We had a great meal at Bonfire! I got the Cajun Shrimp and Andouille Pasta and it was delicious! The andouille was great. I would definitely order it again. 3 people ordered the Elk Dish and 1 ordered the lamb Ragú and all loved their dishes. The veggies with Gorgonzola side dish was great. They missed my salad due to a ticket printing issue but I didn't need it so they just removed it from the bill. All craft cocktails were great. Called in for a reservation for our anniversary and arrived and were told to sit wherever. This would have been okay, if when we called to make the reservation, they mentioned it was family seating. That being said, I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. Long rustic wood tables, and tall ceilings. The food is okay. Several things work and several things don't. The ribeye steak was pretty boring actually. And needed horseradish, which they didn't have. The pork chop was just okay. It was weird because there was mashed potatoes and the side vegetable was also starchy potatoes, carrots, broccolini and beets. The side vegetable was good however. The dinner portions were large, while the appetizers were tiny. We ordered the scallops to start and there were 3, that's right THREE small scallops. I got a side salad that was supposed to be lightly dressed, but so lightly it was almost non existent. So I got a side of caesar which was delicious. Overall, its very overpriced for what you are getting. Presentation, dress of staff, seating, and atmosphere should be much more elevated for the price. The casual atmosphere does not equal the price. No one mentioned our anniversary and no flare was added because of that. Which is slightly unusual. But due to the casual-ness of this place, I could see how that would happen. The cocktails were good and of course consisted of Whistling Andy's distilled liquor. So, this is the best food I have ever had in the Flathead Valley. Seriously. Fantastic. Reason for the 3 stars: three times now I've driven here, which is over 45 minutes, with people to introduce to this spot, and it's been closed when it's supposed to be open. Hours aren't posted on the door and they're not always open by 4 so call before making the trek. It's way worth it when its open. Looking forward to changing this review to 5 stars. It's alright to now have specific hours as long as you advertise to call ahead. read more

This was my second time going there in 2 years and honestly I was not that impressed the first time but we wanted to try it again, Maybe get something something different and all the food we got was just not good. We ordered like 4 different dishes and nothing was tasting good for us. Well on our third try at this restaurant we were very disappointed. I had Pho along with another in my group. The broth was good but overly infused with jalapeños. The meat (yak?) was very tough and I couldn't eat it. The noodles ( flour) were good . The rice noodles my other friend had were not liked. Presentation was good with a good. My wife had the tomato soup which was overly powered with red chili peppers and very spicy so much so she could not finish it. The martini I ordered smelled of something bad and I couldn't drink it. The first time we went to this restaurant we had a wonderful dinner! I am not sure what has changed but we won't be back The restaurant had very few people in it but was clean and COVID prepared. read more

Honestly, they need to rethink their concept of what should be considered restaurant food. This is like your 19 year old brother, with no other means to support himself, who was able to get your soft hearted grandmother to front him some money to open a bar. Then he saw a 30 sec TikTok video of a kid saying he made a killing when he started serving food in his bar. The food is mediocre at best, kind of like twisting your older sister's arm to make you something to eat. The pastrami sandwich had pastrami you'd buy at Safeway. There was no sauerkraut. The bread was probably Sara Lee. I asked to substitute the potato chips with a side salad--no side salads. I asked for mustard--no mustard. I asked for a pickle--no dill pickles but they had spicy pickle slices used on hamburgers. The menu is very limited. The small bar looked like a nice place for a beer. read more

We were seated after 9, in a private garden setting. So perfect after two days of driving. The menu is like nothing else we've seen here. Served by friendly team mates who were so nice to share local history and favorite menu choices. We got the buratta, Korean chicken and pork torta. All were excellent. Came in today 6/12/22 at 5:15. It was empty and kind of didn't look open. My husband asked if they were open and the bartender said, yep, door is open, sign is on, pretty rudely. Then we sit down on the patio and there are big centerpieces on the tables. We were squeezing into a 4 top for the 5 of us since we have 3 kids under 10 (our choice, the patio was empty) so we moved the centerpiece. She comes out and reprimanded us for moving the centerpiece because there was a big table coming so if we could not shift things around... ummmm okay. Vibe was NOT friendly from the get go! Server luckily made up for it and was super friendly. But if I was a server I would not want her face to be the first thing people saw when they walk in because it would affect my tips. Luckily we didn't punish our server for her behavior. Now. On to the food: we ordered the chicken alfredo, Korean BBQ and the brisket Mac n cheese. We were impressed with all 3 dishes! In conclusion: don't let the extremely rude bartender (short blonde girl--in case there are other bartenders) scare you off from the really kind servers and excellent food. Honestly I really wanted to get up and leave after she told us not to move the centerpieces (p.s. we were out of there before the 9 top even showed up). It's not that hard to be nice. Bartender should probably be in another profession. Update: The bartender reached out to me, apologizing for her dry/humor banter. For us it was the combo of that first comment along with the being reprimanded for moving the centerpiece (that was the most offensive part). This was the first time eating at Bonfire. We frequent the Bigfork, Woods Bay area and normally enjoy the local bars and restaurants. With that being said, I was very disappointed in the food at Bonfire. I stopped in for lunch and ordered the pastrami on Rye. Seemed like a safe simple menu item that should be easy to produce....I was wrong. For starters it took 30 minutes to get my food, and the restaurant only had 3 tables full. The sandwich itself was a disappointment. It was bread, 1 thin slice of pastrami, coleslaw and a ton of mustard. I've had sandwiches my daughter makes that we're better. First off....where is the pastrami? Also...I love mustard but that is all you tasted. Come on guys...it sucked. I will say the service was decent, and the restaurant was clean. read more

Bonfire has a cool vibe and yummy food. Great cocktails as well! I can't stop thinking about the bacon bathed wild mushrooms which, if you like bacon and mushrooms, you will see what I mean. We went to eat at the Montana Bonfire located at the Flathead Brewing Company. The appetizer was delicious as were the Titos. From there it went downhill! My rib eye was cold, not cooked correctly, and horrible! The mashed potatoes were also cold. My daughter's tiki masala with chicken was cold as well. Her rice was hard and barely cooked. Both of our vegetables were not chopped very well and both were burnt. We didn't complain at the time as the waitress was sweet I did call the next day to speak with a Manager with no call back. The interior has an upbeat modern design with seating at the bar, in the 'living room' at gorgeous long community tables, or weather permitting on the outside deck. Mild drawback: the uncomfortable deck chairs. Super friendly hostess & prompt service. Extensive drinks menu & eclectic food offerings. We shared an incredibly beautiful/fresh salad & hoarded our own divine entrees: I had the Korean Fried Chicken & hubby had the Bison Short ribs. Loved the spicy chicken & the cherry BBQ sauce on the ribs. So satisfying, we had to skip dessert this time. Looking forward to another visit. Went on a week night, no waiting. Came here while on holiday. The food is exceptional. I had the spicy Korean chicken and my husband had the creamy Cajun pasta. Both were excellent. We had the tempura artichoke to start and they were wow. My husband had a couple of fin and tonics and he raved about them. The service could not have been better. The decor is nice, the patio is great and I'd give the waitresses 4 stars. The food was pretty disappointing. It didn't help that it started off with being given a fork that clealy wasn't washed. Had the bonsai cheese fries which were limpy and smothered in sauce, and the mac and cheese which was gritty and bland. My friend had the brisket which he said was pretty good and made up for the side of veggies that were way undercooked. We had the cheesecake for dessert which wasn't great either. Staff very pleasant. Food, not so great. The Braised Beef was mushy and fatty, potato salad was undercooked. The kimchi was good, however, the presentation was bad, the slaw was chopped very thick and in large portions that could not be cut up as it was all packed into a small ramekin. The Korean BBQ'd chicken was good. They forgot one of our sides which wasn't delivered until about 15 min into our main courses, no offer to comp was given. I must say that I was rather disappointed with the food I was served. Had dinner with three friends I ordered the brisket with rice and broccolini and my friend ordered the same thing. My brisket was so dry and the food was cold and my friends plate was perfectly cooked juicy brisket nice and hot.The waiter came over and I explained the situation how I'd like a new plate of food as my brisket was over cooked and cold and that I did not want the plate heated up I wanted a fresh plate. It came back with the same plate he had heated up and this dried the brisket out even more. I explained that this is not what I had asked for and that I wanted a new meal all together. I will say that I think I got a fresh plate but I can't really guarantee that all the meat was replaced. It doesn't require much to be consistent particularly with the food being warm and cooked properly. I don't need to come back here. read more

What a disappointment. When we saw the menu we were excited about a new restaurant in the area with non standard Montana dishes. While the menu looks great, the food and service is a disappointment. Forgotten orders, cold food, and dietary requests confirmed, but not implemented leading to sickness. Wish it wasn't this way, we had high hopes. Decided to be impulsive and go to Big Fork, MT for the weekend. Stayed at the Islander Inn next to the Bonfire on Lake Flathead, love this place. Both are local musts to support. We started with the Burrata Cheese & Bread app and moved to the Organic Chicken & Mushroom pasta accompanied by the Korean Fried Chicken thighs. Needless to say the grub was 5 star based on my rating. Service was simply outstanding on a busy Saturday night. Best part was meeting the ownership who was incredibly locally genuine. It was our first time to Big Fork and we stayed nearby. After driving by Bonfire a few times, we decided to try it out. It looked really cute and had a nice patio/deck area! We walked in and the host handed us menus and told us to seat ourselves wherever. I got the side Mac and Cheese and Bacon/Brussel Sprouts. I was picturing rich, creamy Mac and Cheese and charred, crispy brussel sprouts and instead got bland macaroni in a very thin, runny sauce and wilted, mushy brussel sprouts. The guys both got Sean's brisket which was "okay" but whatever came on the sold was cold like it had just come out of the refrigerator. The waitress had told us about a salad that was their special of the night, so my friend ordered that. The waitress then came back and said actually they were out. So then she ordered the short ribs, which ended up coming out completely cold on the bone. At this point we were all kind of over it and disappointed so my friend just sent it back and didn't get anything else. The waitress was kind of awkward throughout - and wasn't very apologetic about our bad experience. Hopefully this bad experience is just because the place is new and trying to figure everything out still but we will not be going back! We ended up going across the street for a burger and fries even though we had had it the day before! Bummer, because we were really excited to try this place!
