Regular Coffee

El Mananero offers sweet and savory breakfast options, plus sides and seasonal options. Check out their menu online to help narrow down your selection. New to the menu are the tres leches pancakes, topped with fresh fruit and whipped cream. You get three pancakes. They were fluffy and the fruit was delicious. The cinnamon coffee was nice! It was overly sweet and I was excited to have a carafe to enjoy and refill my mug. The Concha Rellena wasn't my favorite. The pastry is thick and dry and a bit overpowering with Nutella. My son's club sandwich looked good, especially the thick bacon. It came with a side of potatoes. My husband ordered the chilaquiles mananero. Overall, a savory dish, but liking the chorizo is key because it's a major part of the dish. For me, it's overpowering which eliminates half of the menu for me. The restaurant offers quite a bit of seating. Our server was friendly and attentive. The private parking lot had plenty of spaces.

I ordered food for delivery and when one item was missing, I suddenly received a call from a staff member at the restaurant. She was on it! I never have received a call when something is missing from the actual restaurant! She offered to drop it off or come in the next week to re-order the item. Unfortunately my schedule didn't allow me to come in (they close at 2pm!) So I am desperate to go back and try the French Toast Concha. That being said, the chilaquiles with egg on top? So yummy! And legit heat on it! The flavor was rich and spicy and just so delicious. Cannot wait to try more.

BEST MEXICAN BREAKFAST SPOT This restaurant will have a cult following soon. It's just amazing. The food is incredibly delicious and it feels like you're eating at a Michelin 5 Star. The service is top notch and the atmosphere is cozy. The restaurant is new and has been remolded. Try the Mexican coffee and finish your meal with the churros.

Stopped by for Sunday brunch. We were able to get a table pretty quickly despite arriving during peak brunch time. We ordered a the chorizo biscuits and gravy which were a fun twist on a classic. The service was great and the staff was all incredibly friendly. Next time I definitely want to check out one of the sweet offerings. They looked like a great indulgent treat!

The place is very clean and the service was excellent. We had the pancakes and French toast. I also had the hot chocolate. The food was delicious. I didn't care for the hot chocolate. I think it had cinnamon in it. There is plenty of parking in the back.

Be sure to double check what you are being charged when you get your check. When we first dined here, we weren't told they charge an upcharge of 3.99% for using a credit card. I paid it and let it go. However, we returned this past week with CASH so we wouldn't have to pay the upcharge. Our server asked if we would be paying with cash or card. We told her cash. We paid our check and I stuffed the receipt in my pocket. When I got home I pulled the receipt out and looked at it. The 3.99% upcharge had been added eventhough I paid with cash. This whole upcharge scam being employed by more and more restaurants is bad enough. But when you pay cash and it's still added is downright unethical. Once I realized what had happened, I called the phone number on my receipt. The person that answered identified himself as Noe the owner. I explained what had happened and he said he would make it right. I'm supposed to bring the check back in and they will refund the the charge. I did have a fairly large check so it's more than a few cents. Noe blamed Clover, the name of his credit card processor. I thought to myself, I didn't use a credit card??? Noe mentioned he also charges the upcharge at his other restraurant Hoopsters in Jeff. I told him that yes, we had eaten there also and was not told about the upcharge until my card had been charged. I also told him I have a problem with these upcharges when there are no signs stating the upcharge anywhere on the premises and the server doesn't mention it when you hand them your card. Noe said Hoopsters has new menus and it's now stated on the menu. He actually said it's now in small print at the bottom of Hoopster's menu. Unfortunately, we really like the food at El Mananero, but I will not tolerate these 'gotcha' tactics so many of these restaurants now employ. It's their loss as we and our friends eat out numerous times every week. Any restaurant that employs upcharges should make it known either by signage or prominently displayed on the menu. PERIOD!

Stopped in El Mananero to group some breakfast since I was running early. The staff was very friendly and the place was very clean. I ordered the Burrito mananero to go. It was Avery good size and flavorful. Will try the restaurant again.

Great place for breakfast - outstanding service - food nearly as good - Mexican themed with a few American choices - certainly worth a try.

I wish I could join the chorus of 4 and 5 star reviews. Looking for a restaurant with atmosphere?…read more You won't find it here. My first warning was the decrepit sign over the door in a dilapidated strip center. But, as the saying goes, "don't judge a book by its cover." The food was good. Not great. My usual order is fajitas, this time a chicken, steak, and chicken combo. The plate was served sizzling. Served with 3 small tortillas and the usual fixin's. El Mexicano doesn't serve any beans other than refried, so, no option for black beans, pinto or borracho. The shrimp in the dish were perfect, the chicken was dried out and there were about 6 little strips of steak. The grilled onions and peppers were very good. My wife's shrimp dish was very salty. She prefers the interpretation of Shrimp Mexicana at others Mexican restaurants. And for good measure, because we asked for some lime to squeeze on the shrimp and they tacked on $2 to the bill. But what really resulted in my barely average review was the cleanliness of El Mexicano; or rather, the lack of it. You'll notice a yellow bucket that hangs on the wall in the dining room, yes, in full sight of diners. I witnessed a server drop something on the floor, grab a cloth from the bucket and clean the floor. Then, she returned the cleaning cloth to the bucket. Moments later, another server used the same cloth to clean tables! The health department would have a hissy fit if they saw this. Worse, when I mentioned this to the manager, he was indifferent. I know he understood me, he just didn't care. If the manager is so indifferent to such an obvious health hazard, I can't fathom what goes on in the kitchen. El Mexicano is a "one and done" for us.

But I felt La Lupita had slipped a bit. Initial service was excellent, we were greeted and seated promptly. Drinks were served and our order was taken. But once the food was brought to the table, our server was nowhere to be found. Refill for ice tea? Nope. We ordered one set of corn and one set of flour tortillas and got two orders of corn. It took us quite a while to find the server to get the error corrected. The complementary chips and salsa were way off. The chips were stale and they switched to a green salsa. Admittedly, a personal preference, but I liked the red better. My wife enjoyed her usual- camarones Mexicano. Served sizzling and perfectly done. I don't recall the mixed fajitas (my usual) as being so greasy. Again, served hot. Lots of peppers, onions, & grilled tomatoes. No jalapeños. I could have asked for some as a side and I'm sure they would accommodate. I also found it odd that La Lupita doesn't offer any beans other than refried. We asked for black beans or pinto or borracho. They're not offered. Yet they were able to serve refried black beans instead of the usual borracho or pinto refried version. Prices, inevitably, were up since our last visit. La Lupita is still a favorite for authentic Mexican food. We just caught them on an off day and it was still way ahead of most Mexican restaurants.

They start you with these funky fried crisps. No salsa or pico-but on the bright side you don't fill up with chips. Good thing, because the portions are ginormous! It's rare I can't finish a meal, but my shredded beef with mole was more than enough for a takeout box. I ordered the platter, so my meal came with rice and refried beans. We had the leftovers for lunch the following day. My wife ordered two alacart items. Shrimp cerviche and a chicken taco. Both well prepared. And as a side bonus, the tortillas were outstanding. I'm not a fan of corn tortillas, but these home made gems had flavor and didn't fall apart like packaged ones. Same with the crispy corn shells for the tostada. Great crunch and real flavor. Beer was served cold along with a frosted mug and a slice of lime. Everything is made to order. One fella was the chief, cook & bottle washer. And waiter. He speaks English when he sees you struggling with the menu. He made us feel very welcome. This is a down to earth diner that hasn't seen any updating since day one, but the food is excellent, the restrooms are clean and the service was perfectomundo.

I was able to explore the menu but I knew I had walked in for a ceviche. Glad waitress clarified the typo on large shrimp ceviche's price, which immediately translated to honesty. Thei give you a complimentary savory broth with hints of seafood flavor and potatoes which is a welcoming opening. The flavor was excellent the tostadas are like home made non commercial, loved them. Their give you fresh lime or already squeezed natural lime juice. I had a campechano (mixed) taco and a pastor taco. Which they have for .99 on Tuesdays so I will be a regular on Tuesdays too. There is parking on the front and on one of the sides of the place. The team was quick with food, attentive to all needs and very professional and friendly. And the price value is amazing. There are many items I still have to try but it is in my top 3 list for Mexican food in Kentuckiana!

I'm sitting here scratching my head as why because at best, this is a 3-star place and barely at that. The food was okay but nothing to write home about. I've had much better Mexican food at other places. I ordered the Chori Pollo which is chorizo on top of grilled chicken with cheese and white rice. My order was taken down wrong and I ended being given something entirely different. They did end up making it correct for me. The horchata I ordered was really good and one of the better ones I've had from a place. My server was nice despite taking down my order entirely wrong. The interior is nice. It the music is absolutely too loud and constantly playing so you may need to talk a bit louder than usual if you want to have a conversation with anyone dining with you. I can't see myself returning to this establishment and one that I wouldn't recommend. I had to fight with flies the entire time I was dining which added to the rather displeasing time I was here. The prices for the food isn't too terrible and pretty standard if you've been to most other Mexican restaurants that have a similar menu. Do yourself a favor and find another, much better place for Mexican food than here.
