table that was clean and not reserved, waited several more minutes before being helped. We had the caprese garlic bread, grilled cheese, tomato soup, and a garden salad. Everything was on the bland and unseasoned side. The cheese in the sandwich was sad and unmelted. The hard boiled egg on the salad was over cooked and had a dark green ring around the yolk. The appetizer was one small piece of bread cut into pieces and was not toasted and soggy; not worth the price. I ordered a cocktail off the happy hour menu, it didn't taste like anything but no one was by for me to ask until the end when they brought tickets. It was the regular lavender lemonade instead of the boozy lemonade; she wasn't paying attention to me pointing at the boozy one on the menu as I ordered. Being my first time, I didn't realize there was a difference. The only resolution I was offered was for her to change it and bring a boozy lemonade out as we were leaving which I obviously didn't want to do. Chug it on the way out the door? I don't like causing a fuss so paid for it, but comping the incorrect drink would have been a nice gesture at least. Overall, the food was okay, the service was lacking and we have no desire to return. read more

My first visit here. I was pleasantly surprised. I had the Disco Fries as an appetizer. They were absolutely delicious. Cheese, chicken and fries. Amazing combination. I ordered the Philly Smash Burger, similar to Philly cheesesteak. It was good but not great. Would i order it again? Probably not. But don't let that stop you. I also ordered the Lemon cake for dessert. More like yellow cake with tart lemon frosting. I'm cool on it, and I Love Lemon. Our waitress was amazing. And let o forget I ordered a drink with lavender and Lemon it. Oh my oh my...I could have had several of those. My wife said," Can't you see he is still eating!" Not more than 5 minutes later, the host that had been seating everyone. Came to the table and asked if he could take my plate. The first thing to highlight would be the staff. I know this is going to sound dumb, but I liked the encouragement that our waitress gave us as we ordered. Everything we ordered at our table was followed up with a "That's a great choice" or "That's one of my favorites". It really gave us a good sense that the staff actually likes what they serve. I was sceptical to say the least. The menu items didn't seem impressive and the selection was kind of blah....The old saying of "Don't just a book by its cover" is the perfect analogy to this place. The food was very good and was a notch above what you would expect. Not one person in our party (of 10) disliked anything they got...It was all 10 out of 10 reviews. Definitely one of the best "finds" on our latest road trip! The earlier reviews led us to divert slightly off the I-135 to give the place a try, and we were not disappointed! I ordered the Macaroni and Cheese with the Nashville Hot Chicken, and I believe it is the best tasting Nashville version I've had - including when I had it in Nashville! The combination of sweet and spice was perfect - Enough to give it a kick, but not so much as to lose the sweetness! My daughters had the Penne Alfredo and the Chicken and Spinach flatbread pizza, respectively, and both of them really enjoyed it. I sampled each in exchange for a "small bite" of the Nashville Hot Chicken l was enjoying. My wife had the Quiche special, which she said was well prepared. Stopped into the North Oliver location for the first time. As a big fan of the downtown location, I was pleased to find all of my favorites on the menu. Ordered the Italian bowl.
