Didn't quite know what to expect. Was looking for a local diner with typical local food. Vic's is the place. Old style diner with paneling and old school seating (booth style and a couple tables in the middle. Waitress was kind and friendly; low on staff but she did really good serving everyone. We were only people in dining room ( Is connected to a bar ) so again didn't know what to expect. Waitress took order coffee and basic breakfast; eggs ,toast, bacon and sausage; hash browns and American fried potatoes. Boom, people started coming in left and right. Some apparently were regulars were coming in; the waitress brought their drink without asking; the good ole days. It didn't take long and the room was 75% filled with combo of lunch and breakfast being served. Looks like a lot meet there just to hang out with each other. This isn't the Taj Mahal but it a best place to eat and great!

This is a bar that happens to serve food. That's important. In Indiana, smoking is permitted in bars. There are ashtrays on the tables here. The whole vibe is Boomer Grandpa. The menu consists of under-seasoned diner staples. The coffee is hot and cheap (no espresso, just plain old coffee, toots). A limited breakfast menu is offered after 11am (no pancakes, no sausage gravy). The prices are reasonable and the service is friendly and prompt. I'm not a fan of smelling like a dirty ashtray so this isn't for me but I can recognize the appeal of a gritty greasy spoon with a side of Budweiser. Three Stars for nostalgia.

When you walk in the restaurant side, the smell of an old bowling hits you.....and there's something immediately nostalgic about that. I swear the restaurant hasn't changed since 1969; the retro sconces, a doorbell at each table for service and the light switch panel that was originally a jukebox selection plate. It was my first time there but I received the history from the waitress who informed me she's worked there for 22 years! The restaurant is cozy, booths, a couple tables & socially distanced. There is a bar in an adjoining room. All the staff are fun & friendly. The menu is your typical small diner; burgers, breakfast, finger food, sandwiches & specials. I liked it. Breakfast was great! Cheap! Eggs & toast were good!! My friend had a burger & fries. She likes it; looked good. Try it out. I'll go back.

    Double cheeseburger with fried mushrooms

So this place was pretty good. There was only two reasons I don't give it a five number one no fountain service for drinks. I will not drink out of cans or bottles. The second issue I have is it is connected to the bar while no one was smoking in the room I was in it was still smoky from the room next-door. Now to the food, which was actually quite good, I was upset about to leave because it said fish was Friday only but they did still have some left here on Saturday and it was too very nice pieces of fish. They were very flaky had a lot of flesh to them and the batter I found at least above average. Very tasty , they gave me that with a bun the two sides were good as well. The green beans were well seasoned and nice. The mac & cheese was about as good as you can get without baking it you're throwing some actual physical cheese on top but you know that the sauce it was it was OK. It was pretty good above average.. she got a double cheeseburger. She said the patties were nice course ground very real on the top. We're good to one of the better tomatoes she had a long time. her fried mushrooms were good she enjoyed them. She also commented that the ranch they had to dip was clingy and thick, and it tasted good as well. Just learned one more downside they do not take cards or cash only which I really hate.

We are in town visiting our daughter and wanted to eat at a local restaurant. After reading some of the other yelp reviews, we had to check it out for ourselves. We were greeted warmly buy the bar tender and a couple patrons , who suggested we eat in the dining room. Our server suggested the specials which we got and enjoyed very much. This will be our go to place whenever we are in town.

We found this place while visiting the casino and it deserves all the hype!! We're alway looking for diners when we travel and this one has hit the top 5 of that list. The building is from the late 1800's and has been Vic's cafe since 1969!! The waitress is fixing to celebrate her 25th anniversary with Vic's an isn't that something and so is this place. Because you can smoke In there still ya have to be 21 and over to enter- to us empty nesters this is fine and the food is great!! It hit all my ol man's home runs, biscuits gravy, tater tots and canned Diet Coke - he hates fountain - the decor is still probably from who knows when and it's fantastic!! I can't hype this place up enough! The food was delicious and for 2 meals and drinks 25 bucks!!! I hope you enjoy the review as much as I have enjoyed this place - see ya later Vics -till next trip!!

We had Vic's today for bunch. It was very good and for the price it was excellent. I have to give back story before I rate this burger... its currently 502 buger week in my area. So the theme is burgers.. so needless to say.. i have had a few burgers this past week. Restaurants that know customers are coming in specifically for the burgers don't taste this good. I like a burger dressed, with sustainable veggies. Everything held up nicely and im a sauce person!! My mom had the southwest omelet. Not only was it stuffed, it came with hashbrowns, they remind me if the potato cakes at Arby's. And like 4 pieces of buttered toast *Sorry I didn't take a picture. All this plus 3 beers was like 24 bucks. Our lady cleaned and made us feel safe to eat in and was very friendly. I will definitely will revisit.

The bartender was snarky, but it felt ironic and playful -- classic dive bar energy. No issues at all. I even suggested we return Monday night with coworkers. For context, multiple bartenders at the first bar we visited that evening warned us not to go to 3rd Street Dive due to past negative experiences. I brushed it off because my Sunday visit had been fun and I thought they just didn't like the dive bar vibe. Monday was a completely different story. The bartender was openly hostile from the start -- yelling and swearing at customers, aggressively confronting people for briefly being on their phones, and creating a tense, uncomfortable environment. Demanding no one stand at the bar while we were trying to pay our tab. The situation escalated when he intentionally and aggressively threw a drink on one of my coworkers. This was not an accidental spill in a packed bar. It was deliberate. At that point, it stopped being "dive bar attitude" and started feeling volatile and unsafe. There's a difference between edgy and unprofessional. Sunday felt edgy. Monday felt unpredictable and uncomfortable. Louisville has too many great spots to risk spending your evening somewhere that could escalate like that. I hope ownership takes a serious look at what's happening behind the bar. I won't be returning.

They had Nords Donuts for food for this event. Beer and Donuts? Very odd combination, was hoping for The Post Pizza or something that was real food. It was free so no complaints other than it was an odd combo. Note: they don't serve food at Nachbar. The inside is kinda dated and there is good seating. Bathrooms are set up like Mag Bar and Kerns Korner. IFYKYK. The outside is more spacious than the inside. They do have a nice patio. As for the inside it looks cool and they have plenty of board games and plenty of local beer on taps that you don't see at most bars. I wouldn't come here on a regular basis but, the local beer selection is a hit with me.
