What an amazing experience! I recently hosted a corporate event with about 60 people in attendance. We needed a place that encouraged networking and community while making sure everyone was well fed. Books and Brews became the perfect venue. The staff welcomed us openly and worked hard to provide quality service. The food was excellent with the family pretzel being a fan favorite! This unique experience was the perfect opportunity to give my guests a taste of the Midwest. I know they will remember this dinner for years to come. read more

The place has a wall of books and a massive set of board games. I counted about eight tables with another ten outside. The place has a homey basement rec room feel. The bar tender served us. She was friendly and attentive. There is an impressive selection of craft beer. I had a 3 Floyd's Cheer Team double IPA. The beer as full bodied and good. The Pulled Pork Nachos come on kettle potato chips. The nachos are smothered with a creamy beer cheese, pulled park and a whisky flavored bbq sauce. The nachos were good, but didn't knock my socks off. The potato chips make them pretty salty. The coffee maker was so loud that we moved from the bar, but not far enough. It sounded like an old high pitched ship engine. I'm not sure how anyone could read and no one was. Toys, collectibles and shirts are available for sale. I love the concept of a place to play board games or read and have a beer or coffee. I'd recommend for a college date night. read more

Such a fun little place to go for meeting up with some friends. Every time we travel to Indiana to visit family we always go here for some late night fun. Open till midnight on the weekend with tons of games and some light food options. We're not drinkers but it sounds like they have a ton of options if you like beer. The family pretzel and flatbreads are my go tos! read more

[Out-of-Towner Review] Books is a little generous, in their title. I was happy to find an independent bookstore in Brownsburg, but I was really let down when I walked in. For someone who is looking for books, it was like walking into a hoarder's home with a wall full of disheveled books. They were all used, not in any specific order, and seemed to be thrown into the bookshelf with no rhyme or reason. Across the way is a mirror of a shelf situation, but with all the board games you could think of. It looked like a great space to hang out with friends and play a game. Books seem like an afterthought here. The brew area is noted, so anyone under 21 cannot walk into. The hops are extremely fragrant within the store. Also, in this area are most of their Funko Pops, which is strange, because children cannot shop them. This place was just not for me, but that doesn't mean it isn't for those who are looking for community and connection through brews and games. Go for everything else besides the books... read more

We came for the Goose Island - Bourbon County beer release on Black Friday and we had the best time. The beers were really heavy and I had to take a nap after haha. Definitely grab some food here while you have your heavy beers. I like that it's family friendly as well! The bartender was very knowledgeable and worked quickly to fill all the orders. They have games and books here to entertain your group or yourself if you would like. read more

Attended a trivia night here and had a wonderful time. We appreciate that they let us sample the brews. Good food, good service.

We had a great time tasting a few different beers and dinner. The Chicken Salad sandwich and Chicken Caesar sandwich were incredible! It ended up being trivia night too! And to top it off, we had a blast playing Operation! Such a fun place! read more

I was happy to finally come to Books and Brews Brownsburg for lunch after a bust at the Indy Food Quest. I had heard nothing but good things about this Books and Brews location, and it did meet my expectations big time. The ambiance is much more comfortable and upscale than the original Books and Brews mothership location. The bar area is very nice and I was impressed with the menu selection. I ordered the chicken, bacon, and ranch sandwich with a fruit cup and a mango cart beer to drink. There was only one person working the bar and the dining room area, so it took a few minutes for the bartender to take my order, but that was Ok. The service was very good and the bartender did an excellent job keeping up with all the orders and the crowed because the place was pretty busy when I arrived. The craft beer list was very impressive for this Brownsburg location, much better than the mothership location. The mango cart beer was refreshing and I could definitely taste the mango. The chicken, bacon, and ranch sandwich was excellent and the texture of the bread was just perfect. I loved this Books and Brews Brownsburg location and will definitely come back here if I am ever in Brownsburg for a event. This is a great bar to hang out in, and they have top notch quality craft beer. Books and Brews Brownsburg has definitely stepped up their game. Hope it stays around for a long time. read more

Great atmosphere for lunch with the kids or dinner with friends. Both times I have visited, the staff was knowledgeable on brews and made good recommendations for me. The food was just okay. It's a small restaurant, so I understand only having one server, but it does result in long wait times for customers to get simple things like refills or the check. read more

Had to check this place out and glad I did. It was exactly what I hoped for, quit, good food and beer at good prices, and conversation with Nick and a regular patron at the bar. They have every board game you could think of to play, tables for the family to all get around and play and eat together. I've heard they also have a pretty cool trivia night on Thursdays too that I'll have to check out soon! So glad it's so close too, definitely a new spot ;)! read more

It's been a few years since my first review of this place. They have definitely worked out the kinks and have become our local hangout. There is truly something for everyone here -- beer, wine, wine slushies, canned NA drinks, soda, coffee. There are games and books galore, so plan on having a refreshing beverage and stay a while. It gets crowded on weekends, but I've found it's a great place to work on occasional weekdays. There is a limited food menu, and it's all delicious. You may often find a local brewery does a tap takeover, which draws in beer nerds such as myself. I'm glad to have this local place near my home. read more

This is one of my favorite hangout spots! My husband and I come to have a few beers, food and play games. Thursday nights are usually packed due to trivia night. They have local live music on Saturday nights. Different gaming groups periodically come and spend the day playing board games. Nick the owner is super nice and Ken makes some of the best food in town. They just updated their menu so you can choose how you want your food such as sandwich, quesadilla, salad, Flatbread or nachos. Their taps are rotating and always have some interesting items to try. Today I am enjoying the Carmel Apple cider from Blake's. Oh I would be remiss if I forgot to mention the outdoor seating. Many people bring their puppies and sit outside. read more

What an adorable place!! You walk in and it looks like a bookstore with games and tables, but it's a restaurant too! They also have beer and wine slushies! I ordered the milkshake stout and it was delicious. For food, one of the managers told us about the chefs special, which was a meatloaf sandwich with collard greens. I ended up ordering that, and it was amazing! Apparently they also offer trivia nights weekly, and other fun events. I absolutely loved the vibe of this place and do plan on returning. read more

Books & Brews Brownsburg! Welcome! This is the third Books & Brews location in the Indy-ish area -- and MAN was it needed here. Don't worry -- it's the same B&B charm, same tasty beers, same food menu, same amazing handcrafted wood furniture, same events (trivia, live music, game night - same schedule as the Indy location) as the Indy/Fishers and Zionsville locations. However, this location brings a fresh layout and soda service, y'all! The run down: + Keep in mind that there is no beer brewed on the premises, so there are no growler fills on Sundays. + Carry-out Books & Brews signature beers in cans coming soon. + Don't forget to get Mug Club membership - it's worth it and good at all locations! + All ages welcome -- tables for families or a bar area for grown folk. + Patio seating! + Flights available! + Cool literary themed merchandise + Games to play Come. Sit, drink, converse. Enjoy :) read more

I love everything about this concept. Beer. Coffee. Snacks. Sandwiches. Games. Books. Friends. Time alone. What are you looking for? This place deserves recognition as a prized place for community and escape. I'm writing after 1 20oz beer (Barrel aged walnut brown ), 1 order of Nancy Drew chips & beer cheese, a game of old school Sentence Cube Scrabble, and a cafe mocha (). Hubby got a Return of the King grilled cheese, and it's quite good. Do your good work, Brownsburg, and make this place thrive post-pandemic! read more

This is the newest Books & Brews location (there are more on the way soon) and it succeeds in replicating the feel of the original location. Part-used bookstore, part-craft beer bar. I think one of the most underrated aspects of B&B is the food. I'm in love with the Hemingway, a grilled sandwich with ham, capicolla, pickles, provolone and spicy mustard (served with potato chips). The beers are pretty good too and half the fun is figuring out the names which all have a literary reference. Brownsburg is a pretty sleepy town, but I think the locals are going to love their B&B. read more

We had just finished dinner at Tequila Sunrise and decided to pop in for a beer for him and books for me. We'd never been to any of the Books and Brews so I wasn't sure what to expect. We received a warm and friendly greeting as we entered. The bartender/server was very personable and a wonderful advocate for Books and Brews. He asked which beers we'd like to sample right away. My husband had the Threemusketer, I think that was the name, which he liked but he'd try something else the next time. All the beers are cleverly named after books. While I was browsing the various selection of gently used books, the server informed me I could purchase any book for $3 (except the new books). Very affordable! They also accept donated books which I wish I'd known a few months ago. I have oodles of books I need to sort through and donate. 10% of all proceeds goes toward the Indy Reads Program, a non-profit that offers adult and childhood literacy programs. The family dining area is separated from the bar area by a large shelf of board games. A couple of ladies were enjoying a beer and playing Yahtzee. Wonderful opportunity to play a board or card card with your kids, friends or spouse. Nice break from the tablets and phones. The family area dining tables are wooden with small bench seats. They sit very close to each other and would be very crowded if more people had been there. Definitely would intrude on personal space if that borrows you. The menu has fun names with several Appetizers with charcuterie plate, hummus, soft pretzel/beer cheese, Flatbreads with grilled chicken, grilled cheese and pulled pork. Fun sandwiches with Return of the King grilled cheese, Hamlet A Tale of Two Piggies with ham, bacon & cheese, A Chicken Sandwich For the Soul or grilled chicken plus more options. Next visit I'll have to try something from the menu. From the conversation with our server there are multiple events throughout the week from beer specials or beer releases, live music, open mic on Thursday and Wednesday is trivia nights. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturday's Growler Fills are $8. April 19th is the next beer release for Melisandre Peach Mango at this location. Fun space, lots of families as well as those adults just grabbing a beer and a bite. read more

No prices, no organization, no coffee bar that I could see; just some nerds playing a Pokémon card game and an oily smell coming from the back. I would not really consider this a bookstore. More like garage sale used books and a bowling alley bar in back without the bowling alley. read more

I am giving this 4 stars because it actually got my teens to play a board game w me. I would have done 5 if seating was not so close and food prices would have been a bit less. It was Sunday and there were a couple people in there so I was imagining if the place was full. No way could I of sat that close to someone in those seats. I enjoy my personal space. But we loved playing a family board game having some beers. We had the pretzel but I felt that $7 for a microwaved pretzel was a bit much. But the cheese was good. I have been hesitant to come here because I imagined it overran w young kids. But I can see this as a fun place to take my teens for an electronic break. read more

Good food, beer and books. Just opened on Monday and grand opening is this Friday. Nice selection of grilled sandwiches called "chapters" and pizzas called "naan-fictions." Perfect for snacking or lunch. As for desserts, the cheesecake was nice, but the pie was a little small. I loved the Nancy brew beer which is a hoppy pale ale and a "naan-fiction" flatbread pizza called slaughterhouse-five which is sweet red sauce, bacon, pulled pork, cheddar, mozzarella, & garlic salt. Wife says they need hot sauce for sandwiches/pizzas and ice cream for pie. My Wife loved the Clifford beer which is a Irish red and the "chapter" sandwich called Hemingway which is ham, cappocolla, provolone, spicy mustard & pickles (similar to an Italian-style Cuban). She recommends getting it grilled with a side of giardiniera (aka hot peppers / pickled veg). She couldn't finished the entire thing so I helped finish it off - It also comes with a side chips or fruit as well. I definitely recommend getting a mug club membership - which you get your choice of a ceramic mug made by a very talented local potter, 20oz pours for the pice of a 16oz, $3 mug fill nights, $2 off growler fills, $1 off bullet fills, 10% off B&B merchandise, monthly BBQ (which I will love), free book exchange program (which my wife will love) and the perks are good at all locations! All of these details will also be on the back of your mug club membership card ;) read more

I've been going to B&B for probably five years now. At first, I wasn't sure if I'd like it. However, over time I've realized was a unique and fun place it's turned into for the Brownsburg area. The beer is always great and the service is always nice. It's quirky, but that's part of the charm. As is the fun the kids have playing games and just hanging out as a family. The only "downside" is that they have a very simple menu, but if you know it going in, you're fine. read more

What a great place to stop in with friends for a beer or bring the family for game night! Came in with my son Saturday night to listen to a friend play. Like the live entertainment regularly provided. It was busy in both the bar and game tables. Great to see. We were able to grab a table and enjoy the evening. Their beer is solid. The Clifford (they all have book related names) is one of my favorite reds. Couldn't have asked for better service. read more

One of our favorite family places! We love to stop in and grab a beer while our kids enjoy grilled cheese. The naan pizza is delicious too! The beers are all locally brewed. You can try beer, wine, coffee or even the new wine slushees (they taste like daiquiris!). The books are for sale and there's always a new selection. There's outdoor patio seating and dogs are welcome! The staff even brought my pup a bowl of water. The shelves are filled with board games and we always grab one to play. Our favorite part is the friendly staff and community feel of the place. There aren't many places where you can work quietly on your laptop, plus grab a quick lunch, plus play board games with your family! Such a local gem! read more

This is definitely a welcomed addition to Brownsburg! The service was outstanding (we sat at the bar) and very helpful with our many questions. I highly recommend the pear cider (I felt like they should have their drink prices posted somewhere). We ordered the Finnegan nachos with pork which were good but given that we were one of the only people getting food, I was disappointed that they came out warm (they were cold very quickly bc of this). I also felt the nachos were overpriced for the serving size ($12, see picture). The beer cheese was delicious, pork was pretty salty. We will definitely be back but likely not for food! read more
