We visited on Friday night and were surprised it wasn't packed based on the reviews I've read but I think it helped that it was the day before the 4th. We got there around 7 and were able to get a spot at the bar, the only down fall it was on the back side behind the Margarita machines which put us out of eyesight of the staff which I was worried about. We were however greeted almost immediately after sitting down and put in our drink order, 2 swirl margaritas. The menu read as Lime-Orange, Pineapple Margarita with House Red Sangria, so we thought we could choose our flavor to accompany the Sangria but were pleasantly surprised it included all 3. It was definitely more of a pineapple delight to me than a margarita however I wasn't mad about it. It was almost like a nice tropical drink while being on vacation. For appetizers we started with the empanadas. The menu says Best in Town and let me tell you, they did not disappoint!!!! Hands down the best empanadas I've ever had, like I am already dreaming of going back for more. You get two per order with your choice of beef, chicken , veggies, ham and cheese , ricotta with spinach and they are served with cilantro and garlic Aioli. I was able to get one chicken and one beef, and both where phenomenal however I would get the beef time and time again. For dinner my husband got the Grilled Picanha and fries which was cooked perfectly and one of the best steaks I've had out in quite some time. I got the Pabellon Criollo, which is a Venezuelan National Dish with white rice, black beans, shredded beef (flank steak 8 OZ) and sweet plantains. It was also really good, the beans had amazing flavor and the plantains were perfect (I don't like them too mushy, I love them thinner with crispy edges) Them menu description said it's beef, flank steak) but it looked and tasted like pork. Either way it was still delicious just not entirely what I was expecting. I definitely can't wait to go back for more empanadas and to try other things however it will be in the cooler months. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because of the opened garage doors. It was an incredibly hot day and even though we were inside at the bar we essentially sat "outside" bc there were several garage doors that were opened. It was hot and muggy, and tons of flies were flying around us and out food. Even the wait staff seemed to be hot and miserable which I know is not fun. There was another side to the restaurant but it was hard to see from the bar so I am not sure if there was additional seating we could have chosen. read more

Attentive staff, comfortable atmosphere, good food! There is indoor and outdoor seating - the sides of the building open up to the patio when it's nice out so even the inside seats feel patio weather. We only did apps for our meal. Sharing the small sampler, we got a chicken & beef empanada. The aiolis that come with it are so good - we almost asked for more. 10/10 on the fried plantains. We also shared the choripan which is an open faced bread with melted cheese, sliced chorizo & chimichurri ontop. Great app for 4-6 people. Can't wait to come back to try more on the menu. read more

I visited with friends on. Wednesday evening for an early dinner. Sadly, no happy hour, and while we had made a reservation the space was fairly empty and not needed. I ordered the lettuce wraps with chicken, no red onion, and these were a great choice. My friends split a set with pork and also gave them great reviews. The tostones were fine, but nothing I'd craved later, even with the dipping sauce. For my cocktail I chose the smoked old fashioned. I was happy it wasn't too sweet since maple was listed in the description. The presentation was as fancy - a large dome filled with smoke and opened at the table. Saying all of that - it was INCREDIBLY small for the price paid. Disappointing. Service was stellar. Ambiance is upscale casual. I've been told during crowded evenings that the space is overwhelmingly loud with bad acoustics. Alchemy is not quite a 4 star based on the higher prices and/or portions, making it hard for me to recommend coming back soon. read more

Meh...it was ok...I won't run back..maybe a veey spow walk for the beef empanadas. Whike the steak was well seasoned the chicken in the empanada and the chicken with the mushroom sauce tasted like NOTHING. I was introduced to this restaurant through its TikTok videos and I'm so glad that I found it because it was so good! The ambiance is cozy yet upscale and we were able to get seating for 2 without a wait on a cold Friday evening. I had the red sangria which was fruity and delicious. For an appetizer, my fiance and I had the beef empanadas and the menu didn't lie--it was the best in town. The two dipping sauces were perfect. Both of us had ribeye steaks which were expertly seasoned and cooked. I had the cheese grits and they were melt in your mouth delicious. Tasty! They lost my reservation...but it wasn't too busy despite it being a Friday night and they were able to seat us at the time we got there. We were a group of 5 ladies getting ready for a bachelorette weekend. We got a pitcher of margarita to share and the appetizer platter for nibbling on. The drink was good and the food was tasty. My mom and I adored our dinner at Alchemy! The food was incredible- our two favorite dishes were the Choridam (like a glorified open faced steak sandwich with the best steak, chimichurri sauce and homemade bread ever) and the pork belly bites also with the chimichurri. The choridam is an app but I could eat it as my entree. It's huge. We loved the chimichurri so much that we bought a container of it to take home. The lettuce wraps were good, but needed a sauce with them to round out the flavors. My mom also got a delicious lemon drop martini that was super smooth and not too sweet. The restaurant is super cute with wine along the walls and a sliding ladder. Latin fusion vibes for sure. We had a great server, Solangel. I highly recommend this spot for a date night or a fun girls night. Five stars! read more

She had her eyes rolling while eating it - said it was so flavorful and she loved the fried cheese all on its on but I'm guessing it was wonderful as she didn't really talk much just ate lol I ordered the grilled Picanha steak... with fries. This place is conveniently located in the center of Norton Commons with parking nearby. We made a reservation and the place was packed on a Friday night. The inside was cute and there is also outdoor seating. We got the garlic shrimp and garlic bread; the shrimp was a bit salty but the bread was just right. Our daughter got the spaghetti bolognese, which was average as you'd expect for a kid's menu item, while we got the Caesar salad and the picanha with fries. The steak was perfectly cooked with such a nice char and the fries were also perfect. The Caesar was one of the best I've had despite coming out on a romaine leaf that you had to cut up. I ordered the ribeye steak and it was extremely fatty. More the. A typical ribeye would be. I asked for it medium and in some parts of the steak it was raw. I was told before I ordered it that there ribeyes and fairly lean cuts but that's as obviously a lie. I would be afraid to order the filet for the simple fact that it would be cooked to the right temperature of medium or medium rare like I ask. Especially since it's a thicker cut. Our server was extremely pushy on wanting us to add food and drinks to our bill. I thought it was very odd until I saw the check. The check automatically adds 20 percent gratuity to it. I've been wanting to check out the brick and mortar Alchemy restaurant for a while now. I first had it when I went to a concert at Norton Commons when they had their food truck. We went to alchemy and I was not disappointed. The staff was very friendly and the food was extraordinary. The location is very big and they had decorated for the holidays. The night we went wasn't very busy and I was thankful for that. I got to speak to the staff with my rudimentary Spanish and we talked about the food and traveling. Typical Friday nights find my wife and I trying to decide if we are having leftovers from the week's previous meals, whether we are going out, picking up, or having something delivered. Whatever we decide comes with secondary decisions, where, what, when, cuisine, etc.... We finally decided that we wanted to go out so now starts the second round of negotiations, where will we go? This particular Friday was no different, except my wife had thrown in one more caveat to the equation, she wanted outside seating. After working through the usual places we go, my wife came upon Alchemy Restaurant. It sounded good to me, so we made the short 10 min drive from the house and found street parking in front of the restaurant. We walked in, located the reception desk, told them we would like a table for 2 outside and we were quickly escorted to our table on the sidewalk. It seems that smoked cocktails have become my thing, so once again I ordered the Black Walnut Smoked Old Fashion while my wife chose the Raspberry Manhattan. While we waited for our drink order, we scanned the menu and decided on the small Alchemy sampler as our appetizer. We traded our appetizer order for our cocktails. Both drinks were very favorable. All the items available on the platter were very tasty. I really enjoyed the Empanadas, I might add. For our main course, my Wife selected the Caesar salad with grilled chicken, I selected the Pabellon Criollo. The entrees were as good as the appetizer. The shredded flank steak that was served with my Pabellon Criollo was so good I added some rice to absorb the last of the juices left over from the flank steak. And the service, as good as our food. We had the pleasure of Caesar being our server for the evening. He did a fantastic job. Looking forward to returning. read more

I was incredibly loud with obnoxious singer running around with a tuba. Then someone came in for a birthday and it was more annoying singing than being at a kids birthday at Red Robin. The pork was so dry it was inedible. Owner should really think about converting the establishment into a sports bar with pool tables, bar food etc. the layout is perfect for that and it needs to be completely rebranded. Never anyone in there on a regular basis. Only dinner doesn't make a fine establishment. I had been pestering my husband to go to Alchemy since they opened at Norton Commons. I liked their booth at the mall, which I visited during a Yelp event, and really liked it. We finally made a reservation for our 36th wedding anniversary. While my dish was 4-star worthy, my husband's dish, my margarita, and dessert were a huge disappointment. We started by ordering a Passion Fruit Margarita for me and a beer for my husband. My margarita was lacking tequila and it was like a big frozen passion fruit juice, good, but not a drink. I ordered Chicken Empanadas, because I've had their beef empanadas, and they were lacking flavor. Let's face it, I make the best beef empanadas. Well, they brought us beef empanadas. The waiter just said "Oh?" surprised, but didn't try to make it right. I ordered the Pasta Fideua Mariscos, seafood linguini cooked al dente, with shrimp, cod, calamari and mussels. This dish was scrumptious, with a good amount of seafood, delicious tomato sauce and garlic bread. One of the mussels had a broken shell and another one was barely open. I put those to the side and really enjoyed the rest. My husband's dish was a huge disappointment. I told him to order a different thing, but he got the Roast Beef Asado. When it came, the "roast" looked like a TV dinner portion of meatloaf covered in a dark gravy. I kid you not, it was less than 1/2" thick and about 4" round. It was served with a large mound of white rice and a side of maduros. The latter was the only thing worth eating. I would take that off the menu. My husband kept telling me, "you know, Costco is still open." So, since it was our anniversary, which by the way, nobody acknowledged, we asked to hear the dessert menu. I remembered trying a delicious bourbon pecan cheesecake at the mall, and was hoping they had it. The waiter, read us the options, and nothing sounded good. Then the waiter mentioned something about orange cheesecake. Well, the orange was a small slice of Pumpkin Spice cheesecake that was hard, not creamy at all, and lacked pumpkin flavor. I was do disappointed, that when the owner/chef came by and asked how was everything, I only said, "OK". Now, if I was the owner, and someone said just ok, I would have asked if I would elaborate. But he said, OK? I said, yes Ok, and he walked away. Also, the reservation said it was our anniversary. I witnessed a conversation about the wife and the hostess where the hostess pointed at us. The wife shrugged her shoulders and walked away. My last observation is that if you are looking for a romantic dinner, this is not the place to go. It is bright, and so loud, that my husband had to sit next to me mid-dinner, so we could hear each other. Would I come back, probably, but it would take some convincing my husband. Again, my Seafood Pasta was first class! read more
