First time visit to this location but long time customer of this book store chain. The store was sparsely populated with customers and staff, but after standing at the Customer Service counter in the center of the store for just two minutes an employee asked if I needed help, which I did. I wanted to preorder a Michael Connelly book, Desert Star, that comes out in November. I want to read it as soon as it is released. It will take months to get it from the library. It only took the staff member a couple of minutes to process my preorder. I browsed the bookmark selections on my way out. Since I'm reading two books at the same time, I needed a second bookmark. They had a whole four sided turnstile kiosk of really nice bookmarks.

Nice and clean place. Plenty of books and games. Bought 3 books. And when I paid they didn't want to give me a bag . They said there was a bag shortage. But not only that you can see their trying to promote an agenda. Not only to adults but children. The picture I took was in the kids section.

I have to admit I was impressed with this place. Not only is it huge, it has a lot of items that you wouldn't normally think of in a bookstore. It seems they realize that people who read books might also like board games, of collectibles, or gifts for folks who read, and a cafe for enjoying your newest purchase. On the day we went, there was an organization providing gift wrapping for the holidays. Very cool and convenient. And of course, they have all the latest books and if they don't, they can track it down for you. The staff we dealt with were helpful and friendly. Great experience! Review #1949

The children's section at Barnes & Noble

This Barnes & Noble bookstores is one of the main anchors at The Shops at Perry Crossing, which is an outdoor mall in Plainfield. This visit was all about the kids section, as I had young children with me and we were looking for a gift for another young child. I went specifically to find an educational floor puzzle, but alas, they don't have any here. They have a grip of adult puzzles, though, so if you're looking for a puzzle that isn't for kids, Barnes & Noble has your back. They also have a pretty decent toy section, with lots of games and whatnots for all ages. I saw hand puppets, science kits, board games, craft projects, Melissa & Doug toys and stuffed animals. The kids section also has a big train track set up for kids to play with, and, thankfully, chairs for adults to sit in and rest for a while. Near the checkout area, I saw a whole section dedicated to audio-visual materials, including CDs and DVDs and Blu-Rays. In this section, you can find movies and music, obviously. This Barnes & Noble, like every good Barnes & Noble, has a Starbucks inside it, with lots of little tables in the cafe area. I saw many people with computers who had set up shop, and it was fairly crowded, so it seems like this area is a happening place.

The Whispering Shelf features a fabulous assortment of stationery/ cards, gifts, books with handwritten recommendations (always a sucker for these little personal touches from a bookstore) and an expensive children's section. I was especially enamored by the children's section and display. There were several interactive elements to keep kids busy while you peruse the shelves (smart!). They offer a variety of events throughout the month for book clubs, storytime and more. Can't wait for more future visits and to do our Christmas shopping here!

As a frequent flyer I am a habitual browser (and random item purchaser) of fun gift shops and booksellers within airports. With IND being my home Airport I have been dismayed over the years that the shops have only been engaging or enjoyable to browse when the holiday merchandise of "A Christmas Story" comes through...Not anymore!!! ink by Hudson is a very welcome addition to not just the airport, but my new flight routine! Not anticipating a fun new store, ink was an exciting discovery today! There is a wide selection of books and a variety of Knick knacks and gift items that bring the store closer to what I see (and shop within) in larger airports I frequent like Boston, Charlotte, or LaGuardia! I was pleased to find markup minimal and on some items non existent, a rarity in airports these days. I encourage anyone with some spare time to stop in, perhaps just before an order of the famous shrimp cocktail of Harry and Izzy's?!
