While having dinner in New Albany, I looked to see what else was around, High Street Apothecary came up, and I'm glad it did. It's one of my favorite speakeasies I've ever visited. You need a reservation and you get a text when your table is ready. I won't spoil the surprise, but after entering and having a discussion, you enter the bar. It's really pretty and the ambience is awesome. They play jazz music, which I love. They have a great cocktail menu. I went with The Last Word, which was delicious. I only had time for one drink, which is too bad. But I had such a fun time. Service was excellent. I highly recommend High Street Apothecary in the area, and think it's worth the Uber if in Louisville.

The perfect spot for a late (or early) night drink in downtown New Albany. The speakeasy vibes are immaculate - from the chill jazz tunes to the perfectly curated cocktail menu. The staff is welcoming and willing to spend extra time to ensure your order is exactly right. Make sure you keep flipping through the menu for their daily cocktails!

We stopped in last night for the first time and it will definitely not be our last time!! We weren't sure how crowded it would be so we went ahead and made a reservation. We were there fairly early so I don't think we needed one, but I could see needing one later into the night. Reseevarions were easy to make online. We walked around back and were greeted by "the doctor". I won't spoil anything but as soon as you walk in you're in for a treat All the staff were very friendly, drinks were delicious, and the charcuterie board from Board and You really hit the spot! My favorite drink was the old fashioned. We sat ourselves at the bar and had a great conversation with the bartender and other folks who sat at the bar with us. We can't wait to go back and try some new cocktails out! They also have wine and mocktails.

I visited High Street Apothecary last night for the first time. I went with a friend for cocktails, and we both really enjoyed the visit. The location is super cute! It has a speakeasy vibe, but it's also very easy to find. Once you're inside the "doctor's office," you'll be met by a "doctor" in a medical office setting, before being taken through a hidden doorway into the actual bar area. It's all very cool! The bar itself has a very chill vibe, and the staff were awesome. Everyone was really nice. Plus, the drinks were great! The cocktail list all sounded delicious! I opted for the Rosemary's Baby and my friend had the All Dolled Up. I really liked hers, but I absolutely loved mine! It was so light and refreshing, definitely the perfect spring cocktail! If you're looking for a fun spot to have a drink (mocktails included), I definitely recommend High Street Apothecary!

Take a trip back in time and visit this *super cool* speakeasy. You enter through the back and go into a doctors room, then they take you through a hidden door and hallway to the speakeasy. Better check their website before going as it ended up getting very crowded and you have to make an appointment to see the doctor!

Really enjoyed this bar. A true speakeasy style bar. We had the pleasure of speaking with the owner Nick while there and they have some very exciting events coming up. The decor is true speakeasy era and the drink Nick made was not only delicious but aesthetically pleasing. Will definitely be returning.

We had reservations for early on a Thursday evening but was delayed. I easily cancelled once we realized we were not going to make it and was able to reschedule another time 45 minutes later. When you arrive at the front there are signs directing you to the back of the building. I was a little confused because there were signs up to scan a UR code to join the waitlist but no instructions for those with reservations (at least not that we saw). So I was about to scan the UR code to see if that gave any information and about that time the doctor opened the back door. We were welcomed into his office. I'll let you figure out first hand what happens in the doctor's office. Once we were in the speakeasy the doctor showed us around and seated us. The bar staff stopped by to greet us. We took some time to review the menu and we settled on Charlie & The Rye Distillery and the Sardonyx. Then the bar staff gave out free shots in a chocolate cup of a new pumpkin spice drink they are working on. It was so good! Then we got the French 75 and the Ward 8. The bar staff and doctor were going around checking on everyone. There was live music that just started as we were heading out. All of the drinks were good. We will definitely be back to try the charcuterie board from board and you. So 5 stars for friendly staff, good drinks, atmosphere, and unique experience.

Wow this speakeasy was really cool! I would definitely recommend coming to visit here. They do a wonderful job of making you feel like you're actually in a doctors office and the way they introduce you into the bar is pretty awesome! The drinks and appetizers were all really good and I loved the vibe. The bar was really neat too. All the cocktails had pretty clever names too. Definitely different, but very enjoyable.

This was an interesting experience with good and weird aspects. You can make a reservation online which might be smart on a weekend night. The entry is at the back of the building and you have to ring a doorbell. The doctor greets you in his office. I appreciate the dedication to the theme but the greeting COULD be briefer; it felt like we were talking to the doctor/getting an intro to the apothecary for almost 10 minutes (that may be an exaggeration but that's what it felt like). We were given a prescription based on our ailments and preferences and then seated. We did not see a cocktail menu at first (they had all been collected on other tables), so when the server asked if we were ordering our prescriptions we just said yes without knowing the options. Fortunately the drinks turned out good. It was jazz night and the musicians were talented at their instruments (they may want to stick to the instrumental version of songs). The vibe was very cool. Heads up that everything is somewhat small - small rooms, small tables, small bar. It fits the idea of a speakeasy but this isn't a space where you can mingle and you're unlikely to find a spot at the bar with its 6 or so seats. My husband is probably more apt to want to return than me, but I'd be open to it.

A great speakeasy experience! You enter through an old fashioned doctors office to receive your medicinal liquor prescription before proceeding to the bar. The "doctor" did a great job and it felt so personalized! Drinks were creative and delicious! We will definitely return!

The bartender was snarky, but it felt ironic and playful -- classic dive bar energy. No issues at all. I even suggested we return Monday night with coworkers. For context, multiple bartenders at the first bar we visited that evening warned us not to go to 3rd Street Dive due to past negative experiences. I brushed it off because my Sunday visit had been fun and I thought they just didn't like the dive bar vibe. Monday was a completely different story. The bartender was openly hostile from the start -- yelling and swearing at customers, aggressively confronting people for briefly being on their phones, and creating a tense, uncomfortable environment. Demanding no one stand at the bar while we were trying to pay our tab. The situation escalated when he intentionally and aggressively threw a drink on one of my coworkers. This was not an accidental spill in a packed bar. It was deliberate. At that point, it stopped being "dive bar attitude" and started feeling volatile and unsafe. There's a difference between edgy and unprofessional. Sunday felt edgy. Monday felt unpredictable and uncomfortable. Louisville has too many great spots to risk spending your evening somewhere that could escalate like that. I hope ownership takes a serious look at what's happening behind the bar. I won't be returning.

They had Nords Donuts for food for this event. Beer and Donuts? Very odd combination, was hoping for The Post Pizza or something that was real food. It was free so no complaints other than it was an odd combo. Note: they don't serve food at Nachbar. The inside is kinda dated and there is good seating. Bathrooms are set up like Mag Bar and Kerns Korner. IFYKYK. The outside is more spacious than the inside. They do have a nice patio. As for the inside it looks cool and they have plenty of board games and plenty of local beer on taps that you don't see at most bars. I wouldn't come here on a regular basis but, the local beer selection is a hit with me.
