Book auto leasing really dropped the ball today if it wasn't for U-Haul I don't know what I would have done made reservation a month ago got confirmation the day before when I show up to pick up the van they had none available only a 16-foot truck got it would have had to drive that Hackensack for yeah that's true read more

I wish I had read the reviews here before booking a truck through the Budget website. The worst customer service ever, they were completely unfriendly and uncaring. Then they went to get my truck and came back and said "the guy says the brakes on your truck are shot, do you still want to rent it?" Seriously? Then when we complained the woman snapped back at us a nasty reply. The nearest replacement they could find was a half hour away in the wrong direction. We ended up renting a UHaul after wasting hours with this horrible dealership. Then to top it all off they charged me $50 on the credit card I used to reserve the truck and I had to call Budget to get the charge removed and file a complaint. STAY AWAY from this horrible place. read more

AVOID The employees here are extremely rude, vulgar, and ratchet (ghetto). It starts from the moment you walk in the door. I was rudely checked in by one of the employees, a large black woman with an attitude, lets call her Bertha. Bertha has the work ethic of a DMV/Welfare office employee, the voice of an angel, and the weight of a uhaul truck (wide load / cannot miss). She proceeded to check me in, hacking away at the keyboard with the nail polished sausages she considers to be her fingers, attitude on full burn. She was reluctantly doing me a favor as oppose to providing a service and boy did this fat lady sing (she was loud and rude). They did not have the class of car that I reserved on the budget website. This is NOT the customers problem, yet somehow, Bertha found a way to make me feel as if I had made an error. The problem was out of their hands, which is just silly. I ended up with a mid size vehicle. A class lower than what I had reserved online at the Budget website. Upon returning the car I was haggled over by who im guessing was the manager (his professionalism brings serious doubts) about the gas tank being just the slightest bit under FULL (barely a millimeter under F) I showed proof of purchase of gasoline. The manager insisted that I take back the keys to the car and drive down the block to fill the already FULL tank. I refused to do such a thing as it conflicted with what I consider to be professional. I was charged more than $20 for less than a gallon of gasoline. Greed and unprofessionalism seem to be the staff motto here. I would avoid this place like Middle East. These crooks do not deserve the privilege of running a Budget rental car business. Nor do they deserve the money this scandalous group of people steals from their customers wallets everyday. KARMA This place is unworthy of even just ONE star. read more

UPDATE: My summary is this is a "you get what you pay for" kind of place and that's fine by me. I got a really great rate for my rental but the trade off was that my car wasn't ready and the car I got was still not cleaned. I agreed to take it regardless and they gave me a discount on my rental. While the service wasn't overly friendly, it was cordial. ---- I might be adjusting my review but for now kind of horrified by the many negative reviews. I rented a car from here and then called in about my reservation because I thought I had until 6 pm to pick up my car and was advised they close at 5:30. I said, "But it says online that you close at 6 pm?" I was put on hold and even the hold jangle said they closed at 6 pm. The woman advised me that they had to go get cars at 5:30 pm and no one would be there to help me --and then that they shut their computer down at 5:45 pm. While I don't think it's kind to swoop in at 6 pm and demand a car, I also don't think you should post you close at 6 pm if your services end at 5:30 pm. My recommendation is that the company change that information online and on their hold music so that employees get to leave when they are supposed to. If your employee's shift ends at 6 pm, the business should close at 5:30 pm. It's also hard on your customers to plan their day when posted times are not accurate. I found the employees testy and reacted to it but noticed when I calmed down, they did too. So I wonder if they are used to being treated poorly and are on the defensive-I don't know. It's hard for me to believe that people are just rude for the heck of it. Anyway, we'll find out tomorrow when I go pick up my car. I'll update this review with how it goes. read more

For what I needed, it was great. Rented a small budget truck to move my fiance into our new place. Great rate and it had after hours drop-off. Truck was clean. Service was eh - okay. You're in Jersey and at a Budget truck rental, so don't expect white glove service. That being said, they were accommodating where possible. Would use them again. read more

I would give zero star. The employees here are extremely rude. They will give you worst car in your booked type. No choice. Most importantly, check the car hundred times before moving it out. They will try their best to use your insurance for the damage you didn't notice. Avoid the company!!! read more

Attitude soon as I walked into the door. When it was finally my turn she was rude. I told the women behind the counter all my things have been filed out and done online including paid for. She proceeded to then tell me that she needed to run my credit and can only use a credit card. I told her in the past few months I've used Avis in NJ, PR, & FL without any issues. She then proceeded to tell me well looks like I can't help your kind. I stormed out of that place immediately and wouldn't recommend this to anyone. read more

My son and I recently booked a one-way truck rental (16 foot box truck) from NJ to Virginia from these folks. When we came to pick it up, it wasn't there, but on its way. So we got to wait 1.5 hours. Since they had our phone number it is hard to understand why nobody called. Except after we met the woman at the counter it wasn't that hard to understand. She was perhaps the singularly most unhappy, unfriendly, truly unhelpful creature I have ever met in a business environment. If you want to practice your self-control, this is an ideal place. Otherwise, good luck! BTW -- the truck wasn't too bad -- although it did pull to the right quite a bit and the wipers were mostly just symbolic as opposed to functional. read more

I requested a moving truck, filled out all necessary information (including my credit card number), only to have them cancel the confirmed reservation less than an hour before I was supposed to pick it up. Had no other trucks, and suggested I call another location 45 minutes away. When I called the Budget national number- I waited 15 min. before I was able to speak to someone who told me I was now on a wait list, and it could be 15 min, 2 hours, or not at all. I never did heard back from them - Unprofessional methods of service, and horrible customer service. read more

Rented a moving truck. Ken the owner books me out. Recommends all the extras Insurance mileage etc. Hands me the contract. I return the vehicle get the receipt go home no issues. Looking over the receipt see Moving Supplies $9.60?? Hmmm never received any supplies. Call Ken his exact words did you read the contract middle of the contract lists administrative fees for his business. For that he calls it "Moving Supplies" when he bills you.... sounds totally legit right... stay away.... read more

I needed 2 large 24 foot one-way Budget trucks on the last day of the month and I had not reserved anywhere (not the smartest at month end). I called around the area and got the usual NY/NJ no care for customer service. Other places said "I don't have a truck but I'll look around and get back to you." None did. The folks at Book Auto WERE ON IT. Within minutes they had 1 truck confirmed and the other one about an hour later. Friendly helpful folks that were easy to communicate with. We picked up both trucks a few hours later and the cross country trip went great...only complaint was the big trucks only get 8-10MPG but that is not Book Auto's fault. read more

I needed a car rental while we were staying with family. Debbie, the car rental clerk, was remarkably rude. On the day I rented, she interrupted the check-in to chat with someone who barged in through the back door, about potentially renting a truck in the near future. She then got huffy when politely asked to return to the people actually paying then and there. When I returned the rental at the required time, she said they were closed and would inspect the car later, which I objected to. She also refused to give me a 3.5 mile drive back to where I was staying, saying they didn't have the "manpower" -- even though there was at least one other employee sitting around. If they were indeed closed, giving me a ride should not have been a problem, since there would be no customers serviced. She is a piece of work, and is doing no favors for the Budget Rental brand. read more

The women at this place are nasty and rude and unprofessional. As we were waiting for the truck we rented all we heard was them cursing and talking bad about customers. I know everyone does this but you don't do it in front of people. They also didn't tell us about the fact you need to fill the truck with gas or you will be charged up the ass we had to ask. I don't want to leave it a bad review because the truck helped me move it's the people here who need an attitude adjustment. read more

Horrible experience! The women who run the desk are crude, uneducated, rude and impatient! I don't know how they stay in business. They need a lesson in professionalism and customer service! They also need a lesson in good grammar. Just a horrible experience. This staff of women are so unprofessional, rude and SO LOUD! They actually scream to each other. I have never seen anything like this in business. Whoever is in charge, should be fired for allowing these women to treat people so poorly. read more

Stay aware! Crooked prices and rude service. When I cancelled due to the astonishingly truck rental, she hung up the phone! Scammers!!!! Never again! read more

Dishonest business. I rented a Budget moving truck from them. When I declined the supplemental insurance, the guy was very pushy, warning me over and over that he doesn't want to "jinx" me but even a small ding would be extremely expensive for me, and I repeated many times that I understand the risks but am willing to take my chances. After all was said and done, the lengthy contract he printed for me to sign -- the one that no one reads because it's long and tedious and you have to assume everything you just verbally agreed to is reflected in the contract -- said that I did accept supplemental insurance (a clause buried somewhere in the middle), and I was charged anyway for what I essentially had to plead my case to decline since he was pushing it so hard on me. Lesson learned: don't do business with these people, and always read contracts in full no matter what. read more

Scammed. Rented a Budget truck for a one-day move. Fully fueled up before returning it using their after-hours return service. Should have taken a photo of the gauge and odometer. Went back the following morning for a copy of my receipt and saw a $38 fueling charge. They claim they filled beyond the auto-stop on the pump and had to include a $30 service charge "per Budget corporate policy". Even though their posted rates show a $10 fueling charge. Got nowhere with their manager and plan to take it up with Budget. But this is definitely buyer-beware. Better yet, buyer avoid. read more
