Third stop on out Burgers on the Bricks tour. Love the building! Great atmosphere. We had the Smashburger with a side of Crispy Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were crispy with bacon and a sweet maple glaze! All very tasty.

Huge restaurant bar in downtown entertainment area of New Albany. Repurposed stable and more through the years. Noise kept to minimum. Service was accommodating, helpful. Nice menu of shareables, wings, and entrees appealing, upscale pub grub. Great cocktail, wine alcohol menu with beer specials posted. Nice spot downtown!

Casual Neighborhood Gastropub [New Albany IN] The Exchange is located in a prime location on Main Street in New Albany IN. After checking in our hotel we asked the hotel staff for restaurant recos and they suggested The Exchange. We parked in the small parking lot in the backlot. Space is limited but there is also street parking. First of all I absolutely appreciate the architectural design of this historic building. The building was originally Shraders Stable and Livery built in 1875, then became a poultry company in the 1930's, then a tire warehouse in the 1980's. There are indoor seating as well as outdoor patio seating... and high top tables in between where the bar is located. This was where we sat, open air under a roof. The menu was small but it had a lot of good options. I ordered the PORK CHOP (braised greens, herb fingerling potatoes, cherry bacon chutney) and hubby chose the NASHVILLE HOT CHICKEN (fried chicken breast, creamy slaw, smoked gouda mac & cheese, habagardil pickles). I enjoyed the pork chop's tender and flavorful meat. Our waitress was Genin, very sweet and friendly. Great customer service. Pleasant dining experience. Review #3874

Awesome wings! Some kind of Japanese sauce that has a little kick! Not teriyaki. Meatball & Pita bread were good, not great. Old Fashioned strong, mojito amazing, home-brewed brown beer good. Atmosphere and service great, until... Same stuff, different day. Charged double for Old Fashioned. I know the service industry and what some people do to pay rent. I had every intention of leaving a big tip, but this killed the vibe. When my mood turns, I go from happiest guy in world to 'no way back in.' I left $5 bill on $48 tip. I should have left zero. That's two nights in a row in this area with overcharge. There is no excuse for it. I wager this place has picked up thousands or tens of thousands in extra money per year due to overcharging. Great wings, good food, excellent atmosphere, but read that check!

Cool historical atmosphere in a former stable/livery. Great service and yummy food. Atmosphere was a bit on the loud side and add in a live music on a Saturday evening (while nice) made it rather a strain to converse with table-mates. I ordered their squash bisque soup and it was yummy as was the side dish of their veggie of the day--roasted cauliflower. My companions all selected the fried fish and fries and were equally pleased.

We went here on a busy Friday night. Our waitress was superb, friendly, attentive, and hilarious. There was live music that was really nice and the host even asked us how close we wanted to be to the music. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share among the 3 of us and every delicious bite got eaten. The Brussels were crispy and packed with flavor. The wings were a sweet and spicy treat I won't soon forget and the tots were a flavor explosion with sweet short ribs, spicy jalapeño, and savory cheese sauce. We ordered a few cocktails and the bourbon coffee one was my favorite and their beer list has a good selection. I plan to return to the Exchange for more of their awesome food

    Twice Cooked Wings

We were seated quickly on a Saturday which was great. My husband's steak frites were way under cooked (he asked for medium well) he normally doesn't say anything but this was too rare. It took quite a bit of time to come back & His first couple bites were cold. I got the wings & a wedge salad with ranch. I was not a fan of the wings. Almost a little rubbery in spots. My salad was great. Fresh clean lettuce & I loved the tomatoes. Their ranch had a good flavor, My father in law said the fish & chips had to be the best thing on the menu lol

We have been here a few times, but the last time we dined here made me want to post a review finally! We were seated in the bar area at a high top table so we had one of the bartenders as our waitress - I didn't catch her name, but she was such a delight. She was quick, attentive, and very friendly. Our drinks and food were out in a timely manner and everything we had was tasty! The only downside was that one person in our party ordered a medium rare steak and it came out well done unfortunately. We let our waitress know who let her manager know. He came over to our table and apologized immediately, offered to have a new steak prepared (our party member was okay eating the current steak), and comped their entire meal. We appreciated this very much and thought it was great customer service. We had their short rib tots for an appetizer which we really liked! They had onions on them and we thought having pickled onions on them would be even better. I had the fish and chips and I literally gasped when it came out because the fish filets were huge!! I could barely finish one of them. Overall great experience and we will continue to visit!

We visited the Exchange in the heart of New Albany's very vibrant area to meet up with friend/entertainer for the evening during the dinner service. Great food, atmosphere was fun and vibrant. Bar selection was top shelf and offered craft beers. Service was prompt friendly Smiling face. Drinks I will certainly recommend is the "Grocery" yes not a typo and it's delicious! As well as my Old Forester bourbon. We shared plates of the tastiest wings and pasta Voodoo, a dish I couldn't stop myself. Highly recommend Must visit day or night. Street and lot parking. Facilities very clean.

Unfortunately, we've tried the Exchange three different times and each time was a miss for us. On this final visit, our food came out cold, the buns weren't fresh, the sautéed onions on the burger were freezing and gelatinous, the chicken in the chicken sandwich tasted like a reheated chicken breast, & was rubbery from being overcooked, and the service was sub par. The manager did comp our meal, which we didn't ask for, but was nice; however, I just can't recommend The Exchange based on the three times we've tried it.

Returned here during Harvest Fest. Sat at the bar outside, listened to the live music. Ordered the fritters again, on point. Decided on the burger, asked for it medium. Amazing presentation with veggies on the side, unfortunately the burger was extremely dry, tough, and bland. My server was friendly.

The new owners did not fix one of the major drawbacks of the space, however, and it is just as loud as Toast was. Sound baffling would help, but it wouldn't have made my experience all that much better. We were seated at a table in the back. Despite our fairly early reservation, we were next to an 8-person table that, when filled, got noisy. The velvet cushioned seats were nice. Booths looked good as well. Lighting is low and intimate. Drinks were meh. I wasn't impressed. I tried two and both were single note without much sophistication. The menu looked interesting, but I wasn't impressed with the execution. My scallops had good flavor but were overcooked and very soft. The braised short rib was good but it sat on a bed of spaghetti that was cut up; like you would for a child. The service was hit and miss. At times, our server seemed to be actively ignoring us to the point where one of our quartet jokingly asked if one of us had dated them and it had ended badly. The Fair is expanding, which is great, and I wish them the best, but a rating of "fair" is about all I could give my visit.

The restaurant opens the side doors to let fresh air in on a sunny day which is amazing if you don't want to sweat in the sun but still want to feel a nice breeze. I love hot things and loved the heat - I can see where they could be considered pretty hot to some an the heat does build if you eat several in a row but again I love this flavor profile.
