    Salmon Champagne and Linguine Polpette
    Cathy F.

Everything was perfect! The dining room is so elegant and cozy. We made a reservation and were seated right away. All of the staff were so professional and friendly. We enjoyed a bottle of red wine that was fabulous. For dinner we got the Salmon Champagne and the Linguine with meatballs. Everything tasted great!

Dropped food by my chair. The waiters cleaned up about 3/4 of it and left the rest. Yuck.

This was our first experience at Vincenzo's and it was disastrous. It was a prix fixe meal at $200 pp. We ordered ahead of time. The waiters were perhaps temporary help since this is Derby week. They were very disengaged, they delivered the wrong dishes, the beef was medium rare to rare (we were not asked how we wanted it cooked), the second drink I ordered never arrived. We were not asked if we wanted tea or coffee with dessert and my plate of food was dropped on the floor. The waiter picked up some but not all of the food on the floor. We threw a napkin on top of it to cover up the mess. What a debacle. To add insult to injury they tacked on a 25% mandatory tip for possibly the worst restaurant service we've ever experienced. I would avoid this place at all costs.

We had a fantastic experience at Vincenzo's! Our group of 12 was handled seamlessly by the staff -- they were incredibly kind, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The space was clean, nicely set up, and quiet, which made it perfect for our team gathering. I had the ravioli mascarpone, and it was absolutely delicious -- rich in flavor and just the right portion. Great service from start to finish. We'll definitely be back! * P.S make sure to try their Tiramisu. One of the best I've ever had!

A Louisville institution for many years...maybe a hair below the pre-eminent status it once held, as I see reflected in some reviews, but still a splendid option for a classic night out (or a somewhat hidden gem of a spot for a business lunch). Vincenzo's is Italian fine dining, pure and simple. Excellent pastas, veal, chicken, all the classic dishes. Tortellini Buddeke is a dish that one can never go wrong with. The Crepes Agostino are magical. And while I don't know if there's a particular prompt to cause it, they do tableside prep at times that provides a delightful mini-show with the meal. Quality wine list, cocktails are good but not their best offering (they do have a good overall alcohol selection). Elegant space, and the service is what sets this place apart. The staff is welcoming, efficient, a brilliantly balanced in their attentiveness. And Vincenzo still makes the rounds as he has for as long as I can remember (probably since they opened), which is always a welcome touch.

I went on Saturday evening with my mom and my aunt for a celebratory birthday dinner. Everything from beginning to end was excellent. We were greeted warmly and taken right to our table. Throughout the meal we had top notch service, great recommendations from our server for my aunt who is gluten-free, our water were never less than half full, and the meal was paced well. Our server was attentive without hovering. Before our meal, we tried the espresso martinis and they were excellent. I started with a half Caesar which was really good and for dinnerI had a filet which was excellent and cooked a perfect medium rare. And finished with a delicious Belgian white chocolate cheesecake. The chef even wrote Happy Birthday on it and the server lit a candle for me. It was an unexpected touch that put a big smile on my face. At the table next to us an older couple was celebrating a birthday. Their server was taking their picture for them, laughing with them and clearly making their night special too. Great experience all around, highly recommend.

We've been here for my birthday and for a special date night and have been pleasantly surprised both times! What an elevated experience. We felt so special. The fettuccine Alfredo was incredible and they warm the dish right in front of you for the freshest meal. Both servers we've had were helpful, kind, and fun!

Hello! Can anyone give me an idea of the general prices of the menu items? Trying to pick a restaurant for an anniversary dinner and interested to see more details? (Interested in how much something like the fetuccine patricia would be)

Yes, 30-40 per person average, so with wine and salad, you will be around $120-$150 for a couple. I highly recommend the tortellini and tiramisu! Also someone mentioned Groupon, and they're running one now. Make sure you have a reservation!

They offer valet parking for $14, but street parking was easy to find and just a short walk away. We started with the Caesar salad and the wedge salad. Both were good, although the wedge had a bit too much dressing for my taste. I ordered the filet with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and mushrooms. The filet was excellent, and while I'm not usually a mushroom person, these were truly outstanding. The bread was also some of the best I've ever had. I also ordered one of the mocktails, which I enjoyed because it wasn't overly sweet. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the service. Our waiter was efficient, but he wasn't particularly friendly, and the entire meal felt rushed. Several times, someone tried to clear my plate while I was still eating. We also had to ask for more time more than once before ordering because we felt pressured to make decisions quickly. With a bill of over $300, I expected a more relaxed dining experience where we could enjoy the evening at our own pace.

Dinner: they were super accommodating, as we were traveling with a friend with an infant. I called ahead to let them know we would come in with a stroller, and they made sure to sit us in an area where the stroller was not in the way of servers or other guests. Our server was one of the most attentive people I have ever met, and every recommendation they gave was fantastic. We started with the oyster rockefellar and the spicy tuna tartare. The oysters were massive and the tuna dish was so good, we got it a second time later in the weekend. We all got steaks for our mains and added a lobster tail - there was a mix up with the lobster tail taking a bit and they ended up bringing out the largest lobster tail to make up for it. All steaks, their sides, and sauces were fantastic- better than most I have had in the DC area. The food was all rich so under order or share amongst friends. Cocktails were of course fantastic, from espresso martinis to the famous smoked old fashions. We had drinks at the bar another night and the service was just as good, though they did tell us that they didn't serve the drink in a smoke box when we certainly had one just a night before.

Four of us had an excellent experience for our dinner in Louisville, and besides the food, a lot of that experience was due to our server, Julie. She was great, super friendly and professional, and expertly answered a ton of Bourbon-related questions from my Bourbon loving friend. My wife and I dove into the Southern theme and had a Pulled Pork Sandwich ($16), Southern Colada ($16), Fried Green Tomatoes ($10), and a Southern Gumbo ($10) for dinner. I ordered the Fried Gren Tomatoes to share with the table, and they were wonderful - "Five full moon green tomatoes fried in cornmeal and panko, topped with fresh chives and served with Doc's Remoulade". They were light as a feather, most definitely non-greasy and had a great crunch from the panko and cornmeal. My Southern Gumbo (A hearty stew filled with andouille sausage, chicken and vegetables in savory Cajun broth served over rice. Served with cornbread) was excellent. Great flavor, great spice, plenty of sausage and chicken, and excellent accompaniments in the rice and cornbread. And how could I not mention my Southern Colada, with Michter's US*1 Sour Mash, Pineapple Juice & Coconut. It was quite a bit stronger than any Colada I ever had, but I guess that can be expected when you use an 86-proof small batch Kentucky whiskey in your Colada. Of course, I loved it. This was our second visit to Doc Crow. We were there a few days ago as the first stop on our Louisville food tour and enjoyed a delicious bowl of shrimp and grits. The Doc sure treated us well. I don't know if this is a thing they do at Doc Crow's, but in my opinion the bartender excessively kept asking me what I wanted even while I was still looking at the menu. This definitely frustrated me since it was clear that I wasn't ready yet. I think she should have done a better job reading my cues to figure out when I am ready to order.

But I believe they were sincere when they said they took my comments seriously and will look into the problems i noted. Original review below. Such a disappointment in so many ways. It started off nicely enough as I arrived for my reservation. I was given a choice of seating preferences (bar vs table) and my window-side table had a nice view outside and of the beautifully appointed room. Unfortunately things went downhill from there. I started with a drink and an appetizer as I considered the entree options. Prosciutto Montaditos: "toast topped with spreadable cheese and house-cured ham, drizzled with honey. The toast wasn't. It more resembled stale bread that was heated too long in a toaster oven: so dry it shattered into crumbs when I bit into it, with no browning on the outside and devoid of any flavor. The cheese, which might have been chèvre, was fine, but there was way too much of it. There was so little prosciutto (one thin slice per toast piece) that it could hardly be detected on its own and when I tried a small piece by itself I honestly couldn't tell the difference between this and something I'd buy at the grocery. But Cured specializes in house-cured meats so I expected to be wowed. As well, the honey drizzle was insufficient. When my waiter returned, not commenting on the mess of crumbs all over the table I made from attempting to eat this, and the substantial uneaten portions of bread and cheese, I placed my entree order. Knowing that the steaks here are a la carte, and sides are typically ordered separately (and the sides offered are very few) I inquired about the Rabo De Toro (oxtail, bell peppers, onions, garlic, carrots slow cooked with tomato paste and red wine), asking if it is a stew, like other oxtail preparations I have had. His answer was vague but he seemed to be saying yes. I ordered that. Entree arrived while I was still working on my appetizer, mid-chew with toast in hand. I had to scramble to make room for him to put it on my small table. Poor timing; a big no-no in a high end restaurant. It wasn't a stew. It was basically two chunks of meat on the plate, with a sauce on the side. It was tasty to be sure, and cooked expertly, but without any substantial vegetables (they were cooked down and used as a mirepoix to flavor the sauce) this disappeared quickly and left me wondering why I ordered it. The wording on the menu was so misleading, being more of a recipe than a description. And what's with the large flower on the plate? Edible flowers such as nasturtiums are welcome but this was something else so I asked Chatgpt which thinks it is a "purple orchid, most likely a Dendrobium, commonly used as an edible-looking but typically garnish-only on restaurant plates." So it may or may not be edible but it certainly wasn't appealing. Inedible or inappropriate garnishes have no business being on a food plate. I was drinking lightly that night so I kept it to one Aperol Spritz. It was good but why the tiny straw that didn't even reach the bottom of the glass? When the level got low and I could no longer use the straw I couldn't drink it without spilling ice and drink on myself given the rounded shape of the stem glass. When the waiter came back after I finished (the only time he did so) he asked how things were. "Well, since you asked," I began, calmly and clearly telling him of the many ways I was disappointed. He listened but didn't ask any followup questions, nor offered to pass on the feedback. All he did was apologize for my experience. Which was nice but woefully insufficient given the level of my dissatisfaction that I made clear. When he then asked if I wanted dessert I had to suppress a laugh! I wasn't going to take a chance of anything else going wrong. Even if was comped (which would be the courteous and appropriate thing to do in this situation but certainly not expected or required) I would have passed on it. He then returned with my check. Could things get any worse? Apparently they could. After a momentary shock looking at the huge number I quickly realized he gave me the wrong check! Easily straightened out as I looked around and saw another dining party also looking confused. As we exchanged checks between us I inquired how their meal went. Apparently they were satisfied. I'm happy for them. Mistakes happen and no big deal, but it was a darkly comical way to add insult to this highly disappointing experience. Before I left I stopped at the front to talk to the host, a young man. I again calmly explained my disappointment and asked that he pass on the feedback. He wouldn't even make eye contact, just sullenly looked down and muttered some sort of apology and assured me that he would pass it on. I doubt that he did. As I left he wished me, "Have a nice day," the sarcasm and derision inescapable. I wished him the same.

Upstairs, we had amazing service also. I ordered a cocktail that they had on the downstairs menu, and not the regular menu. It did not faze our server. He said he would figure it out- and he did! After a round of drinks, we stayed with appetizers: meatballs, fritto misto, piatto di frutti di mare and the crab cake. Everything was devoured. I loved the crab cake and the meatballs. The fried calamari was pretty standard and the cold seafood platter was fine- I had an oyster off of it. For dinner, I had the "Pappardelle" : short rib ragu alla bolognese, grano padano, and added two seared scallops. Wow. The pasta is homemade. It was phenomenal. My husband had the "Maiale" : 16oz pork chop, cauliflower puree, chard, stone fruit, bourbon glaze. It was a large portion and cooked perfectly. So good. Our friends had steaks and sides, so I was able to try the Mac and cheese- which did not get congealed! The corn was delicious and the mushrooms were a variety. Of course we had dessert. I would recommend this place. They have a great menu. Drinks were awesome. Service topped everything. They went out of their way for us multiple times. Thanks so much. We can't wait to come back again.

My hubby and I have an ongoing, unspoken competition: who can find the best steak in Louisville?…read moreThe one spot we always wanted to try closed a few years back, so every new place now has some pretty high expectations to meet -- from meal quality to overall experience to value. Hubby took me to one of the oldest steakhouses in town last fall, and even with three adults, the bill was noticeably lower than what we spent at this establishment. Service here gets a solid 5 stars -- everyone was attentive and personable. Ambience earns a strong 4 stars with a nice vibe that fits the area. The menu itself is intriguing, and every dish we ordered came out at the right temperature and well‑executed. Overall flavor was good. The desserts, however, didn't quite match the caliber we hoped for -- though to be fair, we're not professional food critics, so take that for what it's worth. Not sure yet if we'd return. If we did, it'd probably be with a larger group so we could share the dishes we enjoyed and make the price point feel a little more balanced. That said, the location is perfect for out‑of‑towners staying at the nearby hotels and those hitting the area's higher‑end entertainment spots.

I had a small quick lunch here, shrimp ceviche and a margarita, both excellent. Such a colorful…read moreplace, really pretty. Bright colors everywhere, from the outside facade as I entered, to the chairs, tropical plants, the "Azucar!" mural with dangling vines, the dinner plates, the menu, and the food itself. My waiter Pedro was great, and checked on me frequently. In fact all the staff were great, neatly dressed in black, most wearing hats, making friendly greetings as I passed, holding doors, etc. Complimentary bread was brought. It was a good mini loaf, fresh and warm, and accompanied by two compound butters, guava and cilantro. I'm not a butter fan but I did try them for review purposes and they were interesting. The bread also helped extend my appetizer-portion ceviche, soaking up the spicy liquid. The ceviche portion was actually generous for the price and with the bread just what I needed for lunch. Medium-size shrimps in spicy tomato-lime sauce with cilantro, raw onions, micro-greens, and orange-yellow edible flowers on top. Served with tostones instead of the usual chips. These thick fried slices of green plantain were salty, soft in the middle and crispy on the outside, a perfect accompaniment. The outdoor covered patio area was packed with diners, loud with Cuban music in a good way, vines (plastic?) everywhere , chandeliers and straw lampshades on the ceiling, with large fans and a misting device controlling the heat. A small bird visited my table as I ate, politely sitting for a bit on the other chair. A comfortable place where you'd want to hang out a long while if you had the time, which I didn't. I also had a mojito, cold, minty, limey (real limes) and refreshing. A bit sweet to my liking but definitely strong. I love Cuban food, and I wish I could have tried more of the large and intriguing menu. I didn't even get a dessert, just an excellent Café Cubano without sugar (so an espresso really), served in an elegant Victorian-style gilded espresso cup and saucer (see photo). Chipped, but that just adds to the charm.

This was my first time ever trying Cuban food, and it was great!…read more We walked in on a Saturday around 4 PM and there was about an hour wait but we decided to just eat in the bar area instead. I ordered the shrimp appetizer, which was delicious but very garlic just in case you don't like that. And the vaca frita - everything was so delicious and I will definitely be back to try more things on their menu.
