Wanted to give a shout out to a local business with a pretty darn good menu! Located in downtown New Albany in a well-loved building near the river. I stopped in this time for a takeout order of wings with kickin' bourbon sauce option and a Boomtown Melt sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. Wings were not as crisp as I personally prefer, so I threw them in the air fryer and voila! Perfection! Sandwich and fries were delish. Casual restaurant in Downtown [New Albany IN] Dined at this restaurant by recommendation. Less than a mile from our hotel we came midday in between lunch and dinner so the place was pretty much empty with just a few other patrons. We could sit wherever so we chose a booth at the corner. This was an Americana style restaurant with classic steak, pork, chicken, and vegetarian dishes at reasonable prices. We placed our order for... BLACKENED SALMON - tender and seared. For an additional $1 I asked for bourbon glaze to be spread on my salmon. It was served on a bed of wild rice. The bourbon glaze was definitely a game-changer... the combination of sweet, smoky, and tangy flavors created a yummy flavor. CAJUN PORK CHOPS: not one but two thick cut pork chops brined & seared. Topped with Cajun butter. Husband shared a few bites with me and it had me craving for more. A friend and I visited for the first time and have NO complaints. Jordan was our very cordial and informative server. You can tell she is a seasoned server, being very attentive to our needs. We ate outside on the upper deck as it was perfect weather. The huge 100 year old tree provided shade and there was a slight breeze. I ordered Chicken with side of broccoli and my friend ordered chicken Florentine with broccoli. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Chicken was moist and flavorful. Broccoli was perfectly cooked also with great color and texture. For our Veteran friends, be glad for the discount. I look forward to visiting again. Eating outside was nice. read more

My fiancée and I shared their Cajun Pork Chops (2). They were thick and delicious. We also shared loaded cheese fries as the side that came with the meal. The loaded fries rivaled those of Outback. They came with a spicy ranch sauce that was very good. We ordered a side salad as an extra side, also good, and both of us were full from the one meal. However, they have a creamery next door. Can't pass that up, right?! It's known for it's outrageous (coma inducing) shakes. We opted to stay conscious and got single cones that were laying over the side of the cones! Service was very good; all servers seemed to have customers at the top of their list! Menu was nice and there were a few new items that were not on list; such as jalapeño poppers-which I recommend. Food was serviced fairly quick and very fresh as just being made. The deck is a nice outdoor seating area where if the weather is nice it's a nice area to view the riverfront. Interior is strange (except for that penny floor, that was amazing) but the outside deck area is incredible, nice and quiet and shaded. My drink was the Pineapple jalapeno margarita. Dont bother, it was weak and watery. Tasted nothing like alcohol even though it was a pretty decent size. My entree was the Shrimp and grits (Blackened tender shrimp over creamy cheesy grits). This is a very hearty, stick to your ribs dish. The grits have so much cheese they have a pull. Pretty damned tasty though. I also tried the Fried Pickles: they served with ranch and are just OK. The breading is very light and not crispy. But I really enjoyed the Spicy Corn Poppers (poppers filled with corn, cream cheese and a spicy kick). They arent spicy per say, but they are very flavorful and were an awesome choice. Service was spot on, although there were only like 7 customers in the whole place at the time so its to be expected. Really good! Stopped into New Albany to watch the eclipse by the river. This was open, so we popped in for lunch. My kids got the mac and cheese and I got the salmon cake with wild rice. Really liked it and the entire bill was only like $29. read more

The first time we went there, the food was delicious so we thought we would try it again! While the food was still good, I preferred my first meal there. The burger was delicious! The second time I got chicken fingers, they were okay, just not as good as the burger. My dad had ordered a Manhattan and we thought it was taking a little while to make so we joked that our server was probably looking up how to make it. Turns out, he was!! Had a really sketchy experience with the service as others have recently noted. Food was good and fairly priced , our group got burgers, salmon and grilled cheese. Draft beer was out due to lack of CO2. Umm what? Ordered cocktails including the $6 old fashioned. Bill came and they had been upgraded to $11 Woodford old fashioned without our knowledge. Tracked down server {hanging out chatting with other employees on their phones} who said they were out of the listed bourbon so he "picked one he thought would be good". Shady AF. If you are looking for a good place to eat with simple food you have to check them out. Located in New Albany. It sits in the former location of the infamous South Side Inn. One of the best places to get fish in our area. While things have changed the food is excellent. They have a good beer selection. No kids menu but there is enough there a kid would like. One thing you need to pay attention to is the penny floor when you walk in. Dumb me forgot to get a picture. Go support this local place. Go shop in New Albany and then go grab some food. Plenty of parking. It is right by the river front area so you can eat and then go check out the river walk. You won't be disappointed. read more

Ordered an 8 oz burger with fries and a pretzel. All was good except the fries, which were undercooked. Some were limp because they thawed in the grease but didn't get fried. The pretzel was excellent. Service was mediocre as the order was slow coming. It wasn't noon yet so maybe the fryer wasn't up to temperature yet (would explain the fries)? Boomtown Kitchen is alright. We randomly stopped into this spot back in the summer for a drink, since they have a patio. We were riding our scooters around the area and decided to pop in. The restaurant wasn't overly busy, just a few diners seated inside and two other groups on the patio. You walk through the restaurant to access the patio, so I was able to see the inside as well. They have some cool decor features, including a penny floor. Once outside, the patio sits just over their parking lot, so depending on where you sit you can have a fairly nice view, or you may be overlooking blacktop. We were lucky and sat on the side with the nicest view. Our service was very slow. I'm sure they had reasons, but given that the restaurant was not very busy, we seemed to be waiting an extremely long time. When we finally ordered and received drinks, we had a nice time drinking, chatting, and enjoying the patio. The drinks were alright. Both tasted good, but weren't anything I would specifically go back for. When we finished, our server never returned. After waiting over 20 minutes (after finishing) we finally left cash on the table and headed out. This was my only experience with this spot, so I can't comment on their food or anything else, but as far as the drinks and patio go, they're alright. Lunch with a friend, we decided to try Boom Town Kitchen - a newer spot in New Albany that I've been wanting to try. We are dealing with masks and social distancing in our current world but Boom Town was able to accommodate well. We visited at an off time in the day and had no wait.  We had the option of patio or inside- we opted for inside.  I love the decorations; wooden booths, looks like repurposed wood bar, penny floors; very unique. The lighting at the tables could be a little brighter to read the menu. The menu has lots to offer; from burgers and salads to entrees. So many options sounded so good! There was only two of us so we were couldn't sample all things we wanted; just a list for next time! We ordered an appetizer - Cheese frees, then she ordered a burger and I ordered  salad.  I also ordered a cocktail. Let's start with the cheese fries. I could have had that beer cheese drizzled on everything -- so good! So good. A good balance of spice, beer, and of course cheese. The bacon topping was plentiful and the fries were good too! Have you ever continued to eat something because it was so so good but you weren't hungry; pretty much that! My friend said she actually had ordered the burger before and it was awesome! Juicy burger, great toppings, filling! My salad was very good; a variety of leafy greens, really really good ranch dressing and great salad toppings. We actually ended up staying there and chatting at our cozy booth for a while. I can't remember how I found this place or why but I'm glad I did! I think originally I found this via Facebook because of the triple bypass burger. I decided to try something new and went here with my friend for lunch. I got the fire burger and he got the fat boy burger. We both got sweet potato fries and I ordered the giant dessert pretzel and he ordered the corn fritters for our appetizers. I should've save the pretzel for last but I regret nothing. It was hot and delicious with a cream cheese dipping sauce. Think Auntie Annie's but on a giant scale. The corn fritters were also good though after the pretzel I could only eat a few. Lastly but not least were the burgers, they were both good but again couldn't finish mine but my friend finished his. The server was friendly and it was surprisingly not busy for a Saturday night. I don't usually get hyped up to write a review here, but I LOVED Boomtown Kitchen and I'm so happy that something so solid has finally moved into Southside - prayers that Boomtown stays long and prospers. The pretzel with beer cheese was fabulous. Gigantic pretzel, crisp exterior, warm, and just enough salt. Very good. The accompanying beer cheese was a large portion, probably 1 cup, and was smooth, creamy, and had a tad bit of heat. Delicious. For dinner we did the blackened salmon which was moist and had a great flavor, as well as the salmon cakes. The salmon cakes took the cake: big portion, pan-fried crisp on the outside, topped with pico and a nice, simple drizzle of aioli. We also did the house salad and the zucchini and squash - soo good. All fresh, wonderful ingredients, and loved the flavors of everything we had. Last but not least, the "Perry-Dise" cocktail was FANTASTIC. Fruity, sweet, and HOT. This cocktail was infused with a housemade mango habanero mixture, and it was awesome. Definitely recommend! Will be a regular here for sure. Seems like every restaurant in downtown New Albany is in a barely held together building. I like the history and the penny floor, but I did feel like I was going to fall through the floor everywhere else. When we visited, it was not crowded, but it still took a long time to get food. I was the only member of our party that liked their food. I had the Cajun pork chops. I recommend them, and I don't usually like pork chops. The chicken Florentine had no taste at all. The person who ordered it said it tasted funny. The fiesta rice bowl had little fiesta but lots of rice. It really wasn't worth it. The loaded fries were good. read more

Absolutely the worst experience ever. It was so bad I signed up with Yelp just so I could leave a review!!! My wife and I, along with our two children decided to stop in and try some of the local cuisine. There was a sign at the front counter that said, "please wait to be seated." So we did...for about ten minutes. When no one came to the counter we started to look for assistance. One of the waiting staff approached us and said, "You can't read the damn sign?!" My wife said, "excuse me?" To which he replied, "I said you can't read the damn sigh that says wait to be seated!" I said, "Don't talk to us like that." He said, "or what?!" The next thing I know I am in a verbal confrontation with this guy in the middle of the restaurant. I understand it's hard to find help right now but I couldn't imagine this guy representing my establishment. He should be fired! I wish I could give less than a 1 star review. needless to say I will never go there again. I have emailed management and will leave a follow up review as to how they handle the matter. read more

Good spot on the Ohio River. We had a dog with us so we were able to sit on the outdoor patio and enjoy our food. Salmon cakes were delicious and big. BLT was also very good with a lot of well cooked bacon on it. Sweet potato fries and regular fries came out hot and crispy. The waitress even got us a bowl of water for our dog which was nice. Only reason for 4/5 stars is the do not serve alcohol at the moment due to losing their liquor license according to our waitress. Service was great and fast. read more

I've been stewing on this a few days now and after careful consideration I decided to finally write my take on Boomtown. Upon arrival we noticed it was pretty much wide open inside. There might have been 3 to possibly 4 others in the entire restaurant. We did happen to get there around 8:30 or 9 so I get that it wasn't early, however it's not like it was super late either. We were seated and enjoying our date night with friends and much needed adult time. Each couple ordered appetizers to share and adult beverages. So it begins....... Shawn and Mark both order a beer. Shelly orders a Big Red and I thought I'd have a glass of wine, boy was I wrong. I first ordered a simple Pinot Grigio. Nope. So I tried ordering something else that was a hard NO again. I thought about for a while and decided on a cocktail. Well that was a big failure. It seems as though everything I'd ordered they were either out of or didn't have one or more ingredient. Finally the waiter suggested a margarita that was supposed to be the bartenders spectacular drink of choice. Well I wouldn't of chosen it! Just sayin...... So we ordered our food and waited what felt like a lifetime................................... ................. yes this is my life time............... so our food came out. To my surprise I rather enjoyed it. I was shockingly impressed. I ordered the Cajun chops with green beans and loaded baked potato. This was the perfect combination of spice. It was moist and delicious. The green beans were perfect, they reminded me of country cooking. You just never know what you're going to get when you wait in a smaller town. I believe once they have gotten themselves a little more organized and open a few months things will run much smoother.
